Comic Book Reviews: Blood & Thunder #4BLOOD & THUNDER #4

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Benito Cereno

Artist: E.J. Su

Colorist: Msassyk

Letterer: Rus Wooton

Blood & Thunder #4 dives fully into the mystery angle of the series. While it is good that Benito Cereno and E.J. Su develop this side of the story the lack of our series lead presence is heavily felt. It makes this issue feel like a comic book for a different series. What is developed does have some interesting moments with the big threat that we’ve seen in the shadows. While interesting the lack of action and presence of Blood and Thunder hurt the overall impact of this issue.

Comic Book Reviews: Green Lantern Corps #7GREEN LANTERN CORPS #7

CREATIVE TEAM

Writers: Morgan Hampton and Jeremy Adams

Artists: Fernando Pasarin and Oclair Albert

Colorist: Arif Prianto

Letterer: Dave Sharpe

Green Lantern Corps #7 certainly captures the minimal emotion left in the DC Universe. Fernando Pasarin and Oclair Albert’s artwork steals the show in setting the mood for what the Green Lantern Corps and their allies have to go up against. That said, because of how well the mood was set there were moments where Morgan Hampton and Jeremy Adams should’ve let the artwork carrying the story. The dialogue was fine for traditional comic book storytelling, but this could’ve been even more special if there were more moments of silence.

Comic Book Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES III #1

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Ryan Parrott

Artist: Vincenzo Federici

Colorist: Raul Angulo

Letterer: Ed Dukeshire

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1 is a fantastic continuation of one of the most epic crossovers. Ryan Parrott and Vincenzo Federici utilize the history established in the previous two crossovers to create an even bigger story. The ending of this first issue was jaw-dropping. If that ending is a hint of what could happen then we are in store for memorable story. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: Transformers #23TRANSFORMERS #23

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Daniel Warren Johnson

Artist: Jorge Corona

Colorist: Mike Spicer

Letterer: Rus Wooton

Transformers #23 sets the stage for the finale of Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona to be as epic as it could possibly be. The dramatic tension is off the charts as important decisions are made by both the Autobots and Decepticons. The difference in where each side helps add greater anticipation to find out how this story will end. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #3ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN: INCURSION #3

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar

Artist: Jonas Scharf

Colorist: Edgar Delgado

Letterer: Cory Petit

Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #3 was a step-up from the previous issue. Miles Morales chemistry with the Ultimate X-Men was a big key in this improvement. There are still problems with how Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar are portraying The Maker’s Council. Hopefully the last two issues are able to tap the strengths of this mini-series to help the weaker parts. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: The Ultimates #15THE ULTIMATES #15

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Deniz Camp

Artist: Von Randal

Colorist: Erick Arciniega

Letterer: Travis Lanham

The Ultimates #15 is a mess of ideas that never came together for a cohesive narrative. There’s an attempt at a lore dump at the beginning of the issue that just appeared to be random and never added anything. Then there is the main story with the Ultimates that does very little to progress the overall narrative of this series. It does not help that in what ended up being a spotlight for Ultimate She-Hulk the artwork became messier as it went along.
