May 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings

May 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings

It is time to check out the May 2025 comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier in terms of actual unit numbers. So, we must settle for going to ICv2 for their Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we must work with what we get.

Keep in mind that the Top 200 sales rankings are based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub system at over 125 local comic book shops selling American comics. These sales rankings represent sales to consumers by local comic shops.

We all know that these ICv2 sales charts, based on the ComicHub system, are not the most accurate. However, as long as publishers hide their sales statistics, this is the best that we have to go by. You can see that these sales charts provide a rough indication of the market, as titles that are canceled tend to correspond with low sales rankings in these ComicHub charts. I wish we had better data to analyze, but we have to make do with whatever data we have these days.

The data for the May 2025 comic book sales rankings was collected based on a five-week month, from May 4 to May 31, 2025.

You can go over to ICv2 and check out the Top 50 for May 2025 for free, or opt for a pro membership (It is well worth the money) and get the Top 200 for May 2025, and then come back here for a detailed analysis of the May 2025 comic book sales rankings!

Invincible Universe Battle Beast #1 muscled past Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, the Ultimate Universe, and the Absolute Universe to take the coveted number 1 spot. That is amazing. I thought this issue would do well, but I didn’t see it taking the number one spot in the May 2025 sales rankings.

The Battle for the Top 25

Speaking of the Absolute Universe, six of the nine DC Comics issues in the Top 25 were from the Absolute Universe.

Marvel Comics finally flexed its muscles and put DC Comics in the dirt with the battle for the Top 50. Having said that, the numbers in the Top 50 were down compared to a year ago and two years ago. So, Marvel Comics is still seeing some softening in its Top 50 dominance.

DC Comics placed fifteen comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were down from the twenty comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in April 2025.

It is phenomenal and quite rare to see a resolicited issue from a tiny comic book publisher scoring a Top 50 finish. It is amazing how hot the Mark Spears Monsters comic has been.

The Battle for the Top 75

Captain Planet and the Planeteers #1 had a nice debut, taking the number 68 spot. This is another franchise from the early 1990s that I have fond memories of. Dynamite Entertainment has had a lot of success with the various 1960s to 1980s toy and cartoon licenses that they have collected. It looks like they may have yet another successful license on their hands.

Star Wars #1 had a solid debut, taking the number 16 spot. This will be an interesting title to track. On the positive side, this title stars the characters that fans actually care about in Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. However, on the negative side, Alex Segura is the writer of this new title. Segura has never had any sales success. Also, the Star Wars franchise has been struggling in the sales charts for the past two years.

I am not sure if there are many Star Wars fans left who are going to support this title despite the original trilogy characters. Therefore, I would expect this title to be outside of the Top 25 by the second issue and out of the Top 50 by the fourth issue.

Star Wars: Jedi Knights #3 plummeted from the number 42 spot to the number 81 spot. I predicted that this title would drop out of the Top 50 this month. However, it went even further by dropping out of the Top 75. I would expect this title to be out of the Top 100 with the next issue. This title debuted at the number 27 spot and has cratered in the Top 100 like all Star Wars titles have done in the past few years.

Star Wars: The Legacy of Vader #4 fell from the number 75 spot to the number 117 spot. This title debuted at the number 19 spot, and is already outside of the Top 100 with just the fourth issue.

Star Wars: The High Republic- Fear of the Jedi #4 fell from the number 181 spot and dropped out of the Top 200 and went unranked. This ended the one-month aberration of being ranked in the Top 200.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #4 went unranked for the third straight month. Brutal. Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm continue to combine to deliver comics that nobody was asking for.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents #3 was unranked for the second straight month.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #18 went unranked for the zillionth straight month. The High Republic continues to be a massive failure.

137 Spectacular Spider-Men #15

147 Eddie Brock Carnage #4

156 Venom: Original Sin #1

Unranked: Spider-Boy #19

The Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and eleven comics in the Top 50. This was down in the Top 10, but up in the Top 25 and up in the Top 50 than in April 2025, when the Spider-Man franchise had four comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and up in the Top 50, as the Spider-Man franchise had four comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Spider-Man franchise had four comics in the Top 10, nine comics in the Top 25, and thirteen comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Spider-Man franchise had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in May 2022.

Let’s start with the main man himself: Peter Parker.

Amazing Spider-Man #3 took the number 6 spot, and Amazing Spider-Man #4 took the number 14 spot.

This was worse than April 2025, when Amazing Spider-Man #1 took the number 1 spot and Amazing Spider-Man #2 took the number 9 spot.

Spider-Man & Wolverine #1 had an average debut, taking the number 22 spot. This was lower than I anticipated, given the star power on this title.

Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse #1 had an unimpressive debut, taking the number 29 spot. This five-issue mini-series should be outside of the Top 50 with the second issue.

Predator vs. Spider-Man #2 fell from the number 11 spot to the number 30 spot. That was a larger drop than I anticipated, given the excellent debut number and the popularity of these two franchises.

Spectacular Spider-Men #15 dropped from the number 90 spot to the number 137 spot. This title’s one-month stint outside of the Dead Titles Walking category came to a fast end.

Let’s hop over to the knock-off Spider-Man comics.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #33 climbed from the number 148 spot to the number 96 spot. Marvel shipped two issues of this title in April 2025. This title is still off the pace of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #31, which took the number 78 spot.

Spider-Boy #19 fell from the number 198 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. This title has had zero reader interest over the past several issues.

Let’s check out the Venomverse.

All-New Venom #6 ticked up from the number 39 spot to the number 32 spot. This title remains a solid Top 50 seller.

Eddie Brock Carnage #4 plummeted from the number 78 spot to the number 147 spot. Wow. That was a bigger drop than I expected.

Venom: Original Sin #1 had an awful debut, taking the number 156 spot.

Let’s wrap things up with the ladies of the Spider-Man franchise.

Gwenpool #1 had an unimpressive debut, failing to even make the Top 25 and taking the Top 27 spot. I am not bullish on this title at all. First, I think the Gwenpool gimmick has run its course. Second, a debut outside of the Top 25 usually indicates that the title will drop quickly in the sales rankings. Third, Cavan Scott is the writer of this title. Scott is a novelist who has no business writing mainstream superhero comic books. Every title written by Scott has gotten horrendous sales numbers. I would expect this title to crash and burn in the sales rankings.

Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #13 dropped from the number 91 spot to the number 122 spot. This ended Spider-Gwen’s one-month stint outside of the Dead Titles Walking category. This is what we expect from a Stephanie Phillips title.

163 Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 (Resolictiation)

192 Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #2

Unranked: Cable: Love and Chrome #5

The X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and eleven comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10 and Top 25, but up in the Top 50 from April 2025, when the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a wide margin in the Top 10 and Top 25; however, numbers were flat in the Top 50. In May 2024, the X-Men franchise had three comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and eleven comics in the Top 50.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the X-Men franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Numbers were flat in the Top 10, but up in the Top 25 and Top 50 from two years ago, as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and nine comics in the Top 50 in May 2022.

Godzilla Vs. X-Men #1 had an excellent debut, taking the number 11 spot.

Let’s check out the three “flagship titles.”

X-Men #16 climbed from the number 20 spot to the number 17 spot. This is the same spot in the rankings that X-Men #13 took in March 2025.

Uncanny X-Men #14 fell from the number 14 spot to the number 25 spot. This is the lowest spot in the rankings we have seen this title since its debut. This is also the fifth consecutive month this title has sold outside of the Top 10.

Uncanny X-Men #15 fell from the number 25 spot to the number 43 spot. Welp, this is now the lowest that we have seen this title in the sales rankings. To give this some perspective, in March 2025, Marvel Comics also shipped two issues of Uncanny X-Men. Uncanny X-Men #11 took the number 14 spot, and Uncanny X-Men #12 took the number 22 spot. This title has dramatically fallen off in the sales rankings.

Given all of the above, it is safe to say that the days of this title being a Top 10 seller are over. It is also interesting to note that X-Men beat Uncanny X-Men in the sales chart for the first time, despite Uncanny X-Men being the crown jewel of the X-Men franchise.

Exceptional X-Men #9 plummeted from the number 46 spot to the number 94 spot. Of the three flagship titles, Exceptional X-Men has always been the weakest seller. However, that gap is now getting massively pronounced between Exceptional X-Men and the other two flagship titles. This is zero surprise given that Marvel Comics hired a sociology teacher with a history of sales failures to write a mainstream superhero comic book. I would expect this to be a Dead Title Walking soon enough. This title remains a terrible read.

Giant-Size X-Men #1 had an average debut, taking the number 28 spot.

X-Factor #10 fell from the number 83 spot to the number 116 spot. With this issue, X-Factor has concluded. Mark Russell predictably struggled to have any sales success on this title.

Weapon X-Men #4 dropped from the number 110 spot to the number 135 spot. This title cannot escape the Dead Titles Walking category.

Let’s hop over to the duo titles.

Deadpool/Wolverine #5 fell from the number 64 spot to the number 93 spot. With this issue, this five-issue limited series has concluded. This title was a sales disappointment given the massive star power of Deadpool and Wolverine. It appears that we have hit an oversaturation point with these two characters, and readers just are not interested in more.

Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #2 crashed and burned, falling from the number 51 spot to the number 192 spot. That is brutal. I expected a big drop in the rankings given the weak debut number. However, I did not expect this title to almost drop out of the sales rankings!

Let’s check out the dudes of the X-Men franchise.

Wolverine #9 fell from the number 16 spot to the number 39 spot. This is the first time Saladin Ahmed’s title has sold outside of the Top 25. Marvel Comics does not want to see this title outside of the Top 25. It will be interesting to see if this is a momentary blip or a sign of sales troubles ahead.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #2 dropped from the number 34 spot to the number 51 spot. That is a much smaller drop than I expected, given the unimpressive debut number.

Deadpool #14 climbed from the number 135 spot to the number 92 spot. Marvel Comics shipped two issues in March 2025, which explains Deadpool #13’s low ranking. Deadpool #14 is still off the pace of Deadpool #12, which took the number 75 spot. Cody Ziglar and his idea for two Deadpools are struggling to retain readership interest.

Cable: Love and Chrome #5 fell from the number 162 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. With this issue, this five-issue mini-series has concluded. This title was a total sales failure.

Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the X-Men franchise.

Magik #5 plummeted from the number 24 spot to the number 41 spot. This is the first time this total has sold outside of the Top 25. This could be a sign of a steady decline in sales for this title. I am not surprised. Peralta’s artwork has been phenomenal. But art cannot carry a title alone. Ashley Allne is a no-name writer who has not been that impressive so far.

Storm #8 fell from the number 39 spot to the number 50 spot. This is by far the lowest this title has sold up to this point. We shall see if Storm can remain a Top 50 seller next month.

Psylocke #7 climbed from the number 100 spot to the number 52 spot. This rebound is because Marvel Comics shipped two issues of Psylocke in March 2025. Psylocke #7 is still off the pace of the number 37 ranking that Psylocke #5 had in March 2025. Next month will be critical in terms of Psylocke being able to sneak back into the Top 50 or if it is going to continue its sales decline.

Laura Kinney: Wolverine #6 fell from the number 53 spot to the number 66 spot. We shall see if this title can remain a consistent Top 75 seller going forward.

Phoenix #11 ticked up from the number 73 spot to the number 72 spot. This is the same spot in the rankings that Phoenix #9 had in March 2025. This title keeps hanging on by its fingernails to the Top 75.

Rogue The Savage Land #5 dropped from the number 47 spot to the number 85 spot. Ouch! That was a larger drop than I anticipated! Up until this month, Rogue had been a constant Top 50 seller. We shall see if this title can rebound next month or if it is doomed to slip into the Dead Titles Walking category.

Avengers Franchise

24 Ultimates #12

37 Incredible Hulk #25

48 Vision & the Scarlet Witch #1

166 Hulk & Doctor Strange #1

187 Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #3 (Doom) (Resolictiation)

Unranked: Sam Wilson: Captain America #5

Unranked: Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special #1

The Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to April 2025, when the Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down, as the Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Avengers franchise had two comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in May 2022.

West Coast Avengers #7 rebounded from the number 103 spot to the number 64 spot. Wow! I did not see such a large rebound headed our way. I am not sure if the sale rebound or the fact that West Coast Avengers outsold Avengers is more surprising.

Avengers #26 fell from the number 40 spot to the number 89 spot. Woah! This is a massive, unexpected drop. Avengers is usually a lock for the Top 50. This is the lowest we have seen this title in the sales rankings. Maybe this is just a one-month aberration, but some alarm bells should be going off at Marvel Comics.

Superior Avengers #2 plummeted from the number 41 spot to the number 98 spot. No surprise here, given the weak debut sales ranking for this title last month. This six-issue limited series seems doomed to be a Dead Title Walking soon.

Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #4 climbed from the number 131 spot to the number 91 spot. Thunderbolts: Doomstrike #5 fell from the number 91 spot to the number 128 spot. This title continues to struggle.

Let’s slide over to the due titles.

Vision & the Scarlet Witch #1 had an awful debut at the number 48 spot. I am not surprised, given that Steve Orlando is the writer, and he rarely has any sales success. I am unsure why Marvel Comics seems so fixated on shoving Orlando onto their mainstream superhero titles.

Hulk & Doctor Strange #1 had a brutal debut at the number 166 spot. There was no reader interest in this JMS-penned one-shot.

Let’s wrap up with the dudes of the Avengers franchise.

Iron Man #8 fell from the number 59 spot to the number 78 spot. Mr. Emma Frost continues to struggle to have any sustained and consistent sales success.

Red Hulk #4 ticked up from the number 101 spot to the number 95 spot.

Sam Wilson: Captain America #5 fell from the number 158 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. Welp, it only took five issues for this mistake of a title to become unranked. And this issue shipped in the first week of May 2025, too. Brutal.

This is another example of the stark disconnect that exists between Marvel Comics Editorial and its consumers. Marvel Comics is obsessed with the concept of Sam as Captain America despite there being zero interest from their consumers in this concept.

Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special #1 has an epically awful debut, failing to even make the Top 200 and going unranked. Again, this is just another example of what we discussed above. Marvel Comics cannot read the room.

Fantastic Four Franchise

171 Fantastic Four Facsimile Edition #48

176 Doom’s Division #2 (Doom) (Resolictiation)

185 Doom’s Division #3 (Doom)

The Fantastic Four franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to April 2025, when the Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.

Fantastic Four #32 ticked up from the number 36 spot to the number 34 spot.

Doom Academy #4 fell from the number 113 spot to the number 131 spot. Doom Academy #3 then fell to the number 167 spot. No-name writer Mackenzie Cadenhead continues to hemorrhage readers at a rapid pace. I have no idea why Marvel Comics editorial would have greenlit this title in the first place.

Doom’s Division #3 plummeted from the number 122 spot to the number 185 spot. Wow. Doom Division #1 debuted at the number 50 spot. What a rapid drop in just two months. I might be the only Tiger Division fan in the entire world.

The Thing #1 had a horrendous debut at the number 82 spot. That is painful. This five-issue mini-series looks like it’s doomed to be a Dead Title Walking in short order.

The Ultimate Universe

4 Ultimate Wolverine #5

7 Ultimate Spider-Man #16 (Resolictiation)

15 Ultimate Spider-Man #17

24 Ultimates #12

31 Ultimate X-Men #15

61 Ultimate Black Panther #16

138 Ultimate Wolverine #4 (Resolictiation)

The Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, but improved in the Top 25 and Top 50 compared to April 2025, when the Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were flat in the Top 10, but up in the Top 25 and Top 50, as the Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Ultimate Wolverine #5 ticked up from the number 5 spot to the number 4 spot. This title remains a sales monster.

Ultimate Spider-Man #17 dropped from the number 10 spot to the number 15 spot. This is the first time we have seen this title sell outside of the Top 10.

Ultimates #12 fell from the number 17 spot to the number 24 spot. This is the second straight month this title has dropped in the rankings. This is also the lowest sales ranking for this title. It looks like this title is finally losing some of its sales mojo.

Ultimate X-Men #15 rebounded from the number 59 spot to the number 31 spot. This title shipped two issues in March 2025. Ultimate X-Men #15 is close to the number 32 ranking that Ultimate X-Men #13 scored.

Ultimate Black Panther #16 fell from the number 56 spot to the number 61 spot. This is normal as this title continues to bob up and down between the 50s and 60s in the sales rankings.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Batman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in May 2022.

The Batman franchise is Bruce Wayne. Period. Remember when DC Comics thought they could replace Bruce Wayne and the Batman franchise would be just fine? Remember when DC Comics thought the “Batman Family” concept would lead to great sales. Yeah, it was idiotic thinking at the time and remains so now.

The top 8 selling Batman franchise titles all star Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne stars in ten of the top 11 selling Batman franchise titles. The highest-selling non-Bruce Wayne title is Batgirl #7, all the way down at the unimpressive number 80 spot.

Let’s start things with the Bruce Wayne titles.

Batman #160 fell from the number 3 spot to the number 12 spot. That was an unexpected drop in the rankings and the first time this title has sold out of the Top 10 since Jeph Loeb took over the title.

Batman Superman World’s Finest #39 dropped from the number 35 spot to the number 47 spot.

Detective Comics #1097 dropped from the number 31 spot to the number 55 spot. This is even lower than Detective Comics #1095, which took the number 52 spot. Tom Taylor continues to struggle to keep this title in the Top 50.

Batman Dark Patterns #6 fell from the number 67 spot to the number 88 spot. This is roughly the same spot in the rankings that Batman Dark Patterns #4 had in March 2025 when it took the number 89 spot.

Batman and Robin Year One #7 dropped from the number 68 spot to the number 76 spot. I predicted that this title was going to slide out of the Top 75 this month. The big question is whether this twelve-issue mini-series can remain in the Top 100 until its conclusion.

Batman and Robin #21 dropped from the number 99 spot to the number 127 spot. This is almost where Batman and Robin #19 was when it took the number 126 spot in March 2025. Welp. That ended this title’s one-month reprieve from the Dead Titles Walking category.

Nightwing #126 crashed from the number 71 spot to the number 108 spot. Ouch. This ends Nightwing’s run in the Top 100. It is grim news for DC Comics that this title is now a Dead Title Walking.

Let’s now check out the ladies of the Batman franchise.

Batgirl #7 rebounded from the number 174 spot to the number 80 spot. This was expected as Batgirl shipped two issues in March 2025. This ranking is better than Batgirl #5, which took the number 91 spot. This title has no shot of sneaking back into the Top 75. But, perhaps this comic might be able to remain a Top 100 seller?

Poison Ivy #33 fell from the number 99 spot to the number 109 spot. This ended this title’s one-month report from the Dead Titles Walking category.

Birds of Prey #21 climbed back into the Top 200 and took the number 140 spot. This title continues to be doomed to stalk the Dead Title Walking category. Absolute Wonder Woman continues to be the anomaly for Kelly Thompson.

Catwoman #76 fell from the number 119 spot to the number 179 spot. It is mind-boggling that DC Comics managed to find a new writer in Torun Grønbekk who is just as unpopular as Tini Howard. This title seems cursed by DC Comics editorial’s dumb decisions.

Harley Quinn #51 fell from the number 127 spot and out of the Top 200, ending up unranked. This is another title where it is dumbfounding that DC Comics managed to replace Tini Howard with a writer as equally unpopular. This title is completely snake-bitten. Hiring another TV writer to write a mainstream superhero comic book has blown up in DC Comics’ face. Imagine that.

Two-Face #6 went unranked for the second consecutive month. This six-issue mini-series has now concluded. This title was a total sales disaster.

Superman Franchise

3 Absolute Superman #7

18 Superman Unlimited #1

19 Supergirl #1

47 Batman Superman World’s Finest #39 (We Are Yesterday)

97 Superman #26

113 Action Comics #1086

177 Superman #25 (Resolictiation)

195 Summer of Superman Special #1 (One-Shot) (Resolictiation)

198 Absolute Superman #6 (Resolictiation)

The Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10 and Top 25, but flat in the Top 50 than in April 2025, when the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in May 2022.

Things are looking awful for the Superman franchise. If you take out the one Absolute Universe title and the title co-starring Bruce Wayne, then the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. Particularly worrisome is how the two flagship titles for the Superman franchise are selling.

Superman Unlimited #1 had a solid debut, taking the number 18 spot. I would expect this title to be out of the Top 25 with the next issue. We shall see if this title has the legs to stay in the Top 50. Dan Slott is the writer of this title, so I am not bullish about this title’s long-term sales success.

Superman #26 plummeted from the number 32 spot to the number 97 spot. This is alarming. This title has now sold outside of the Top 50 in five of the past six issues. This should be totally unacceptable for DC Comics.

Action Comics #1086 dropped from the number 84 spot to the number 113 spot. G. Willow Wilson has been a bust on this title. This title has been in the Dead Titles Walking category for two of the past three issues. This is no reason that a title of this pedigree should ever be trapped in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Supergirl #1 had a solid but nothing special debut at the number 19 spot. This debut should indicate this title being outside of the Top 25 with the next issue. Sophie Campbell is the writer of this new title. And that is why I am not bullish at all about this new Supergirl title.

Campbell has never had any sales success before and piledrove the Teenage Mutant Ninja franchise into the earth’s crust. It was so bad that it looked like IDW would lose the TMNT license, much like they lost the GI Joe and Transformers licenses. Campbell has no business writing a mainstream superhero comic book. This is another example of DC Comics making decisions that seem utterly baffling.

The Justice League franchise had two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50. This was worse than April 2025, when the Justice League franchise had three comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Justice League franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in May 2022.

The state of the Justice League franchise is atrocious. If you remove the Absolute Universe titles, the Justice League franchise has zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This is brutal, and DC Comics should be in a state of panic.

Justice League Unlimited #7 fell from the number 21 spot to the number 46 spot. This is the first time this title has sold outside of the Top 25.

Justice League The Atom Project #5 climbed back into the Top 200 and took the number 182 spot. This six-issue mini-series will be lucky to conclude in the Top 200.

JSA #7 rebounded from the number 179 spot up to the number 118 spot. This is because JSA shipped two issues in March 2025. JSA #7 is still off the pace of JSA #5, which took the number 114 spot. JSA has now had three consecutive issues in the Dead Titles Walking category. This title may be doomed to remain here from now on. I am not that surprised. While the JSA franchise has an excellent pedigree, the roster assembled for this title is questionable at best.

Secret Six #3 managed to barely sneak back into the Top 200 and take the number 193 spot. What a spectacular sales disaster this title has been right out of the gate. We all saw this coming once DC Comics announced Hollywood actor Nicole Maines would be the writer. Maines has never had a sales success. Honestly, I have no idea why DC Comics would ever think Maines would be qualified to write mainstream superhero comic books for one of the two biggest comics publishers in the world. It begs the question of whether DC Comics even has hiring standards when it comes to hiring writers.

Aquaman #5 fell from the number 79 spot to the number 119 spot. Wow! That is a huge drop in the rankings that I did not see coming. DC Comics continues to struggle with building up its characters outside of Bruce Wayne and the Absolute Universe. There is no reason that Aquaman should not be a consistent Top 75 seller.

Mr Terrific Year One #1 had a horrendous debut at the number 130 spot. Brutal. This six-issue mini-series runs the risk of being able to conclude ranked in the Top 200. I am not surprised, given that DC Comics hired Al Letson to be the writer of this comic. Letson is a podcaster and radio host. What are his qualifications that make him fit to write a mainstream superhero comic book for the second-largest American comic book company? I have no clue. Again, these bizarre hiring decisions by DC Comics constantly blow up in its face.

The Flash #21 plummeted from the number 130 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. The Flash has now been unranked in two of the past three issues. This is unacceptable for a franchise with the pedigree of the Flash. DC Comics should be embarrassed.

The decision to depower Barry Allen and hire Simon Spurrier to write this title has completely backfired on DC Comics. Barry Allen needs to be brought back and paired with a new writer ASAP. There is no excuse for the Flash franchise becoming such a pile of hot dog crap.

Green Arrow #24 crashed from the number 143 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. DC Comics needs to be in panic mode at this moment. Green Arrow should not be an unranked comic. This is more editorial mismanagement by DC Comics.

Metamorpho: The Element Man #6 was unranked for the fourth consecutive month. Metamorpho is such a great character, but Al Ewing has shit the bed with this title.

Green Lantern #23 fell from the number 95 spot to the number 148 spot. DC Comics has lost the plot with this franchise. Adding Kyle Rayner to this comic continues to do nothing but drag it down the sales chart.

Green Lantern Corps #4 dropped from the number 74 spot to the number 111 spot. I am not surprised that this title is now a Dead Title Walking.

Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Justice League franchise.

Zatanna #4 plummeted from the number 34 spot to the number 62 spot. Oof. I did not see this drop coming as this title has been a consistent Top 50 seller.

Wonder Woman #21 fell from the number 48 spot to the number 71 spot. This ended this title’s one-month tour in the Top 50. Tom King’s story has cooled off as Wonder Woman’s days as a constant Top 50 seller seem behind it.

Black Canary Best of the Best #6 climbed from the number 145 spot to the number 129 spot. With this issue, this six-issue mini-series has concluded. Tom King’s story was a sales failure as this title spent four of its six issues in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Fire & Ice: When Hell Freezes Over #2 crashed and burned, falling from the number 102 spot and out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. C’mon. Nobody with more than one brain cell and not employed by DC Comics is surprised by this. Hiring Joanne Starer to write a mainstream superhero comic book was comic book malpractice by DC Comics.

The Absolute Universe

180 Absolute Wonder Woman #1 (Resolictiation)

189 Absolute Batman #2 (Resolictiation)

198 Absolute Superman #6 (Resolictiation)

200 Absolute Batman #3 (Resolictiation)

The Absolute Universe had four comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, but down in the Top 25 and down in the Top 50 from April 2025, when the Absolute Universe had four comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and nine comics in the Top 50.

Absolute Batman #8 took the number 2 spot, which is the same ranking it had in April 2025. There is no stopping this title.

Absolute Superman #7 climbed from the number 18 spot to the number 3 spot. Keep in mind that this title was shipped in two issues in March 2025. This is the same ranking that Absolute Superman #4 had in February 2025.

Absolute Green Lantern #2 ticked up from the number 10 spot to the number 5 spot. This is incredible. It looks like DC Comics has another sales hit on its hands with this five-issue mini-series.

Absolute Flash #3 fell from the number 4 spot to the number 10 spot. This five-issue mini-series looks to try and finish ranked in the Top 10.

Absolute Wonder Woman #8 fell from the number 7 spot to the number 21 spot. Woah! That is a huge drop and something I did not see coming at all. Until this month, Absolute Wonder Woman had consistently been a Top 10 seller. We shall see if this is the first crack in the armor for this title or just a one-month aberration.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #3 dropped from the number 6 spot to the number 23 spot. Wow. This is another large drop that I did not see coming. This five-issue mini-series posted an impressive number 4 ranking and a number 6 ranking for its first two issues. Deniz Camp’s story and Javier Rodriguez’s artwork have been a miss with me. But the fantastic sales rankings for the first two issues made me think this mini-series would snag Top 10 rankings with all five issues. We shall see if this title can rebound in the next month.

This is the first month that we have seen multiple Absolute Universe titles selling near the bottom of the Top 25. This may just be a one-month oddity, and everything will heat back up next month. Or, this might be the first sign of the Absolute Universe losing a bit of steam, like the Ultimate Universe eventually experienced.

Supernatural Comics

42 Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #8 (Marvel Comics)

74 Hellverine #6 (Marvel Comics)

106 Doctor Strange of Asgard #3 (Marvel Comics)

145 DC Vs Vampires World War V #9 (Of 12) (DC Comics)

183 Resurrection Man Quantum Karma #2 (Of 6) (DC Comics)

191 Hellhunters #5 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

Unranked: Werewolf by Night #10 (Marvel Comics)

Hellverine #6 climbed from the number 104 spot to the number 74 spot. This is the highest in the sales rankings this title has been since Hellverine #2.

DC Vs Vampires World War V #9 fell from the number 106 spot to the number 145 spot. This twelve-issue limited series cannot escape the Dead Titles Walking category.

Resurrection Man Quantum Karma #2 managed to claw its way into the Top 200 by taking the number 183 spot. Ram V’s story continues to be a sales failure.

Werewolf by Night #10 fell from the number 140 spot and out of the Top 200 to go unranked. Things just get worse for this title each month.

Cosmic Comics

70 New Gods #6 (Of 12) (DC Comics)

Unranked: The Infinity Watch #5 (Marvel Comics)

New Gods #6 dropped from the number 44 spot to the number 70 spot. This is the lowest in the sales rankings that Ram V’s twelve-issue limited series has been up to this point.

The Infinity Watch #5 was unranked for the third consecutive month. This horrendous idea for a comic continues to be a total sales failure.

Legacy Character Comics

10 Absolute Flash #3 (DC Comics)

19 Supergirl #1 (DC Comics)

74 Hellverine #6 (Marvel Comics)

75 Absolute Flash #2 (DC Comics) (Resolictiation)

152 Titans #23 (DC Comics)

154 Red Hulk #3 (Doom) (Marvel Comics) (Resolictiation)

155 NYX #10 (Marvel Comics)

167 Doom Academy #3 (Doom) (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: Spider-Boy #19 (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: The Flash #21 (DC Comics)

Unranked: Teen Titans Go! #3 (DC Comics)

There was one legacy character comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to April 2025, when there was one legacy character comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as there were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as there was one legacy character comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Titans #23 plummeted from the number 104 spot to the number 152 spot. It’s embarrassing how poorly this franchise is performing in sales. There is no reason for a franchise with such a wonderful pedigree to be performing this poorly.

Mantle Swap Comics

32 All-New Venom #6 (Marvel Comics)

66 Laura Kinney: Wolverine #6 (Marvel Comics)

147 Eddie Brock Carnage #4 (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: Sam Wilson: Captain America #5 (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: Amadeus Cho 20th Anniversary Special #1 (Marvel Comics)

There were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was better than April 2025, when there were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as there were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 50 in May 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago, as there were one mantle swap comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in May 2023.

Daredevil: Unleash Hell – Red Band #5 plummeted from the number 86 spot to the number 125 spot. With this issue, this five-issue mini-series has concluded. This title was a sales failure. We all saw this coming from a mile away. It’s Erica Schultz plus mantle swap Daredevil. This combination has never had any sales success in the past. I am unsure why Marvel Comics editorial thought this time would be any different.

Dead Titles Walking

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, titles outside of the Top 100 are usually selling under the 18,000 unit sales mark. These are the Marvel Comics and DC Comics titles that are dead titles walking.
