October is now over. It was the month that we saw a wind of change as many comic book companies started to wrap things up and set things up for how the new year will begin. We are still a bit away way from the new year but the hints we got made October have a lot of big releases. We got a little bit of everything this month what ended up standing out? Find out what made my list of the ten best comic books released in October 2025.
ABSOLUTE EVIL #1

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Al Ewing
Artist: Giuseppe Camuncoli and Stefano Nesi
Colorist: Romulo Fajardo Jr.
Letterer: Tom Napolitano
Absolute Evil nails what it was going for. Al Ewing, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Stefano Nesi tell a complete story that makes the Absolute Universe villains arguably more compelling than the heroes. The narrative showed the complexities of each villain in what is now established as the Absolute Justice League.
Framing the villains as the Absolute Justice League drove home how they all balance one another out. They all serve an important purpose in the group. Their way of defending the status quo of the Absolute Universe does a lot to inform what is going on in each title set in this Elseworld. There are even implications to what is going on with Darkseid that could hint at what is to come post-DC K.O. All that led to making this a special one-shot.
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #13

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Matias Bergara
Colorist: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Becca Carey
Absolute Wonder Woman #13 is a showcase of what has made this series arguably DC Comics best series. We get so much story packed into this one issue. From digging deeper into the mythology of the Absolute Universe’s Amazons to the spectacular action there is so much to love about this comic book.
Through it all what shines most is how Kelly Thompson goes about spotlighting Wonder Woman’s dynamic with her supporting cast. Having people around her helps provide the character and story much needed grounding. It makes the spectacular things Wonder Woman does, which Matias Begara beautifully captures with the artwork, rise up to continue fighting. Though we get hints that for as strong as Wonder Woman the Absolute Universe, like her other fellow heroes, is ready to present greater challenges.
FANTASTIC FOUR/GARGOYLES

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Greg Weisman
Artist: Enid Balam
Colorist: Raul Angulo
Letterer: Joe Caramagna
Fantastic Four/Gargoyles is one of those pleasant crossovers you never thought about happening but happy it finally has. Greg Weisman, the Gargoyles creator and veteran comic book writer, nailed the fun of having these two franchises meet. It is simple as that as Weisman leans into the fun of these two franchises teaming up.
The big thing is having the Fantastic Four and Gargoyles live in this self-contained universe rather than doing some Multiverse thing. It led to more organic chemistry between the two teams. This worked to each other’s strength as Weisman showcased his ability to write a large cast of characters while maintaining their individuality. Which also helped highlight the importance of family to both teams. It all made this one-shot feel like an episode of an animated series than just another comic book.
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #9

CREATIVE TEAM
Writers: Morgan Hampton and Jeremy Adams
Artist: Fernando Pasarin
Inkers: Oclair Albert, Adriano Di Benedetto, and Daniel Henriques
Colorists: Arif Prianto, Matt Herms, Lee Loughridge, and Trish Mulvihill
Letterer: Dave Sharpe
Green Lantern Corps #9 is not just an epic end to “The Starbreaker Supremacy.” This was a changing end that lays the foundation for the franchise to have a new, exciting direction. It is exactly what you want from the final payoff of a story that a series has been building for over two years now.
The action no doubt is what makes this ending epic. But it is the role all the characters play that make it memorable. It is not just Hal, Kyle, and the other Green Lanterns. We have Razer, Aya, Saint Walker, and more in on the cosmic fun. How they defeated the Starbreaker Corps was a great way to announce the return of the Emotional Spectrum and Oa being its new home. Creating a center for the Emotional Spectrum has a ton of potential for how the different Lantern Corps will interact with each other in the future.
INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE: BATTLE BEAST #6

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Ryan Ottley
Colorist: Annalisa Leoni
Letterer: Rus Wooton
Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #6 is an absolute blast. Robert Kirkman knew exactly the story that needed to be told. As the ending of this series first story arc it just needed to be about one giant brawl. That’s what we got and it was glorious
This finale leaned into Ryan Ottley strengths as his amazing artwork carries this comic book. Battle Beast and Juggernaut of Emsiu hold nothing back in their brutally bloody fight. You feel the joy both fighters have as they take pleasure in hurting one another as they each try to be the ultimate winner. It all worked to show s the immense trust Kirkman and Ottley have in each other as a creative team.
POWER RANGERS PRIME #11

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Melissa Flores
Artist: Michael Yg
Colorist: Joana Lafuente
Letterer: Ed Dukeshire
Power Rangers Prime #11 is this series at its best. Melissa Flores and Michael Yg lean into the most interesting aspect of this series. That is it being a whole new continuity that takes the familiar and changes things in new ways for the Power Rangers franchise. Starting out with a flashback to the Shiba family highlights how much fun it is seeing the impact of Eltarians control in this continuity is.
The flashbacks and how it came back to Lauren Shiba’s present day story raised the already high stakes for this series. Continuing that momentum by focusing on Rita as the lead of the rest of the Power Rangers Prime team’s story works. Rita is such a wild card that having her as this continuity’s Green Ranger Prime works so well. Her action push not only the main Ranger cast forward but also the Eltarians and VR Troopers. It results into creating the max excitement for the final chapter of this current story arc.
STAR WARS #6

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Alex Segura
Artist: Phil Noto
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
If it wasn’t known before it is now as Alex Segura and Phil Noto pay homage to the Clone Wars Era of the franchise with Star Wars #6. They tap into the best parts of this era for Star Wars by focusing on the action and political drama. The way that is split with Luke and Han fighting for their lives and Leia on the political side helps shine a light on what these characters do best.
Everything that happens in Star Wars #6 taps into the space soap opera that makes this franchise great. Noto is especially in his bag with how he choreographs both sides of the story. There is as much intensity to the fighting as there is to the back-and-forth dialogue between characters.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #12

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artist: Juan Ferreyra
Letterer: Shawn Lee
Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra hold nothing back with how they ended their creative run with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #12. The action was kick ass with Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo showing the strength of fighting as a family. The rewarding action made the developments it led to create even greater interest for what is to come with this series.
What made this ending so special was how Aaron and Ferreyra made sure to leave the franchise in a stronger place they entered. That is saying a lot as IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been consistent with its quality that Aaron and Ferreyra continued. They did that by using this story get more invested in not just the Leo, Raph, Mickey, and Donny but also April O’Neil, Casey Jones, and Karai. The developments at the end of this issue with Karai will especially drive a lot of stories for this series moving forward.
TRANSFORMERS #25

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Dan Mora and Jorge Corona
Colorist: Mike Spicer
Letterer: Rus Wooton
Robert Kirkman and Dan Mora stepped into Transformers #25 without missing a beat. Continuing where Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona, the war between the Autobots and Decepticons is still ongoing. The Autobots big win at the end of the previous story arc is felt in a big way. The reactions that it caused, especially when it comes to Megatron, made this debut for Kirkman and Mora memorable.
Adding to the intrigue around the Autobots vs Decepticons war is how the greater Energon Universe is factoring in. Kirkman and Mora make sure to be careful not to suddenly hit us in the face with G.I. JOE and Void Rivals elements. Instead, it is done with subtlety that is really about the Transformers place in the Energon Universe. You feel how the decisions that the Autobots and Decepticons is going to have major impacts on the universe. It is an exciting time to just be a fan.
ULTIMATE X-MEN #20

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer & Artist: Peach Momoko
Script Adaptation: Zack Davisson
Letterer: Travis Lanham
Ultimate X-Men #20 gets over the us against the world vibe that is going on with this story. The setting of each scene is what really shows this. Peach Momoko is purposeful with how she frames the setting of each scene to amplify the decisions every mutant is making. Seeing Psylocke leading the X-Men in the middle of Tokyo against Sunfire is a great rally cry moment. That is a great contrast what is going on with Armor, Maystorm, and Shadow King.
The uniqueness of Momoko’s art style adds so much to have this story standout from every other Marvel comic book. Momoko takes a lot of chance with how she goes about drawing characters to match the scene. This attention to detail of how characters look makes the big moments feel bigger as the color palette us purposely changed. It all makes you look forward to when Momoko goes all out with the action.
