HIGHLIGHTS FROM G.I. JOE #15

Road Pig Brutal Debut

While he appeared at the end of the previous issue, G.I. JOE #15 gives our first full look at Road Pig in the Energon Universe. Road Pig’s full debut does not disappoint. Joshua Williamson and Tom Reilly do a great job getting over how Road Pig is an absolute tank. That is showcased through the brutal way he fights against everyone put in front of him. This all led to one of the best examples of how to debut a villain and immediately make them a physically imposing threat.

Dreadnoks’ Personalities Shine

For all the major players involved in this story the Dreadnoks are really carrying this story. They are most certainly living up to having this story arc, “The Dreadnok War”, being named after them. For as much as they bring to the table with their Mad Max: Fury Road style action every member is brimming with personality. It does so much to have the Dreadnoks be over the top. They are the perfect group to compliment the more serious Cobra and JOEs organization. It makes you hope they continue to stick around after the dust settles on this story arc as at secondary antagonists.

Cobra Commander & Duke Unlikely Chemistry

Cobra Commander and Duke’s chemistry has that opposites attract energy. Obviously, they continue to hate one another as archrivals. But because of them being the leaders of the opposites sides their chemistry works extremely well in G.I. JOE #15. Especially when we get to see them interact with each other in the brief “calm” moments we get more character development for both. Their back and forth adds even more intrigue to seeing these two fight one another.

Cobra & JOEs Make Moves

With Cobra Commander and Duke busy with the Dreadnoks we see that Cobra and JOEs are busy with their own things going on. The decision made by key members of Cobra and JOEs does a lot to set up the future beyond “The Dreadnok War.” What both groups do without their respective leaders around make the Dreadnoks presence even more important. Without what Dreadnoks are doing right now the things that happen in the scenes not physically involving Cobra Commander and Duke wouldn’t happen.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK IN G.I. JOE #15

Nothing!

FINAL THOUGHTS

G.I. JOE #15 keeps up the momentum for “The Dreadnok War” going high. The chemistry between all the characters involved, including the new character introduced, is all well done. Through the actions the Dreadnoks are taking Joshua Williamson and Tom Reilly further build out the world of the G.I. JOE in the Energon Universe in very intriguing ways.
