It is time to check out the August 2026 comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier when it comes to actual unit numbers. So, we must settle for ICv2’s Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we must work with what we get.

Keep in mind that the Top 200 sales rankings are unit and dollar sales rankings based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub and Comic Shop Assistant POS systems at stores selling American comics around the world. During the period in which these reports were generated, over 225 stores were using the two systems.

As this is a small, non-random sample of over 3,000 stores selling American comics worldwide, these rankings may not be typical for all stores but do represent a variety of locations and store emphases.

We all know that these ICv2 sales charts are not the most ideal manner of tracking sales. However, if publishers hide their sales statistics, this is the best that we must go by. You can see that these sales charts provide a rough indication of the market, as titles that are canceled tend to correspond with low sales rankings in these ComicHub and Comic Shop Assistant charts. I wish we had better data to analyze, but we must make do with whatever data we have these days.

The data for the August 2026 comic book sales rankings were collected over a five-week period, from August 1 – 29, 2026.

The Battle for the Top 10

DC Comics took first place by placing six comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month numbers were up from the five comics that DC Comics had in the Top 10 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were up by a wide margin, as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in August 2025.

Numbers were up by a wide margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in August 2024.

Numbers were up by a massive margin from three years ago, as DC Comics had one comic in the Top 10 in August 2023.

DC Comics continues to kick ass at the top of the sales chart. Six comics in the Top 10, including all four of the highest-ranked comics! This is DC Comics’ strongest August Top 10 showing across our six-year comparison window.

Of course, the Absolute Universe continues to do most of the heavy lifting. Five of DC Comics’ six Top 10 issues came from the Absolute Universe.

The one non-Absolute Universe DC Comics title to make the Top 10? Batman #12, which took the number 2 spot. This continues the trend of DC Comics’ Top 10 success coming from either the Absolute Universe or Batman. The winning formula is working, but DC Comics remains awfully dependent on it.

Marvel Comics placed four comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month numbers were up from the three comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 10 in July 2026.

Four comics represent Marvel Comics’ weakest August Top 10 showing across our six-year comparison window. Marvel Comics went from eight Top 10 spots last August to four this August. Half of its Top 10 presence disappeared in one year. Brutal.

The Spider-Man franchise supplied half of Marvel Comics’ Top 10 presence, while Daredevil and Queen in Black supplied the other half. That gives Marvel Comics several sources of strength. Unfortunately, none of those comics could break into the Top 4.

Image Comics could not repeat its July breakthrough into the Top 10. This month, Marvel Comics and DC Comics kept all ten spots to themselves.

The Battle for the Top 25

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 11-25 range typically sell in the 80,000 to 50,000-unit range.

Marvel Comics took first place by placing eleven comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month numbers were up from the ten comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a wide margin, as Marvel Comics had seventeen comics in the Top 25 in August 2025.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had nineteen comics in the Top 25 in August 2024.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had eighteen comics in the Top 25 in August 2023.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had eighteen comics in the Top 25 in August 2022.

Marvel Comics mounted a comeback by beating DC Comics 7–4 between the numbers 11 and 25 spots. That was enough to turn a 6–4 loss in the Top 10 into an 11–10 victory in the cumulative Battle for the Top 25.

That is the good news. The bad news is that eleven comics is Marvel Comics’ weakest August Top 25 showing across our six-year comparison window. Marvel Comics had nineteen spots just two years ago. Now it has eleven.

Marvel Comics did have a good spread of titles powering its Top 25 presence. Three issues came from the Spider-Man franchise, two from the X-Men franchise, two from the Avengers franchise, two from Queen in Black, and one apiece from Daredevil and Fantastic Four.

Marvel Comics has plenty of different titles capable of contributing to a Top 25 victory. The problem is that those contributions are producing a narrow one-comic win over DC Comics instead of the beatdowns Marvel Comics delivered in previous August charts.

DC Comics took second place with ten comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month numbers were up from the nine comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in July 2026.

DC Comics lost the Battle for the Top 25, but the historical comparisons are excellent. Ten comics is DC Comics’ strongest August Top 25 result across our six-year comparison window. DC Comics is up compared to last month and every prior August we are examining.

However, the concentration of DC Comics’ success remains ridiculous. Seven of its ten Top 25 issues came from the Absolute Universe. The other three were from the Batman franchise. That means the Absolute Universe accounted for 70% of DC Comics’ Top 25 presence. Add the Batman titles, and we are at 100%. Every single spot.

DC Comics has found a formula that delivers excellent rankings. There is no arguing with that. But there is also no help coming from the rest of the publishing line at this level of the chart. Once Marvel Comics started adding more titles between numbers 11 and 25, DC Comics could not quite keep pace.

Hello Kitty and Friends Hello World! #1 took the number 25 spot. Well, there is a different face carrying IDW Publishing into the Top 25! After Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles supplied IDW Publishing’s lone Top 25 issue in July, Hello Kitty did the job in August. If IDW Publishing did not have some nice licenses, then they would never make the Top 100.

I am curious to see how well Sanrio’s Hello Kitty property does in the world of comics. This is a pretty impressive ranking for the debut issue. I know there are a ton of Hello Kitty fans in the world. My wife is one of them!

Of course, what I found most interesting about Hello Kitty and Friends Hello World! #1 is that it offers us some insight into the overall health of the comic book market. IDW Publishing has reported that this issue sold 75,000 copies in the direct market. So, this gives us a rough estimate of how titles are selling in relation to this comic in the number 25 spot.

The Battle for the Top 50

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 26–50 range typically sell in the 49,000 to 30,000-unit range.

Marvel Comics took first place by placing twenty-five comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month numbers were up by a wide margin from the seventeen comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 50 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had thirty-two comics in the Top 50 in August 2025.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-five comics in the Top 50 in August 2024.

Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-four comics in the Top 50 in August 2023.

Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-two comics in the Top 50 in August 2022.

Numbers were up from five years ago, as Marvel Comics had twenty-three comics in the Top 50 in August 2021.

Marvel Comics finally put some distance between itself and DC Comics. After squeaking out an 11–10 victory in the Top 25, Marvel Comics beat DC Comics 14–6 between the numbers 26 and 50 spots. That gave Marvel Comics a comfortable 25–16 victory in the cumulative Battle for the Top 50.

This was a much-needed rebound after July’s ugly loss. Marvel Comics added eight Top 50 spots in one month and claimed half of the entire Top 50. That is more like it.

However, the historical comparisons still take some of the shine off this victory. Marvel Comics remains seven spots below last August and ten spots below August 2024.

Marvel Comics’ depth showed up throughout the numbers 26–50 range. The X-Men franchise supplied four more titles. The Avengers franchise added three more titles. The Spider-Man franchise added three more titles. Marc Spector Moon Knight #7 and Punisher #7 also contributed. That is a lot of different titles helping build a lead. This month, Marvel Comics had enough depth to turn its narrow Top 25 advantage into a decisive Top 50 win.

DC Comics took second place with sixteen comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month numbers were down by a wide margin from the twenty-three comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in July 2026. This is the first time we have seen this type of negative month-to-month numbers for DC Comics in a while.

Having said that, year-over-year numbers were up, as DC Comics had twelve comics in the Top 50 in August 2025.

Numbers were up by a wide margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had nine comics in the Top 50 in August 2024.

Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had thirteen comics in the Top 50 in August 2023.

Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had fifteen comics in the Top 50 in August 2022.

On the other hand, numbers were down from five years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-one comics in the Top 50 in August 2021.

Well, that July victory did not last long. DC Comics lost seven Top 50 spots in one month. Going from beating Marvel Comics by six spots to losing by nine spots is a brutal reversal.

The historical comparisons are considerably kinder. Sixteen comics is DC Comics’ best August Top 50 showing since 2021. However, the fact that DC Comics is down five titles compared to August 2021 shows how much ground DC Comics lost over the years.

Twelve of DC Comics’ sixteen Top 50 issues came from the Absolute Universe and the Batman franchise. Together, those twelve issues accounted for 75% of DC Comics’ Top 50 presence.

DC Comics still needs more titles outside of the Absolute Universe and Batman delivering Top 50 results.

Image Comics took third place with seven comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month numbers were up from the six comics that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had four comics in the Top 50 in August 2025.

Numbers were up from two years ago, as Image Comics had four comics in the Top 50 in August 2024.

Now this is an excellent result for Image Comics. Seven comics is its strongest August Top 50 showing across our six-year comparison window.

Three of Image Comics’ seven issues came from the Hasbro franchise. Hasbro remains a valuable part of Image Comics’ success, but the publisher had more Top 50 issues outside of Hasbro than inside it. That is exactly the kind of broader support Image Comics needs. Even after getting shut out of the Top 10, Image Comics managed to improve its cumulative Top 50 presence.

Dynamite Entertainment tied for fourth place with one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month numbers were flat, as Dynamite Entertainment had one comic in the Top 50 in July 2026.

Marvel Comics took first place by placing thirty-two comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month numbers were up from the twenty-nine comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 75 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a massive margin, as Marvel Comics had forty-seven comics in the Top 75 in August 2025.

Numbers were down by a massive margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-six comics in the Top 75 in August 2024.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-four comics in the Top 75 in August 2023.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-three comics in the Top 75 in August 2022.

Numbers were down from five years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-nine comics in the Top 75 in August 2021.

Well, that comfortable lead did not last long. Marvel Comics entered this range with a nine-comic advantage over DC Comics. Then DC Comics doubled up Marvel Comics 14–7 between the numbers 51 and 75 spots. Marvel Comics still won the cumulative Battle for the Top 75, but that comfortable 25–16 lead became a narrow 32–30 victory.

The good news is that Marvel Comics improved on July and reclaimed first place. The bad news is that thirty-two comics is Marvel Comics’ weakest August Top 75 showing across our six-year comparison window.

Marvel Comics had forty-seven spots last August. Now it has thirty-two. That is fifteen fewer Top 75 spots in just one year. That is hideous. Marvel Comics is winning this month’s battle with a total that would have looked awful by its own standards in every previous August we are examining.

DC Comics took second place with thirty comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month numbers were flat compared to the thirty comics that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were up by a wide margin, as DC Comics had twenty comics in the Top 75 in August 2025.

Now that is a strong comeback. DC Comics could not quite catch Marvel Comics, but it made the House of the Mouse sweat. Fourteen of the twenty-five spots in this range went to DC Comics.

Thirty comics is DC Comics’ strongest August Top 75 showing across our six-year comparison window. DC Comics has gone from seventeen spots in August 2024 to thirty spots in August 2026. That is thirteen additional spots in two years. That is impressive.

Image Comics took third place with ten comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month numbers were flat compared to the ten comics that Image Comics had in the Top 75 in July 2026.

IDW Publishing took fourth place with two comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month numbers were down from the four comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 75 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 75 in August 2025.

Numbers were flat from two years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 75 in August 2024.

The Battle for the Top 100

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 76–100 range typically sell in the 24,000 to 18,000-unit range.

Marvel Comics took first place by placing forty-three comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month numbers were up from the thirty-eight comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a massive margin, as Marvel Comics had fifty-eight comics in the Top 100 in August 2025.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-five comics in the Top 100 in August 2024.

Numbers were down by a wide margin from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-six comics in the Top 100 in August 2023.

Numbers were down by a massive margin from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-eight comics in the Top 100 in August 2022.

Numbers were down from five years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-seven comics in the Top 100 in August 2021.

Marvel Comics managed to stop DC Comics’ comeback. After watching its nine-comic Top 50 lead shrink to just two comics in the Top 75, Marvel Comics beat DC Comics 11–9 between the numbers 76 and 100 spots. That gave Marvel Comics a 43–39 victory in the Battle for the Top 100.

That is a welcome rebound after losing this battle in July. Marvel Comics added five Top 100 spots while DC Comics held steady. Marvel Comics earned this month’s victory by improving its own total.

However, forty-three comics is still Marvel Comics’ weakest August Top 100 showing across our six-year comparison window. Marvel Comics won with fewer than half of the Top 100 spots. That is a long way from the fifty-eight spots it controlled last August.

The comparison with last year is particularly ugly. Marvel Comics lost fifteen Top 100 spots, while DC Comics added eight and Image Comics added seven. Marvel Comics is facing stronger competition from both publishers. Getting back into first place is good news, but it does not erase the ground Marvel Comics has lost.

DC Comics took second place with thirty-nine comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month numbers were flat compared to the thirty-nine comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were up, as DC Comics had thirty-one comics in the Top 100 in August 2025.

DC Comics lost first place without losing a single Top 100 spot. That is frustrating, but this is hardly a disastrous result. Thirty-nine comics is DC Comics’ best August Top 100 showing since 2021.

The two-year comparison remains excellent. DC Comics has climbed from twenty-four spots to thirty-nine spots. Fifteen additional Top 100 entries in two years is a substantial improvement.

The way DC Comics reached this total was different from July. DC Comics had twenty-three Top 50 issues and sixteen issues between numbers 51 and 100 in July. This month, those numbers flipped: sixteen Top 50 issues and twenty-three issues between numbers 51 and 100.

That matters. DC Comics maintained its overall Top 100 presence, but more of that presence was concentrated in the lower half. The publisher’s strong Top 10 performance does not change the fact that its cumulative Top 50 showing weakened considerably.

It is also notable that DC Comics is still down compared to where they were six years ago. DC Comics has made great strides to improve their sales, but they are still off from where they used to be. The fall over the past five years was devastating.

Image Comics took third place with fourteen comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month numbers were flat compared to the fourteen comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2026.

Image Comics finished the publisher battles with another excellent result. Fourteen comics is its strongest August Top 100 showing across our six-year comparison window. Image Comics matched July and doubled its total from last August.

Gail Simone placed Uncanny X-Men #33 at the number 16 spot and Uncanny X-Men #34 at the number 27 spot.

We then had seven writers place two different titles in the Top 50.

Scott Snyder placed Absolute Batman #23 at the number 1 spot and Absolute Catwoman #3 at the number 6 spot.

Matt Fraction placed Batman #12 at the number 2 spot and Batman Bad Seeds Sunset #1 at the number 11 spot.

That is a larger footprint for Marvel Comics’ big event. However, the individual rankings tell a more complicated story.

Queen in Black #2 fell from the number 5 spot to the number 14 spot. Queen in Black #3 then fell to the number 33 spot. The main series has gone from the Top 5 to outside the Top 25 in just three issues.

Meanwhile, the Queen in Black #1 True Believers Blind Bag entry took the number 9 spot. This sales gimmick always suckers people.

Queen in Black Venom Unchained #2 plummeted from the number 47 spot to the number 150 spot. Brutal. This three-issue mini-series is doomed to conclude as a Dead Title Walking.

Venom #260 climbed from the number 93 spot to the number 61 spot. That is a welcome rebound, even if the event connection did not get the ongoing title back into the Top 50.

Queen in Black Thor #1 entered the chart at the number 69 spot. That is better than the triple-digit rankings of several other tie-ins, but it is hardly a blockbuster result.

Queen in Black Defenders of Light and Dark #2 climbed from the number 118 spot to the number 106 spot. This three-issue mini-series seems doomed to spend its entire run in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Queen in Black is putting more comics in the upper portion of the chart, but much of that expansion comes from having more issues represented. The main series is slipping, and the tie-ins are delivering wildly uneven results.

Armageddon

Avengers Armageddon #3 slipped from the number 10 spot to the number 12 spot. The title has now gone from number 3 with its first issue to number 10 with its second issue and number 12 with its third issue. That is pretty strong resilience for this big event title.

Captain America #14 fell from the number 20 spot to the number 24 spot. Captain America remains in the Top 25, giving Armageddon two current chapters performing at that level.

Armageddon may have lost its Top 10 presence, but this was still a respectable month. Both current issues stayed in the Top 25, and neither suffered a dramatic slide. Marvel Comics should be pleased with that.

Transformers #35 held steady at the number 15 spot. Transformers continues to provide dependable Top 25 strength for Image Comics. In fact, Transformers #23 also took the number 15 spot in August 2025. The title is no longer delivering the Top 10 rankings we saw in August 2024, but it remains the strongest ongoing comic in the Hasbro franchise.

GI Joe #25 climbed from the number 51 spot to the number 37 spot. Finally! After spending two consecutive issues missing the Top 50 by exactly one spot, GI Joe returned with some room to spare. That is a welcome rebound and gives the Hasbro franchise its additional Top 50 entry this month.

M.A.S.K. #3 fell from the number 35 spot to the number 39 spot. That is a much smaller decline than the fall from number 6 to number 35 between the first two issues. This is an excellent sign that M.A.S.K. is stabilizing and may have the potential to remain a Top 50 seller. That would be a huge win for Image Comics.

Void Rivals #33 dropped from the number 85 spot to the number 108 spot. So much for the two consecutive issues of improvement. Void Rivals is back in the Dead Titles Walking category. This is particularly disappointing when the franchise has three other ongoing titles comfortably inside the Top 50.

GI Joe: A Real American Hero #331 fell from the number 101 spot to the number 117 spot. Last month, this title almost escaped the Dead Titles Walking category. This month, it moved farther away from the exit. Larry Hama’s long-running series continues to struggle in the lower half of the chart.

Transformers The Movie 40th Anniversary Edition #3 returned to the Top 200 at the number 102 spot after the second issue was unranked in July. That is an improvement, although this three-issue anniversary edition finished just outside the Top 100.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #109 Hama Files Edition was unranked, which is where we normally find this title.

The Hasbro franchise improved its Top 50 presence, with GI Joe joining Transformers and M.A.S.K. That is the good news. The bad news is that Void Rivals and GI Joe: A Real American Hero remain stuck below the Top 100.

Spawn Franchise

This title completely cratered after posting an impressive debut at the number 27 spot. I have never been a believer in Simone as a writer who can sell a title on her own, so I was expecting this result with She Spawn.

Spawn #378 ticked up from the number 184 spot to the number 182 spot. Spawn has now spent three consecutive issues in the Dead Titles Walking category, with the last two sitting below number 180. The flagship title is barely hanging on to a place in the Top 200.

Gunslinger Spawn #57 became unranked after the previous issue took the number 196 spot. Last month’s return to the Top 200 did not last long. Gunslinger Spawn is now bouncing between the very bottom of the chart and falling off it entirely.

King Spawn #58 remained unranked for the fourth consecutive issue.

Ghost Machine Titles

Hornsby & Halo #15 remained unranked for the fifteenth straight issue. A new story arc did not bring this title back into the rankings. Hornsby & Halo continues to struggle to establish any presence on the chart.

Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #5 remained unranked for the fifth consecutive issue. This issue brought this mini-series to a conclusion.

Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Roar of the Worlds debuted at the number 109 spot. That was an improvement over the previous Monsterpiece Theatre one-shot, Godzilla’s The Odyssey, which took the number 135 spot. Still, the franchise’s best-selling comic could not crack the Top 100. That tells you what kind of month Godzilla had.

Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #2 plummeted from the number 65 spot to the number 147 spot. Good lord. An eighty-two-spot collapse with just the second issue! This five-issue mini-series has already landed deep in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Last month, I questioned the ordinary debut for Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse. This is far worse. One year ago, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #2 took the number 24 spot. Now, Marvel’s latest Godzilla mini-series cannot keep its second issue in the Top 100. That is a massive difference.

Marvel’s Godzilla crossovers were giving this franchise some much-needed strength a year ago. That strength is nowhere to be found this month. Both new releases finished in the Dead Titles Walking category, and neither publisher managed a single Top 100 comic.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Franchise

Last month, I questioned whether the 300th issue could lift the ongoing title into a stronger position. Number 85 gives us a disappointing answer. The title is almost exactly back where it was before the anniversary issue, when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #19 took the number 87 spot. IDW Publishing got an excellent milestone performance, but the next chapter could not even stay in the Top 75.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder #11 dropped from the number 160 spot to the number 198 spot. Shredder remains in the Dead Titles Walking category and is now barely clinging to the Top 200. Last month’s return to the chart offered little comfort when the follow-up landed this close to falling off it again.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #40 remained unranked after the previous issue also failed to make the Top 200. The animated Turtles continue to find no traction on this chart.

TMNT: Journeys #12 remained unranked, matching the result for issue #11.

The anniversary celebration is over, and the franchise’s underlying problems are back in plain sight. The flagship is outside the Top 75, Shredder is two spots from the exit, and the other two releases could not chart at all. IDW Publishing continues to disappoint with this popular franchise.

Star Trek Franchise

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy—Lost Contact #5 went unranked for the fifth consecutive issue. That means this entire five-issue mini-series failed to make the Top 200. From debut to conclusion, this title never established a presence in the rankings. That is a complete strikeout.

Star Trek: The Last Starship #10 went unranked for the tenth consecutive issue. Good lord. Ten issues, and not one appearance in the Top 200. A new story arc did nothing to change that result. Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly’s series continues to deliver the same miserable performance month after month.

Two new comics. Both unranked. IDW Publishing cannot even point to a promising launch followed by declining rankings. Neither title ever got off the ground.

Star Trek’s sixtieth anniversary has yet to provide any relief in these rankings. The anniversary special arrives in September, but August leaves IDW Publishing with the same problem: a famous license and no chart presence.

Star Wars Franchise

Six Top 50 comics five years ago. Now, Star Wars cannot even get one comic into the Top 75. That is one hell of a collapse. This highlights how much Disney has gutted this once thought invulnerable franchise.

Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren #1 debuted at the number 95 spot. Ouch. Charles Soule and Will Sliney’s new title barely avoided opening in the Dead Titles Walking category. A debut issue should give Marvel Comics an opportunity to generate some excitement and bring readers back. Instead, this one opened just six spots above the cutoff.

We shall see where the second issue lands, but there is almost no cushion here. Even a modest decline would put The Fall of Kylo Ren in the bottom half of the chart. It seems that this five-issue mini-series is doomed to be a Dead Title Walking.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire #5 dropped from the number 139 spot to the number 160 spot. So much for last month’s rebound. This five-issue mini-series concluded in the Dead Titles Walking category, moving farther away from the Top 100 with its final issue.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures—Pathfinders #4 went unranked for the fourth consecutive issue. The High Republic continues to be a reliable sales disaster.

Two of the franchise’s three new releases landed in the Dead Titles Walking category or went unranked. The remaining comic took the number 95 spot. Marvel Comics and Dark Horse Comics have different corners of the Star Wars universe to explore, but neither publisher delivered a strong result this month.

Amazing Spider-Man #34 climbed from the number 13 spot to the number 7 spot. Amazing Spider-Man #35 then dropped from the number 7 spot to the number 23 spot. This is a solid

Punisher vs. Spider-Man #2 fell from the number 22 spot to the number 38 spot. That keeps the second issue comfortably inside the Top 50. The next test is whether this five-issue mini-series can settle here.

Spider-Man / Hulk Fire and Brimstone #1 debuted at the number 42 spot. That is an ordinary opening for a comic combining Peter Parker and Bruce Banner with Kevin Smith, Andy McElfresh, and R.B. Silva. With that cast and creative team, I expected something stronger.

A number 42 debut leaves little room for the usual second-issue decline. We shall see whether this four-issue mini-series can hold its position or if it slides down into the Top 75.

Spectacular Spider-Man Brand New Day #4 climbed from the number 108 spot to the number 72 spot. Finally, some good news for this mini-series! That gets the title out of the Dead Titles Walking category.

Let’s hop over to the knock-off Spider-Men.

Miles Morales Spider-Man #1 debuted at the number 5 spot. Now that is an excellent opening! Bryan Hill and Nico Leon’s relaunch delivered the franchise’s highest-ranked comic and Marvel Comics’ highest-ranked issue of the month.

Bryan Hill has never had any sales success in his time with Marvel Comics. Perhaps this title might snap his winless streak. It will be interesting to see how this title performs over the next few months.

Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Versity #5 fell from the number 109 spot to the number 113 spot. This five-issue mini-series concluded in the Dead Titles Walking category. After debuting at the number 46 spot, this title spent four consecutive issues in the Dead Titles Walking category. This mini-series starring Miles Morales, Ghost Spider, Silk, Araña, Spider-Boy, and Spider-Girl performed as predictably bad as I expected. 

Let’s slide over to the Venomverse.

Venom #260 climbed from the number 93 spot to the number 61 spot. That is a substantial improvement, even if the Queen in Black connection could not get the ongoing title back into the Top 50. Marvel Comics needs this recovery to continue.

Queen in Black Venom Unchained #1 debuted at the number 47 spot. Queen in Black Venom Unchained #2 then plummeted from the number 47 spot to the number 150 spot. This was a disappointing start for this three-issue mini-series.

Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Spider-Man franchise.

Mary Jane Face It, Tiger #1 debuted at the number 31 spot. That is a respectable result for Mary Jane’s anniversary special.

Black Cat #13 dropped from the number 44 spot to the number 79 spot. Ouch. Felicia lost thirty-five spots and fell out of the Top 50. We shall see over the next few months if this is a new trend for this title or not.

The Spider-Man franchise had a much healthier month at the top of the chart. Peter Parker supplied dependable strength, Miles Morales delivered an excellent relaunch, and Mary Jane contributed a respectable debut. The weaker results remain, particularly Spider-Versity and Venom Unchained #2. However, seven Top 50 comics is a clear improvement over July’s four. Now Marvel Comics needs to keep those new launches from sliding away.

Six Top 50 comics is respectable. However, the X-Men franchise lost half of its Top 25 presence from last month and still could not put a single comic in the Top 10. Marvel Comics has plenty of mutant titles on the shelves. What it needs is more strength at the top of the chart.

Let’s kick things off with the team titles.

Uncanny X-Men #33 climbed from the number 25 spot to the number 16 spot. Uncanny X-Men #34 then fell from the number 16 spot to the number 27 spot.

Gail Simone’s title supplied the franchise’s highest-ranked issue and kept both chapters inside the Top 30. That is a solid performance. Unfortunately, Uncanny X-Men still lacks the Top 10 power that this brand should bring to the table.

X-Men #35 climbed from the number 52 spot to the number 17 spot. X-Men #36 then dropped from the number 17 spot to the number 56 spot.

That is a much wider spread than we saw from Uncanny X-Men. Jed MacKay’s title can still put an issue comfortably inside the Top 20, but its second monthly issue again missed the Top 50.

X-Men United #6 climbed from the number 68 spot to the number 43 spot. The title returned to the Top 50 and supplied some needed support beyond the two flagship team books. This title has bounced in and out of the Top 50 for the past four issues. We shall see if this is sustainable or if this title drops back out of the Top 50 with the next issue.

X-Men of Apocalypse Omega #1 entered the chart at the number 50 spot. As the concluding special, it improved on the number 72 ranking of the preceding chapter, X-Men of Apocalypse #4. Getting the finale into the Top 50 is good news, even if it squeezed in through the last available spot.

X-Men ’97 Season Two #3 dropped from the number 60 spot to the number 93 spot. This mini-series is now getting dangerously close to the Dead Titles Walking category. The animated X-Men have gone from the Top 50 to the bottom of the Top 100 in three issues.

Inglorious X-Force #8 dropped from the number 88 spot to the number 125 spot. So much this title’s one-month reprieve from the Dead Titles Walking category.

X-Men Outback #3 plummeted from the number 113 spot to the number 162 spot. Ouch. The second issue was already a Dead Title Walking, and the third issue moved another forty-nine spots in the wrong direction. This mini-series is getting weaker as it goes.

What If…? X-Men #1 had a terrible debut at the number 107 spot. That puts this one-shot straight into the Dead Titles Walking category.

Let’s hop over to the dudes of the X-Men franchise.

Wolverine #25 climbed from the number 56 spot to the number 35 spot. Wolverine #26 then plummeted from the number 35 spot to the number 91 spot.

Good lord. One issue in the Top 40 and another barely inside the Top 100. Wolverine should be one of Marvel Comics’ strongest solo brands. This is a wildly uneven showing for a character of Logan’s stature.

Wade Wilson Deadpool #7 climbed from the number 97 spot to the number 58 spot. That is a substantial rebound. Deadpool could not quite reach the Top 50, but this is a much healthier position than the one the previous issue occupied.

Gambit Wanted #2 plummeted from the number 11 spot to the number 70 spot. Holy crap! There goes that promising launch. The first issue gave this mini-series plenty of room to absorb a decline and remain in the Top 50. Instead, the second issue lost fifty-nine spots. This is incredibly disappointing after such an excellent debut.

Bishop #3 climbed from the number 128 spot to the number 116 spot. This is brutal as Bishop remains in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Let’s wrap up with Generation X-23 and Jubilee’s new adventure.

Generation X-23 #7 climbed from the number 158 spot to the number 114 spot. Jody Houser continues to keep this title in her happy place: The Dead Titles Walking category.

Tomb of Apocalypse #1 debuted at the number 100 spot. What a brutally awful debut for Ashley Allen’s five-issue mini-series. Allen continues to struggle in the sales chart.

Let’s start with the dudes of the Avengers franchise.

Captain America #14 fell from the number 20 spot to the number 24 spot. Steve Rogers stayed inside the Top 25 and gave the franchise its second entry at that level. This is a positive sign to see Captain America holding strong in the Top 25. Captain America could not build on the previous issue’s rebound, but it retained most of that improvement. This is a respectable result for the fourteenth issue of an ongoing series.

Infernal Hulk #10 climbed from the number 36 spot to the number 26 spot. Now that is encouraging! The title has improved for three consecutive issues.

Hulk has gone from bouncing around the Top 50 cutoff to approaching the Top 25. That is the kind of sustained upward movement Marvel Comics needs from its established characters. We shall see whether the next issue can keep it going.

Iron Man #8 climbed from the number 76 spot to the number 40 spot. Mr. Emma Frost is back in the Top 50.

This also puts Iron Man exactly where issue #6 ranked before the decline with issue #7. Joshua Williamson’s title has recovered that lost ground. The next challenge is keeping Iron Man here instead of sending it back down the chart.

Mortal Thor #800 climbed from the number 106 spot to the number 41 spot. Finally. Thor managed to escaped the Dead Titles Walking category and returned to the Top 50.

Of course, this was the big anniversary issue. A milestone provides an opportunity to attract attention, and Marvel Comics got a substantial improvement out of it. That is good news. Whether the next regular issue can hold on to that stronger position is another question. Thor should not need an anniversary celebration just to make the Top 50. This result gives the title a chance to rebuild some momentum. Now it needs to follow through.

Queen in Black Thor #1 had an unimpressive debut at the number 69 spot.

What If…? Captain America #1 had a weak debut at the number 81 spot.

Civil War Unmasked #4 plummeted from the number 119 spot to the number 165 spot. Ouch. Last month’s improvement disappeared in a hurry. This mini-series remains in the Dead Titles Walking category and dropping. Revisiting Civil War has not produced strong rankings for this title.

Let’s wrap things up with the lone lady of the Avengers franchise.

Captain Marvel Dark Past #5 fell from the number 189 spot and became unranked. That is an embarrassing way to conclude a five-issue mini-series. Carol Danvers continues to be an epic sales disaster.

I know that Marvel Comics editorial has been obsessed with this Captain Marvel version of Carol Danvers ever since 2012. But, the consumer sure is not. This is one of the biggest disconnects between Marvel’s editorial staff and their consumer base. It has been 14 years, and this gimmick with Carol’s character is still an abject sales disaster.

Fantastic Four Franchise

The Ultimate Universe had zero comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to July 2026, when the Ultimate Universe had zero comics in all three tiers.

Numbers were down across the board from two years ago, as the Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in August 2024.

Ultimate Impact Reborn #4 climbed from the number 114 spot to the number 87 spot. This mini-series managed to barely claw its way out of the Dead Titles Walking category. Ultimate Impact Reborn has gone from number 25 to number 94 to number 114 to number 87.

This five-issue mini-series has been an embarrassing sales failure. Remember when the Ultimate Universe was a sales juggernaut? It seemed unstoppable! Now? We are discussing whether Ultimate Impact Reborn can conclude outside of the Dead Titles Walking category.

I still believe that ending the Ultimate Universe was an enormous mistake. The terrible sales rankings sure support my belief. What a massive own goal by Marvel Comics’ editorial.

Batman #12 climbed from the number 11 spot to the number 2 spot. That is more like it! Bruce Wayne delivered the highest-ranking regular DCU comic of the month. Only Absolute Batman finished ahead of it. Different universes. Same guy at the top.

Batman & Robin Year One Dynamic Duos #1 debuted at the number 13 spot. That is an excellent opening for Mark Waid and Chris Samnee’s new twelve-issue mini-series. There is clearly an audience willing to return for another adventure with Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. Now, we shall see how much of that audience sticks around after the debut.

Batman Bad Seeds Sunset #1 grabbed a strong opening at the number 11 spot. This new big event running through the Batman franchise is poised to do well.

Detective Comics #1112 dropped from the number 57 spot to the number 80 spot. Last month’s improvement disappeared immediately. There is a seventy-eight-spot gap between Batman and Detective Comics. That is ridiculous for two ongoing titles starring the same character.

Batman Superman World’s Finest #54 fell from the number 71 spot to the number 75 spot. Putting DC Comics’ two biggest superheroes together should produce more than a title barely hanging on to the Top 75.

Nightwing #141 dropped from the number 32 spot to the number 55 spot. So much for staying in the Top 50. Dick still finished ahead of Detective Comics and World’s Finest, but the franchise needed him to hold on to last month’s stronger position.

Clayface Celebrity Dirt #2 fell from the number 16 spot to the number 30 spot. We shall see if this six-issue mini-series slides out of the Top 50 with the next issue.

Let’s check out the ladies of the Batman franchise.

Barbara Gordon Breakout #4 dipped from the number 27 spot to the number 29 spot. That is a small decline, and Barbara remains the strongest performer in this group. Holding near the Top 25 is a solid showing.

Batwoman #6 fell from the number 58 spot to the number 64 spot. Kate Kane continues to drift downward. The title is still comfortably inside the Top 75, but it needs to stop surrendering ground.

Batgirl #22 rocketed from the number 183 spot to the number 78 spot. After two consecutive issues in the Dead Titles Walking category, Batgirl escaped with room to spare. The next issue will tell us whether this is the start of a recovery or another temporary bounce.

Poison Ivy #47 climbed from the number 173 spot to the number 88 spot. The Bad Seeds crossover coincided with a much-needed improvement for Pamela Isley. Getting back into the Top 100 is welcome, although the seventy-seven-spot gap between this issue and the opening Batman special shows how uneven the crossover’s early results are.

Catwoman #90 dropped from the number 105 spot to the number 143 spot. This title is a permanent sales dud.

Harley Quinn #65 fell from the number 152 spot to the number 166 spot. Harley remains deep in the Dead Titles Walking category, with little here to suggest a turnaround.

Superman #41 dropped from the number 30 spot to the number 59 spot. That is disappointing. After two consecutive issues of improvement, Superman surrendered all that progress and fell out of the Top 50. The Kingdom of Zod crossover led to the flagship title falling in the rankings.

Action Comics #1101 fell from the number 46 spot to the number 52 spot. That is a relatively small decline following the anniversary issue. Still, Action Comics could not hold on to its Top 50 position. It is disappointing that an iconic title like Action Comics cannot make the Top 50 every month.

Superman Unlimited #16 climbed from the number 99 spot to the number 82 spot. This is the second consecutive issue to improve after issue #14 took the number 121 spot. That is encouraging movement for Dan Slott’s title. Unfortunately, it still has not made it back into the Top 75, much less become the strong seller that DC Comics needs.

Let’s move over to the Little Red S.

Supergirl #16 climbed from the number 59 spot to the number 45 spot. This is the third consecutive issue to improve in the rankings. The Kingdom of Zod helped boost this title in the rankings.

Supergirl Survive #3 returned to the Top 200 at the number 110 spot after its second issue went unranked. This six-issue mini-series remains in the Dead Titles Walking category. The ongoing Supergirl title gained ground. However, this alternate take on Kara has yet to garner much consumer interest.

Let’s wrap up with the other Superman mini-series.

Adventures of Superman Book of El #11 returned to the Top 200 at the number 158 spot after its tenth issue went unranked. This title continues to be a sales disappointment. With one issue remaining, this twelve-issue mini-series is heading toward an unimpressive finish.

Superman Father of Tomorrow #4 plummeted from the number 142 spot to the number 192 spot. Ouch. Last month’s improvement vanished, and this six-issue mini-series is now dangerously close to falling off the chart entirely. All four issues have finished in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Dark Knights of Steel II #2 plummeted from the number 31 spot to the number 66 spot. Yikes. I was worried that such a soft debut would cause this title to drop out of the Top 50. But this is steeper than I expected for this title. Dark Knights of Steel was a good seller for DC Comics. I am sure that DC Comics had high hopes for this twelve-issue mini-series.

DC X Sonic the Hedgehog Metal Legion #4 rocketed from the number 176 spot to the number 68 spot. Now that is a rebound! This five-issue mini-series escaped the Dead Titles Walking category with room to spare. We shall see whether the final issue can hold on to that improvement.

Let’s move over to the solo titles.

Fury of Firestorm #5 dipped from the number 43 spot to the number 44 spot. That is basically holding serve. This is excellent news for Jeff Lemire’s mini-series. On top of that, Firestorm has the honor of being the franchise’s highest-ranking comic this month.

This is why DC Comics announced on September 9, 2026, that Fury of Firestorm would be expanded from a six-issue mini-series to a fifteen-issue limited series. As a longtime fan of Ronnie Raymond, I am happy to see this title selling well and getting rewarded by having this limited series extended by so many issues.

Lobo #6 dropped from the number 26 spot to the number 48 spot. That is a disappointing slide for a title that had been holding up well. The Main Man stayed in the Top 50, but only just. Skottie Young’s series now needs to stop this decline before it follows the rest of the franchise out of that tier.

The Flash #36 dropped from the number 104 spot to the number 136 spot. This is the fourth consecutive issue in the Dead Titles Walking category. Last month, Wally West was close to escaping. This month, he ran in the wrong direction. This title remains broken. DC Comics needs to address this issue immediately. There is no reason for the Flash to be so low in the rankings.

Emperor Aquaman #20 dipped from the number 121 spot to the number 123 spot. Arthur remains stuck in the Dead Titles Walking category. The Emperor branding has not translated into an impressive position on the sales chart.

Let’s check out the Green Lantern titles.

Green Lantern #38 plummeted from the number 115 spot to the number 157 spot. Ouch. Last month’s improvement disappeared, leaving the main Green Lantern title deep in the bottom half of the chart. Green Lantern has been in the Dead Titles Walking category for four consecutive issues and for sixteen of the last nineteen issues. Bringing Kyle Rayner onto this title has been a misfire and has not led to any sales success. This is not that surprising given Rayner’s history of not being a strong seller.

Green Lantern Corps #19 fell from the number 116 spot to the number 131 spot. Morgan Hampton continues to have zero sales success. At some point, DC Comics editorial has to make a change at the writer position if they want to resurrect this title.

Both Green Lantern titles lost ground, and neither came close to the Top 100. DC Comics has an entire universe of characters and stories available to this franchise. These results remain miserable. The sales rankings for these two Green Lantern titles remain utterly unacceptable. It is now editorial malpractice with how DC Comics is handling the Green Lantern franchise.

Let’s wrap up with the ladies.

Zatanna #5 dropped from the number 24 spot to the number 53 spot. Damn. Last month’s excellent Top 25 result gave me hope that Zatanna was establishing herself as one of this franchise’s stronger sellers. Losing twenty-nine spots immediately afterward is a disappointment. At least the title remains within striking distance of the Top 50. Next issue is going to be pivotal.

Wonder Woman #36 dropped from the number 49 spot to the number 76 spot. Welp. That was fast. Diana’s return to the Top 50 lasted one issue. Wonder Woman now sits below the Justice League, and the Sonic crossover. That is not where one of DC Comics’ most recognizable superheroes should be.

We know that Tom King’s run on Wonder Woman concludes with Wonder Woman #40. It is time for King to exit as his run failed to establish Wonder Woman as a consistent Top 50 title. To be sure, Wonder Woman, 1/3 of the DC Comics’ Trinity, should absolutely be a consistent Top 50 seller.

The Absolute Universe had five comics in the Top 10, seven comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, better in the Top 25, but worse in the Top 50 compared to July 2026, when the franchise had five comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and nine comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were better in the Top 10 and Top 25, but flat in the Top 50, as the Absolute Universe had two comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in August 2025.

Seven new issues. Seven Top 25 finishes. Five in the Top 10. Good lord. After slogging through the regular DCU’s results, this feels like we have arrived at an entirely different publisher.

Absolute Batman #23 held steady at the number 1 spot. Twenty-three issues into the run, Scott Snyder’s title remains at the top of the chart.

The regular Batman title finished right behind it at number 2. Bruce Wayne claimed the first two spots while the rest of the industry fought over what remained. DC Comics has plenty of problems. Selling Bruce Wayne this month was not one of them.

Absolute Green Arrow #4 dipped from the number 2 spot to the number 3 spot. A one-spot decline while remaining in the Top 3? I think DC Comics can live with that.

Four issues into a six-issue mini-series, Absolute Green Arrow written by a no-name writer is outperforming every Marvel comic on the chart. That is insane. More importantly, this is well beyond the first-issue curiosity stage. The title continues to deliver elite rankings.

Absolute Catwoman #3 fell from the number 3 spot to the number 6 spot. Another decline, but another excellent finish. Meanwhile, the regular Catwoman title sits at number 143. These are different versions of the character with different creative teams, but that contrast is impossible to ignore. DC Comics has a Catwoman comic comfortably inside the Top 10 and another buried in the Dead Titles Walking category. Clearly, the name alone is not the problem.

Absolute Superman #22 climbed from the number 9 spot to the number 4 spot. Compare that with Superman #41 at number 59, Action Comics #1101 at number 52, and Superman Unlimited #16 at number 82. The Absolute version is delivering the kind of ranking that DC Comics should want from its most recognizable superhero.

Absolute Wonder Woman #23 fell from the number 6 spot to the number 10 spot. Diana surrendered four positions but held on to her Top 10 membership. The regular Wonder Woman title finished at number 76. Once again, the Absolute Universe is showing that these characters can command far stronger positions than their regular DCU counterparts are managing.

Absolute Green Lantern #17 climbed from the number 73 spot to the number 19 spot.

Absolute Flash #18 fell from the number 17 spot to the number 21 spot. A modest decline leaves Flash as the lowest-ranked new Absolute issue this month.

Think about that. The weakest new issue in this franchise finished at number 21. The regular Justice League franchise could not put a single comic in the Top 25.

The Absolute Universe also placed ten resolicitated issues in the Top 200, bringing its total chart presence to seventeen entries.

Deadman #3 climbed from the number 69 spot to the number 28 spot. Wow! What a huge rebound for this title. After the second issue fell out of the Top 50, Boston Brand came roaring back and nearly returned to the Top 25.

W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo have given DC Comics a strong performer outside of Batman and the Absolute Universe. That is precisely what this publisher needs. Deadman even finished ahead of Nightwing, Detective Comics, Justice League Unlimited, and every regular Superman-family title. That is impressive.

DC Comics also expanded this originally six-issue mini-series to twelve issues in August. More good news for Deadman fans. I love to see DC Comics rewarding mini-series that perform above expectations with additional issues. Of course, a longer run gives the creative team more room, but it also gives us more opportunities to see whether this recovery will hold. For now, this is an excellent result.

Bleeding Hearts #7 fell from the number 81 spot to the number 92 spot. Deniz Camp’s title is precarious close to falling into the Dead Titles Walking category.

Black Tower The Raven Conspiracy #1 debuted at the number 127 spot. Ouch. Ram V and Mike Perkins’ supernatural espionage six issue mini-series opened in the Dead Titles Walking category. This title is already floating belly up and dead in the water. I am not that surprised as Ram V rarely has sales success.

Doctor Strange #9 climbed from the number 188 spot to the number 133 spot. Unfortunately, Stephen Strange remains firmly in the Dead Titles Walking category. There is no reason why this title should be moored in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Sorcerer Supreme #9 plummeted from the number 83 spot to the number 152 spot. So much for that one issue reprieve from the Dead Titles Walking category. This is just more of what we always come to expect from a Steve Orlando title.

Swapping the Sorcerer Supreme title on Wanda instead of Dr. Strange has done nothing to help out either character. Hiring Steve Orlando to write another Wanda comic after all of his prior Wanda titles died in the sales chart has not worked out, either. This is just more fumbling the ball that we are used to seeing from Marvel Comics’ editorial staff.

Regicide #1 debuted at the number 104 spot. This dark fantasy mini-series narrowly missed the Top 100, but the result still puts its opening issue in the Dead Titles Walking category. There is very little room for the usual second-issue decline.

Corpse Knight #5 returned to the Top 200 at the number 119 spot after its fourth issue went unranked. That is progress. However, returning to the chart and escaping the Dead Titles Walking category are two different accomplishments. With one issue remaining, this mini-series still needs a stronger finish.

Universal Monsters Blood of the Wolf Man #3 dropped from the number 84 spot to the number 129 spot. The Universal Monsters name gets these projects attention. Keeping them in the upper half of the chart remains another matter. We shall see whether the finale can reverse this decline.

Death Vigil #1 debuted at the number 178 spot. That is a rough return for Stjepan Šejić’s series. Starting this close to the bottom of the chart makes the second issue’s performance particularly important.

Gastronomique #1 debuted at the number 121 spot. Marguerite Bennett and Helena Masellis’ new horror title began in the Dead Titles Walking category. This title is

Fall of the House of Slaughter #4 dropped from the number 129 spot to the number 185 spot. Yikes. The finale lost fifty-six positions and barely remained on the chart.

This mini-series went from number 66 to number 142 to number 129 to number 185. Three of its four issues finished in the Dead Titles Walking category. Last month’s modest improvement did not lead to a stronger conclusion.

Minor Arcana #17 returned to the Top 200 at the number 193 spot after its previous issue went unranked.

Hello Darkness #24 went unranked for the third consecutive issue.

Vampyrates! #2 fell from the number 103 spot and became unranked. The debut was already on the wrong side of the Dead Titles Walking line. The second issue disappeared from the chart entirely. That is unfortunate. I like Fred Van Lente’s work.

Cult-De-Sac #1 debuted at the number 155 spot. Ignition Press got its new horror title onto the chart, but that is still a low starting position. The next issue needs to demonstrate that this debut has some staying power.

The Twilight Zone #10 fell from the number 141 spot to the number 167 spot. This title is trending toward dropping out of the Top 200.

Alien King Killer #5 plummeted from the number 125 spot to the number 170 spot. Saladin Ahmed’s five-issue mini-series concluded with three consecutive issues in the Dead Titles Walking category. The finale landed twenty spots below issue #3. That is a miserable finish for a comic carrying the Alien name. This is also more of what we have come to expect from titles from Ahmed.

Predator vs. The Planet of the Apes #2 plummeted from the number 94 spot to the number 174 spot. Ouch. What a brutal drop in the rankings. Combining two recognizable film franchises did not even produce a Top 75 debut. Now the follow-up barely manages to stay inside the Top 175. What an embarrassment for Marvel Comics.

Marvel Comics has recognizable properties to work with here. The problem is turning that recognition into sustained demand for the comics. Neither of these results gives Marvel Comics’ editorial much to celebrate.

Event Horizon: Inferno #4 returned from being unranked to take the number 175 spot. Getting back into the Top 200 is an improvement, but this title remains deep in the Dead Titles Walking category. The return to the chart offers a little breathing room heading into the finale.

Daredevil #5 slipped from the number 7 spot to the number 8 spot. That is an excellent hold. Five issues into this run, Matt Murdock is still delivering Top 10 results. Outside of Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker, there are few other characters with the sales power of Matt Murdock. This character has been a sales beast for quite some time.

Marc Spector Moon Knight #7 climbed from the number 55 spot to the number 32 spot. That is a welcome rebound for Jed MacKay’s title. Moon Knight continues bouncing in and out of the Top 50, but this puts him comfortably back inside it. Now we need to see if the next issue can stay there.

Punisher #7 climbed from the number 62 spot to the number 36 spot. Another good rebound for Marvel Comics. Benjamin Percy’s title returns to the Top 50 after issue #6 slipped outside it.

Deathstroke the Terminator #6 fell from the number 48 spot to the number 57 spot. This knocks Tony Fleecs’ title out of the Top 50. Having said that, a nine-spot decline is hardly a collapse. Deathstroke remains comfortably inside the Top 75. The question is whether this is a brief dip or the beginning of a longer slide.

Gun Honey Doubles Down #3 plummeted from the number 87 spot to the number 140 spot. Ouch. We shall see if this four-issue mini-series can rally with the finale.

Origins of the Hood Marvel Rivals #1 debuted at the number 189 spot. That is a dreadful debut. The Marvel Rivals branding did not keep this one-shot from landing near the bottom of the Top 200. Whatever appeal the game has, this result offers little evidence that readers were eager to buy a separate Hood origin comic. Which is no surprise to me. I mean, outside of Brain Bendis, who cares about the Hood?

I still remember a quote from an interview with Bendis back in 2007 where Bendis said “like the Sentry and Echo—the Hood is one of these excellent brand new creations that no one else was touching, and that’s how they fall by the wayside.” Yeah…. This is why nobody should ever listen to Bendis. Sentry, Echo, and the Hood. Definitely three “excellent” creations right there. That is a trinity of characters guaranteed to get you a Dead Titles Walking comic.

But, you never know. Anything is possible.

What If…? Runaways #1 debuted at the number 137 spot. Ouch. Rainbow Rowell’s return to these characters landed straight in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Four entries sounds encouraging. However, three were issues of Queen in Black, including the returning first issue. Mary Jane Face It, Tiger supplied the fourth. Marvel Comics improved its total, but that improvement was concentrated in a Big Event and a one-shot issue. Not a single regular monthly female lead title from Marvel Comics made the Top 50.

DC Comics placed four female lead comics in the Top 50. This was down from six in July 2026.

Year-over-year numbers were much better than the single entry in August 2025. DC Comics also improved on its three entries in August 2024, zero in August 2023, and two in August 2022.

Marvel Comics and DC Comics tied in the Battle of the Top 25 by a score of 2-2.

The publishers also tied in the Battle of the Top 50 by a score of 4-4. That is quite a reversal from DC Comics’ 6-2 victory last month.

Among the thirty-three new issues listed above, eighteen finished in Dead Titles Walking or went unranked. That is 55% of new female-led comics. July’s published category reported thirteen of twenty-five new issues, or 52%.

Hello Kitty debuted at the number 25 spot. Now that is an excellent debut! And as someone who is married to a woman obsessed with Hello Kitty, I am not at all surprised by this debut number. Hello Kitty is massively popular.

Hello Kitty also finished ahead of every regular DCU female lead title and every Marvel female lead issue outside Queen in Black. Let that sink in for a moment.

White Sky #5 climbed from the number 175 spot to the number 126 spot.

She-Spawn #4 returned to the chart at the number 130 spot after its previous issue went unranked.

Gun Honey Doubles Down #3 plummeted from number 87 to number 140. That puts the mini-series in Dead Titles Walking with one issue remaining.

Chachu #1 debuted at the number 98 spot. Iman Vellani and Marianna Ignazzi’s new mini-series narrowly avoided the Dead Titles Walking category. Seeing titles like this from Image Comics highlight the weakening of the comic book market. Marvel Comics and DC Comics used to squeeze titles like this far out of the Top 100.

The debut gives Image Comics another title on the chart, but the real test comes next month. Can Chachu hold its position, or will the usual post-debut decline send it straight into Dead Titles Walking?

Yumi 00ex #1 debuted at the number 190 spot. Again, another example of when the comic book market was strong and Marvel Comics and DC Comics were posting big sales numbers, this is another title that would have never made the Top 200. This title four-issue mini-series will go unranked next month.
