Jim’s Picks
Incorruptible #1Boom! Studios must read book of the week. Where Irredeemable showed what happens when a hero goes bad, this one shows a villain going good. But change is never easy. Based on how good Irredeemable was, this one should be great.Batman Streets of Gotham #7

Anytime you have Paul Dini writing a Batman title, I am picking it up. From his days on Batman the Animated Series through today, it is obvious that Dini “gets” Batman. He was born to write Batman. This issue has Dini working in Humpty Dumpty. It should be good.

Green Lantern Corps #43

Peter Tomasi and Pat Gleason continue their run on the Corps. With Tomasi at the helm I will recommend this book before I read it. This is a case of the creative team has earned my trust.

Project Superpowers Chapter Two #5

I have really been enjoying Alex Ross’ Project Superpowers. It features great cover art by Ross, classic pulp influenced stories, and combines it with modern storytelling techniques. Fans of old time heroes (similar to the JSA) will like this series.

Godland #30

You have to love a book that is inspired by Kirby. Too many titles are focused on the less fantastic stories. This is something that only could be done in comics. Joe Casey and Tom Scioli should be proud of the job they have done on the adventures of Adam Archer. Recommended, especially to Kirby fans.

Captain America Reborn #5

The book that Marvel has managed to spoil in numerous other titles. If you have not been reading this, wait for the trade. The story has been dragging but the finale should be great.

Thunderbolts #139

Jeff Parker is one of my favorite writers. This issue he pits the Thunderbolts against the Agents of Atlas. This should be a blast with Parker’s scripting ability. How can you not like a team (the Agents) that have Gorilla Man and the Human Robot?

Lady Action Special

Moonstone grabbed my attention when they had Paul Gulacy do a cover. Gulacy has been a favorite of mine since his days on Master of Kung Fu. Now they need to convince him to draw another book.

  1. If anyone cares, there are some Captain Action comics you can read for free at WOWIO. But to tell the truth, though I like Nicieza usually, I wasn't impressed.

Also, I'm guessing this is a compilation 'bunker' list for all reviewers. Can we get some sort of breakdown each week for who is reading what? No offense to anyone else, but especially for Rokk who has been here the longest, I am curious what he is (still) reading. I do also care what the rest of you are reading too.
