Tomasi continues his excellent run on Nightwing. As part of the “Faces of Evil” feature, Ra’s Al Ghul is the focus of this issue. In the wake of Batman’s death, Ra’s is trying to confirm his suspicions. Of course, Ra’s is able to piece together that someone else killed Batman. He always dreamed of being the one who did it.

Ra’s builds the case that Dick is becoming the next Batman. Dick feels that Ra’s is trying to cope with missing out on killing Batman by making Dick into his new arch enemy.

Tomasi (aided by Kramer/Leisten) does a great job of establishing the new conflict between Dick and Ra’s.

I will miss this series when it ends.

Highly recommended.

  1. Wait I thought Ra’s wanted Batman to be his heir so why would he want to kill him? I’m getting a bit sick of the ‘I wanted to kill that hero’ stuff that seems to be croping up lately it’s just lazy motivation.
