After taking a break in December 2025 DC K.O. returns with the third issue of the main event. The main series is picking things up from the series of one-shot stories that made up the Sweet 16 round. That saw a wide variety of quality for the DC K.O. that ended up halting the momentum of the series. That leaves a lot for this third issue to do to pick things back up. Let’s see if that can happen with DC K.O. #3.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DC K.O. #3
Finally Get the Fighting Tournament Promised
Now this is what we are talking about! After two issues that felt like we had the rug pulled from under us DC K.O. #3 delivered on the expectation set when this event was announced. All that was needed was to actually give us fighting tournament fights to live up to those expectations. There was such a different energy to these four fights that helped to showcase all combatents involved. It gave Scott Snyder and Javi Fernandez to give us a variety in how each fight was structured. There was a constant feeling that every page and panel was maximized to get over how serious this King Omega Tournament’s stakes are.

Tag Team Dynamic Battles
The choices for tag team partners that Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Zatanna, Cyborg, Joker, Aquaman, and Guy Gardner said a lot about them. Snyder and Fernandez did a great job at showing why each of the final eight made the choices they did. That was all shown through the course of the four tag team fights. There was a sense of payoff to these choices. From Zatanna choosing Constantine for their close bond and magic powers to Cyborg choosing Connor Hawke for his combat expertise, every choice was done with clear thought. That made the surprises by Superman and Joker in particular standout to hit on the level the creative team intended.
Elite 4 Winners Strong Showing
Snyder and Fernandez certainly did their best to hide who were the favorites to win their fights. No matter how hard they did try the winners of Superman, Wonder Woman, Joker, and Lex Luthor was clear. But even with the winners being obvious the fighting was intense enough that as the reader you were immersed in the story. Creating immersion made the moments for how Superman, Wonder Woman, Joker, and Lex Luthor won help elevate them. The final four’s showing gave a strong argument for why it could be believed any of them could win.
Superman’s Wicked Main Character Status
While all final four members have a strong showing it is Superman that stood out most. Superman is clearly positioned as the main character of DC K.O. A particular focus on his main character status is how he is crossing the line in ways he wouldn’t normally. That is seen with the truth behind his choice of Shazam as his partner. While he initially says it was to give Billy Batson a second chance the truth was he just wanted the Shazam power. This revelation emphasized how everyone in the King Omega tournament has to do everything to win. And it does seem that there is some ramifications to Superman claiming the Omega Beams in the first round. He seems to have been affected by the Omega Effect in ways others haven’t.
Positioning of Absolute Universe
The final few pages establish Absolute Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Darkseid-Booster Gold as the next test. The presentation of the Absolute Trinity shows that they have been put under the control of Darkseid. What that actually means for the DC K.O. tournament and Absolute Universe will be interesting to see. This next round could say a lot for what we can expect from both universes in 2026.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK IN DC K.O. #3

Interlude Story not Connecting
The interlude story that we keep seeing in DC K.O. is not working right now. It was a cool way to start off this event. But coming back to this interaction between Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Diana Prince, and Bruce Wayne just feels like a distraction. Maybe that is the intention or to set up how Batman or something else will come into play. Unfortunately how it has been done in these last two issues has not worked out.
Multiple Artists Hit-or-Miss
Javi Fernandez certainly gets over the chaotic nature of the DC K.O. tournament and Xermanico has a calmness to the interlude. That said, it does feel like both Fernandez and Xermanico are trying to much to match each other’s art style. That leads to the artwork lacking the full detail you want from a big event-level presentation for this type of comic. There are times in the fights that come across as messy not just because of how busy the action is. It gets tough to see what happens that takes away the impact of certain moves that different characters make. It doesn’t happen constantly but just enough that you can see where it could be better.
FINAL THOUGHTS
DC K.O. #3 is exactly the chapter this series has needed for four months. Scott Snyder and Javi Fernandez did a great job stagging the four tag team fights to get over the stakes of the tournament. In the process all eight participants put over as to why they made it this far. This in turn helped establish the final four as having strong arguments for being the winner of the King Omega title. That along with the ending showing the Absolute Universe coming into play creates a great amount of momentum for the second half of this event.
