Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations 10 Biggest Takeaways

Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations 10 Biggest Takeaways

Marvel Comics May 2026 comic book solicitations have arrived! With it we see how Marvel Comics May 2026 will shape the lead into the summer’s Armageddon event. There are many things in motion that will start wrapping up. That goes along with Marvel Comics building something else up with both the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises. Find out what the ten biggest takeaways from Marvel Comics May 2026 comic book solicitations were below.

10) JLA/AVENGERS RETURNING TO PRINT

JLA/Avengers is a comic book that has long been out of print. Unless your willing to pay an extra premium for an copy of the collection on eBay or another third-party seller the comic has been hard to come buy. At least in May we will see this change as Marvel will be releasing the single issues of JLA/Avengers as part of their Facsimile Edition line.

JLA/Avengers releasing in this way further shows one of the benefits of the renewed Marvel and DC Comics relationship. With it we are getting these old crossover comics between the companies reprinted. It hopefully means that at some point in 2026 we will see a new hardcover edition of the JLA/Avengers series released.

9) SORCERER SUPREME CROSSOVER TEASE

The X-Men and Spider-Man aren’t the only ones that are getting teases for a crossover to go along with Armageddon. Both Doctor Strange and Sorcerer Supreme comics continue to tease a crossover between the two. Doctor Strange #6 teases this as he reunites with Clea and meets Wanda Maximoff for the first time since she became the new Sorcerer Supreme.

This meeting between Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch is a long-time coming. This is thanks to Wong not being the most positive about Scarlet Witch’s status quo as Sorcerer Supreme. Wong still seems to wish Doctor Strange was the Sorcerer Supreme. The meeting between Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch can build something bigger for the magic side of the Marvel Universe. Something that the magic corner needs as we no longer have Strange Academy to explore its different weird corners.

8) FANTASTIC FOUR BRING BACK THE FUTURE FOUNDATION

Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations: Fantastic Four #11

The Fantastic Four have not had the momentum coming out of the MCU movie and One World Under Doom as expected. The new series has been solid thus far as Ryan North has kept up the momentum from the previous volume. Though it is missing that special element that can elevate it to that next level.

That’s something that could be found in May’s Fantastic Four #11 as the Future Foundation is being brought back. The Future Foundation has always been a great concept that fits for what the Fantastic Four represents in the Marvel Universe. Teaching the next generation is certainly something needed to help it further drive home its not just a superhero comic book.

Though unlike the previous incarnation of the Future Foundation, the Fantastic Four aren’t as united as they were. The Fantastic Four are in a more chaotic spot. For the Future Foundation to succeed they need to be stable as a team. So we’ll see what happens when they pull the trigger on bringing this concept back.

7) WHAT’S NEXT FOR MARVEL COSMIC CORNER?

We are officially down to Imperial Guardians as the lone remaining Marvel cosmic title. There is no hint at Planet She-Hulk or Nova: Centurion continuing as they are both missing in May’s solicitations. We still don’t have an Exiles or Inhumans series, both of which were teased at the end of Imperial.

That puts into question if Marvel’s dedication to their cosmic corner was only to when Jonathan Hickman wrapped Imperial. Since then we haven’t seen much dedication beyond showing us the initial fallout after the event. That is seen with how quickly Black Panther, She-Hulk, and Nova’s titles came to a close within six months after Imperial.

Like with Avengers and other things Armageddon may be giving Marvel an excuse to not have cosmic ongoings in 2026. Instead, we are likely to get a Guardians or Nova tie-in to Armageddon. But beyond that we aren’t going to get a series on the cosmic side with some substance until 2027, like much of the Marvel Universe.

6) DOCTOR DOOM JOINS BUILD TO ARMAGEDDON

May will be an important month for Marvel Comics. This will be the final month before Marvel fully goes all in on their upcoming Armageddon event. Marvel has already shown they are banking heavily on what Armageddon will be.

The two key comic books to Chip Zdarsky build towards Armageddon are going to wrapping up their build to the event. Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon mini-series will be coming to with a tease of Wolverine’s final decision in the event will play an important role in the start of Armageddon. Then over in Captain America #11 new Hulk army is being teased to also light the fire of Armageddon.

With all of this build we are also seeing how Marvel is already bringing back Doctor Doom. Captain America #11 and Fantastic Four #11’s solicitation is heavily playing into Victor Von Doom’s part in the current events of those series. Marvel will also be launching a new Doomquest series. These things hint that Armageddon could see Doctor Doom making a big return to prominence post-One World Under Doom. Which would align with the MCU if Armageddon concludes at the end of 2026.

5) IRON MAN GETTING REPLACED

Life has not been easy for Iron Man. Tony Stark’s status quo is constantly being shifted around. That will continue to be a trend in 2026 as Iron Man #5 teases us with a “new Tony Stark” debuting. To make things worse for the character this “new Tony Stark” is being backed by Madame Masque and A.I.M.

What does this mean for the normal Tony Stark? Well, based on the solicitation for Iron Man #5 it appears that Tony will be on the run as a hit has been put on him.  This new story will force Tony to possibly develop new Iron Man technology to survive. Something he hasn’t done much as most advancements he’s made have been a variation of Extremis.

4) MILES MORALES EXPLORES ULTIMATE UNIVERSE IMPACT

One of the most important stories leading into the upcoming Armageddon event was what happened in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion. In that event we saw Miles Morales return from a trip to the new Ultimate Universe with the Origin Boxes in hand. Miles ended up hiding the Origin Boxes he brought back rather than sharing it with his superhero allies.

With Miles’ Spider-Man series concluding in January there were questions as to where we would see Miles and the Origin Boxes come back into play? Afterall, it would take some explaining about the Origin Boxes after seven months of being forgotten.

Now we know where both Miles and the Origin Boxes will appear next thanks to the new Reborn: Ultimate Impact mini-series. With the mini-series being five-issues it means that Reborn: Ultimate Impact will be going on at the same time as Armageddon. What that means for the momentum of this series will be interesting. At some point the Origin Boxes will move to being a focal point in Armageddon. If that happens it’ll lessen Ultimate Impact’s importance and just become a way to keep Miles busy.

3) STORM DAUGHTER ARRIVES

Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations: Storm: Earth's Mightiest Mutant #4

One of the stories in last year’s X-Men: Hellfire Vigil saw Storm taking a pregnancy test that ended up coming out negative. But thanks to a future vision given to her by Eternity, Storm saw a future where she would have a daughter named Furaha in the future. The story was written by the Storm creative team of Murewa Ayodele and Luciano Vecchio.

Now a year later Murewa Ayodele is bringing Furaha to the present in Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #4. Given the appearance of Furaha as a young kid there may be some time travel shenanigans going on. Which would factor into Storm’s status as the Herald of Eternity and dealing with God-level cosmic threats.

If this leads to a story where Storm becomes pregnant it is possible. Though, now Ayodele hasn’t made romance a big part of Storm’s journey. That is unless, we get confirmation that the one-night stand Ororo and Logan had back in Storm #3 led to the pregnancy. There were hints in the future vision that Wolverine is Furaha’s father. So we’ll see if at least Furaha’s presence will reveal who her father is or hint at it at the least.

2) DEATH SPIRAL IMPACT ON SPIDER-MAN & VENOM

Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations: Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral - Body Count

May will be a time where we will see what the impact of the Amazing Spider-Man and Venom crossover, Death Spiral, has on the Spider-Man franchise. For an immediate thing that will be addressed is the relationship between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. That will take place in Venom #258 that’s promoted as “Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker have a long overdue heart-to-heart.” Though I would not even dream of hoping of them getting back together. That ship has sailed. The best we can hope for is Peter and MJ coming to an understanding as allies.

His relationship with MJ is also just one piece to the larger personal life puzzle for Peter. That is because Death Spiral came at the worst time for him. Before the crossover he spent several months lost in space while Ben Reilly posed as Peter and messed up with his life in several ways. There was also the whole Norman Osborn being Spider-Man. And finally, Peter still has the fallout from his space adventures and Hellgate still to worry about.

That is a lot for one person but the norm of how Marvel likes Peter Parker’s life to be. Chaos is what feeds Amazing Spider-Man’s editorial direction. If that is actual positive for storytelling, is what Joe Kelly and company will need to prove as we head into the summer months.

1) WHAT’S NEXT FOR X-MEN AFTER SHADOWS OF TOMORROW

Marvel Comics May 2026 Solicitations: X-Men United #3
Credit: Marvel Comics

May will be the first month in 2026 where we won’t see the Shadows of Tomorrow banner on all the X-Men comic books. That does not mean that the tone of the banner direction won’t be continuing. But it is notable that Marvel is removing the Shadows of Tomorrow banner in the marketing.

What this could hint at is the X-Men books transitioning to building up their next crossover. Because while they are likely to play a role in Armageddon that event is firmly promoted as an Avengers-led event. Like Spider-Man, the X-Men are big enough to carry their own crossover, as they have for decades on an almost yearly basis.

The build to the next X-Men event will likely take place throughout the summer. This is hinted by the fact that most of the current X-Men mini-series will wrap up by June. That will open up a big hole in Marvel’s publishing line that is as reliant on the X-Men as they are on Spider-Man.
