Energon Universe Preview: Transformers #36

Cobra-La is going to make their impact on the Energon Universe known in September’s Transformers #36. Cobra-La’s involvement in the Transformers series is something that writer Robert Kirkman and artist Jason Howard. Now ahead of Transformer #36’s release date Image Comics and Skybound have provided us with an early look at what we can expect from the September issue.

As we saw at the end of Transformers #35, Cobra-La quickly made their presence known to the Autobots and Decepticons. Their impact is something that stretches past just being the next bad guys for our heroes to face. They further connect Transformers to what is going on in other Energon Universe titles. That is something further teased in the solicitation for Transformers #36:

The new Superion debuts!  

That’s right! In a move no one could have predicted, Thundercracker takes his place among the Aerialbots! They assemble just in time to… wait… what’s that sound? Could it be?

In addition to the main cover by artist David Nakayama, the lineup of variant covers for Transformers #36 includes an open-to-order cover B by Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer, an open-to-order cover C by Jason Howard & Annalisa Leonia 1:25 incentive variant by Ito, and a 1:50 incentive variant by Homare.

Transformers is the cornerstone of the Energon Universe, the crown jewel of the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, who has introduced a brand-new era of the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises in one shared comic book universe. Other Energon Universe ongoing series include Void Rivalsby writer Robert Kirkman, artist Conor Hughes (White Ash), and colorist Patricio Delpeche (Catwoman), G.I.
