Welcome back to a new edition of the Best Comic Books of the month. This is the first edition of the Best Comic Books of the Month for 2025. Admittedly this has been a busy start to the year that I wasn’t able to create the list for the first two months of the year. But I’m making up for with by selecting the best comic books that came out in the month of March 2025.
And what a month this was. Just in the last week alone there were so many comic book releases. Which summed up how strong a of a month March was a whole with all the great comic books we saw hit the market. With that in mind, find out what made my list of the ten best comic books released in March 2025.
ABSOLUTE BATMAN #6

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Scott Snyder
Artist: Nick Dragotta
Colorist: Frank Martin
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Absolute Batman #6 brought to a close the first series story arc, “The Zoo,” to a close. With that Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta were able to firmly establish the overall direction of Absolute Batman. Best of all, this finale to “The Zoo” story arc fully put over everything that Snyder and Dragotta have been developing for this corner of the Absolute Universe. Bruce Wayne, in and out of being Batman, played his lead role well. But what really made this story come alive was how Gotham City itself has a voice. While Bruce’s presence as Batman is ushering change, he isn’t the only one impacting that change. This final issue emphasizes that with how Jim Gordon, Martha Wayne, Black Mask, Alfred Pennyworth, Joker, and others are shaping this world’s direction. By the end of this final chapter of “The Zoo” you’ll be left excited to find out what happens next in the Absolute Universe.
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #6

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Mattia De Iulis
Letterer: Becca Carey
Just about every page of Absolute Wonder Woman #6 delivers a narrative that puts over how badass Diana is. That badassery comes not from her powerful magic or weapons. Diana built herself as a powerful warrior, the magic and weapons just adds another layer to that strength. The journey she took to grow stronger has a lot of cool Greek mythology elements to it while staying unique to the Absolute Universe. The fact that Diana talks about her journey to Hades in such a confident way further puts over how epic that her journey was. The confidence she shows made the ending with how Hades quickly breaks Diana in the final page of Absolute Wonder Woman #6 puts over the King of the Underworld as a villain you’ll love to hate and see Diana defeat.
ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS #1

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Deniz Camp
Artist: Eric Zawadzki
Colorist: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
From the beginning of Assorted Crisis Events #1 Deniz Camp and Eric Zawadski create an incredible sense of unpredictability that you can’t help but find out what is really going on. It is a major risk to take an approach that is so unpredictable that could turn off some readers. But that is where Camp and Zawadski’s talents as creative team shine as they aren’t afraid of risky storytelling. They maximize how they use the film set plot device to leave the reader wondering what is real and what isn’t. This unpredictable journey makes the lead character even more compelling. The artwork by Zawadski and Jordie Bellair does a wonderful job framing how shifts in storytelling. It all comes together for a memorable debut issue.
I HEART SKULL CRUSHER! #8

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Josie Campbell
Artist: Alessio Zonno
Colorist: Angel De Santiago
Letterer: Jim Campbell
Not enough can be said about how fantastic I Heart Skull Crusher! #8 looks. Alessio Zonno is at their best with how energetic of a comic book that is created here. The momentum in particular stands out so much. There is anime-like pacing with how we go from panel-to-panel and page-to-page. The artwork elevates everything Josie Campbell is going for with Trini constantly being thrown one challenge after another. Which makes Trini’s go with the flow attitude so much better as it seems like her rivals are coming from every direction. This leads to a strong set-up for the conclusion of this story and how it all comes back to the sport of Screaming Pain Ball.
JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #5

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Mark Waid
Artist: Dan Mora
Colorist: Tamra Bonvillain
Letterer: Dave Sharpe
Justice League Unlimited #5 is the best one issue pitch of this series thus far. You get the full idea of the epic scope the Justice League have. Most importantly, Mark Waid and Dan Mora maximize the opportunity provided by the Justice League Unlimited concept provides with the roster choice. The roster is a great balance between iconic and lesser used characters. This balance also highlights the importance of legacy Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern with Impulse, Supergirl, and Star Sapphire. This combination along with the way cosmic peace talks go south quickly work well to show how the Justice League are able to adjust to any crisis they face. It all works to not just show the magic of this series but also set the stage for the return of the Legion of Doom as a major DCU threat.
MOTHRA: QUEEN OF THE MONSTERS #1

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Sophie Campbell
Artists: Matt Frank and Sophie Campbell
Letterer: Nathan Widick
When it comes to kaiju stories it is always important to remember the reason fans want these stories are for the kaiju. That is something that is often forgotten as writers try to emphasize humans as a big part of the narrative. Which is what making the direction Sophie Campbell and Matt Frank take even more impressive. They create a narrative that is always about Mothra. Even when she is killed off early on in Queen of the Monsters #1 at no point is the narrative not about Mothra. The world is very much shaped by the absence of Mothra. That includes the lead characters who play into the greater mythology of the kaiju. How that mythology is explored in the setting created by this first issue will excite many kaiju fans.
SCARLET WITCH #10

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Steve Orlando
Artists: Jacopo Camagni and Russell Dauterman
Inker: Elisabetta D’Amico
Colorist: Frank William
Letterer: Ariana Maher
With Scarlet Witch #10 we see the close of yet another volume of the series by writer Steve Orlando. Because of that Orlando goes with an approach that this final issue is a close to this chapter of Wanda Maximoff’s life. The clash with Amaranth, her protégé, is a great example of Wanda’s growth as a character over the last few years. She doesn’t simply look to use her powers to defeat/save her protégé. It is Wanda’s empathy that plays a key role in resolving what goes on. That empathy makes how Jacopo Camagni showcases the chaotic magic used throughout the battle with his artwork even more compelling. By the end, while Wanda’s time as Amaranth mentor isn’t successful it does teach both characters something important so they can each move on to the next chapter in their respective lives.
TRANSFORMERS #18

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Daniel Warren Johnson
Artist: Jorge Corona
Colorist: Mike Spicer
Letterer: Rus Wooton
Whether intentional or not Daniel Warren Johnson continues to top himself with every passing story arc. There is this sense of internal competition to make what just happens more impactful than the last thing. It leads to a truly epic experience as you don’t have a chance to catch your breath with everything that goes down in Transformers #18. Johnson and Jorge Corona masterfully juggle multiple storylines at the same time. They do so in manner that the development in each setting comes across as important. By the end there is an even greater sense of unpredictability with where the war between Autobots and Decepticons will go next.
ULTIMATE WOLVERINE #3

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Chris Condon
Artist: Alessandro Cappuccio
Colorist: Bryan Valenza
Letterer: Cory Petit
Ultimate Wolverine #3 does such a great job at world building. And it is not just world building for this series. There’s a lot of world building for the Ultimate Universe as a whole. Chris Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio explore the impact of The Maker’s Council through the eyes and ears of the Opposition, led by Shadowcat and Gambit. It is a very cool way to introduce other Marvel characters in completely new roles and further build out the mutants role in the Ultimate Universe. This leads to even more compelling development around Wolverine as classic Weapon X elements are integrated into his role as the Winter Soldier. The ramifications of Ultimate Winter Soldier’s clash with Shadowcat leave a lot of questions for what path Logan will follow go down from here.
ZATANNA #2

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Jamal Campbell
Letterer: Ariana Maher
The imagination that Jamal Campbell packs into Zatanna #2 is just beautiful. As both the writer and artist of this series you see the full confidence Campbell has in handling both creative jobs. When the time calls for the artwork to carry the story Campbell does just that. It makes the words spoken even more impactful as Zatanna deals with some serious stuff. This balance gives greater depth to how the emotions being shown, especially with how Zatanna deals with the ramifications of the magical sword she was stabbed with. does an incredible job showing a character going through pain with such imaginative artwork. By creating such range it positions the Lady in White as a major threat on multiple levels. All that while showing the unlimited potential of telling stories around the magic corner of the DC Universe.
