The Battle for the Top 10

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 1-10 range typically sell in the 11,000-3,000 unit range.

DC Comics took first place with a stunning seven graphic novels in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the five graphic novels that DC Comics had in the Top 10 in June 2025.

Four of DC Comics’ seven graphic novels are from the Superman franchise. I have never seen any real sales bump in the sale of monthly floppies in connection with a new movie. However, this increase in Superman franchise graphic novel sales certainly seems tied to the new Superman movie. We shall see how long this sales bump lasts.

Two of the seven DC Comics graphic novels are from the Batman franchise.

DC Comics continues to rely on old comic books to power its Top 10 success. Only two of the seven DC Comics graphic novels were published within the past six years. All the other graphic novels are from anywhere from ten to almost thirty years old.

Six of the seven DC Comics graphic novels are from the DC Compact Comics line.

IDW Publishing tied for second place with one graphic novel in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero graphic novels that IDW Publishing had in the Top 10 in June 2025.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin II–Re-Evolution HC scored the number 7 spot.

Marvel Comics placed one graphic novel in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were flat from the one graphic novel that Marvel Comics had in the Top 10 in June 2025.

This is the second consecutive brutal Top 10 performance for Marvel Comics. This is an embarrassing showing for the House of the Mouse.

The sole Marvel Comics graphic novel in the Top 10 was Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 Married With Children at the number 9 spot. Peter Parker saves Marvel Comics from total embarrassment by avoiding a shutout in the Top 10.

Image Comics placed one graphic novel in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were down from the three graphic novels that Image Comics had in the Top 10 in June 2025.

Grommets Vol. 1 took the number 5 spot.

The Battle for the Top 25

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 11-25 range typically sell in the 3,000 to 2,000 unit range.

DC Comics placed twelve graphic novels in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the nine graphic novels that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2025.

Old comics continue to drive success for DC Comics in the Top 25. Only three of the twelve DC Comics graphic novels are from the past six years. The other nine DC Comics graphic novels are from anywhere from ten to forty years ago.

Nine of the twelve DC Comics graphic novels are from the DC Compact Comics line.

Image Comics placed six graphic novels in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the nine graphic novels that Image Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2025.

Two of the six Image Comics graphic novels are from the Hasbro franchise. Two of the six Image Comics graphic novels are from the Invincible franchise.

IDW Publishing placed three graphic novels in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the two graphic novels that IDW Publishing had in the Top 25 in June 2025.

Marvel Comics placed three comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the four graphic novels that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2025.

One of the three Marvel Comics graphic novels came from the Marvel Premier Collection line.

Bad Idea placed one graphic novel in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero graphic novels that Bad Idea had in the Top 25 in June 2025.

The Battle for the Top 50

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 26-50 range typically sell in the 1,900 to 1,000 unit range.

DC Comics placed seventeen graphic novels in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the eleven graphic novels that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2025.

Only three of the seventeen DC Comics graphic novels in the Top 50 are from the past six years. This continues to be a serious problem for DC Comics, as the only comics in the past six years that have clicked with the consumer have been from the Absolute Universe.

Twelve of the seventeen DC Comics graphic novels are from the DC Compact Comics line. The DC Compact Comics have been a huge hit for DC Comics, as readers cannot get enough of this line.

Image Comics placed fourteen graphic novels in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were down from the eighteen graphic novels that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2025.

Six of the fourteen Image Comics graphic novels are from the Invincible franchise. Three of the fourteen Image Comics graphic novels are from the Hasbro franchise.

Marvel Comics placed eight graphic novels in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were down sharply from the thirteen graphic novels that Marvel Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2025.

Only two of the eight Marvel Comics graphic novels are from the Marvel Premier Collection line.

The Battle for the Top 75

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 51-75 range typically sell in the 1,000 to 900 unit range.

DC Comics placed twenty-nine graphic novels in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up by a wide margin from the seventeen graphic novels that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in June 2025.

DC Comics is just a ball of fire at the moment. I was impressed by their sales numbers for June 2025. However, the sales numbers for the Distinguished Competition are just phenomenal for July 2025. DC Comics is all gas and no brakes these days.

Sixteen of the twenty-nine DC Comics graphic novels are from the DC Compact Comics line.

Image Comics placed sixteen graphic novels in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the twenty-two graphic novels that Image Comics had in the Top 75 in June 2025.

Marvel Comics placed fifteen graphic novels in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the twenty graphic novels that Marvel Comics had in the Top 75 in June 2025. Marvel Comics should be embarrassed that it cannot even muscle past Image Comics in the Battle for the Top 75.

Only three of the fifteen Marvel Comics graphic novels are from the Marvel Premier Collection line. The Marvel Premier Collection is not even close to the level of hotness that is the DC Compact Comics.
