We have a total of 14 titles headed to the Bunker today. This week is decidedly heavy with Marvel comic books.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am certainly looking forward to Vigilante #1. I am a long-time Marv Wolfman fan and have always enjoyed his work over the years. So, once I heard that Wolfman was coming out with a new Vigilante title I figured I would give it a try.

However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Batman #683. This is Morrison’s final issue and should lead us directly into what is going on in Final Crisis. While many have hated Morrison’s run on Batman, I have completely enjoyed it. And I have a feeling that with Knighfall Battle for the Cowl coming up and an eventual replacement for Bruce Wayne that it may be a long time before I enjoy another issue of Batman.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Trinity #30. This title continues to be the weakest link in the weekly selection of comic books that I get from DC.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am excited to read Daredevil #114. Even though I find Lady Bullseye to be a rather lame character, Brubaker has still managed to create an intriguing story. I have a feeling that Brubaker is going to crank up the intensity even more with this issue.
As always, The Revolution is excited to read the newest issue of Nova. DnA continue to make this a thoroughly entertaining read. I fully expect Nova #20 to be anther quality issue.

Wolverine: First Class #10 should be another enjoyable issue. Fred Van Lente has done an excellent job on this title. Van Lente has captured the essence of Wolverine and what used to make Wolverine such a cool character before he got his memories back, became a dog boy, had a kid and generally became over-exposed.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Ultimate Spider-Man #129. Bendis continues to amaze me with his work on this title. Things are heating up with Ultimatum finally making its impact on this title. All I can hope is that Ultimatum does not have a negative impact on Ultimate Spider-Man. Honestly, I wish Ultimatum only impacted the other Ultimate titles and that Marvel would leave Ultimate Spider-Man out of the mix and simply continue letting Bendis work his magic on this title.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I have my reservations about New Avengers #48. This title became a completely dreadful read ever since Civil War. I can only hope that the new Dark Reign direction of the 616 universe leads to a more interesting story in New Avengers. I am just hoping that Bendis stops giving us nothing but spotlight issues on this title and actually delivers an Avengers story including the entire roster.

I was not particularly impressed with Ultimatum #1. Maybe Loeb can get me to change my mind about this big event with a better effort with Ultimatum #2.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Hulk #9. This is a dumb title that does not seem to have any real master plan. Unless this title managed to improve in short order, I am going to have to go ahead and drop Hulk from my permanent pull list.

  1. Heh, nice catch on the Knightfall. Although I’m sure Neil Gaiman will do a fine job in his story in January, so I wouldn’t give up all hope yet.
