Top 10 Comic Book Moments In March 2022

March has come to close. The month was filled with a lot of great moments from the comic book world. From major events going on across the industry, such as Devil’s Reign, Shadows of the Bat, and Godzilla vs Power Rangers, to major character milestones March was a packed month. To celebrate all the great moments that comic books provided us I’ve put together my 10 favorite comic book moments from my pull list for the month of March.

DAREDEVIL: WOMAN WITHOUT FEAR #3

Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3

One of the many things that Chip Zdarsky has done an excellent job with during his Daredevil run is maturing the relationship between Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios. There is so much history between the two that they were in a constant on-again-off-again relationship for decades. A lot of that had to do with their respective lives pulling them apart along with questionable decisions by both at various points. But now after everything they’ve both gone through individually and together it seems like they are ready to have a permanent, mature relationship. This scene shows that very fact as they’ve both gotten to the point where they both accept each other’s history that what would normally break any comic book couple apart with Elektra revealing the truth about why they met actually strengthens their bond. Hopefully this time even as they are likely to go on missions alone being a  couple is something that is their permanent status quo.

GODZILLA VS MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #1

Godzilla vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 Moment

When it comes to dream matches Godzilla vs Dragonzord is at the top. This is a fight that fans could only dream of but now we got. The epic scale of the battle is perfectly captured by Freddie Williams captures how larger than life both Godzilla and the Green Ranger’s Dragonzord are. The framing of this double page spread adds to the epic scale as the Green Ranger looks like a small ant when these two Titans face off. The fight that we got after this did not disappoint as it added even greater excitement for how Godzilla vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will go from this epic start to the series.

IMMORTAL X-MEN #1

Immortal X-Men #1 Moment

Throughout the Krakoa Era we’ve seen Charles Xavier and Magneto basically have full reign as dual-Kings of what they created with Moira McTaggart. But as of Inferno all the secret things Xavier and Magneto did to maintain control has been learned by the Quiet Council. So it is no surprise that now they are facing the consequences to all the actions they have taken. And as we see here there is absolutely no sympathy to be had when Magneto decides to step down from his position on the Quiet Council. Emma Frost leading this sentiment further pushes her rise to have greater power within Krakoa which is certainly needed as this era of the X-Men franchise evolves. Everything Emma says to Magneto comes from a real place and just further drives home how Erik has a lot self-growth ahead of him.

NIGHTWING #90

Nightwing #90 Moment

My favorite friendship in comics is Dick Grayson and Wally West. These two have always been best friends since their early days as Robin and Kid Flash. Unfortunately due to various reasons we haven’t seen their friendship explored over the last two decades. Which does lead to when we do actually see them interact as friends and team-up as Nightwing and Flash even more special. That is exactly the case in Nightwing #90 as we see with Wally showing great concern for Dick as assassins continue to come after him. Seeing Wally not hesitate to bring Dick back home in order to provide him his first good night of rest is what you expect a best friend to do.

SHADOW WAR: ALPHA #1

Shadow War: Alpha #1 Moment

If Bruce Wayne was entering the “Worst Father Of The Year” category for award season he makes a strong case to win that award with what he says to his son, Damian Wayne, here. This comes right after it looked like Bruce was ready to be the father Damian needs after he has had to see his two grandfathers assassinated in front of his eyes. But rather than be a supportive dad Bruce does not hesitate to call out the fact he would’ve saved Alfred Pennyworth if he was in Damian’s spot. It’s a terrible thing to say that summarizes the current state of Bruce and Damian’s relationship. Hopefully as Shadow War progresses we do see their father-son relationship repaired.

SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #9

Superman: Son Of Kal-El #9 Moment

Having become Superman recently it would be easy to forget how quickly Brian Bendis and DC Comics aged Jon Kent’s character to his current age of 18 years old. It is one of the most questionable and divisive creative decisions that DC Comics has allowed to be made for one of their characters. That said, credit Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo using how Jon’s childhood was stolen from him to create this meaningful moment between Jon Kent and Dick Grayson. Seeing Dick Grayson step up to be the big brother figure he is known to be by offering to be Jon’s mentor and Jon happily accepting he offer was as heartwarming of a moment you’ll get.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #127

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #127 Moment

Something Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans have settled on never happening is seeing Venus de Milo, the fifth Turtle seen in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, in any new comic book, animated, or live action adaption of TMNT. Its been long known by the TMNT fanbase that franchise creator Peter Laird did not like Venus’ character whatsoever so there was a mandate in place she could never be used in anything after her appearance in The Next Mutation. But now that looks to have all changed as we got Venus de Milo finally reintroduced back into the TMNT franchise with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #127. Though it looks like Sophie Campbell is going with more of a Frankenstein’s monster approach for IDW’s version of Venus character. How this impacts her status quo when Venus meets the other five Ninja Turtles will be interesting to see.

THOR #23

Thor #23 Moment

The invincibility of Mjolnir has been broken through various means. What makes this time much more meaningful is that it is Thor himself that chooses to break Mjolnir. While this is done to finish off the God of Hammers the significance is much more than that. It seems that Thor is finally ready to move on from relying on his father’s power, including Mjolnir, and using his own power as All-Father of Asgard. Which is further emphasized by his new God form that channels the Thorforce rather than the Odinforce.

WONDER WOMAN #785

Wonder Woman #785 Moment

With Donna Troy, Yara Flor, and Philippus being declared the Champions of the three different Amazonian Tribes to compete in the Trial of the Amazons that left Wonder Woman the odd person out. It looks like Wonder Woman found a way around the rules by declaring herself as not part of any Amazonian Tribe instead the Champion of all Amazons. That is a big statement for Diana to make, especially in front of her three other competitors. Even before the Trial of the Amazon begins a hierarchy has been established. Now it’ll be interesting to see how Donna, Yara, and Philippus respond.

X-MEN #9

X-Men #9 Moment

If you ever wonder how not to get on your future mother-in-law’s good side then use Gambit as the example as he continues to make no effort to get Destiny to like him. Instead he makes the canyon between him and Destiny even bigger as he throws a massive diss out at her parenting style. At least Rogue loves him enough that Gambit having a tense relationship with her moms doesn’t impact their marriage.
