IMPERIAL WAR: BLACK PANTHER #1
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Victor LaValle and Jonathan Hickman
Artist: Cafu
Colorist: David Curiel
Letterer: Lindsey Cohick
While not 100% necessary for the main event Imperial War: Black Panther does a great job at expanding on the T’Challa’s role in the story. Afterall, Black Bolt and the Inhumans manipulated things so that every cosmic army would attack Wakanda. This caused great confusion that pushed Black Panther to get the cosmic leaders to agree to a ceasefire and begin to understand what is really going on. The way Black Panther does this tap into T’Challa’s leadership ability.
The results of Imperial War: Black Panther further highlight the unstable nature of Marvel’s cosmic corner that Imperial has spotlighted. All the cosmic powers have been through so many wars that made what has happened in Imperial so devastating. Through that we get solid set-up for why Black Panther and Wakanda will be important for the cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe.
Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10
IMPERIAL WAR: PLANET SHE-HULK #1
CREATIVE TEAM
Writers: Stephanie Phillips and Jonathan Hickman
Artist: Emilio Laiso
Colorist: Matt Milla
Letterer: Joe Caramagna
Imperial War: Planet She-Hulk is very much a prelude to the new upcoming She-Hulk series. This one-shot establishes how She-Hulk is in a fish out of water situation as she was left to take care of Sakaar by her cousin. No matter how much logic She-Hulk tries to use the fact is that Sakaar is not Earth. How things worked on Earth is not how things work on Sakaar. It is a lesson that She-Hulk learns with the results of the murder investigation she finds herself in.
The big lesson learned by She-Hulk in this issue does a good job at teasing what the post-Imperial foundation will be for Marvel’s cosmic side. It has created an instability that many will be looking to take the opportunity to capatilize on. For a warrior planet like Sakaar that means bloody actions being taken at every corner by its population. How She-Hulk deals with this will be very interesting to see in her new ongoing series.
Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #20
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Artist: David Messina
Colorist: Matthew Wilson
Letterer: Cory Petit
Ultimate Spider-Man #20 is the weakest issue of this series thus far. This entire issue is about two long conversations that are had. Both conversations are basically recapping what has been learned in recent issues. To Jonathan Hickman and David Messina’s credit, they do a great job at creating tension and making the ending involving MJ and Gwen a rewarding moment. But that reward isn’t enough to mask what is largely a recap chapter. Click here to read the full review.

VOID RIVALS #22
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Conor Hughes
Colorist: Patricio Delpeche
Letterer: Rus Wooton
Void Rivals #22 delivers a massive scale battle between the Agorrians and Zertonians with Springer vs Proximus as the headliners. It is everything that is promised with the scale being massive. It all leads to Proximus pulling off a move that can be game changing if successful. The way Robert Kirkman and Conor Hughes built up to this ending gets you even more invested in finding out where this series will go next. Click here to read the full review.
