Looks like we have a balanced shipment of DC comic books and Marvel comic books headed to the Bunker today. We have a total of 13 titles for this week. I’ll try to post as many reviews as possible.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? It is a tough choice between Countdown #50 and Justice League of America #9. It is the sweet Legion of Super Heroes plotline on the JLA that is going to make Justice League of America #9 the DC comic book I am looking forward to reading the most. I have been completely enthralled with this story arc and cannot wait to see the other Legionnaires make their appearances.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder #5. I mean, what has it been since issue #4 came out? A year? I don’t even remember what is going on with this title other than Batman made Robin eat rats. It is a complete joke the schedule that this title has been keeping. It isn’t even worth publishing a title that comes out this irregularly.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? This is a tough choice between Moon Knight #10 and X-Factor #19. I’m going to have to go with Moon Knight #10. We are nearing Huston’s end on this title. Huston has been nothing short of spectacular. I hope that Marvel manages to extend Huston’s contract beyond the initial 12 issues of this title.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Ultimates 2 #13. I mean, what the hell, is it a sign of the Apocalypse that we manage to get both a new issue of All-Star Batman as well as a new issue of Ultimates? I am stunned. It is like seeing Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster all in the same day.

I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

  1. I’ll be getting the new All-Star Batman just to see what crazy $#%@ Frank Miller comes up with next. The last few issues have been awful, but we haven’t had anything quite worthy of “I’m the goddamn Batman” in a while.

Just wondering, but have you ever read “Fables”? Because that’s pretty much DC/Vertigo’s best book right now, in my opinion.

LOL… nearly did a spit-take when I read your above comment. Yep, you sum it up very well. Someone ought to tell all these creators that there is a reason why comic books are classified as periodicals… because they, y’know, come out periodically, i.e. on a regular basis. And, no, once a year is *not* a regular basis. Sheesh!

  3. Fables is an awesome title. Consistently well-written, and a must-read for anyone not grabbing it. Perhaps the Revolution will finally drop Ghost Rider, and succumb to the Vertigo effect.

I’ll pick up ASB&R just to read Miller. I thought the first issue was god-awful, but I’m looking at it more as an Elseworlds title now, as opposed to All-Star. I’m surprised DC is publishing two AS books that are so completely different in tone, though.
To me, the best scene in this storyline so far is Batman pimping Superman, and laughing maniacally about it. He says something akin to ‘Kent is my b^tch, and he doesn’t even know who the hell I am.’
I’m hoping for more crazy sh^t like that to happen.
    Huzzah!
