Reading this was like watching a good summer action flick. Rhodey (War Machine) is cyborg who is set up to “take on monsters and madmen in international hotspots”. He is assisted by team leader Bethany Cabe and Parnell Jacobs (his pit crew). Parnells’ wife was kidnapped by Eaglestar International in another country.

Rhodey charges in with blazing guns taking out missles and remote controlled tanks. He shows that he is a true hero when he sacrifices himself to protect the mercenaries who are attacking him. He rescues Parnells’ wife.

Parnell’s wife makes one request. That Rhodey not kill any of the men who attacked her. She wants them to live to stand trial. Rhodey agrees and uses a weapon that blinds them for a short time. Norman Osborn is notified that Rhodey is winning. He dispatches Ares to stop Rhodey.

Pak has crafted an action packed adventure for Rhodey. The action is non-stop. He even finds a few instances to work in some characterization. I would have given this a higher rating but the plot is thin. Higher ratings have to have more story than this.

The art of Leonardo Manco shines on this book. It is dark and full of machinery. This plays to Manco’s strengths as an artist.

Recommended. If you are looking for a deep story, avoid this book. If you want an entertaining book that is a quick read, pick this up.
