Shazam! #6

DC is loaded for bear this week. There are so many great reads headed our way tomorrow. Which DC comic am I most looking forward to reading? That is such a tough choice! We are finally getting a new issue of Shazam. Scheduling delays certainly suck, but we are talking Dale Eaglesham drawing Shazam. I cannot think of another artist I would rather see on this title. Eaglesham’s artwork is amazing and I am more than willing to wait a few extra weeks for Eaglesham’s artwork rather than getting a fill-in artist.

The Green Lantern #8 is also certain to be another wild read. Grant Morrison is doing such an excellent job on this title. However, I am going to have to go with Justice League #25 as the DC comic I am most excited to read. Scott Snyder and James Tynion, IV have made Justice League the must read super hero title on the market. Nothing from Marvel or DC can come close to the fun entertainment value and impressive world building that Snyder and Tynion are delivering consistently on a monthly basis.

DC Comics Female Furies #5

Which DC title am I least excited to read? That one is oh so easy. Female Furies #5. Cecil Castelucci is delivering a story that no one was asking for. And the pathetic sales numbers reflect that fact. If you like seeing DC’s number one bad-ass and iconic villain in Darkseid reduced to a white collar executive who sexually harasses his staff then this title is definitely for you.

Marvel Comics

Age of X-Man: Prisoner X #4

Black Cat #1

Captain Marvel #6

Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #4

Dead Man Logan #8

Deadpool #13

Domino: Hotshots #4

Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1

Marvel Team-Up #3

Meet the Skrulls #5

Old Man Quill #6

Savage Avengers #2

Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #9

Star Wars: Age pf Rebellion – Luke Skywalker #1

The Incredible Hulk: Last Call #1

Tony Stark: Iron Man #12

War of the Realms #5

War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #3

War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery #4

Uncanny X-Men #19

Good lord, Marvel just keeps cranking out more crap titles than any publisher has every pushed out in the history of comic books. Marvel is employing the Ulysses S. Grant approach of simply overwhelming DC with sheer numbers in their effort to keep winning the monthly unit and dollar share war. We get a whopping total of twenty new titles from Marvel this week.

Marvel Comics War of the Realms #5

Which Marvel comic am I most looking forward to reading this week? Well, there are a few candidates. I am intrigued by Black Cat #1. I love Black Cat’s character. Black Cat has such huge potential to be Marvel’s cool and sexy answer to Catwoman. As long as Marvel avoids making this another agenda driven title they should have another fun read on their hands. Think more Domino and less Captain Marvel. I know nothing about the writer Jed MacKay so I am only basing my excitement for this title off of the titular character.

I sheepishly admit to looking forward to reading Savage Avengers #2. Yeah, this is definitely a dumb title. But, Conan kicks ass and I loved the 1980’s action movie vibe from the story. This title has the potential to become my guilty pleasure.

Domino: Hotshots #4 should be another blast to read. Gail Simone is doing an excellent job on this title. Each month delivers another fun read.

However, the Marvel title that I am most excited to read would be War of the Realms #5. Jason Aaron has been delivering a bad-ass high-octane brawlfest with this big event. I have not enjoyed a Marvel big event this much in a very long time.

Marvel Comics War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery #4

Which Marvel comic am I least excited to read? Lord, take your pick. Marvel constantly pushes out a ton of crap each week. Captain Marvel #6 will probably be another unimpressive read. That title keeps shedding readers like mad as it falls back to the same low sales numbers that Carol always gets before being granted yet another new title.

Tony Stark: Iron Man has constantly disappointed. Dan Slott has really underdelivered on this title. Tony Stark may be may favorite Marvel character, but this title is absolutely not my favorite Marvel comic to read. However, Gail Simone will be writing Tony Stark: Iron Man #12 so maybe we get a fun read with this issue.

I am going to have to go with War of the Realms: Journey into Mystery #4 as the Marvel comic I am least excited to read. There should never be four writers on a single story. I have loved this big event, but this tie-in title has been a hot mess since the first issue.
