The Revolution always gets great comments for its followers. Everybody always manages to craft coherent, cogent and intelligent comments. I decided that I would start picking the quote of the week that either I found the most entertaining, thought provoking or a combination of the two.

This week, the comment of the week comes to us from hobosk8er who was commenting on my “New Comic Books for September 17, 2008” post. I was lamenting how I was in store for Winick’s Titans and Fraction’s Uncanny X-Men in the same week. I then asked the question if these two writers had ever been seen in the same room at the same time.

Hobosk8er then posted:

“What would be even weirder is if Winick and Fraction collaborated and produced a great comic book. It’s so crazy that I think it just might work. Like bananas and peanut butter.”

After reading that post, my jaw dropped slightly, and I thought “My…god…what if he is right?” And this comment stuck with me for the rest of the day.

All right, we have a huge shipment of comic books headed to the Bunker today. We are getting a total of 18 titles. This selection of titles is heavy with Marvel titles. This week’s selection of comic books has the potential to be pretty good.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Superman #680 is sure to be another solid read. Robinson has done a nice job on this title and has improved it over what we were getting on Busiek’s run on this title. I have always liked Krypto and I dig how Robinson is handling this character. I am certainly looking forward to seeing Krypto in action.

However, I had to go with Legion of Super Heroes #46 as the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading. I have enjoyed Shooter’s run since the start, but Shooter is really gotten on a roll with the past several issues. Legion of Super Heroes is up there with the JSA as one of DC’s best team titles.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Teen Titans #63. Between McKeever’s Teen Titans and Winick’s Titans, it is certainly a tough time to be a Titans fan. Right now, Tiny Titans is by far and away the best written and most entertaining Titans comic book on the market.

McKeever’s run has gotten progressively worse with each issue. And McKeever’s writing hit rock bottom with Teen Titans #62 which, quite honestly, read like nothing more than pure fanfiction.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Fantastic Four #560 should be another excellent read. Millar is doing a wonderful job on this title. I cannot wait to learn how the Hulk and his new Defenders managed to capture Galactus.

Ultimate Spider-Man #126 should be another entertaining read. For as much as I hammer Bendis for his work on New Avengers, Mighty Avengers and Secret Invasion, the fact remains that Bendis has been pure money on Ultimate Spider-Man. This is a title that Bendis was simply born to write. Bendis has made Ultimate Spider-Man one of the most consistently good reads that I have ever seen.

Wolverine: First Class #7 should be another fun issue. Van Lente has impressed me with his ability to deliver well crafted one shot and two-issue story arcs. And it is also great to read a title centered on Wolverine back when he was actually cool.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Captain America #42. Brubaker’s run on Captain America has been phenomenal. And Captain America #42 is the conclusion to this masterfully plotted story arc. I cannot wait to get my hands on this issue.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I can’t say that I am all that looking forward to the Secret Invasion tie-in issue in New Avengers #45. These tie-in issues have gotten stale and dull as Secret Invasion continues to lumber along at a slow pace.

Ultimates 3 #5 is sure to be another poor read. This title has been almost unreadable. It is stunning the drop in quality that this title took once Millar and Hitch left.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Wolverine: Origins #28. I am glad that there has been an artist change, however, Way is still unfortunately on this title. And Way has yet to impress me with a single issue during his run on this title.

As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.
