Energon Universe Preview: Transformers #22

Things certainly picked up in the most recent issue of Transformers as the Autobots and Decepticons faced off once again. The big change this time around was Megatron’s inclusion. That completely changed the game that the Autobots were already behind on. Now that will be continuing in July’s Transformers #22 by Daniel Warren Johnson, Jorge Corona, and Mike Spicer. Ahead of its release, Skybound and Image Comics have provided us with a preview of the July issue to share

As previously mentioned, Transformers #21 saw Megatron leading the Decepticons in another trouncing of the Autobots. If things weren’t bad enough the fight left Optimus Prime heavily injured. That was due to needing to have his Autobot teammates blast the arm cannon he previously installed. This was because the arm cannon actually belonged to Megatron, who proceeded to reclaim his arm after the Autobots ran away.

Things won’t be getting any easier as Transformers #22’s solicitation is teasing even more major developments:

ONE HAS FALLEN. ONE WILL RISE. The Autobots and Decepticons prepare to make their final stand—and this time there’s no turning back.

Transformers #22 main cover will be handled by series writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson and colorist Mike Spicer. Additional variant covers by artists Jorge Corona David Nakayama Manabu Yashiro, and Pye Parr. Check out the covers and two-page preview below:

Transformers #22 is scheduled to be released in comic book shops and digital storefronts on July 9, 2025. Get more information about the comic book in Skybound and Image Comics press release below.
