Much like anyone in their mid-twenties Mary Jane Watson has been wandering around following different career paths. Finally after doing a bunch of different things MJ has rediscovered her love for acting. This sets her up nicely to breakout on her own again for her upcoming Amazing Mary Jane solo series.

BATMAN #74

One of the character traits that is not spoken about very much is how Batman is someone filled with hope. No matter how difficult or dark things get Batman cannot let go of believing that he can overcome everything and create a better future for Gotham City. Even when he has given up Bruce comes back as Batman with the hope he can make a difference.

This is by far one of the best moments Alfred Pennyworth has had. Alfred straight up telling Flashpoint Thomas Wayne he knows Bruce best was fantastic. Now there is this other war of Bruce’s fathers going on during “City of Bane.”

BATMAN: LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH #2

July was a month that started and ended with Batman talking about how he cannot give up. No matter the continuity Batman just can’t help but push forward. Seems like it is one of the reasons Wonder Woman loves him.

BLACK CAT #2

Nothing can resist the charms of Black Cat. Not even a snake. That is her second super power and it may be even more powerful than her Bad Luck power.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #12

Since Steve Rogers passed the shield down to Sam Wilson in Endgame it looks like the comic book version decided to do something similar. This time he is giving up being Captain America and going back to the Super Soldier identity he had for a short time when Bucky was Captain America.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #8

Just as Captain Marvel’s popularity was skyrocketing Carol Danvers is now facing the major obstacle of a hot, new hero in town. Captain Marvel will need to step her game up against Star.

CATWOMAN #13

There is absolutely no escaping the beating that Catwoman will dish out on bad guys.

DAREDEVIL #8

Talk about uncomfortable for Matt Murdock having to talk to the detective that kicked his ass and forced him to give up on being Daredevil due to his actions.

DCEASED #3

One of the most heartbreaking Superman scenes. Such a great story told in this one scene with how Superman just had to let go of his emotional attachment in order to make sure the zombie version of his father did not run wild and attack others.

GO GO POWER RANGERS #21

This was a great emotional note to explain why Tommy Oliver takes a break while he was the Green Ranger during the beginning of Lord Zed’s appearances. Shows how deep of a relationship Tommy and Kimberly share that Tommy had to tell her not to ask him to stay.

THE GREEN LANTERN #9

Just love this shot for the Green Lantern that is just holding a flashlight for his GLC ring.

HOUSE OF X #1

This is one of those “drop the mic” moments by Cyclops that the Fantastic Four can’t do anything but watch him walk away.

INVISIBLE WOMAN #1

Nick Fury Jr. is really fooling himself thinking he could possibly stop Invisible Woman. She would annihilate him if she wanted to. Jr. needs to talk to his dad more about how to handle conversations with superheroes.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #13

This is a great job by Wonder Woman to get over how much Doctor Fate can help the Justice League Dark as he is one of the strongest magicians in the DC Universe.

LOIS LANE #1

You would think politicians would know better because Lois Lane will come with the tough questions whether they like what is asked or not. And getting on Lois’ bad side is not good for their political career either. Just some advice for them.

MARVEL TEAM-UP #4

Well this was a very unexpected return of Mar-Vell. He has been gone for a long time and looks like that time away has not been the best for him.

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #41

Love how the Omega Rangers morphing sequence had an anime power-up look to it. Looked like they were transforming into Power Ranger versions of a Super Saiyan.

POWERS OF X #1

There is a unique energy to seeing Charles Xavier, Magneto and Mystique sharing a scene together. Especially with Professor Xavier’s X-Men helmet there was a different vibe to this scene that you know something big is going down.

SPIDER-GWEN: GHOST SPIDER #10

Even though they’ve crossed paths a lot it has been very rare to see Peter Parker’s Spider-Man interact with Spider-Gwen. This scene, and issue as a whole, showed that these two have a great chemistry with each other. And going down the mentor-protege route would be a cool change for the relationship between Peter and Gwen.

SPIDER-MAN: LIFE STORY #5

Tony Stark’s greatest enemy has always been his own ego. Spider-Man proves that as he takes out Iron Man and the Avengers, all wearing Iron Man gear, with one move.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #95

Jennika has been developed as a great character thus far. Making her the first female turtle in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a very cool surprise. A lot of potential in where Jennika can go from here.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #96

That potential for Jennika was quickly shown in the next issue as we see Casey Jones’ react to her becoming a female turtle. The heartbreak in Jennika’s face with how Casey acted around her shows that there will be a lot of potential character development from her becoming the first female turtle.

UNCANNY X-MEN #22

Matthew Rosenberg’s run on Uncanny X-Men quickly dovetailed the be just about unreadable. That said, we at least got this fun image of Cyclops and Jean Grey making out right in front of Wolverine and Emma Frost. There was at least this positive to say about Rosenberg’s run.

VALKYRIE: JANE FOSTER #1

Click for full-page view

Brunnhilde does a great job summarizing to Jane Foster what the difference is between being Thor: God of Thunder and a Valkyrie. This shows that Jane can’t just simply act like she did as Thor. Being a Valkyrie, especially the last one, means a lot more in terms of the role she serves within the Marvel Universe.
