BOOM! Studios Preview: Marian Heretic #1

During this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con one of the comic books that BOOM! Studios spoke about was Marian Heretic. This new comic book series debuting in October is being written by Tini Howard and drawn by Joe Jaro.

Marian Heretic will be Tini Howard and Joe Jaro’s first creator-owned series. In describing the series BOOM! Studios states it is “a wild, genre-blending tale of religious horror, rebellious sisterhood, and gritty monster-slaying.” That is further tapped into by the solicitation for Marian Heretic #1:

Sister Marian is a witch hunter of the highest order, a Mother Superior, and a heretic guided by a Goddess the Church refuses to acknowledge. When the Holy Father brands her order blasphemers, Marian strikes a dark bargain to become their personal enforcer. As she delivers murderous judgement night after night in the city of Vespers, she can feel her soul fracture…but what else can she do with the lives of her sisters at stake

Along with being the main series artist Joe Jaro will also be handling the main cover for Marian Heretic #1. BOOM! Studios will also be offering variants covers for the comic book by artists Dylan Burnett, Jenny Frison, and Suspiria Vilchez. Check out Jaro and Burnett’s covers along with a six-page preview below:

Marian Heretic #1 is scheduled to be released in comic book shops and digital storefronts on October 1, 2025. Learn more about the comic book from BOOM! Studios press release below.
