Marvel Comics January 2026 Solicitations 10 Biggest Takeaways

Marvel Comics January 2026 comic book solicitations are here! Marvel will be doing their best to continue the momentum of how 2025 ended to kick off 2026. That includes continuing Ultimate Endgame and beginning the next phase of their X-Men plans. There is also a big relaunch for Iron Man with an exciting new creative team. Let’s take a look at the ten biggest takeaways were from Marvel Comics January 2026 solicitations.

10) MARVEL COSMIC SETTING UP FOR STRONG 2026

Marvel Comics January 2026 solicitations are in a tough spot with the Marvel cosmic line-up of titles. The Imperial event will be wrapping up this month. Since we don’t know how that event will end the solicitations for the new Black Panther: Intergalactic, Nova: Centurion, and Planet She-Hulk can’t give too much away.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t already see some big things being teased. Nova: Centurion #3 is teasing some things from the Annihilation War coming back to haunt Richard Rider. Meanwhile it looks like Doctor Otto Octavius may be joining the events in the Marvel cosmic corner. That is because we see a figure that looks like Doctor Ock on the cover for Black Panther: Intergalactic #2. If that does happen it could be an interesting addition that will speak to the instability on the cosmic side many villains can take advantage of.

All of the solicitations for Black Panther: Intergalactic, Nova: Centurion, and Planet She-Hulk do give the vibe that Marvel is holding back the bigger cosmic plans. There are more things bubbling that Marvel is letting cook before fully releasing details on. Hopefully we know more after Imperial #4 this month.

9) MARVEL RIVALS HELPING BUILD UP LUNA SNOW STOCK

Outside of Jeff the Land Shark, arguably the character who has benefitted the most from the Marvel Rivals video game is Luna Snow. Luna Snow is a relatively new character, debuting back in 2019’s War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas mini-series. She is a baby in comic book years. Being able to be part of the core cast of Marvel Rivals has helped her a ton.

Marvel seems to recognize this gained popularity as Luna has been firmly positioned in the Marvel Rivals related content. That has led them to testing her newly found popularity with a new one-shot titled Luna Snow: World Tour. It is a good test to focus her popularity all in a one-shot.

If it is successful then Marvel could announce a Luna Snow mini-series later in 2026. If it doesn’t sell well, they can continue to feature her in Marvel Rivals related content and maybe have her part of a team book. Whatever the case, Luna Snow is good example of a blank slate with a lot of potential because she is still a new character.

8) COUNTDOWN TO SPIDER-MAN X VENOM EVENT

As we get 2026 started something that will be building in the background will be the teased Spider-Man and Venom crossover event. This is an event that was teased in the Spider-Man Free Comic Book Day issue. The Amazing Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage titles all have some mention of the upcoming 2026 event.

Now we see how the Spider-Man and Venom crossover will likely happen towards the end of May 2026. That is because we have a Knull mini-series that will begin in January 2026 from Marvel. With this Knull mini-series running five issues the timing works for it to end sometime in May. Given the teaser to the crossover event having some Knull involvement this new mini-series will play a big part in the foundation for that story.

7) NEW SORCERER SUPREME KEPT A MYSTERY

The new Sorcerer Supreme post-One World Under Doom is something Marvel is surprisingly keeping a closely guarded secret. Marvel has become well know for spoiling big reveals before they happen. Sometimes it happens months ahead of time. But things are different with the Sorcerer Supreme reveal.

We see it being different with the Sorcerer Supreme #2 solicitation not giving away who it is and having all the contenders on the cover. Based on recent events Scarlet Witch is still my favorite to become the next Sorcerer Supreme. Marvel has invested a lot into Scarlet Witch’s character in recent years. Her most recent mini-series ended with a teaser of her being positioned to take over as the Sorcerer Supreme.

That said, it still leaves Doctor Strange without the title that he made iconic. If he is in fact not the Sorcerer Supreme that leaves a lot of questions how they’ll feature the character. Marvel doesn’t normally do multiple magic-based hero titles. But if it is Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch leading the way we 2026 could be the start of something big in the magic realm for Marvel.

6) WHAT’S NEXT FOR DOCTOR DOOM AFTER LOSING WORLD EMPEROR TITLE

We now know what Marvel will be doing to keep Doctor Doom around post-One World Under Doom. In the fallout to the event that caused his downfall as the Emperor of Earth and Sorcerer Supreme, it will be time to explore what’s inside Doctor Doom’s castle. That will be occurring in the three-issue mini-series, Dungeons of Doom.

Not much is known outside of the premise for Dungeons of Doom, that includes the actual cast. One would expect we will see Doctor Doom in some form in this three-issue mini-series. Other than that no mention of which heroes or villains will take part in this series. All we know is the pitch being “a new cast of characters from various corners of the Marvel Universe as they seek to plunder Doom’s unmatched armory.”

Based on the pitch this may be following up on what caused Doctor Doom’s downfall with the discovery of how he various people’s lifeforce to expand his power. What other big secrets Doctor Doom had locked up is the big selling point for this series. That and how it could set-up what Marvel’s plans will be for Doctor Doom these next few years.

5) PETER PARKER MAKING HIS WAY BACK TO EARTH

After months being lost in space Peter Parker will be making his way back to Earth in Amazing Spider-Man #19. Though that journey back will be hitting a major roadblock in the form of Hellgate. That is something Peter obviously needs to get past as the major reason he did not return to Earth immediately was to train for his rematch with Hellgate. And he has been doing actual training this time to get stronger and smarter for his Hellgate rematch.

With Peter’s official return to Earth likely not March that does give time to wrap up the Norman Osborn story. For as much as I personally have not enjoyed this Norman is a temp Spider-Man storyline it needs a proper wrap-up. Afterall, Joe Kelly has dedicated too much time for it to be thrown away to start 2026. How that is wrapped up will hopefully be interesting enough to justify the time spent.

4) MARVEL CELEBRATES AVENGERS #800

If there is one thing Marvel won’t miss out on is the opportunity in a crash grab. Outside of big events and new #1, there is no bigger cash grab for Marvel than a milestone legacy issue. And of course Avengers getting to their 800th legacy issue is a time to go all out to get big $$$ and attention for the Avengers.

Though unlike other celebration comics Avengers #800 won’t cause the series to return its legacy numbering. While Avengers #34 will mark the series 800th total issue it will continue the current numbering for the Jed MacKay series. That is in line with Marvel being allergic to having big issue numbers for any of their comic books. We’ll see if the celebration issue will set-up the next big things for the Avengers franchise.

3) ULTIMATE UNIVERSE COLLIDING WITH EARTH-616

Things will be at its hottest for the Ultimate Universe to kick off 2026. Marvel officially confirmed that the Ultimate Universe will by Springtime. Now if that is true or just a teaser of bigger plans Marvel will unveil around WonderCon time we’ll see.

But at the very least we are seeing that Ultimate Endgame will be living up to its name. The second issue of the big Ultimate Universe event tease the desperation the heroes feel to find a way to defeat the returning Maker. Unsurprisingly Iron Lad will be the one to make the big discovery about the Ultimate Universe. This discovery isn’t revealed in the solicitation. But giving Iron Lad’s reaction on the cover it will likely have to do with his father to follow-up on what happened in Ultimate Invasion #4.

The other big thing to be on the look out for is how Ultimate Endgame could end up involving Earth-616. Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42 talks about Miles teaming up with Ultimate Peter Parker. Given how Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion ended that issue could be an Ultimate Endgame #2.5. Since The Maker promised to get back at the Illuminati before disappearing in Ultimate Invasion #1 this is sub-plot that could be followed up on.

2) X-MEN BEGIN THEIR SHADOWS OF TOMORROW ERA

Marvel Comics January 2026 Solicitations: X-Men #23

January marks a return to normal for the X-Men as their publishing line gets back to its usual team books. Joining X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine will be a number of new titles that range from ongoings to mini-series. At least for January this includes Inglorious X-Men, Psylocke: Ninja #1, and Rogue #1. They will eventually by Cyclops, Magik & Colossus, Generation X-23, Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutants, and Wade Wilson: Deadpool in February.

All of these titles will be making up the new X-Men direction that will have the banner “Shadows of Tomorrow.” The X-Men getting a new banner direction is the normal thing Marvel does with the franchise. The title fits with how the X-Men are coming off the Age of Revelation storyline that gave us a look at yet another alternate Marvel Universe future.

Based on the solicitations “Shadows of Tomorrow” will have a combination of continuing story arcs from before the break and the fallout from Age of Revelation. One thing that does stand out from this is the fact that there are major X-Men characters missing from the comics announced so far.

Characters like Emma Frost, Jean Grey, and Kitty Pryde are noticeably missing. Emma Frost being front and center in the teaser artwork for “Shadows of Tomorrow” does indicate we should expect more X-Men titles announced later. Especially considering Cyclops, Psylocke: Ninja #1, and Rogue #1 are all mini-series.

1) JOSHUA WILLIAMSON USHERS IN NEW IRON MAN ERA

Iron Man has had a tough time having his ongoing series reach the heights it reached from 2005’s Iron Man: Extremis through Invincible Iron Man series that end in 2012. Since then, Marvel has cycled through some of the biggest writers on their staff that’s resulted to mixed results at best. Because of that it is not surprising as we head into what will be some big years for the Avengers franchise they would look for one of the biggest names in the industry to write Iron Man. That name is none other than Joshua Williamson.

For Marvel fans not familiar with Williamson’s work, he has been one of the best writers in the industry. His work at DC Comics has shown he knows how to write a wide variety of characters that include Superman, Batman, Flash, and Green Arrow. Not only that, but he has helped architect the big directions DC Universe. So with that and his indie work, which includes the Energon Universe’s G.I. JOE series, more than makes him a fit for writing Iron Man.

What is most exciting about Williamson writing Iron Man is what he’ll do with the hero’s rogues gallery. Williamson has shown a great propensity to provide much needed reboots to a hero’s rogues gallery that maintains their classic portrayal with modern sensibilities. Due to what’s gone on in the last decade plus Iron Man’s villains are basically blank slates.

Which is why it’s not surprising that it appears that Williamson is starting with Madame Masque as she has gotten solid development in the last few years. Madame Masque can make for a great first big bad that will allow other villains to also develop at the same time.
