Thank God. The election is finally over. The old lying scumbag politicians were replaced with new lying scumbag politicians. The political machine grinds on and I expect nothing to change.

And once again, my candidate was a loser. Since I am staunchly anti-Republican and anti-Democrat, I always vote for a third party candidate. Oh well, the Duocracy will never allow a third party to win the Presidential election.

But, on the positive side, I no longer have to be flooded with political ads while watching TV. If I had to see one more political ad with some forked tongue sleaze-bag politician lying to me and telling me everything that he thinks I want to hear I just might have gone insane.

All right, enough bitching, let’s talk about something fun: comic books! We are getting an average sized shipment of comic books headed to the Bunker today. We are getting a total of 11 titles. This selection of titles is heavier with Marvel titles this week.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Adventure Comics Special Guardian #1 should be a good read. I am enjoying the New Krypton story so far and I do think that it has tons of potential to be a fantastic story. And the five page teaser for this issue reveals a cameo by a minor Legion of Super Heroes member.

Final Crisis: Resist #1 should be an interesting read. I have enjoyed most of the Final Crisis tie-in issues so I expect that I will like this one as well.

However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Justice Society of America #20. Johns is cranking up the intensity on this title as the Gog story arc is heating up to a boil. Plus, we also have the JSI from Earth-2 on New Earth and looking to brawl with the JSA. I have a feeling that Justice Society of America #20 is going to be a wild read.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I am not all that pumped up to read Trinity #23. This title has not been Countdown bad, but it certainly has not been anything out of the ordinary. I expect another average read with this issue.

In the end, the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Terror Titans #2. The first issue of this issue was flat out hideous. I expect that we will get plenty of bloody killing and maiming with Terror Titans #2.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? There is only one comic book from Marvel this week that really gets me excited and that is Iron Man: End #1. C’mon, this is the ultimate Iron Man team of David Michelinie and Bob Layton teaming up once again to tell us Iron Man’s final story. Maybe Matt Fraction can take some notes on how to write Iron Man from these two masters.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I continue to find Amazing Spider-Man to be a thoroughly average read. I doubt that Amazing Spider-Man #576 will do anything to get me to change my opinion.

I am not all that excited to read Ultimatum #1. First, I am stunned that Marvel would release this “big event” while their other “big event” in Secret Invasion is still going on. It is amazing how much Marvel and DC is attempting to completely overwhelm the reader with so many “big events” at one time.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Invincible Iron Man #7. This title has been extraordinarily unimpressive. The story has been shallow, the character work completely absent and the dialogue has been cheesy and poorly crafted. I expect this issue to be nothing more than filler as we get a team-up with Spider-Man in Invincible Iron Man #7.

  1. (werehawk again)

Re: The Adventure Comics Special’s unexpected (until you said it) LSH appearance: WHOA! – But when he said wearing a ring, I forgot for a second and thought he was referring to a GL ring (there is a GL from his planet now).

    — Also nice to know that comic readers accurately reflect the general public in politics

  2. Politicians suck, but are sadly necessary. I’ll be surprised (albeit pleasantly) if Obama can pull his big plans. That said, I am optimistic about Iron Man #7 since it stars Spidey. Last time Fraction wrote Spiderman, he got an Eisner. Also, I have been enjoying Joe Kelly’s take on Hammerhead.

  3. Relax guys. Politics is the shittiest job, that’s why we put other people working on it.
