It is time to check out the July 2026 comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier in terms of actual unit numbers. So we must settle for ICv2’s Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we must work with what we get.
Keep in mind that the Top 200 sales rankings are unit and dollar sales rankings based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub and Comic Shop Assistant POS systems at stores selling American comics around the world. During the period in which these reports were generated, over 225 stores were using the two systems.
As this is a small, non-random sample of over 3,000 stores selling American comics worldwide, these rankings may not be typical for all stores but do represent a variety of locations and store emphases.
We all know that these ICv2 sales charts are not the most ideal manner of tracking sales. However, if publishers hide their sales statistics, this is the best that we have to go by. You can see that these sales charts provide a rough indication of the market, as titles that are canceled tend to correspond with low sales rankings in these ComicHub and Comic Shop Assistant charts. I wish we had better data to analyze, but we must make do with whatever data we have these days.
The data for the July 2026 comic book sales rankings were collected over a five-week period, from July 5 – August 1, 2026.

July 2026 Comic Book Sales Rankings
The Battle for the Top 10
DC Comics took first place by placing five comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were down from the seven comics that DC Comics had in the Top 10 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as DC Comics had six comics in the Top 10 in July 2025.
Numbers were up by a massive margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in July 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had three comics in the Top 10 in July 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in July 2022.
DC Comics cooled off from the seven comics it stuffed into the Top 10 in June 2026. Still, taking five of the Top 10 spots is an excellent performance.
Of course, there is a gigantic neon warning sign attached to DC Comics’ success. All five DC Comics issues in the Top 10 came from the Absolute Universe. Absolute Batman #22 took the number 1 spot, Absolute Green Arrow #3 took the number 2 spot, Absolute Catwoman #2 took the number 3 spot, Absolute Wonder Woman #22 took the number 6 spot, and Absolute Superman #21 took the number 9 spot.That is insane dominance by the Absolute Universe. At the same time, DC Comics failed to put a single regular DCU comic in the Top 10. DC Comics is winning, but the publisher’s elite sales success is absurdly concentrated in one franchise. The Absolute Universe continues to cover up a lot of weaknesses elsewhere in DC Comics’ publishing line.

Well, three comics in the Top 10 is certainly better than the pathetic two comics Marvel Comics managed in both May and June 2026. Baby steps!
Marvel Comics also showed some nice diversity with Queen in Black #1 taking the number 5 spot, Daredevil #4 taking the number 7 spot, and Avengers Armageddon #2 taking the number 10 spot.
However, there is no way to sugarcoat the historical comparisons. Marvel Comics had eight comics in the Top 10 in July 2022, seven in July 2023, and eight in July 2024. Marvel Comics now has just three. That remains an astonishing collapse in Marvel Comics’ elite sales power.

Terminal #1 had a monster debut at the number 4 spot! Robert Kirkman, Joe Casey, and Andy Kubert managed to launch a brand-new Image Comics superhero title ahead of every Marvel Comics issue on the sales chart. That is impressive as hell.
What makes this even more encouraging for Image Comics is that Terminal #1 is not another Hasbro franchise title. Image Comics desperately needs more high-end sales success outside of Transformers and the rest of the Hasbro franchise. Terminal #1 delivering a number 4 debut is exactly what Image Comics needs.
IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 10 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 10 in July 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 10 in July 2024.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #20 took the number 8 spot. This was the special 300th issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mainline series and kicked off The City That Never Dies storyline.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise continues to be IDW Publishing’s biggest sales weapon by a country mile. In July 2024, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 powered IDW Publishing into the Top 10. Two years later, the Turtles have done it again with the franchise’s 300th issue.
The big takeaway from July 2026 is that DC Comics still controls the elite portion of the sales chart, but its dependence on the Absolute Universe is becoming comically extreme. Marvel Comics showed a modest rebound, but its historical collapse remains ugly. Meanwhile, Image Comics got a fantastic surprise from Terminal #1, while IDW Publishing once again rode the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise into the Top 10.
The Battle for the Top 25
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 11-25 range typically sell in the 80,000 to 50,000-unit range.
Marvel Comics took first place by placing ten comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the nine comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down from the thirteen comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 in July 2025.
Numbers were down by a wide margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had seventeen comics in the Top 25 in July 2024.
Numbers were down by a wide margin from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had sixteen comics in the Top 25 in July 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifteen comics in the Top 25 in July 2022.
Marvel Comics finally managed to get a win over DC Comics. After getting its ass kicked by DC Comics by a score of 5-3 in the Top 10, Marvel Comics stormed back and beat DC Comics by a score of 7-4 between the numbers 11 and 25 spots. That was enough for Marvel Comics to steal a narrow 10-9 victory in the cumulative Battle for the Top 25.
That is the good news. The bad news is pretty much everything else. Marvel Comics is still getting smoked by its historical Top 25 numbers. Marvel Comics went from seventeen comics in July 2024 to just ten comics in July 2026. That is a 41% collapse in just two years. Ten comics in July 2026 is easily Marvel Comics’ worst July Top 25 showing over our five-year comparison window.
Marvel Comics does continue to possess something that DC Comics desperately lacks: franchise diversity. Marvel Comics’ Top 25 success came from the X-Men franchise, Spider-Man franchise, Avengers franchise, Armageddon big event, Daredevil, and the new Queen in Black big event. Marvel Comics continues to have plenty of different weapons in its arsenal. The problem is that none of those weapons are generating the kind of overwhelming sales power that Marvel Comics enjoyed just a few years ago.
DC Comics took second place with nine comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the twelve comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up from the eight comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in July 2025.
Numbers were up by a wide margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had five comics in the Top 25 in July 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had eight comics in the Top 25 in July 2023.

This is an interesting result for DC Comics. On the one hand, dropping from twelve comics in June 2026 to nine comics in July 2026 is a sizable month-over-month decline. On the other hand, nine comics is still DC Comics’ best July Top 25 result across our entire five-year comparison window. DC Comics had just five comics in the Top 25 in July 2024. Going from five comics to nine comics in only two years is an excellent turnaround.
Of course, there remains the same massive flashing red warning light that follows DC Comics everywhere these days. Six of DC Comics’ nine comics in the Top 25 came from the Absolute Universe. That means the Absolute Universe accounted for 67% of DC Comics’ entire Top 25 presence. Eight of DC Comics nine comics in the Top 25 came from the Absolute Universe and the Batman franchise.
DC Comics is unquestionably stronger than it was several years ago. There is no arguing with the numbers. However, DC Comics remains dangerously dependent on the Absolute Universe and the Batman franchise. Marvel Comics has weaker individual franchises but far more franchise diversity. DC Comics has the white-hot Absolute Universe doing the heavy lifting while the rest of the publishing line struggles to keep up.

Image Comics continues to quietly put together an excellent run in the Top 25. More importantly, Image Comics did not need to rely exclusively on the Hasbro franchise to accomplish this. Image Comics had Top 25 representation from the Hasbro franchise, the Invincible Universe, and a brand-new creator-owned title. That is exactly the kind of diversification that Image Comics needs if it wants to remain a regular player near the top of the sales chart.

Vault Comics tied for fourth place with one comic in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Vault Comics had in the Top 25 in June 2026.

What is interesting to see is that both Marvel Comics has ceded ground in the Top 25 to not just DC Comics, but to a host of small publishers. Marvel Comics and DC Comics combined for nineteen of the Top 25 spots. That left six Top 25 spots for Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Dynamite Entertainment, and Vault Comics.
That is a far stronger showing by the smaller publishers than what we saw in July 2023 when Marvel Comics and DC Comics combined for twenty-four of the Top 25 spots. As the sales for Marvel Comics continue to soften it allows smaller publishers to scale up into the Top 25.
Marvel Comics wins the Battle for the Top 25 by the narrowest of margins, but there is little reason for Marvel Comics to celebrate. Marvel Comics continues to suffer a massive historical decline. DC Comics lost the battle but remains stronger than it has been in any July during our five-year comparison window.
The Battle for the Top 50
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 26-50 range typically sell in the 49,000 to 30,000-unit range.
DC Comics stormed into first place by placing twenty-three comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the twenty-one comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up by a massive margin from the fourteen comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in July 2025.
Numbers were up by a massive margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had thirteen comics in the Top 50 in July 2024.
Numbers were up by a wide margin from three years ago, as DC Comics had fifteen comics in the Top 50 in July 2023.

Holy crap. This is where DC Comics completely turned the tables on Marvel Comics.
Marvel Comics held a narrow 10-9 advantage over DC Comics in the cumulative Battle for the Top 25. Then, DC Comics absolutely destroyed Marvel Comics between the numbers 26 and 50 spots by a score of 14-7. That massive advantage allowed DC Comics to roar past Marvel Comics and take the cumulative Battle for the Top 50 by a score of 23-17.
This is important because DC Comics’ sales improvement can no longer be dismissed as simply the Absolute Universe dominating the Top 10. Yes, the Absolute Universe remains DC Comics’ most powerful sales weapon. But DC Comics is now showing considerably more depth throughout the entire Top 50.
Twenty-three comics in the Top 50 is easily DC Comics’ best July performance across our five-year comparison window. Going from thirteen comics in July 2024 to twenty-three comics in July 2026 is an insane improvement. DC Comics has increased its Top 50 presence by 77% in only two years.
The biggest concern for DC Comics remains concentration. The Absolute Universe and Batman franchise still provide a massive amount of DC Comics’ sales power. However, unlike earlier in the Absolute Universe era, DC Comics is now getting more regular DCU titles into the Top 50 as well.
That is exactly what DC Comics needed to do. The Absolute Universe can be the rocket engine, but the regular DCU must provide enough additional thrust to keep the entire publishing line moving forward.

Holy shit. What an epic mess the House of the Mouse is in the Top 50. Marvel Comics losing eight Top 50 spots in just one month is awful. Going from twenty-seven comics in July 2025 to seventeen comics in July 2026 is even worse.
However, the three-year comparison is downright horrifying. Marvel Comics had thirty-one comics in the Top 50 in July 2023. Now, Marvel Comics has seventeen comics in the Top 50. Marvel Comics has lost fourteen Top 50 spots in three years. That is a 45% collapse.
Marvel Comics’ greatest strength remains its broad collection of franchises. The X-Men franchise, Spider-Man franchise, Fantastic Four franchise, Hulk franchise, Avengers franchise, and various other characters all provide Marvel Comics with plenty of different avenues into the Top 50.
The problem is that Marvel Comics’ franchise diversity is no longer translating into overwhelming sales depth. For years, Marvel Comics could throw wave after wave of franchises into the market and comfortably dominate the Top 50. That machine is broken. There is absolutely no excuse for Marvel Comics to be getting doubled up by DC Comics in the 26-50 range.
Image Comics took third place by placing six comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales doubled from the three comics that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up from the four comics that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in July 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as Image Comics had five comics in the Top 50 in July 2024.

Image Comics had an excellent month.
Six comics is Image Comics’ best July Top 50 showing anywhere in our five-year comparison window. This is exactly the kind of performance that Image Comics needs.
For a while, Image Comics’ Top 50 strategy was frighteningly dependent on the Hasbro franchise. As that franchise cooled from its initial explosion, Image Comics needed other properties to step forward. That is now happening. Image Comics has increasingly shown the ability to generate Top 50 success from several different corners of its publishing line rather than simply praying that Transformers carries the entire company.
IDW Publishing placed two comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 50 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down from the three comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 50 in July 2025.
Numbers were flat compared to two years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 50 in July 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 50 in July 2023.

IDW Publishing rebounded nicely after getting completely shut out of the Top 50 in June 2026.
Still, IDW Publishing remains almost entirely dependent on its powerful licensed franchises. That strategy can produce individual Top 50 hits, but there is very little depth behind them.
Two Top 50 comics is a good month for IDW Publishing. But this publisher remains a long way from becoming a consistent threat to Image Comics.
Dynamite Entertainment placed one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were flat compared to the one comic that Dynamite Entertainment had in the Top 50 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Dynamite Entertainment had zero comics in the Top 50 in July 2025.

Vault Comics placed one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Vault Comics had in the Top 50 in June 2026.

The larger picture in the Battle for the Top 50 is fascinating. DC Comics and Marvel Comics combined for forty of the fifty spots in July 2026. That left ten spots for publishers outside of the Big Two. The Big Two combined for forty-one Top 50 comics in July 2025, thirty-nine in July 2024, forty-six in July 2023, and forty-three in July 2022.
So, this continues to be not simply a story of Marvel Comics losing market share to DC Comics. Some of Marvel Comics’ lost territory is also being occupied by Image Comics and smaller publishers.
However, the headline is impossible to ignore. DC Comics beat Marvel Comics in the Battle for the Top 50 by a score of 23-17. Three years ago, Marvel Comics crushed DC Comics 31-15 in July 2023. Marvel Comics held a sixteen-comic advantage. Now, DC Comics holds a six-comic advantage. That is a twenty-two-comic swing in the balance of power between Marvel Comics and DC Comics in only three years.
Marvel Comics still has greater franchise diversity. Marvel Comics still has an enormous library of A-list characters. Marvel Comics still has every structural advantage necessary to dominate the Top 50. None of that matters if the editorial staff remain utterly clueless and cannot convert those advantages into sales.
The Battle for the Top 75
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 51-75 range typically sell in the 29,000 to 25,000-unit range.
DC Comics took first place by placing thirty comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up slightly from the twenty-nine comics that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up from the twenty-seven comics that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in July 2025.
Numbers were up by a massive margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had eighteen comics in the Top 75 in July 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-five comics in the Top 75 in July 2023.
Numbers were up by a wide margin from four years ago, as DC Comics had nineteen comics in the Top 75 in July 2022.
Marvel Comics fought back between spots 51 and 75 by beating DC Comics by a score of 12-7. However, Marvel Comics could not erase the deficit that DC Comics had already built. The result is that DC Comics wins the cumulative Battle for the Top 75 by the razor-thin score of 30-29.
Thirty comics is DC Comics’ best July Top 75 showing anywhere in our five-year comparison window. The Absolute Universe unquestionably remains the publisher’s biggest weapon. The Batman franchise remains another major pillar. However, we are beginning to see DC Comics getting enough help from the rest of its publishing line to compete across a much broader portion of the sales chart. This is exactly what DC Comics needed.
There is also something important about the way DC Comics won the Top 75. Marvel Comics beat DC Comics by five comics between spots 51 and 75. DC Comics did not win because it flooded the lower end of this range with mediocre-selling titles. DC Comics won because it established such a massive advantage higher up the sales chart that Marvel Comics could not catch them. That is much more impressive.
Marvel Comics fell into second place with twenty-nine comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down by a wide margin from the thirty-five comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 75 in June 2026.

What makes this particularly frustrating for Marvel Comics is that the publisher continues to have fantastic franchise diversity. Marvel Comics has Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Daredevil, Star Wars, and numerous other characters and franchises capable of producing Top 75 comics. DC Comics would kill for that kind of broad franchise arsenal.

Image Comics is not simply popping one random issue into the Top 25 and then disappearing. The publisher has legitimate representation throughout the Top 75.

Of course, IDW Publishing remains heavily dependent on licensed properties. That is simply the publisher’s business model at this point. But July 2026 shows why owning the publishing rights to recognizable franchises can still be extremely valuable when those properties are firing on all cylinders.

The Battle for the Top 75 gives us perhaps the most important publisher story of July 2026. Marvel Comics and DC Comics have completely reversed their historical positions. In July 2022, Marvel Comics destroyed DC Comics by a score of 46-19 in the Top 75. Marvel Comics held a twenty-seven-comic advantage.
Now? DC Comics beats Marvel Comics 30-29. That means we have experienced a twenty-eight-comic swing in the Top 75 balance of power between Marvel Comics and DC Comics compared to July 2022.
Image Comics put together one of its strongest July performances in years. And IDW Publishing just delivered its best July Top 75 showing in our five-year comparison window. The American comic book sales market looks radically different in July 2026 than it did just a few years ago.
The Battle for the Top 100
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 76-100 range typically sell in the 24,000 to 18,000-unit range.
DC Comics took first place by placing thirty-nine comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up slightly from the thirty-eight comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up from the thirty-five comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2025.
Numbers were up by a massive margin from two years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-four comics in the Top 100 in July 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had thirty comics in the Top 100 in July 2023.
Numbers were up by a wide margin from four years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-seven comics in the Top 100 in July 2022.
Well, damn. Look at that. DC Comics won the Battle for the Top 100. Marvel Comics and DC Comics battled to a 9-9 draw between spots 76 and 100. That meant Marvel Comics was unable to erase the one-comic advantage that DC Comics held after the Top 75. DC Comics therefore takes the cumulative Battle for the Top 100 by the score of 39-38.
That is a phenomenal result for DC Comics. DC Comics has now posted its best July Top 100 performance anywhere in our five-year comparison window.
Of course, the Absolute Universe remains the brightest star in DC Comics’ galaxy. Batman also remains a massive sales weapon. DC Comics would still love to get considerably more firepower out of franchises like Superman, Justice League, Green Lantern, and the rest of the regular DCU. But the sales chart is the sales chart. Thirty-nine comics in the Top 100 is an excellent result.
The reason DC Comics won was due to Marvel Comics completely imploding.
Marvel Comics fell into second place with just thirty-eight comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down by a grotesque margin from the forty-seven comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 100 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down by a massive margin from the fifty-one comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2025.
Numbers were also down by a massive margin from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-one comics in the Top 100 in July 2024.
Numbers were down by a massive margin from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-four comics in the Top 100 in July 2023.
Numbers were down by a grotesque margin from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty-eight comics in the Top 100 in July 2022.
Marvel Comics went from fifty-one comics in July 2025 to thirty-eight comics in July 2026. That is a loss of thirteen Top 100 spots in a single year. Marvel Comics has lost twenty Top 100 spots compared to July 2022.
Marvel Comics can no longer hide behind the excuse that their poor performance in the Top 100 is simply due to DC Comics’ getting a temporary sales bump from the Absolute Universe. Marvel Comics lost thirteen Top 100 spots year-over-year while DC Comics gained four. Marvel Comics did not merely lose market share to DC Comics. Some of Marvel Comics’ missing market share is flowing to Image Comics and the smaller publishers. That is the even bigger problem.
Image Comics took third place by placing fourteen comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the eleven comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in June 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up by a wide margin from the eight comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in July 2025.
Numbers were flat compared to two years ago, as Image Comics also had fourteen comics in the Top 100 in July 2024.

The Hasbro franchise remains an important part of Image Comics’ strategy, but Image Comics is increasingly generating sales from the Invincible Universe, creator-owned comics, Universal Monsters, and other properties. This diversification is critical.

The Battle for the Top 100 gives us the clearest picture yet of how dramatically the American comic book sales market has changed.
Marvel Comics and DC Comics combined for eighty-five of the Top 100 comics in July 2022. In July 2026, the Big Two combined for just seventy-seven. That means publishers outside of Marvel Comics and DC Comics claimed twenty-three spots in the July 2026 Top 100. At this point, everyone is benefiting from Marvel Comics’ implosion. That should set off every alarm inside Marvel Comics’ editorial offices.
The Joshua Williamson Award For The Writer With The Most Titles In The Top 50
Two writers had two issues from the same title in the Top 50.
Che Grayson had two issues from the same title with Absolute Catwoman #2 at the number 3 spot and Absolute Catwoman #1 at the number 47 spot.
Joe Kelly had two issues from the same title with Amazing Spider-Man #33 at the number 13 spot and Amazing Spider-Man #32 at the number 41 spot. Joe Kelly is credited as the writer of both issues.
Eight writers had two issues from different titles in the Top 50.
Joe Casey had two issues from different titles and from two different publishers, with Terminal #1 at the number 4 spot and Ben 10 #3 at the number 18 spot. Casey co-wrote Terminal #1 with Robert Kirkman and wrote Ben 10 #3.
Kelly Thompson had two issues from different titles with Absolute Wonder Woman #22 at the number 6 spot and Jeff the Land Shark Superstar #1 at the number 37 spot. Thompson is credited as the writer of both comics.
Chip Zdarsky had two issues from different titles with Avengers Armageddon #2 at the number 10 spot and Captain America #13 at the number 20 spot. Zdarsky is credited as the writer of both issues.
Jeff Lemire had two issues from different titles with Absolute Flash #17 at the number 17 spot and Fury of Firestorm #4 at the number 43 spot. Lemire is credited as the writer of both comics.
Jed MacKay had two issues from different titles with X-Men #33 at the number 21 spot and X-Men: The Hellfire Murder #1 at the number 38 spot. MacKay wrote X-Men #33 and was one of the writers on X-Men: The Hellfire Murder #1.

This also snaps Deniz Camp’s two-month winning streak. There is no doubt that Snyder has one hell of a sales machine at his disposal with the Absolute Universe. However, just like we said with Deniz Camp last month, having access to a white-hot franchise is one thing. Taking full advantage of that opportunity is another. Snyder is doing exactly that.
Absolute Batman remains an unstoppable sales monster, and Absolute Catwoman has exploded out of the gate. Scott Snyder is sitting right at the center of the hottest franchise in American comic books, and July 2026 gives him a well-deserved Joshua Williamson Award.

The Reign of the Superboys never became a true sales monster. It provided a modest boost to portions of the Superman publishing line and maintained some presence in the Top 50 during its earlier months. However, the event never generated a Top 25 comic and has now completely disappeared from the Top 50.

This was the retention test that we were waiting for after Avengers Armageddon #1 enjoyed all of the normal sales advantages that come with launching a heavily promoted Big Event. Avengers Armageddon #2 passed that test.

Queen in Black Defenders of Light and Dark #1, which had a terrible debut at number 118. This three-issue mini-series from Al Ewing is destined to be a Dead Title Walking.

M.A.S.K. #2 crashed from the number 6 spot with M.A.S.K. #1 in June 2026 to the number 35 spot in July 2026. Ouch. We knew that M.A.S.K. #1 benefited from all the usual advantages attached to a heavily promoted debut issue. Skybound threw an aggressive launch campaign behind the title, and M.A.S.K. #1 responded by exploding into the number 6 spot. The real test was always going to be M.A.S.K. #2.
Well, now we have our answer. M.A.S.K. #2 is still a Top 50 comic. That is certainly not a disaster for a property that had been largely dormant in the comic book market for decades. Now the question becomes whether M.A.S.K. stabilizes around the Top 40 or whether this is just the beginning of a continued slide down the sales chart.
Transformers #34 climbed slightly from the number 16 spot with Transformers #33 in June 2026 to the number 15 spot in July 2026. This title is no longer the ridiculous Top 5 sales monster that we saw throughout much of 2024. However, Transformers continues to reliably hang around the Top 20.
G.I. Joe #24 held steady at the number 51 spot, which is exactly where G.I. Joe #23 ranked in June 2026. G.I. Joe is apparently determined to stand outside the Top 50 with its nose pressed against the glass. This is now the second straight month where G.I. Joe has missed the Top 50 by exactly one spot.
G.I. Joe used to be a reliable Top 50 seller and, earlier in its run, was capable of much better than that. Now this title appears to have established a new baseline right around the number 50 mark.
Void Rivals #32 climbed from the number 92 spot with Void Rivals #31 in June 2026 to the number 85 spot in July 2026. Void Rivals has now posted back-to-back improvements after falling into the Dead Titles Walking category earlier this year.
G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #330 rocketed from the number 153 spot to the number 101 spot in July 2026. Wow! G.I. Joe A Real American Hero almost escaped the Dead Titles Walking category entirely.
The big question is whether this is a legitimate readership rebound or simply a one-month spike. This title has bounced around wildly before, so I need to see another strong ranking in August before declaring that anything has fundamentally changed.
Transformers The Movie 40th Anniversary Edition #2 fell from the number 60 spot with the first issue in June 2026 completely out of the Top 200 in July 2026.
G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #117 Hama Files Edition also went unranked. The June Hama Files Edition also went unranked. There simply does not appear to be much demand for these individual deluxe-newsprint reprints when readers have numerous other ways to access Larry Hama’s classic G.I. Joe material.
Overall, the Hasbro franchise is in an interesting position. Transformers remains a dependable Top 25 seller. M.A.S.K. remains in the Top 50 despite its brutal second issue drop. G.I. Joe is sitting right outside the Top 50. The Hasbro franchise is still valuable, and it is still successful. But the insane heat of 2024 is gone.

Gunslinger Spawn #56 climbed back into the Top 200 at the number 196 spot after Gunslinger Spawn #55 went unranked in June 2026.
Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger Spawn #16 also climbed back into the Top 200 after Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger Spawn #15 went unranked in June 2026. Unfortunately, issue #16 could do no better than the number 200 spot.

Year-over-year numbers were flat, as Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in July 2025. Ghost Machine had Geiger #16 at number 95 and Redcoat #13 at number 112 that month.
Numbers were worse from two years ago, as Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in July 2024. Geiger #4 took the number 46 spot, Rook Exodus #4 took the number 49 spot, and Redcoat #4 took the number 62 spot.
Geiger #24 fell from the number 83 spot with Geiger #23 to the number 132 spot. Geiger #23 had climbed from number 107 to number 83 in May 2026, so it looked like this title might be showing some life again. Instead, Geiger #24 plunged forty-nine spots and landed deep inside the Dead Titles Walking category.
Hyde Street #14 remained unranked for the second consecutive issue.
The Rocketfellers #13 went unranked for the tenth consecutive month.
Last month, I said that a number 158 debut left Trillion Dollar Kid virtually nowhere to go with issue #2 except out of the Top 200 entirely. And that is exactly what happened.
This title also tied directly into The Rocketfellers and Hornsby & Halo as part of the larger Unbelievables concept. Again, Ghost Machine clearly hoped that an interconnected universe would encourage readers to sample multiple titles. Instead, Trillion Dollar Kid #2 went unranked.
Inconsistent shipping schedules certainly have not helped the Ghost Machine franchise at all. To be sure, Ghost Machine is not selling nearly as well as it did when it first broke onto the scene.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a wide margin, as the Godzilla franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in July 2025.
Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla #1 had a good debut at the number 34 spot. This is exactly what IDW Publishing desperately needed from the Godzilla franchise. Of course, the real test comes with issue #2. IDW Publishing has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to generate curiosity for a #1 issue and then watch the readership disappear almost immediately.
The Horror of Godzilla #1 debuted at the number 61 spot. The first issue of a four-issue Kai-Sei Era prequel focused on Godzilla’s first attack in 1954. This is not an impressive debut so it will be interesting to see if the second issue can stay in the Top 100.
To this point, the entire Kai-Sei Era has been a gigantic disappointment so far. The original Godzilla title steadily collapsed down the rankings, while various spin-offs struggled even worse. We shall see how this latest offering performs.
Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #1 had an ordinary debut at the number 65 spot. This is an unimpressive debut number for this five-issue mini-series. And Marvel Comics threw Godzilla into a story involving Knull, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Kang, Emma Frost, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Man-Thing, and a pile of multiversal insanity.

This also snaps the brutal two-issue sales slide that saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #17 take the number 39 spot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #18 fall to number 67, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #19 drop again to number 87.
Of course, there is an enormous asterisk attached to this incredible rebound. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #20 is not a normal issue. This is the special 300th issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mainline series. IDW Publishing gave readers a 52-page $6.99 milestone issue celebrating forty-one years and 300 issues of TMNT history. The issue also launches the new “The City That Never Dies” storyline.
Therefore, I am not remotely ready to declare that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has suddenly transformed from a comic selling at number 87 into a regular Top 10 sales monster. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #21 will be the real test. If issue #21 remains somewhere in the Top 25 or even the Top 40, then IDW Publishing may have successfully used the 300th issue and “The City That Never Dies” to bring readers back to the ongoing title.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Last Ronin—Training Day debuted at the number 68 spot. This is a $7.99 one-shot from Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz. I was not expecting a big sales ranking.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder #10 returned to the Top 200 at the number 160 spot after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder #9 went unranked in June 2026.

Star Trek: Red Shirts—Ghost of the 21st Century #1 had an absolutely brutal debut by failing to make the Top 200 and going unranked. Good lord. What makes this even worse is that IDW Publishing already tried the Red Shirts concept one year ago. Star Trek: Red Shirts #1 debuted at the number 171 spot in July 2025. That was already terrible. One year later, IDW Publishing goes back to the Red Shirts well with another #1 issue and cannot even crack the Top 200. That is regression from an already awful starting point.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy—Lost Contact #4 went unranked for a fourth consecutive issue. IDW Publishing attempted to use the Starfleet Academy television property as the foundation for another Star Trek comic. The sales chart has responded with complete indifference.
Star Trek: The Last Starship #9 was unranked for the ninth consecutive issue. More of Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly doing what they do best.
Star Trek is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary in 2026. This should be the perfect opportunity for IDW Publishing to create excitement around the franchise. Instead, July 2026 gave us three Star Trek comics. All three went unranked.

With this issue, this mini-series has concluded. Star Wars: Shadow of Maul dropped out of the Top 50 with the third issue. Then it dropped out of the Top 75 with the fourth issue. And then it managed to sneak back into the Top 75 for its fifth issue. That is not exactly lighting up the sales charts. But it is better than most Star Wars titles that simply crash and burn in the rankings.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire #4 rocketed from the number 191 spot to the number 139 spot in July 2026. Of course, when you are about to drop out of the Top 200, you have plenty of room for improvement. We shall see if this five-issue mini-series is able to escape the Dead Titles Walking category with its final issue.

Amazing Spider-Man #33 climbed from the number 32 spot to the number 13 spot in July 2026. This was to be expected as Amazing Spider-Man usually ships multiple issues in the same month.
Punisher vs. Spider-Man #1 had a solid debut at the number 22 spot. This is a five-issue mini-series from Dan Abnett that stars two commercially proven characters in Peter Parker and Frank Castle. We also got the magic #1 on the cover. I would have expected to see this debut closer to the Top 15.
We shall see what the second issue does. But a number 22 debut does not give it much room for the customary second-issue drop and still allow this title to remain in the Top 50.
Spider-Man Long Way Home #2 plummeted from the number 25 spot to the number 54 spot. Ouch. See what I was talking about above. It is tough to stay in the top 50 when the debut number barely makes the Top 25. This five-issue mini-series continues to perform much worse than I expected considering the talent and characters attached to it.
Spectacular Spider-Man Brand New Day #3 fell from the number 79 spot to the number 108. With just the third issue, this five-issue mini-series is already a Dead Title Walking. What a brutal result for Dan Slott.
What If…? Spider-Man #1 had a mediocre debut at the number 96 spot.
It’s Symbie #1 had an unimpressive debut at the number 75 spot. Symbie is Marvel Comics’ attempt to build another cute character in the same general lane as Jeff the Land Shark. This one-shot definitely did not perform as well as Marvel’s other cute character, Jeff the Land Shark.
Let’s check out the knock-off Spider-Men.
Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Versity #4 rebounded from the number 147 spot to the number 109 spot. This five-issue mini-series cannot escape the Dead Titles Walking category.
Let’s wrap up with the lady of the Spider-Man franchise.
Black Cat #12 fell from the number 29 spot to the number 44 spot in July 2026. There is the answer to the question we had last month. Black Cat #11 jumped sixteen spots to number 29 with the Frank Castle guest starring in the issue. Black Cat #12 continued the Punisher confrontation and still fell fifteen spots to number 44.
Still, the number 44 spot is a perfectly respectable sales ranking for the twelfth issue of a Black Cat ongoing. In fact, Black Cat continues to outperform numerous Marvel Comics starring characters who are supposedly much more popular and important. That is a legitimate accomplishment.

July 2026 was a nice rebound month for the X-Men franchise! Let’s kick things off with the team titles.
Uncanny X-Men #31 rocketed from the number 39 spot to the number 19 spot. Uncanny X-Men #32 dropped from the number 19 spot to the number 25 spot. That is a good result for shipping two issues in the same sales month. This title has not returned to the monster Top 10 sales power it used to have. But July was a big positive sign for Uncanny X-Men.
X-Men #33 leaped from the number 57 spot to the number 21 spot. X-Men #34 then plunged from the number 21 spot to the number 52 spot. That is a bit larger of a drop than I would want to see from a big-name title like X-Men when shipping two issues in the same sales month.
X-Men The Hellfire Murder #1 had an okay debut at the number 38 spot. This was a 56-page, $7.99 one-shot built around a murder mystery at the Hellfire Gala, with Wolverine and Jubilee investigating and a large collection of X-Men writers contributing to the issue. Still, this is better than most oversized special issues loaded with different creative teams.
X-Men ’97 Season Two #2 fell from the number 47 spot to the number 60 spot. That is a reasonable second-issue decline. Having said that, I do not believe that Steve Foxe’s five-issue mini-series has much of a chance of staying in the Top 75 with the next issue.
Inglorious X-Force #7 exploded from the number 132 spot to the number 88 spot in July 2026. What a great rebound to escape the Dead Titles Walking category! It will be interesting to see if the next issue can build on this momentum.
X-Men Outback #2 crashed from the number 84 spot to the number 113 spot. Brutal. X-Men Outback is now a Dead Title Walking with just its second issue. This is what we have come to expect from any title written by Steve Orlando. This five-issue mini-series is officially dead in the water.
Let’s hop over to the dudes of the X-Men franchise.
Gambit Wanted #1 had a fantastic debut at the number 11 spot! Marvel Comics brought Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont back for this five-issue mini-series, with Robert Gill handling the artwork. The story returns to the period when Gambit first joined the X-Men.
Obviously, this combination connected with readers. This strong debut number allows Gambit Wanted plenty of room to absorb the normal second issue drop and remain comfortably inside the Top 50. If issue #2 can remain inside the Top 25, then Marvel Comics will have a legitimate hit on its hands.
Wolverine #23 had an excellent rebound by climbing from the number 65 spot to the number 33 spot. Wolverine #24 then fell to the number 56 spot. Wolverine is one of the premier Marvel Comics characters and should be able to easily ship two issues in the same sales month and get one in the Top 25 and one in the Top 50.
Bishop #2 got absolutely annihilated. Bishop #2 crashed and burned, falling from the number 55 spot to the number 128 spot. This title got absolutely annihilated. I was worried about this after Bishop #1 posted such an unimpressive debut number. There is no excuse as to why a title starring Bishop is a Dead Title Walking with just the second issue. Saladin Ahmed continues to underperform in the sales chart. This five-issue mini-series is cooked.
Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the X-Men franchise.
Generation X-23 #6 climbed from the number 171 spot to the number 158 spot. Jody Houser’s title predictably remains buried deep in the Dead Titles Walking category.
Moonstar #5 climbed from the number 195 spot to the number 162 spot. With this issue, this mini-series has concluded. Ashley Allen’s title was a miserable sales failure. Moonstar was a Dead Title Walking with just the third issue.

Having said that, Infernal Hulk has climbed up in the sales rankings for two consecutive issues. This title may be establishing some genuine momentum.
Mortal Thor #13 climbed from the number 122 spot to the number 106. Whoopee? The fact that Mortal Thor is still a Dead Title Walking is unacceptable. This franchise used to be a regular Top 50 seller.
Civil War Unmasked #3 climbed from the number 137 spot with Civil War Unmasked #2 in June 2026 to the number 119 spot in July 2026. Nostalgia has not paid off for this title.
Wonder Man #5 remained unranked for the second consecutive month. And with that, Gerry Duggan’s five-issue Wonder Man mini-series mercifully comes to an end. What a massive sales disaster. This mini-series debuted in the Dead Titles Walking category and then fell out of the Top 200 with the fourth issue. Just brutal.
Let’s wrap things up with the sole lady of the Avengers franchise.
Captain Marvel Dark Past #4 plummeted from the number 145 spot to the number 189 spot. Brutal. This title almost dropped out of the Top 200 altogether. Captain Marvel Dark Past has just one issue remaining. At this rate, it will be fortunate to conclude inside the Top 200 at all.

Marvel Comics’ strategy with Ultimate Impact Reborn was obvious. The publisher had spent two years turning the Ultimate Universe into one of its strongest sales brands. Marvel Comics clearly hoped that some of that sales magic could survive after Earth-6160 ended by transferring Ultimate concepts into the regular Marvel Universe.
The sales chart is rejecting that idea. Ultimate Impact Reborn #3 features Miles Morales, Iron Man, the Ultimate Origin Boxes, a new Wonder Man, Sightseer, and the continuing attempt to bring Ultimate-style characters into Earth-616.
What an own goal by Marvel Comics to just end the Ultimate Universe for no reason. Now we are seeing what happens when Marvel Comics tries to transfer the branding without transferring the reader attachment. Readers are not interested.

Detective Comics #1111 climbed from the number 80 spot to the number 57 spot. Detective Comics desperately needed this rebound. This title has spent far too much time outside of the Top 50 despite starring the single most commercially powerful character at DC Comics.
Detective Comics 2026 Annual #1 had an okay debut at the number 69 spot.
Batman Superman World’s Finest #53 climbed from the number 75 spot to the number 71 spot.
This title remains one of the most frustrating comics on DC Comics’ publishing slate. There is no reason for a title starring the two most iconic superheroes of all-time to struggle to even make the Top 75.
Batman Superman World’s Finest 2026 Annual #1 debuted at the number 102 spot. This is no surprise given how the regular title is selling these days.
Let’s move over to the Bat-boy.
Nightwing #140 rocketed from the number 85 spot to the number 32 spot. What a huge rebound for Dick Grayson. Nightwing had been drifting in the wrong direction for months. This rebound is good news for DC Comics.
Let’s check out the sole villain title.
Clayface Celebrity Dirt #1 had a fantastic debut at the number 16 spot. Impressive! That is much better than I expected.
This is a six-issue mini-series by Jude Ellison S. Doyle and Fran Galán. Doyle is a total rando that I have never heard about before. Evidently, Doyle is a feminist author who is known for the blog Tiger Beatdown. Not sure how any of that equals being a mainstream superhero comic book writer. But here we are. If my pugs had a halfway decent agent, they would get hired by DC Comics these days.
You know what I do know? The numbers don’t lie. Clayface Celebrity Dirt #1 crushed it in the sales chart. Is Calyface more popular than I knew?
Let’s wrap things up with the ladies of the Batman franchise.
Barbara Gordon Breakout #3 climbed from the number 33 spot to the number 27 spot. This was a nice rebound, but it looks like this title probably has no chance of climbing back into the Top 25. Next issue will be critical in predicting the second half of this six-issue mini-series.
Batwoman #5 fell from the number 49 spot to the number 58 spot. Batwoman finally fell outside of the Top 50, but this title has performed substantially better than I expected when it debuted. No, Batwoman has never been an elite seller. But it is a respectable showing that this title is still well inside of the Top 75.
Catwoman #89 shot up from the number 185 spot to the number 105 spot. This title will never escape the Dead Titles Walking category no matter what.
Harley Quinn #64 climbed from unranked to the number 152 spot. Hooray? This title remains a chronic sales failure.
Gotham Academy: First Year #6 remained unranked. With this issue, this mini-series has now concluded. This title went unranked for all six issues. Talk about publishing a comic book for an audience that only exists in the imagination of DC Comics editorial staff.

Superman #40 climbed from the number 36 spot to the number 30 spot. Superman has now moved upward in back-to-back issues. This is a positive sign for this title. After watching Superman spend far too much time outside the Top 50 over the past year, establishing itself around the number 30 spot is a welcome improvement.
Action Comics #1100 rocketed from the number 96 spot to the number 46 spot. Damn! That is a great rebound, and Action Comics finally returned to the Top 50.
Of course, there is a gigantic asterisk attached to this ranking. This is Action Comics #1100, which is a massive milestone issue. So, we shall have to see what the next issue does in the sales rankings before getting too excited.
Superman Annual Year One Thousand #1 had a solid debut at the number 50 spot.
Supergirl #15 climbed from the number 71 spot to the number 59 spot. This title has now climbed in the sales rankings for two consecutive months. We shall see if a return to the Top 50 is possible or if this was just a momentary sales bump.
Superman Unlimited #15 climbed from the number 121 spot to the number 99 spot. This title barely managed to escape the Dead Titles Walking category.
Superman Father of Tomorrow #3 climbed from the number 180 spot to the number 142 spot. This is the third consecutive month that this title has been stuck in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Justice League Unlimited #21 climbed from the number 50 spot to the number 40 spot. This is a positive sign, but a Justice League title from Mark Waid and Dan Mora should be selling inside the Top 25.
Justice League Knight Vision Special #1 had a disappointing debut at the number 79 spot. This title has big-name talent on it with Mark Waid and Joshua Williamson. It had an intriguing story hook with Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor teaming up. But the consumers were not excited about this offering.
Let’s hop over to the dudes of the Justice League franchise.
Lobo #5 climbed from the number 27 spot to the number 26 spot. This is fantastic. Lobo remains a strong seller. This title just refuses to drop in the sales rankings. Skottie Young’s Lobo title continues to be one of the biggest, pleasant surprises at DC Comics.
Even more impressive is that Lobo is outperforming Justice League Unlimited, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and numerous other supposedly more important DC Comics titles.
Fury of Firestorm #4 climbed from the number 53 spot to the number 43 spot. All right! This was a nice rebound to see! As a long-time fan of both Jeff Lemire and Ronny Raymond, I am glad to see this title bouncing back up in the rankings.
DC Comics needs more results like this. Instead of constantly producing bizarre Justice League spin-offs that nobody asked for, give recognizable characters talented creators and straightforward superhero concepts.
The Flash #35 climbed from the number 125 spot to the number 104 spot. This is horrendous. The Flash has been in the Dead Titles Walking category for three consecutive issues and for four of the past six issues. Until DC Comics finds a solution, The Flash remains one of the most embarrassing underperformers in the entire Justice League franchise.
Emperor Aquaman #19 climbed from the number 146 spot to the number 121 spot. Aquaman remains buried inside the Dead Titles Walking category with no hope for the future.
Let’s slide over to the Green Lantern comics.
Green Lantern #37 climbed from the number 141 spot to the number 115 spot. Green Lantern has been in the Dead Titles Walking category for 15 of the past 18 issues. Pathetic. DC Comics once had an entire family of Green Lantern titles that were dependable sellers. This is an incredible destruction of a franchise.
Green Lantern Corps #18 climbed from the number 155 spot to the number 116 spot. This title has been in the Dead Titles Walking category for twelve consecutive months. Embarrassing.
A Green Lantern Corps comic should be one of the easiest concepts at DC Comics to sell. Space cops. Aliens. Multiple recognizable Green Lanterns. Endless worlds and villains. And yet this title cannot get anywhere close to the Top 50.
Morgan Hampton has never had sales success, and it sure is not going to start with this title. DC Comics must shake things up at the writer spot to get more out of this valuable franchise.
Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Justice League franchise.
Zatanna #4 rocketed from the number 42 spot to the number 24 spot. Hot damn! What a great result for one of my favorite Italian-American superheroes! Jamal Campbell’s Zatanna continues to be easily one of the best results in the entire Justice League franchise.
Wonder Woman #35 shot up from the number 100 spot to the number 49 spot. This is the highest in the sales rankings since Wonder Woman #32 took the number 50 spot.
DC’s Hawk-Girl Summer #1 failed to make the Top 200 and went unranked. That was a brutal debut for this one-shot issue. Of course, Hawkgirl has never sold well. And this was an 80-page, $9.99 anthology. These types of issues rarely do well in the sales chart.
Overall, what is so fascinating is that Zatanna is a Top 25 title. Lobo almost made it back into the Top 25. Firestorm is in the Top 50. Yet, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and Aquaman are all inside the Dead Titles Walking category.
This is wild. The supposedly secondary Justice League characters are outperforming multiple members who have traditionally been treated as major pillars of the DC Universe.

The Absolute Universe cooled off from its ridiculous June 2026 performance. Of course, “cooling off” means five comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and nine comics in the Top 50. That is still complete market domination.
Let’s start with the sun around which the Absolute Universe revolves.
Absolute Batman #22 held steady at the number 1 spot. Twenty-two issues into this title, Absolute Batman is still the best-selling comic in the market. Absolute Batman has snagged the number 1 spot in three consecutive months. Even more insane is that Absolute Batman has scored the number 1 spot in 14 out of its 22 issues to date. Incredible.
Even more absurd is the backlist demand. Absolute Batman #21 came back at number 29. Absolute Batman #20 came back at number 80. Absolute Batman #15 is somehow still hanging around the Top 200 at number 185.
Absolute Green Arrow #3 climbed from the number 4 spot to the number 2 spot. I continue to believe this might be the most impressive sales story in the entire Absolute Universe. Green Arrow has never sold well. And on top of that, DC Comics puts a no-name writer on this title. And the result is that three issues in, this title is still a Top 5 seller.
Absolute Catwoman #2 dipped from the number 2 spot to the number 3 spot. Again, a character that has sold like garbage for forever. Scott Snyder is a big-name writer, but the co-writer is a no-name writer in Che Grayson. The Absolute Universe simply cannot miss! It turns characters and writers who have never had any sales success into monster hits. This is amazing.
Absolute Wonder Woman #22 climbed from the number 9 spot to the number 6 spot. Absolute Wonder Woman remains an absolute rock.
Absolute Superman #21 climbed from the number 10 spot to the number 9 spot. Another excellent result.
Absolute Flash #17 rocketed from the number 28 spot to the number 17 spot. This was exactly the rebound Absolute Flash needed. Absolute Flash is no longer the Top 10 seller that it was during the early portion of its run. But a number 17 ranking is still excellent.
The Absolute Universe is placing previous issues inside the Top 100. That continues to demonstrate a level of sustained consumer demand that we simply do not see from any other franchise. All in all, the Absolute Universe had ten resolicited issues in the July Top 200. Insane.

Swamp Thing 1989 started out strong with the number 43 debut before steadily losing readers with the next two issues. At least the finale reversed the trend and finished comfortably inside the Top 100.
Sorcerer Supreme #8 rocketed from the number 134 spot to the number 83 spot.
Universal Monsters Blood of the Wolf Man #2 fell from the number 66 spot to the number 84 spot. That is a relatively small drop for the second issue of this title.

Alien King Killer #4 climbed from the number 150 spot to the number 125 spot. This title remains buried in the Dead Titles Walking category. This five-issue mini-series from Saladin Ahmed has little chance of concluding outside of the Dead Titles Walking category.
The Alien franchise continues to demonstrate remarkably weak direct-market sales power despite being one of the most famous science-fiction horror properties on the planet.
Space Ghost Annual #1 had a weak debut at the number 163 spot. This annual serves as a bridge into the next Space Ghost story involving the Herculoids. We shall see if more readers turn out for that new title when it debuts.
Imperial Guardians #5 returned from being unranked to take the number 173 spot. This five-issue mini-series managed to crawl back into the Top 200 for its finale.
Dan Abnett had Gamora, Captain Marvel, Amadeus Cho, Darkhawk, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Maximus, and a Galactic Union concept to work with. I liked this concept. The consumer clearly did not. The Rokk Kiss of Death strikes again.

I was fascinated to see if Daredevil’s long history of excellent sales numbers over a myriad of writers would be enough to outweigh Stephanie Phillips ’ long history of dreadful sales numbers. It looks like Matt Murdock can do just about anything. This is impressive and good news for Marvel Comics.
Deathstroke the Terminator #5 snagged the number 48 spot. Tony Fleecs’ title started with an excellent number 19 debut. We are now five issues in, and Deathstroke is still a Top 50 seller. This is excellent news for DC Comics. This is what DC Comics needs more of outside of the Absolute Universe titles.
Moon Knight #6 fell from the number 41 spot to the number 55 spot. This title continues to yo-yo in and out of the Top 50. Jed MacKay has a loyal Moon Knight following, and Marvel Comics has spent years aggressively pushing this franchise. Yet, each new Moon Knight relaunch seems to generate less and less sales power.
What If…? Jessica Jones #1 had an unimpressive debut at the number 82 spot.
Alias: Red Band #5 fell from the number 118 spot to the number 130 spot. With this issue, the five-issue mini-series concludes. This mini-series was a sales dud as the final two issues were in the Dead Titles Walking category. Jessica Jones continues to demonstrate little direct-market sales power.
