KING LEAVES, HORROR STORY FOR MARVEL

Stephen King’s next series will be published by Random House/Del Rey. Once the big publishers saw the money being made by Marvel, they jumped in. Marvel was probably outbidded. It will be interesting to see if Marvel gets any future King projects.

CAPTAIN ACTION TO DC?

DC is talking to the owners of “Captain Action”. The original series published by DC was written by Jim Shooter and Gil Kane. Wally Wood was the artist. The current series is written by Fabian Niceiza. Nicieza is the writer of Robin and the back up stories in Trinity. If this happens we could see the series change companies and still be scripted by the same author.

BATMAN BY ADAMS

The son of the legendary Batman artist, Neal Adams, is working on a Batman book. No formal announcement of which book. Josh Adams artwork looks ok on his website. The inevitable comparisons to his father’s work could be brutal.

NEW BLACK LIGHTNING ARTIST QUESTION

Jen Van Meter and Cully Hamner are the creators of the new Black Lightning series(debuting in January). In a story over at MillarWorld, Black Lightning’s co-creator(Trevor Von Eeden) lobbied to draw the book. According to Von Eeden, DC would not talk to him about it. I have enjoyed both artists but it would have been nice to see Von Eeden back on a character he co-created.

SPIDER-GIRL CANCELLED

Tom DeFalco announced that the Amazing Spider-Girl will end with issue #30. It is hard to believe that the adventures of Mayday Parker began in 1998. Many people said that it would be cancelled. I am glad that Tom and the artists who worked on this series have had the opportunity to tell traditional comic book stories. My hat is off to everyone who has worked on this series.

This series took on extra meaning to me after the disaster that happened to Peter Parker in the regular Spider-Man books. This series still features the Peter Parker that I grew up with. Sure, he is a little older but he still holds the same values that Peter has had since the first Lee/Ditko story.

The good news is the discussion that this series will be added to the Amazing Spider-Man Family book.
