Absolute Batman #10 is yet another spectacular issue in one of the best comic book series on the market right now. Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta find ways to keep you constantly concerned about the situation Bruce Wayne faced. In the process, Bane and Dr. Ark M are established are incredibly scary villains that you don’t know if Batman can overcome. The high sense of concern keeps you constantly guessing what will happen next as you turn each page. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: Absolute Flash #5ABSOLUTE FLASH #5

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Jeff Lemire

Artist: A.L. Kaplan

Colorist: Adriano Lucas

Letterer: Tom Napolitano

Absolute Flash #5 drives home how over his head Wally West truly is. Even as possibly the fastest person on Earth the fact he has yet to fully grasp the power he has. Wally’s lack of experience shows with how he is constantly barely able to survive as the action picks up with the newest villain he runs into. That is on top of the Rogues being not too far away as they continue to do their own thing. Adding to that is the possible cosmic ties brought in that appear to be connection Wally’s powers to the greater plot going on with the Absolute Universe. It all comes together to make Absolute Flash #5 the best issue of this series so far.

Overall Rating: 8.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Be Not Afraid #2BE NOT AFRAID #2

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Jude Ellison S. Doyle

Artist: Lisandro Estherren

Colorist: Francesco Segala and Gloria Martinelli

Letterer: Simon Bowland

Be Not Afraid #2 has a haunting aura around every page. Whether it is directly doing so or not, there is always this feeling that something is about happen. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of Lisandro Estherren art style it undoubtedly fits with the story Jude Ellison S. Doyle crafts. Reading this really feels like an experience as you are left wondering what is going on. In creating this sense of questioning around what is going Doyle and Estherren craft an interesting horror story.

Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Blood & Thunder #3BLOOD & THUNDER #3

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Benito Cereno

Artist: E.J. Su

Colorist: Msassyk

Letterer: Rus Wooton

Blood and Thunder #3 continues the story of one of the cooler new comics that has been released this year. There is this great constant movement that happens in the first fifteen pages of this issue. We really get to see the Blood chasing down her target while trying to avoid getting into trouble herself. It adds to the fun of the chase as E.J. Su does a great job at using the Coruscant-like environment to constantly switch up the density of the city. By the end there is now a visible challenge for Blood to overcome while a greater mystery is built up in the background.

Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Ghost Pepper #1GHOST PEPPER #1

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer and Artist: Ludo Lullabi

Colorist: Adriano Lucas

Ghost Pepper #1 has all the intentions of presenting an intriguing world. Unfortunately the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The world just feels empty and no amount of cool mechs and loud action can mask that. Even though a small town is established early on the way much of the action is framed does really get over the impact of the battles going on. There are just elements in both the writing and artwork fail to give world a lived in feel the action attempts to accomplish. It all just has an artificial feel that doesn’t appear to be on purpose.

Overall Rating: 4 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: G.I. JOE #9G.I. JOE #9

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Joshua Williamson

Artist: Andrea Milana

Colorist: Lee Loughridge

Letterer: Rus Wooton

G.I. JOE #9 continues to bring on the intensity with the unlikely duo of Baroness and Cover Girl. Unsurprisingly the action is what really stood out in this issue. Baroness and Cover Girl not being prepared to fight Major Bludd and Raptor in the middle of a major city really showed. They were barely able to survive as they do not have the teamwork necessary to take on their foes. That lack of chemistry leads to a strong hook ending involving choices made by both characters. The additional developments with Clutch and Hound nicely continue to build the connection between G.I. JOE and Transformers.

Comic Book Reviews: Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe #1GODZILLA DESTROYS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE #1

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Gerry Duggan

Artist: Javier Garron

Colorist: Jesus Aburtov and Andrew Dalhouse

Letterer: Travis Lanham

Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe #1 knows what it is. This isn’t some big deep story. This is a story about the Marvel Universe trying to survive the presence of Godzilla. That is immediately established with how Godzilla goes over on a Celestial at the beginning of the story in a squash match. All of the action puts over Godzilla being the unstoppable King of Monsters that fans know it to be with no single Marvel hero being able to stop its rampage. Now as long as future issues stay away from up close shots of Godzilla’s eyes this will hit on the mindless fun that is expect from this type of comic book.

Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Imperial #2IMPERIAL #2

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Jonathan Hickman

Artists: Iban Coello and Federico Vicentini

Colorist: Federico Blee

Letterers: Cory Petit and Ariana Maher

Imperial #2 continues the hype established by the debut issue and increases it. Jonathan Hickman, Iban Coello, and Federico Vicentini go all out with delivering a true cosmic war as it was Wakanda vs the Marvel Universe. The chaos this battle brought made the fights, team-ups, and reveals even more exciting to see all play out. It all comes together for what really feels like the premiere Marvel event that will change the game for this universe. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #3INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE: BATTLE BEAST #3

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Robert Kirkman

Artist: Ryan Ottley

Colorist: Annalisa Leoni

Letterer: Rus Wooton

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #3 certainly continues the mindless fun action this series has reveled in. Battle Beast’s fighting style makes every battle feel unique as no fight is too much for him. He simply wants a challenge and that comes through with how he battles everyone that crosses his path. At the same time, the strength of the series is starting show cracks in how long this story can continue. Ryan Ottley certainly creates a lot of amazing action sequences but the story has reached a point where we need to start seeing more to the plot itself.

Overall Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Nightwing #128NIGHTWING #128

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Dan Watters

Artist: Dexter Soy

Colorist: Veronica Gandini

Letterer: Wes Abbott

The “Other” story arc is not the type of adventure that you expect to get from Nightwing. It being so out of the ordinary is what is helping this be a refreshing change of pace for Dick Grayson. That is shown with the unexpected appearances we get throughout Nightwing #128 as Nightwing ventures into the Fifth Dimension infected Titans Tower. It certainly test Nightwing’s versatility as he must quickly adapt to all the curve balls he is thrown. At the same time, we got developments outside the Titans Tower that further the greater overarching story of this series involving Olivia Pearce and Melinda Grayson-Lin.

Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #10TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #10

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Jason Aaron

Artist: Juan Ferreyra

Letterer: Shawn Lee

Teenage Ninja Turtles #10 is another excellent entry in what is one of the must-read comic books on the market right now. Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra get over how bad of a situation Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello now that they’ve been captured by their adversaries. It all leads to really getting you to wonder if there is any way out of what is going on. As a reader that creates an even greater investment in wanting to find out what happens next. Comic Book Reviews: Titans #25TITANS #25

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: John Layman

Artist: Pete Woods

Letterer: Wes Abbott

After being clowned out the last few issues by the Crime Syndicate, the Titans finally remind everyone why they took over as the DCU’s premiere team when the Justice League were away. Titans #25 is a pure showcase of what ultimately makes this a great team is because they fight as a family. There is a level of trust to how they work as a superhero team that is very rare. We also get a great payoff to how every member of the Titans has had the time to grow and learn as every member’s veteran superhero experience comes into play. That ultimately makes the way the Titans defeat the Crime Syndicate come across as a true reward.

Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Zatanna #6ZATANNA #6

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer & Artist: Jamal Campbell

Letterer: Ariana Maher

Zatanna #6 is a beautiful conclusion to what most certainly a comic book of the year contender when we look back at 2025. Jamal Campbell nails creating a epic ending for how Zatanna overcomes the dark foe that has been built up to be unstoppable. Using the credibility built up for the villain to have a Justice League Dark reunion was a fantastic choice. This helped to further drive home how one of Zatanna’s greatest strengths is her connections to those around her, that includes the superhero community. The story all being wrapped around some of the best comic book art you will find further elevates this to be a must-read comic book.
