HIGHLIGHTS FROM ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #15

Instant Chemistry Between Wonder Woman and Batman

There is instant chemistry between Absolute Wonder Woman and Batman in their first meeting. Kelly Thompson taps into what makes both characters distinct so that their chemistry can shine through. Because of that chemistry the light is shined even more on what the Absolute Universe has done to make these characters different from their mainline DC Universe counterparts. It ultimately allows both characters to sound like genuine people without an agenda throughout their interaction in Absolute Wonder Woman #15.

Avoiding the Hero vs Hero Misunderstanding

What made the dynamic between these two characters so refreshing is that Thompson didn’t just go for the easy hero vs hero conflict. That is something way to many writers have leaned into with these superhero team-ups starting with misunderstandings. Especially when it comes to any Batman first-time meetings with other heroes. It is just an excuse to get heroes to fight because it’s cool. By not going that route Thompson simply focused on telling a story that make sense for both characters. It is something that was able to utilize Wonder Woman’s magic expertise with Batman being a great detective.

Absolute Wonder Woman Continued Magic Use

In having a story that focus on what these two characters each do best we delve into Wonder Woman’s magic knowledge. Wonder Woman quickly understanding Batman’s curiosity for new knowledge acted as a vehicle for her to talk about it more. Specifically, how blood magic works and how it is normally done. It adds to the mystery that goes on here. It also helps to make it so when we do get Absolute Batman vs Wonder Woman it is done in a way that works in context of the story. More importantly, it establishes an element to Absolute Wonder Woman that we can see come into play with the upcoming Absolute Zatanna story happening in this series.

Hayden Sherman Gorgeous Artwork

Hayden Sherman once again proves why they are one of the best artists in the industry right now. Absolute Wonder Woman #15 looks absolutely stunning. He does so much to capture the different personalities of Batman and Wonder Woman with how they interact with one another. The artwork helps sell how immediately both heroes treat each other as equals. That goes a long way for making you more invested on the direction the magical mystery goes. It does a lot to ground the story even with all the magical elements going on.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK IN ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #15

Nothing!
