DC Comics December 2025 Solicitations: 10 Biggest Takeaways

DC Comics December 2025 comic book solicitations are here! December is following a similar trend as November with the DC K.O. event dominating the DC Universe. The reach of DC K.O. will continue to expand with even more comic books. That goes along with how Batman’s comic books also continue to dominate DC Comics’ publishing plans. Let’s take a look at what the ten biggest takeaways from DC Comics December 2025 solicitations.

10) JLU VS JUSTICE LEAGUE RED

As part of DC K.O. there is a teaser of a civil war happening within the superhero community. That civil war appears to be between the Justice League Unlimited and their splinter group known as Justice League Red. This isn’t all that surprising given that the actions happening over in Justice League Red don’t fully align with why the JLU was created.

If in fact this is happening what Mr. Terrific discovers about Red Tornado could give us an indication of what the Justice League’s direction will be in 2026. There have been a lot of moving pieces with where the team is going. Mr. Terrific involving the lost characters from the multiverse could further tease that we will get more spinoff titles in 2026 from JLU.

9) HARLEY QUINN REACHES 200 ISSUES

As a credit to Harley Quinn’s popularity December will mark the 200th total issue released starring the character. DC Comics has invested a lot in making Harley Quinn a pillar character for them over the course of the last 15 years. It does at least show that investment has paid off with Harley Quinn #200’s release.

That landmark is not something many characters reach. Bringing in artists Terry and Rachel Dodson to drawn Harley Quinn #200 shows how big a deal this is. The Dodson are not just one of the biggest artists in the industry. The Dodsons were also the artists for Harley Quinn’s first solo series. So that should certainly excite fans of Harley Quinn.

8) IMMORTAL LEGEND BATMAN EXPANDING ROSTER

Immortal Legend Batman #1 firmly established we got three Power Rangers-esque heroes in this universe. They are Batman, Nightwing, and Robin. But now with December’s Immortal Legend Batman we may see a new member joining the team. That at least seems to be hinted at with the debut of Barbara Gordon in Immortal Legend Batman #5.

Now the solicitation for Immortal Legend Batman #5 doesn’t state Barbara will get her own Batgirl or Oracle power suit. But really three isn’t enough to make a full Power Rangers team. There is always room to add two or three members to complete the roster of six. There is also the teaser of Joker joining the Immortal Legend Universe. If that happens Batman, Nightwing, and Robin would certainly need more allies.

7) ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER RETURNS

For the Absolute Universe Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman are the key titles for it. Though the fan-favorite is most certainly Absolute Martian Manhunter. The Absolute Manhunter series quickly broke out for its unique artwork and storytelling. It was something completely different from everything else we get from DC Comics.

With what has been put into Absolute Martian Manhunter it isn’t surprising that it took a short break between story arcs. Unlike other titles, DC Comics seems to understand they want to make sure Absolute Martian Manhunter isn’t getting heavy delays due to the usual monthly release structure. Instead, the break could hopefully give Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez time to make sure they are hitting a normal schedule cadence for each story arc.

6) ANARKY ELEVATED IN BATMAN’S ROGUES GALLERY

Matt Fraction is following the trend of his predecessors in the Batman series by featuring new or lesser known Batman villains. Batman #4 shows us that Fraction will be looking to elevate Anarky as a Batman villain.

This makes sense with the fact that Fraction is using Tim Drake as the Robin for the series. Anarky is arguably Tim’s archnemesis. Like Tim, Anarky is a young character so he fits a villain that can get elevated by tapping into his potential. The current state of Gotham City with Vandal Savage could make things primed for Anarky to thrive as an antagonist.

There is also the Crown of Storms that Bruce is investigating. The Crown of Storms may be Fraction’s way of integrating his own version of the Court of Owls into Batman’s mythos. Fraction has shown to do well with creating new organizations for heroes to follow. He should be able to get similar success with the Crown of Storms.

5) GREEN LANTERN BECOMING A TEAM-UP SERIES

With Hal Jordan returning to Earth it looks like he is taking the chance to reunite with his superhero friends. First it was going on an adventure with Green Arrow. Now Hal is going to be teaming up with Batman in Green Lantern #30.

Hal’s superhero teams up all play into his investigation on what’s going on with the Book of Oa. We know that Hal’s name now appears in the Book of Oa. This creates a lot of questions around what else has been added or possibly changed in the Book of Oa.

Then over in the Green Lantern Corps series the new status quo between Lantern Corps will continue to be tested. With all the Lantern Corps now based out of Oa there will obviously be territory disputes. The first one is already happening with the Green Lanterns having to mediate a dispute between the Red Lanterns and Yellow Lanterns. This first dispute could give us a better idea of what this status quo means for the greater DCU.

4) BIRDS OF PREY COMES TO A CLOSE

Birds of Prey #28 will mark the end of the Kelly Thompson written series. The latest Birds of Prey series has not been a big seller, at least if the sales rankings are any indication. Now it is always hard to know how well a series is selling as comic book publishers no longer share sales numbers, unless they are 500k sellers like the recent Batman #1.

Birds of Prey being canceled with its 28th issue does indicate that it hasn’t been selling as well. If it was then Birds of Prey would continue. Afterall, DC Comics does view Birds of Prey on a second tier of team books. So they at least expect it to be an ongoing series they can rely on. But like most team books DC Comics is not finding much success. Only Justice League and the Titans seem to survive on the team series side of things.

I say all this with Kelly Thompson’s Birds of Prey being one of my favorite comics DC is publishing. The cancellation does put into question what DC Comics will have planned for these characters. Oracle and Black Canary in particular are too important to simply be supporting cast members for Batman, Nightwing, and Green Arrow. So hopefully we see them in a new ongoing, possibly together, soon.

3) ABSOLUTE JOKER & ARK M TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT

Spinning out of Absolute Evil we are getting even greater spotlights on various Absolute Universe villains. The big ones that are taking spotlights in December will come from Absolute Batman. They will be the two biggest villains in the series with Absolute Joker and Ark M.

First up with be Joker as Alfred Pennyworth will provide Bruce Wayne information on the villain in Absolute Batman #15. We’ve seen that the Absolute Joker has many aspects to his character. From one of the richest people in the Absolute Universe to having monstrous intentions, Absolute Joker is all over the spectrum. The details Alfred provides should help to paint a better picture of who Absolute Joker is and what his intentions are.

Then there is Ark M. It says a lot about how important Ark M is that it will be getting its own special one-shot. We already had a good look at Ark M in Absolute Batman #10. That issue established how terrifying things are with how they went about trying to break Bruce Wayne. What other secrets are revealed in the new one-shot special could further elevate Ark M.

2) WHO WILL BE THE FAVORITES FOR DC K.O.

The fighting tournament that will be making up the story of DC K.O. will officially kick off in December. The first half of round one of DC K.O. will be told across eight different comic books. The actual match-ups have not been revealed. But we know that Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Flash, Lex Luthor, and Red Hood will each have their own fight.

It’s tough to predict who is going to win the tournament since DC Comics is keeping the fights a secret. Right now Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman are obvious favorites given their positions as the Trinity. There is also Aquaman who has received a power upgrade in his series and has close ties to the current events with Darkseid.

In these types of tournaments there is always a wild card that will go far or win the entire tournament. Based on the 32 fighters involved in this tournament Red Hood and Vixen are two characters that immediately standout.

What will be even more interesting to see is if the gamble that is being made with DC K.O. as an event. Rather than telling the story in a singular main event comic book we are getting it told over the course of at least eight comic books. That is on top tie-in comic books like DC K.O. Knightfight and Justice League Unlimited. That is a massive investment DC Comics is forcing fans to make. Something that could be a tough sell for fans who have a set number of comic books for their pull lists.

1) ABSOLUTE BATMAN & WONDER WOMAN KICK OFF CROSSOVER

The first major meeting between the heroes of the Absolute Universe will take place in December. This will come in the pages of Absolute Wonder Woman #15, which will kick off a crossover between Wonder Woman and Batman. Having these two characters be the first to meet is not all that surprising. Batman and Wonder Woman are the two characters that DC Comics decided to launch the Absolute Universe with.

We don’t get a lot of information about what the crossover will be about other than the Mark of Hecate showing up in Gotham City. Given that we will be getting Absolute Evil in October it wouldn’t be surprising if that one-shot will factor in.

It’ll be interesting to see how Batman and Wonder Woman interact in the Absolute Universe. Darkseid shape things so that the universe was against the heroes. That includes many heroes personalities being altered by their new origins. How Bruce and Diana interact will be as interesting as anything that they get involved in as Batman and Wonder Woman.
