Today totally kicked my ass. I had to take an unscheduled road trip for work and it took 6 hours round trip. As a result, I was unable to post early this morning about the comics that arrived at the Bunker today. This is a huge selection of comics this week and we have plenty of gems in store for us.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? This week is all about one comic and one comic only: Flash: Rebirth #1. That’s right, baby. Barry Allen is officially back and in his own comic book once again. I am unbelievably excited. I have waited for this day forever. I was just a little kid when Barry died, but he was always THE Flash to me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jay and Wally. But, Barry is an icon and I am thrilled that he is finally back. I honestly thought that this day would never come. The comic book gods are truly smiling down upon me today.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Trinity #44. This story cannot end fast enough for me.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Marvel has plenty of great reads coming out this week. Agents of Atlas #3 should be another quality read. Parker has done a good job with the first two issues. This title has a wonderful combination of strong writing and gorgeous artwork.

I am also looking forward to Secret Warriors #3. Hickman has quickly won me over. I am enjoying this title much more than I thought I would.

I am interested in reading Destroyer #1. Destroyer is an old Timely Comics Golden Age character who first appeared in Mystic Comics #6 in 1941. I should love this title for two reasons. First, I love Golden Age characters. Second, I love Robert Kirkman. Nuff said.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is War of Kings #2. DnA have been total studs with their incredible work on Marvel’s cosmic characters. The cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe continues to be the most exciting aspect of the 616 universe. I fully expect War of Kings #2 to be an entertaining read.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Invincible Iron Man #12. Fraction has proven me next to nothing on this title.

  1. ..

Just read Flash – Rebirth #1.

All I can say is: “Make it stop.”

    Please.

TWO bloody murders ON PANEL in the first 4 pages? Doesn’t anyone remember how to SUGGEST violence anymore? Do we have to see every cut and each painful expression of the victims?

Someone send copies of “Psycho” to the DC offices.

    ..

  2. I don’t know about the return of Barry Allen… He was my favourite Flash just as Jordan was my favourite Green Lantern. But (and this is a gigantic BUT) I’ve greatly enjoyed reading Wally and Kyle’s gradual rise to confidence. Their uncertainty about taking up the mantles of two of the greats and their eventual acceptance by the rest of the JLA, et al, has been a good solid story.

If the best idea that DC has to offer is to try and turn the clock back 25 years then that’s a real shame. And they really need better editors.
