Reality returns with this week as we had a normal sized shipment of 22 titles headed to the Bunker yesterday. Sheesh, I read way too much and it is going to take me forever to read through this selection of comic books. If only I would win the lottery so I could make The Revolution my full time job.

The review from this past week that elicited the most comments was Final Crisis #6. Everyone made intelligent and interesting comments. If nothing else, Final Crisis has been successful in generating a storm of debate online. I love hearing what you guys have to say. Keep it coming.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am excited to read Green Lantern #37. This title has been heating up as we approach the Blackest Night event. I am sure this will be another great read.

However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Final Crisis: Superman Beyond #2. Yeah, I know I gave an average rating to Final Crisis #6. And I know that I have been critical of DC’s mishandling of this event.

But, the fact is that I just dig Morrison’s writing. And I loved the first issue of Superman Beyond. Sure, it was half a year ago that it came out, but I have been anxiously awaiting this second issue. I am hoping that Superman Beyond #2 will give the reader a slightly better idea of what we can expect with Final Crisis #7.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I have little interest in reading Justice League of America #29. My interest will return to this title when DC stops using the JLA as a vehicle to shill for other characters and stories that take place outside of the JLA.

However, the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Trinity #34. I have lost just about any and all interest in this title. Unfortunately, my completist nature will not let me drop a title so close to the end. I know. I have no one to blame but myself.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am definitely psyched to read Guardians of the Galaxy #9. DnA have this title ramped up as we head toward the War of Kings event. There is no doubt that DnA will deliver an action packed issue that is tightly crafted and has a few surprises for the reader.

Even though I have been summarily unimpressed with Bendis’ entire run on New Avengers, I have to admit that I am intrigued by what Bendis has in store for us with Dark Avengers #1. Maybe it is just the eternal comic book optimist in me, but I have a feeling that Bendis has some pretty neat ideas in store for the reader on Dark Avengers.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Mighty Avengers #21. I am a big fan of Dan Slott and I think that Slott’s abilities make him a better choice than Bendis to write the Mighty Avengers. I expect this issue to be a well crafted and entertaining team story.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I am not all that excited for Astonishing X-Men #28. I have found this current story arc to be only slightly above average. And the poor shipping schedule has considerably cooled of my already tepid initial response.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Wolverine: Origins #32. Wolverine is already appearing in way to many titles and we are about to have yet another new Wolverine title hit the stands. If Marvel ever feels like contracting the number of titles starring Wolverine then I would gladly nominate Wolverine: Origins as the first Wolverine title to be dropped.

  1. the book that shocked me and I didn’t know it was coming out and only picked it up because Emma Frost was on the cover was Uncanny X-Men Annual – Dark Reign crossover.
Not ONLY did this completely help Dark Reign #1 make sense it really was excellent. And Namor looked like Namor!
Dark Avengers #1 was very good.
thunderbolts 128 was pretty cool too.
Guardians of the Galaxy is great but why would Reed Richards leave all those people in number 42?
    That makes NO sense.

  2. Start picking up Andy Diggle’s run on Thunderbolts… knowing how much you loved the Knaufs on IM, you’ll really like Andy’s stuff!

  3. OMG. Green Lantern 37. So so good.

And I like your review of Superman Beyond. A good issue (what Final Crisis should have been like) although some of the sequences were a mite confusing.
