Comic Book Reviews: Absolute Superman #10ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #10

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Jason Aaron

Artist: Carmine Di Giandomenico

Colorist: Ulises Arreola

Letterer: Tom Napolitano

Absolute Superman #10 delivers high drama as the story is all about the choices that must be made. These choices continue to challenge who Superman is trying to be and what he may have to become in the Absolute Universe. Superman being placed in this spot helps to further elevate Ra’s Al Ghul as the lead villain of this series. Where things go after the major reveal at the end of this issue will be very interesting. Comic Book Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #9AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #9

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Joe Kelly

Artist: Michael Dowling

Colorist: Marte Gracia

Letterer: Joe Caramagna

Amazing Spider-Man #9 does a lot to continue the progress we’ve been seeing throughout this series. The way Joe Kelly and Michael Dowling utilize Spider-Man’s loss to Hellgate helped drive up the growing in investment for Peter Parker’s personal life. It leads to the ending creating intriguing questions around the choices Peter is shown making throughout this issue. If it wasn’t for the continued questionable writing of Mary Jane Watson’s character this would’ve been the best issue of this volume of the series. Click here to read the full review.

Comic Book Reviews: Birds of Prey #24BIRDS OF PREY #24

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Kelly Thompson

Artist: Sami Basri

Inker: Vicente Cifuentes

Colorist: Adriano Lucas

Letterer: Clayton Cowles

Birds of Prey #24 closes out the full second year of this series with an action-packed finale to its latest story arc. In the process we see the payoff to the chemistry Kelly Thompson, Sami Basri, and others who have worked on this series have been building with this incarnation of the Birds of Prey. Whether it was the choreography in the fight against the Shadow Army or back-and-forth dialogue the chemistry was really on point. In the process we are able to see how the series will continue to move forward with this team as several future stories are built.

Comic Book Reviews: One World Under Doom #6ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #6

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Ryan North

Artist: R.B. Silva

Colorist: David Curiel

Letterer: Travis Lanham

One World Under Doom #6 does a great job at moving us into the final stage of Marvel’s latest big event. The debate between Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom is a reminder of why their rivalry is special. Which is elevated by the revelations made by Invisible Woman, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch about how Doctor Doom gained his unlimited power. That all launches One World Under Doom into its endgame in an exciting way. Click here to read the full review.

Overall Rating: 8.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Power Rangers Prime #9POWER RANGERS PRIME #9

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Melissa Flores

Artist: Michael Yg

Colorist: Fabi Marques

Letterer: Ed Dukeshire

The deeper we’ve gotten into Power Rangers Prime the strengths and weaknesses of this series have become even more obvious. Power Rangers #9 is the clearest example of this as Rita Repulsa and Lauren Shiba cement themselves as the mind and heart, respectively, of this series. When Power Rangers Prime is at its best these two are the focus characters, which is why this issue was so entertaining. It also unfortunately highlights the struggles being had with the rest of the cast to connect as fully developed characters. This includes the odd choice for the Power Rangers Prime version of the first Zord. Hopefully the ending of this issue will help drive up the interest in the entire cast while leaning into the series strengths.

Overall Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Storm #11STORM #11

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Murewa Ayodele

Artists: Mario Santoro and C.F. Villa

Colorists: Fer Sifuentes-Sujo and Alex Guimares

Letterers: Travis Lanham

Storm #11 does a great job leaning into the unlimited budget that there is with the comic book form. Whether it is Storm going all out against Kaiju-sized Gods or Galactus presence in the story, it does feel like nothing is being held back for the “Thunder War.” It hits on the dramatic level of what it means for Ororo’s to have her Goddess title and Omega-level Storm God powers being tested.

Overall Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Ultimate Wolverine #9ULTIMATE WOLVERINE #8

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Chris Condon

Artist: Alessandro Cappuccio

Colorist: Bryan Valenza

Letterer: Cory Petit

Ultimate Wolverine #9 is an excellent example of how events in the Ultimate Universe happening in “real time” is beneficial to all its storytelling. There is a sense of importance with the mission Wolverine and The Opposition take on. That leads to the turns taken in the battle against the deadly Ultimate Archangel to hit harder. There was a key reason why this fight had happened. It also makes the results lead to even greater consequences for all involved as The Opposition continues to clash with The Maker’s Council.

Overall Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews: Uncanny X-Men #19UNCANNY X-MEN #19

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Gail Simone

Artist: David Marquez

Colorist: Matthew Wilson

Letterer: Clayton Cowles

First and foremost, Uncanny X-Men #19 is a fun comic book. There is a clear vision of how every issue of this series is progressing this X-Men team. Most importantly, that is all done by making sure the cast is all given development time. Which makes the spotlight on Jubilee that Gail Simone and David Marquez go with an even greater welcome to how this story is structured. Jubilee’s personality shines as she interacts with various cast members and guest stars. It leads to a comic book that has a lot of heart and is a joy to read.

Overall Rating: 8.5 Night Girls out of 10
