We have a monster sized shipment of comic books headed to the Bunker today. We are getting a total of 18 titles. This selection of titles is evenly split between Marvel and DC. I am going to have to take an extra long lunch hour today in order to get a head start on all of these comic books.
Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am curious to read Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds #2. I have a hard time reconciling if my curiosity is more of a morbid one of wanting to see just how many characters Johns is going to slaughter or if it is more of an excited curiosity in hopes that Johns actually has a good story in mind with this title.
Final Crisis: Rogues’ Revenge #3 should be an exciting read. I have completely enjoyed this mini-series. Johns has done a phenomenal job with the Rogues and it is nice to finally see their dangling plotline from Bart’s death finally getting resolved.
Huh, how about that. All three titles that I am most interested in reading this week are all from Geoff Johns. DC really owes a huge debt of gratitude to Johns. I swear I do not know where DC would be without Johns doing all the heavy lifting for them.
Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I am sure that Batman and The Outsiders #12 with be another average read. This title continues to suffer from a lack of any clear identity or purpose. I am curious how long DC is going to let this title languish before they decide to put it out of its misery.
However, the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Titans #6. I can only imagine how Winick is going to find new ways to butcher this all-star line-up of Teen Titans. It is amazing that a title with the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans is such a terrible read.
Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Moon Knight #23 should be another good read. This title was flagging for a while, but it appears that Mike Benson has gotten it back on track as of late. If nothing else, we should get plenty of unbridled violence.
Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Well, there are plenty of comic books to choose from this week. I do not expect much from Astonishing X-Men #27. And it is a shame since I am a fan of Warren Ellis. But, the fact remains that this title has been very average. It certainly is not as exciting as what Whedon was giving us.
I have little interest in Mighty Avengers #19. This looks to be yet another boring flashback Secret Invasion tie-in issue. With Secret Invasion lumbering on with little direction or purpose, the various tie-in issues on New Avengers and Mighty Avengers are rapidly dropping in terms of quality. I see no reason for that trend to reverse itself with Mighty Avengers #19.
However, I have to go with Uncanny X-Men #503 as the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading. Brubaker and Fraction may have created some fantastic magic over on Iron Fist, but their work on Uncanny X-Men has been hideous. This title is practically unreadable and I have little faith that this issue is going to be anything different.
As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

I just read “Superman’s Pal: Jimmy Olsen,” the one-shot, and it was surprisingly good–as was “Vixen: Return of the Lion.” I’d recommend checking out both, if you’ve got the means and the time.
