HIGHLIGHTS FROM G.I. JOE #14

Tom Reilly Amazing Action Choreography

G.I. JOE #14 is a true showcase of Tom Reilly’s amazing talent as an artist. He gets the full opportunity thanks to how part two of the “Dreadnok War” kicks off to showcase his ability to choreograph big action sequences. There is a big budget feel to the action as Duke, Cobra Commander, and the Dreadnoks going all out. Things starting off with what looks like a chase sequence straight out of Mad Max: Fury Road adds to the excitement that you feel as a reader seeing how Reilly’s artwork brings it all to life.

Dreadnoks Prove to be a Group to not Mess With

Through the major action sequence we really see the power that the Dreadnoks wield. They are a group that once you get on their bad side you can only hope to survive what is next. It is exactly what G.I. JOE needed. They are a group that works completely different from the well managed way we saw Cobra operate in the first story arc. They have a brand of chaos that you feel no one is prepared to face. It is what solidifies them as major threats who should have a big event named after them, like “Dreadnok War” has been.

Cobra Commander and Duke’s Unexpected Chemistry

The way the Dreadnoks are showcased helps to elevate the team-up of convenience that Cobra Commander and Duke are forced to have. There were no other options for them other than work together. Making it all better the animosity between the two does not disappear even if they are fighting for their lives. It is a great way to add to their rivalry to place them in this situation. Cobra Commander and Duke’s back-and-forth adds to wanting to see which of the two will eventually lead their respective triumph. Which creates another layer of intrigue with what’s going on in the “Dreadnok War”

Destro Steals the Show in More Ways than One

As much as these first two chapters of the “Dreadnok War” has been about Cobra Commander, Duke, and the Dreadnoks you can’t forget about Destro. Joshua Williamson has really solidified Destro as a character who will maximize any and all screen time he is given. That is certainly something that is shown in G.I. JOE #14. What Destro does makes you wonder what the long lasting ramifications are. Which works well to not just complement what is going on with Cobra Commander and Duke but also the JOEs as well.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK IN G.I. JOE #14

Nothing!

FINAL THOUGHTS

G.I. JOE #14 is an exciting second chapter in the “Dreadnok War.” Tom Reilly steals the show with incredible action sequences that showcase his talents to choregraph outstanding fight sequences. Joshua Williamson’s writing for all the characters involve enhance the intensity of the action. It all leaves you in a spot hyped to read the next chapter as soon as possible.
