And the new era of TRANSFORMERS begins with the most shocking ending to ANY comic book this year!
When Skybound and Hasbro relaunched TRANSFORMERS as part of the new Energon Universe nearly two years ago, with Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer at the helm, the comic book world took notice. The debut issue set a new record at the time as Skybound’s highest-selling debut and easily surpassed previous TRANSFORMERS sales records. It sold out at the distributor level before reaching comic shops, leading to many subsequent printings due to unprecedented demand. It went on to become the best-selling comic book of 2023. Johnson’s work earned overwhelming critical acclaim as well, winning Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist at the 2024 Eisner Awards. Jorge Corona joined as series artist beginning with issue #7, and for the next eighteen months, the creative team consistently delivered a critical darling and consistently best-selling series. TRANSFORMERS #24 is set to conclude one of the most celebrated comic book runs of recent years.
In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and series colorist Mike Spicer, the lineup of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #24 includes an open-to-order cover B by series artist Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer, a 1:10 incentive variant concluding the connecting cover series by David Nakayama, a 1:25 incentive variant by Jeff Spokes, a 1:50 incentive variant by Pye Parr, and a wraparound cover by Johnson and Spicer.
The October issue of TRANSFORMERS marks the beginning of an exciting era, led by an all-new creative team. The current series colorist Mike Spicer and letterer Rus Wooton will be joined by the creative dream team of Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Void Rivals) and Dan Mora (Superman, Justice League Unlimited). Together, they’ll launch a new age of TRANSFORMERS with an oversized 25th issue, celebrating the blockbuster series’ second anniversary. A perfect jumping on point for new readers, issue #25 will also feature a story from Kirkman and current series artist Jorge Corona.
TRANSFORMERS is the cornerstone of the Energon Universe, the crown jewel of the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, who has introduced a brand-new era of the TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE franchises in one shared comic book universe. Other Energon Universe titles include the ongoing series Void Rivals by writer/co-creator Robert Kirkman, artist Conor Hughes (White Ash, The Game), and colorist Patricio Delpeche (The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country) and G.I. JOE by writer Joshua Williamson (Superman, Dark Ride), artists Tom Reilly (Duke) and Andrea Milana (Cobra Commander), and colorists Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33, Birds of Prey) and Lee Loughridge (Universal Monsters: The Mummy).
