March 2024 Single Issue Comic Book Sales Rankings

It is time to check out the March 2024 single-issue comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier in terms of actual unit numbers. So, we will have to settle with going to ICv2 for their Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we have to work with what we get.

Keep in mind, that the Top 200 single-issue comic sales charts are based on orders tracked by the ComicHub system at local comic book shops selling American comics. This includes over 3,000 stores selling American comics worldwide. As always, it is important to remember that these rankings are also not actual sales. These rankings only represent the number of units ordered by local comic shops.

You can go over to ICv2 and check out the Top 50 for March 2024 for free or opt for a pro membership (It is well worth the money) and get the Top 200 for March 2024 and then come back here for a detailed analysis of the March 2024 sales rankings!

March 2024 Top 200 Single-Issue Comic Rankings

The Battle for the Top 10

Marvel Comics placed six comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the four comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 10 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as Marvel Comics also had six comics in the Top 10 in March 2023. However, numbers were down from two years ago as Marvel Comics had eight comics in the Top 10 in March 2022.

This is the second straight month that Marvel Comics has had a decline in sales in the Top 10 compared to two years ago. This is due to Image Comics and Dynamite Comics striking gold with old 1980s properties.

Marvel Comics benefitted from a ton of brand-new comics debuting in March 2024. Three of Marvel Comics’ six comics were #1 issues.

DC Comics placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were down from the three comics that DC Comics had in the Top 10 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were down as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in March 2023. Numbers were down from two years ago as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in March 2022.

The one DC Comics title in the Top 10 was Batman #145 which took the number 5 spot.

This was an embarrassing performance by DC Comics. Sales numbers are down from a month ago, a year ago, and two years ago.

Image Comics placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were down from the two comics that Image Comics had in the Top 10 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2022.

Image Comics’ sole Top 10 comic was from the Hasbro franchise which continues to pay dividends for the comic publisher.

Dynamite Ent. placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were flat as Dynamite Ent. also had one comic in the Top 10 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2022.

ThunderCats #2 dropped from the number 2 spot to the number 9 spot. it is impressive that Thundercats has been able to score back-to-back Top 10 finishes. It is interesting to see the massive positive fan response to this old 1980s property.

IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 10 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as IIDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 10 in March 2022.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Last Ronin II Re-Evolution #1 debuted at the number 3 spot. Yet, another 1980s property in the Top 10. If it was not for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, IDW Publishing would be out of business by now.

It is incredible to see three 1980s properties in Transformers, ThunderCats, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the Top 10. There is no doubt a large percentage of readers who have been run off by Marvel Comics and DC Comics who are flocking to these titles.

The Battle for the Top 25

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 11-25 range typically sell in the 65,000 to 50,000 unit range.

Marvel Comics placed seventeen comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were flat as Marvel Comics also had seventeen comics in the Top 25 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Marvel Comics had sixteen comics in the Top 25 in March 2023. Numbers were down by a wide margin from two years ago as Marvel Comics had twenty-one comics in the Top 25 in March 2022.

This is the second straight month that Marvel Comics has had a decline in sales in the Top 25 compared to two years ago. This loss of ground in the Top 25 is due to the success of the 1980s properties from Image Comics, Dynamite Comics, and IDW Publishing.

Debut issues powered Marvel Comics Top 25 success. Eight of Marvel Comics’ seventeen comics were #1 issues. These debut issues are mostly Spider-Man franchise and X-Men franchise comics.

Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1 debuted at the number 19 spot. This four-issue mini-series had a nice debut. It looks like Benjamin Percy may have another hit on his hands.

Image Comics placed four comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the three comics that Image Comics had in the Top 25 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were way up as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 25 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Image Comics had one comic in the Top 25 in March 2022.

The Hasbro franchise continues to boost Image Comics in the sales rankings. Three of Image Comics’ four comics in the Top 25 were from the Hasbro franchise.

DC Comics placed two comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the four comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were way down as DC Comics had seven comics in the Top 25 in March 2023. Numbers were also down from two years ago as DC Comics had three comics in the Top 25 in March 2022.

What is DC Comics even doing anymore? Image Comics doubling up DC Comics in the Top 25 shows how DC Comics has lost the plot. Readers simply are not interested in what DC Comics is delivering. The Hasbro franchise titles have attracted more readers as readers search for something targeting them rather than purposely trying to run them off.

The fact that DC Comics has fewer comics in the Top 25 than two years ago when we all thought the publisher was near dead is alarming. Dawn of DC has failed and I am unsure exactly where DC Comics can go from here to revive their moribund line of comics.

Dynamite Ent. placed one comic in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were flat as Dynamite Ent. also had one comic in the Top 25 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 25 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 25 in March 2022.

IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 25 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 25 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 25 in March 2022.

The Battle for the Top 50

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 26-50 range typically sell in the 49,000 to 30,000 unit range.

Marvel Comics placed thirty-five comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the thirty-one comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 50 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Marvel Comics had thirty-two comics in the Top 50 in March 2023. Numbers were flat from two years ago as Marvel Comics also had thirty-five comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Daredevil #7 fell from the number 36 spot to the number 46 spot. This is the second consecutive month that Ahmed Saladin’s Daredevil has fallen in the sales rankings. This is alarmingly low as we have not seen Daredevil this low in the sales rankings in years. Daredevil has been a solid Top 25 title for years. Perhaps this young title can rebound next month.

DC Comics placed eight comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were way down from the fourteen comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were down as DC Comics had fifteen comics in the Top 50 in March 2023. Numbers were also down from two years ago as DC Comics had nine comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

The decline in sales numbers from last month and last year is shocking. Even worse is the fact that DC Comics sold fewer comics in the Top 50 than they did two years ago. This is awful. What is DC Comics even doing? Back in 2022, DC Comics was in total wreckage and looking for Dawn of DC to save their line of comics. We are getting to the point where serious changes are going to be required at the top of DC Comics and in editorial to try and turn around this flailing publisher.

To no surprise, five of DC Comics’ eight comics were from the Batman franchise. Being almost completely reliant on the Batman franchise to power sales is right where DC Comics was two years ago.

Image Comics placed five comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the four comics that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were way up as Image Comics had one comic in the Top 50 in March 2023. Numbers were also up from two years ago as Image Comics had four comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Four of Image Comics’ five comics in the Top 50 were from the Hasbro franchise. Image Comics would be non-competitive and on the same level as the small indie publishers without this lucrative Hasbro license.

Dynamite Ent. placed one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were flat as Dynamite Ent. also had one comic in the Top 50 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 50 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 50 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as IIDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 50 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

The Battle for the Top 75

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 51-75 range typically sell in the 29,000 to 25,000 unit range.

Marvel Comics placed forty-eight comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the forty-four comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 75 in February 2024.. Year-over-year numbers were up as Marvel Comics had forty-five comics in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were also up from two years ago as Marvel Comics had forty-six comics in the Top 75 in March 2022.

Things are looking pretty good for Marvel Comics in the Top 75 compared to historical numbers.

Fantastic Four #18 dropped from the number 30 spot to the number 54 spot. This is a big drop and the lowest that we have seen Fantastic Four since this title was launched.

G.O.D.S. #6 dropped from the number 38 spot to the number 63 spot. This is the second straight month that G.O.D.S. has fallen in the sales rankings.

DC Comics placed sixteen comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the seventeen comics that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were also down as DC Comics had twenty-two comics in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were flat from two years ago as DC Comics had sixteen comics in the Top 75 in March 2022.

It does not get much better for DC Comics in the Top 75. They are down compared to a month ago and a year ago. The fact that DC Comics is selling the same in the Top 75 as they were two years ago is more proof that Dawn of DC failed.

To no surprise, ten of DC Comics’ sixteen comics were from the Batman franchise.

Image Comics placed eight comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the ten comics that Image Comics had in the Top 75 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Image Comics had five comics in the Top 75 in March 2023. However, numbers were down from two years ago as Image Comics had nine comics in the Top 75 in March 2022.

Four were from the Hasbro franchise, two were from Geoff Johns’ Ghost Machine imprint, and one was from the Spawn franchise. Without these titles, Image Comics would have just had one comic in the Top 75.

Dynamite Ent. placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were flat as Dynamite Ent. also had one comic in the Top 75 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 75 in March 2022.

IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 75 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as IIDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were flat from two years ago as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 75 in March 2022.

Dark Horse Comics placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Dark Horse Comics had in the Top 75 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as Dark Horse Comics also had one comic in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were flat from two years ago as Dark Horse Comics also had one comic in the Top 75 in March 2022.

The Battle for the Top 100

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 76-100 range typically sell in the 24,000 to 18,000 unit range.

Marvel Comics placed sixty-three comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were way up from the fifty-three comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Marvel Comics had fifty-seven comics in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were also up from two years ago as Marvel Comics had fifty-six comics in the Top 100 in March 2022.

Doctor Strange #13 fell from the number 51 spot to the number 83 spot. This is the second consecutive month that Doctor Strange has slipped in the sales rankings. This is also the lowest in the sales rankings that this title has been since it was launched.

DC Comics placed twenty comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down from the twenty-three comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were way down as DC Comics had twenty-nine comics in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were also way down from two years ago as DC Comics had twenty-seven comics in the Top 100 in March 2022.

This is brutal. DC Comics sales are down by a wide margin compared to a year ago and two years ago. Two years ago, DC Comics was getting slaughtered by Marvel Comics, and the Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern franchises were in ruins. To see sales so far down compared to a year ago and two years ago highlights the failure of the Dawn of DC initiative. DC Comics has some dark days ahead as they try and figure out what to do next.

To no surprise, thirteen of DC Comics’ twenty comics in the Top 100 were from the Batman franchise.

Image Comics placed thirteen comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down from the fourteen comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in February 2024. However, year-over-year numbers were up as Image Comics had nine comics in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were also up from two years ago as Image Comics had twelve comics in the Top 100 in March 2022.

Six were from the Hasbro franchise, three were from Geoff Johns’ Ghost Machine imprint, and three were from the Spawn franchise. Without these titles, Image Comics would have just had one comic in the Top 100. Again, these numbers emphasize how important these franchises are to Image Comics since the other titles from Image Comics are way too niche.

Dynamite Ent. placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down from the two comics that Dynamite Ent. had in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were up as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 75 in March 2023. Numbers were up from two years ago as Dynamite Ent. had zero comics in the Top 75 in March 2022.

IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as IIDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were down from two years ago as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 100 in March 2022.

Dark Horse Comics placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were flat as Dark Horse Comics also had one comic in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were flat as Dark Horse Comics also had one comic in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were flat from two years ago as Dark Horse Comics also had one comic in the Top 100 in March 2022.

BOOM! Studios placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down from the two comics that BOOM! Studios had in the Top 100 in February 2024. Year-over-year numbers were also down as BOOM! Studios also had three comics in the Top 100 in March 2023. Numbers were also down from two years ago as BOOM! Studios had two comics in the Top 100 in March 2022.

The numbers are not good for BOOM! Studios as they remain a non-player in the Top 100. The sole BOOM! Studios comic in the Top 100 was Mans Best #1 which debuted at the number 97 spot.

The Joshua Williamson Award For The Writer With The Most Titles In The Top 50

Six writers had two comics in the Top 50.

Victor LaValle had two comics with Wolverine #45 at the number 17 spot and Wolverine #46 at the number 36 spot.

Greg Weisman had two comics with Spectacular Spider-Men #1 at the number 4 spot and Web of Spider-Man #1 at the number 16 spot.

Steve Foxe had two comics with X-Men ’97 #1 at the number 10 spot and Web of Spider-Man #1 at the number 16 spot.

Kieron Gillen had two comics with X-Men Forever #1 at the number 14 spot and Rise of the Powers of X #3 at the number 26 spot.

Al Ewing had two comics with Immortal Thor #8 at the number 38 spot and Resurrection of Magneto #3 at the number 45 spot.

Joshua Williamson had two comics with Cobra Commander #3 at the number 18 spot and Duke #4 at the number 34 spot.

Six writers had three comics in the Top 50.

Cody Ziglar had three comics with Deadpool #1 at the number 15 spot, Web of Spider-Man #1 at the number 16 spot, and Miles Morales Spider-Man #18 at the number 35 spot.

Jonathan Hickman had three comics with Ultimate Spider-Man #3 at the number 2 spot, Ultimate Spider-Man #2 at the number 24 spot, and Ultimate Spider-Man #1 at the number 39 spot

Gerry Duggan had three comics with X-Men #32 at the number 11 spot, Fall of the House of X #3 at the number 12 spot, and X-Men #33 at the number 40 spot.

Zeb Wells had three comics with Amazing Spider-Man #45 at the number 7 spot, Web of Spider-Man #1 at the number 16 spot, and Amazing Spider-Man #46 at the number 21 spot.

Chip Zdarsky had three comics with Batman #145 at the number 5 spot, Avengers: Twilight #4 at the number 13 spot, and Batman #146 at the number 30 spot.

Benjamin Percy had three comics with Wolverine #45 at the number 17 spot, Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1 at the number 19 spot, and Wolverine #46 at the number 36 spot.

These six writers tied for first place with three comics in the Top 50. This is the most number of writers we have tied for first place! So, we go to tie-breakers! Because the March 2024 sales rankings mysteriously had the comics shipped in the week of April 3, 2024, included in it we will first eliminate any writers who had a comic released during April 3, 2024. This eliminates Gerry Duggan and Cody Ziglar.

The next tie-breaker is writers who have more than one comic from the same title get eliminated first. That gets rid of Hickman.

The next tie-breaker is that writers who have a one-shot as one of their comics are eliminated. This gets rid of Wells.

This leaves Zdarsky versus Percy. Wow. This is an epic battle! The next tie-breaker is the writer who has a mini-series as one of their comics is eliminated. However, both writers have a mini-series as one of their comics.

So, we now go to the next tie-breaker which is the average sales rankings of the comics for each writer. Zdarsky averaged the number 16 spot. Percy averaged the number 24 spot.

Therefore, the winner of the Joshua Williamson Award for March 2024 is…Chip Zdarsky!

Battle of the Franchises

The Spider-Man franchise took first place with three comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and thirteen comics in the Top 50.

The X-Men franchise took second place with two comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and twelve comics in the Top 50.

The Avengers franchise took third place with one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.

The Batman franchise took fourth place with one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.

The Hasbro franchise took fifth place with one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

154 Batman Dylan Dog #1 (Of 3) (DC Comics)

199 Ape-Ril Special #1 (One-Shot) (DC Comics)

Unranked: Batman and Robin and Howard #1 (DC Comics)

As usual, we will address these issues in the various franchise sections below. However, there is one title we will address now.

Suicide Squad Dream Team #1 had a horrendous debut failing to even make the Top 100 and coming in at the number 127 spot. This four-issue mini-series is dead on arrival. This is no surprise. DC Comics decided to hire Nicole Maines to write this title. Maines is an actor and has zero writing qualifications or experience.

I remain mystified why DC Comics thought hiring a Hollywood actor to write a mainstream superhero comic book was a good idea. The result has predictably blown up in DC Comics’ face. It is decisions like this that lead me to have no faith in DC Comics’ editorial.

Big Events

Fall of House of X

11 X-Men #32

12 Fall of the House of X #3

56 Dead X-Men #3

177 Resurrection of Magneto #2 (Resolicitation)

183 Rise of the Powers of X #2 (Resolicitation)

187 Dead X-Men #2

Fall of House of X continues to perform well for Marvel Comics. This big event story slotted three comics in the Top 25 and six comics in the Top 50.

Gang War

70 Amazing Spider-Man #44 (Resolicitation)

152 Amazing Spider-Man #43 (Resolicitation)

Hasbro Franchise

6 Transformers #6

18 Cobra Commander #3

25 Void Rivals #7

34 Duke #4

78 GI Joe A Real American Hero #305

86 Void Rivals #8

119 Duke #3 (Resolicitation)

164 Transformers #5 (Resolicitation)

174 Cobra Commander #2 (Resolicitation)

The Hasbro franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50. This was better than February 2024 when the Hasbro franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Transformers #6 dipped from the number 5 spot to the number 6 spot. Talk about consistency! Transformers continues to be an unstoppable sales monster.

Cobra Commander #3 dipped from the number 13 spot to the number 18 spot. This five-issue mini-series remains a consistent seller and looks like it will conclude in the Top 25.

Void Rivals #7 climbed from the number 41 spot to the number 25 spot. This is an impressive climb for a title that last shipped in November 2023. Normally, a three-month break in the shipping schedule derails a comic’s momentum.

Void Rivals #8 came in at the number 86 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Duke #4 remained steady by only ticking down from the number 33 spot to the number 34 spot. Shipping in the final week of the month did nothing to derail this title’s success.

GI Joe A Real American Hero #305 dropped from the number 58 spot to the number 78 spot. This is the second straight month that this title has fallen in the sales rankings.

Spawn Franchise

67 Spawn #351

87 Gunslinger Spawn #29

98 King Spawn #31

107 Spawn #350 (Resolicitation)

113 Sam and Twitch Case Files #1

132 Spawn Scorched #27

138 King Spawn #32

166 Gunslinger Spawn #30

The Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50.

Gunslinger Spawn #30 is another comic that shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Sam and Twitch Case Files #1 had a terrible debut failing to make the Top 100 and coming in at the number 113 spot. I had a feeling this would happen. Sam and Twitch are the most niche characters of all the characters from the Spawn Universe.

Ghost Machine Titles

57 Rook Exodus #1

75 Geiger #1

77 Redcoat #1

Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50.

Rook Exodus #1, Geiger #1, and Redcoat #1 all debuted on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings. I am all in on the Ghost Machine comics and am excited by the potential.

Star Wars Franchise

37 Star Wars Visions -Takashi Okazaki #1

48 Star Wars: Jango Fett #1

51 Star Wars #44

59 Star Wars: Darth Vader #44

91 Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances #3

105 Star Wars: The High Republic (Phase III) #4

110 Star Wars: Mace Windu #2

111 Star Wars: The High Republic (Phase III) #5

131 Star Wars #45

163 Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances #2 (Resolicitation)

172 Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi #6

The Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was the same as in February 2024 when the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were flat as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were way down from two years ago as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Star Wars Visions -Takashi Okazaki (2023) #1 had an average debut failing to make the Top 25 and coming in at the number 37 spot. It is interesting to note that it is the Japanese Star Wars comic that was the best-selling Star Wars title for March 2024. The Star Wars content from Japan has easily been the best Star Wars content we have gotten since Disney acquired Lucasfilm.

Star Wars #44 climbed from the number 57 spot to the number 51 spot. This is the second consecutive month that this title has been outside of the Top 50.

Star Wars #45 came in at the number 131 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances #3 dropped from the number 73 spot to the number 91 spot. It is going to be a struggle for this four-issue mini-series to conclude in the Top 100.

Star Wars: The High Republic (Phase III) #4 fell from the number 87 spot to the number 105 spot. Star Wars: The High Republic (Phase III) #5 dropped from the number 105 spot to the number 111 spot.

This title selling outside of the Top 100 is not a surprise. None of the High Republic titles have had any sales success.

Star Wars: Jango Fett #1 had an awful debut barely making the Top 50 by coming in at the number 48 spot. This four-issue mini-series is going to have a tough time concluding in the Top 100.

Star Wars: Darth Vader #44 dropped from the number 41 spot to the number 59 spot. This is the second straight month that this title has fallen in the sales rankings. This is also lower than where we usually find this title.

Star Wars: Mace Windu #2 crashed and burned as it fell from the number 32 spot to the number 110 spot. Only a Marvel Editor would be surprised by this spectacular fall in the rankings. The writer is Marc Bernadin who is an entertainment journalist. This continues the trend of non-comic book writers failing to have any sales success when writing a mainstream superhero comic book.

Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi #6 fell from the number 125 spot to the number 172 spot. With this issue, this six-issue mini-series has concluded. Jody Houser failed to get any readers interested in this mini-series.

The Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and thirteen comics in the Top 50. This was better than February 2024 when the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, seven comics in the Top 25, and eleven comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up/down as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, seven comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Web of Spider-Man #1 had a strong debut taking the number 16 spot. This is no surprise. This one-shot issue is a promotional issue giving the reader a teaser of the upcoming storylines in the various Spider-Man franchise comic books for 2024.

Ultimate Spider-Man #3 ticked down from the number 1 spot to the number 2 spot. This issue shipped in the final week of March 2024 giving more proof that shipping in the final week of a month is not a guaranteed death sentence. Ultimate Spider-Man has been an absolute sales monster! The first three issues took the number one spot, the number one spot, and the number two spot. That is insane. I guess trying to make your core fanbase happy rather than giving them the middle finger is the best approach.

The resolicitation for Ultimate Spider-Man #2 took the number 24 spot. That is ridiculous. It is a rarity for a resolicitation of an issue to score a Top 25 ranking. Equally impressive is that the resolicitation of Ultimate Spider-Man #1 grabbed the number 39 spot. That is a phenomenally high sales ranking for a resolicitation of an issue from two months ago. Ultimate Universe Peter Parker is white hot and shows no signs of slowing down.

Amazing Spider-Man #45 ticked down from the number 6 spot to the number 7 spot. Amazing Spider-Man #46 shipped in the last week of March 2024 and came in at the number 21 spot. This is about where we see the second issue of Amazing Spider-Man each month. The resolicitation for Amazing Spider-Man #44 took the number 70 spot. This is an impressive ranking for a resolicitated issue, and I would normally go nuts over such a high ranking. But, Ultimate Spider-Man is posting ridiculous rankings for resolicitated issues that it is warping our perception!

At any rate, it is Peter Parker who is driving the big sales success for the Spider-Man franchise. No doubt about it.

Spider-Man: Shadow of the Green Goblin #1 debuted at the number 94 spot. This comic shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Spectacular Spider-Men #1 had a phenomenal debut taking the number 4 spot. This issue was augmented by five open order covers, two reprint covers, three incentive covers, and five retailer covers. That is a lot of variant covers! This comic is written by Greg Weisman who is the writer of the Spectacular Spider-Men animated series. This new comic stars Peter Parker and Miles Morales. It is going to be fascinating to see how this title performs over the next few months.

All right, let’s check out all of the knock-off Spider-Men.

Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #1 had an average debut coming in at the number 29 spot. This is nice but nothing impressive. This issue was boosted by three open order covers, two reprint covers, three incentive covers, and a miscellaneous cover.  I love Miguel O’Hara’s character and usually enjoy Peter David’s writing so I am all in on this comic. I will be interested to see how this five-issue mini-series performs over the next few months.

Miles Morales Spider-Man #18 fell from the number 31 spot to the number 35 spot. This is the third consecutive month that Miles has fallen in the sales rankings. This issue was bolstered by five open order covers and three incentive covers. Next month is a big month for Miles Morales to see if this title can finally arrest its slide in the sales rankings.

Edge of Spider-Verse #2 fell like a dead duck from the number 8 spot to the number 42 spot. Ouch. This was despite having four open order covers, two reprint covers, three incentive covers, and two retailer exclusive covers. We shall see if this four-issue mini-series can rebound next month or if it is doomed to finish outside of the Top 50.

Spider-Punk: Arms Race #2 crashed and burned falling from the number 17 spot and out of the Top 50 and down to the number 79 spot. It seems like Cody Ziglar failed to convince many readers to stick around after the debut issue. We shall see if this four-issue mini-series can bounce back next month or if it continues to slide down to the bottom of the Top 100.

Spider-Boy #5 plummeted like a rock from the number 40 spot down to the number 84 spot. That is a massive drop that I was not expecting to see this month. It is still early for this young title so there is a good chance that it might rebound in the rankings.

Superior Spider-Man #5 took a big drop falling from the number 48 spot to the number 99 spot. That is also a huge drop and one that I was not expecting. This title has been a stable Top 50 title over its first four issues. Again, it is still early so we shall see what happens over the next few months.

Let’s check out the Venomverse.

Venom #31 bobbed up from the number 34 spot to the number 31 spot. This is the same place in the rankings that Venom #30 had in January. It appears that this title continues to occupy its happy space in the rankings.

Venom #32 took the number 88 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, so it should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

What If…? Venom #2 dropped from the number 21 spot to the number 41 spot. That is not that bad for this title.

Carnage #5 climbed from the number 109 spot to the number 80 spot. This is the second straight month that Carnage has climbed up into the rankings. This is also the first month since December 2023 that Carnage has been in the Top 100. At least things are starting to trend upward for this young title.

Let’s check out the ladies of the Spider-Man franchise.

Jackpot & Black Cat #1 had an awful debut coming in at the number 50 spot. This is despite shipping with a mind-bending six open order covers, four incentive covers, and two incentive covers. I am not surprised that this issue did so poorly on its debut. Celeste Bronfman is the writer. Bronfman is not a superhero comic book writer. She is the writer for children’s TV shows and has also written the My Little Pony comic book. I am unsure why Marvel Comics’ editorial thought she would be qualified to write a mainstream superhero comic book. Again, this is just another example of non-mainstream comic book writers failing in the sales charts.

Giant-Size Spider-Gwen #1 had an abysmal debut coming in at the number 81 spot. Spider-Gwen’s other title performed poorly, too. Spider-Gwen: Smash #4 fell in a death spiral from the number 67 spot to the number 108 spot. With this issue, Spider-Gwen: Smash has concluded. This four-issue mini-series was a sales failure. I am unsure if these unimpressive sales numbers are due to the Spider-Gwen gimmick finally running out of steam or if Melissa Flores’ writing chased away readers.

Spider-Woman #5 plummeted like a rock falling from the number 80 spot to the number 165 spot. That is a monster sales crash. I guess the guest appearance of Spider-Boy didn’t entice readers to hop onto this issue.

187 Dead X-Men #2 (Fall of the House of X) (Resolicitation)

The X-Men franchise had two comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and twelve comics in the Top 50. This was better than February 2024 when the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Fall of the House of X #3 ticked down from the number 10 spot to the number 12 spot. This four-issue mini-series remains a sales monster.

Rise of the Powers of X #3 fell from the number 14 spot to the number 26 spot. We shall see if this four-issue mini-series can enjoy a rebound with its final issue next month.

Ultimate X-Men had an amazing debut scoring the number 1 spot in the sales rankings! This issue was powered by a mind-shattering five open order covers, three reprint covers, four incentive covers, and one retailer exclusive cover. My guess is that this title drops out of the Top 10 next month. Peach Momoko’s titles where she handles the writing and artwork have not gotten monster sales numbers. I think the biggest attraction for people is Momoko’s phenomenal cover art. But, maybe Ultimate X-Men will turn out to be Momoko’s first sales beast for Marvel Comics!

X-Men ’97 #1 had a fantastic debut taking the number 10 spot. This issue shipped in the last week of March 2024 showing more proof that sales success can be had in any week of the month. X-Men ’07 #1 was supported by three open order covers, one reprint cover, two incentive covers, three retailer exclusive covers, and four event exclusive covers. We shall see what kind of staying power this five-issue mini-series has over the next several months.

X-Men #32 stayed at the number 11 spot which is the exact same spot in the rankings that it had in February 2024. Talk about consistency! X-Men #33 took the number 40 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales chart.

X-Men Forever #1 had a strong debut taking the number 14 spot. This issue was powered by four open order covers, two incentive covers, and two retailer exclusive covers. We shall see how this four-issue mini-series performs over the next few months.

Weapon X-Men #1 had a solid debut taking the number 22 spot. This issue was bolstered by three open order covers, one reprint cover, three incentive cover, and one miscellaneous cover. I like the creative team of Christos Gage and Yıldıray Çınar, so I hope this four-issue mini-series enjoys some success.

Dead X-Men #3 bounced up from the number 64 spot to the number 56 spot. This four-issue mini-series has a shot of climbing back into the Top 50 with its final issue next month.

X-Force #50 fell from the number 53 spot to the number 68 spot. This ended two months straight of this title climbing up in the sales rankings.

Let’s check out the solo titles.

Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 had a dreadful debut failing to even make the Top 50 and coming in at the number 52 spot. This is no surprise. Ms. Marvel never sells well. On top of that, the writers are Iman Vellani and Sabir Pirzada. This is more of Marvel Comics’ typical stunt hiring. And, again it failed. Neither Vellani nor Pirzada are mainstream comic book writers. Pirzada is a TV scriptwriter. At least, Pirzada is a writer of some sort. Vellani is just a Hollywood actress. So, I have no idea why Marvel Comics would think Vellani would make for a good mainstream superhero comic book writer. I am not expecting much from this four-issue mini-series.

Deadpool #1 debuted at the number 15 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have appeared in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Wolverine #45 took the number 17 spot and Wolverine #46 took the number 36 spot. This is almost identical to February 2024 when the two issues of Wolverine took the numbers 15 and 36 spots. Logan remains a solid strong seller for Marvel Comics. It appears that readers like what Benjamin Percy and Victor LaValle have been delivering on this title.

Wolverine: Madripoor Knights #2 crashed and burned falling from the number 44 spot to the number 96 spot. This mini-series appears to be heading for the Dead Titles Walking category quickly.

Resurrection of Magneto #3 bounced up from the number 52 spot to the number 45 spot. This was a positive sign for this four-issue mini-series given the huge drop between the first and second issues. This title has a good shot of concluding inside of the Top 50.

Cable #3 dropped from the number 85 spot to the number 118 spot. This four-issue mini-series seems doomed to conclude as a Dead Title Walking.

Avengers Franchise

175 Black Panther #10

181 Captain Marvel #6

182 Thunderbolts #4

192 Invincible Iron Man #15 (Resolicitation)

Unranked: The Sentry #4

The Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10 but worse in the Top 25 and Top 50 than in February 2024 when the Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up in the Top 10, down in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50 as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were down from two years ago as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Avengers: Twilight #4 bounced from the number 19 spot to the number 13 spot. What a sales beast Avengers: Twilight has been! This six-issue limited series remains white hot and should have an excellent finish in the rankings.

Avengers #11 fell from the number 27 spot to the number 44 spot. This is the second consecutive month that Avengers has fallen in the sales rankings.

Avengers #12 took the number 93 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should have not appeared in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Thunderbolts #4 cratered as it fell from the number 104 spot to the number 182 spot. With this issue, this four-issue mini-series has concluded. Jackson Lanzing and Colin Kelly’s Thunderbolts was a huge sales failure.

Let’s take a look at the duo titles.

Black Widow & Hawkeye #1 had a terrible debut coming in at the number 66 spot. This is despite this issue being boosted by three open order covers and three incentive covers. Black Widow and Hawkeye are both popular characters and well-known to mainstream audiences. However, Stephanie Phillips is the writer so I expected Black Widow & Hawkeye to perform poorly. Phillips has never had any sales success on a mainstream superhero comic book. It is mystifying why Phillips continues to get hired by Marvel Comics despite never delivering any sales success.

Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #2 suffered a monstrous drop falling from the number 23 spot to the number 109 spot. Ouch. It appears that Steve Orlando’s story drove off a massive percentage of readers who purchased the debut issue. It is brutal that this four-issue mini-series is already a Dead Title Walking with just the second issue. I will readily admit that I did not expect this title to drop this much in the rankings between the first and second issues.

Let’s check out the gentlemen of the Avengers franchise.

Ultimate Black Panther #2 ticked up from the number 12 spot to the number 8 spot. That is amazing! To see a title climb up into the Top 10 between the first and second issues is so rare! It looks like Bryan Hill may have the first sales hit of his comic book career with this title. I had a feeling that this title might do well given how unreadable the 616 Universe Black Panther comic has been under Eve Ewing. Black Panther is a popular character. He just needed a better writer.

Black Panther #10 plummeted from the number 117 spot to the number 175 spot. With this issue, Eve Ewing’s Black Panther has been canceled and mercifully ends. Hopefully, Marvel Comics will hire a real superhero comic book writer for the next volume of Black Panther.

Immortal Thor #8 bounced up from the number 49 spot to the number 38 spot. Immortal Thor #9 took the number 76 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Incredible Hulk #10 dropped from the number 20 spot to the number 43 spot. This title normally bounces between the 20s and the 40s in the sales rankings.

Invincible Iron Man #16 ticked up from the number 65 spot to the number 61 spot. This arrested Mr. Emma Stark’s two-month fall in the sales rankings.

Captain America #7 dropped from the number 50 spot to the number 82 spot. This is the second straight month that Captain America has fallen in the sales rankings. This is also the first time that this title has sold outside of the Top 50.

Captain America #8 took the number 137 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, so it should not have appeared in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Now it is time for the ladies of the Avengers franchise.

Sensational She-Hulk #6 plummeted from the number 45 spot to the number 85 spot. This is almost back to where Sensational She-Hulk #4 was in January 2024 when it took the number 86 spot.

Sensational She-Hulk #7 came in at the number 151 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not be in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Captain Marvel #6 dropped like a rock falling from the number 137 spot to the number 181 spot. This title has been an epic sales disaster. Everyone other than Marvel Comics’ editors knew Alyssa Wong on a Captain Marvel comic was doomed to failure. What a mess. At this point, Marvel Comics might as well cancel this title. Again. And then find a real mainstream superhero writer to handle a new Captain Marvel comic book.

Speaking of disasters. The Sentry #4 fell from the number 164 spot slid right out of the Top 200 and ended up unranked. We all knew this mantle swap Sentry was the answer to a question that nobody was asking.

Unranked: The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #3

The Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse than in February 2024 when the Batman franchise had three comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Batman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were down from two years ago as the Batman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

First up are the Bruce Wayne titles.

#145 ticked up from the number 9 spot to the number 5 spot. Bruce Wayne continues to be the only sales beast for DC Comics.

Batman #146 came in at the number 30 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

The Bat-Man First Knight #1 had an okay debut taking the number 27 spot. I love the creative team of Dan Jurgens and Mike Perkins. Hopefully, this three-issue mini-series performs okay for DC Comics.

Batman Superman World’s Finest #25 crept from the number 30 spot to the number 28 spot. This title continues to be a lock for the Top 50 every month.

Detective Comics #1083 dipped from the number 60 spot to the number 65 spot. This is the second straight month that this comic has fallen in the rankings.

Batman Dark Age #1 had an awful debut coming in at the number 72 spot. This is not a surprise. Mark Russell is the writer and every mainstream superhero comic he writes is a sales failure. I would expect this six-issue mini-series to be a Dead Title Walking quickly.

Batman and Robin #7 dropped from the number 47 spot to the number 74 spot. Wow. That is a much bigger drop than I anticipated. This is also the second straight month this comic has fallen in the sales rankings. This is also the lowest sales ranking that this volume of Batman and Robin has had to this point. None of this is positive news. Next month will be important to see if this is an aberration or not.

Batman ’89 Echoes #2 climbed from the number 115 spot to the number 95 spot. That is surprising! I did not think this six-issue mini-series would climb up the rankings after a big three-month gap in the shipping between issues #1 and #2.

Batman Dylan Dog #1 had a hideous debut coming in at the number 154 spot. Ooof. This three-issue mini-series is going to have a tough time avoiding being unranked with the final issue.

Batman the Brave and the Bold #11 fell from the number 139 spot to the number 167 spot. This is the second consecutive month that this title has fallen in the rankings. The only positive is that this sales ranking is still higher than the number 196 spot which was the ranking that Batman the Brave and the Bold #7 had in November 2023.

Batman and Robin and Howard #1 had a brutal debut failing to make the Top 200 and going unranked.

Okay, it is time to check out the old Robins.

Nightwing #112 dropped from the number 28 spot to the number 49 spot. This is the lowest sales ranking we have seen for Nighting in quite some time.

Red Hood the Hill #2 fell like a rock from the number 63 spot to the number 139 spot. It looks like this six-issue mini-series is going to spend its time locked in the Dead Titles Walking category. The idea of hiring an artist to be the writer of this title did not seem to work out for DC Comics.

Now it is time to check out the team titles.

Birds of Prey #7 fell from the number 39 spot to the number 58 spot. This is about where Birds of Prey #5 was in January 2024 when it took the number 59 spot. This title is beginning to struggle to stay in the Top 50.

Birds of Prey #8 took the number 130 spot. This was an issue that shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Outsiders #5 sunk from the number 129 spot to the number 184 spot. This twelve-issue mini-series is running the risk of ending up out of the Top 200 and unranked before the final issue. This title continues Lanzing and Kelly’s continued lack of sales success.

Next up are the ladies of the Batman franchise.

Poison Ivy #20 fell from the number 46 spot to the number 55 spot. This title has begun to struggle to stay in the Top 50 over the past four months.

Poison Ivy #21 took the number 141 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Catwoman #63 ticked up from the number 93 spot to the number 89 spot. This is where we normally find this title each month.

Harley Quinn #38 climbed up from the number 175 spot to the number 103 spot. This title continues to be a lock for the Dead Titles Walking category every month.

Let’s conclude with the lone villain title.

Penguin #8 fell from the number 128 spot to the number 159 spot. Tom King’s twelve-issue mini-series continues to be a sales dud.

Superman Franchise

28 Batman Superman World’s Finest #25

47 Action Comics #1063

53 Superman #12

171 Kneel Before Zod #3 (Of 12)

Unranked: Superman ’78: The Metal Curtain #5

The Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was worse than in February 2024 when the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were way down as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Action Comics #1063 fell from the number 29 spot to the number 47 spot. This is the second straight month this title has fallen in the sales rankings.

Jason Aaron debuted on Action Comics #1061 at the number 18 spot. Two issues later and this title is almost out of the Top 50. This is definitely not what DC Comics had in mind when hiring a big-name writer like Aaron to helm this title.

Superman #12 fell from the number 37 spot to the number 53 spot. This is the first time that this new Superman comic has sold outside of the Top 50. This is certainly not a positive sign for DC Comics as they try and get their franchises outside of Batman to become sales hits.

Superman ’78: The Metal Curtain #5 fell from the number 136 spot to being out of the Top 200 and unranked. This is more bad news for the Superman franchise.

It is not getting much better for the Superman villain title, either. Kneel Before Zod #3 fell from the number 119 spot to the number 171 spot. It looks like there is a chance that this twelve-issue mini-series might end up being unranked.

Power Girl #7 fell from the number 106 spot to the number 123 spot. This Leah Williamson penned title is performing about what I would expect one of her titles to perform. I still think that Power Girl is popular and just a change at the writer’s spot away from sales success.

It must be distressing for DC Comics to see the Superman franchise titles backsliding in the sales rankings. DC Comics must create more sales successes outside of the Batman franchise.

Justice League Franchise

23 Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong #6 (Of 7)

32 Wonder Woman #7

73 Green Lantern #9

117 Green Arrow #10

126 The Flash #7

149 Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong #5 (Of 7) (Resolicitation)

169 Green Lantern War Journal #7

The Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was worse than in February 2024 when the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in March 2022.

Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong #6 dropped from the number 16 spot to the number 23 spot. This seven-issue mini-serries has been a rare bright spot for DC Comics in their efforts to have sales success outside of the Batman franchise.

Let’s look at the gentlemen of the Justice League franchise.

Green Lantern #9 fell from the number 42 spot to the number 73 spot. This is the lowest that Green Lantern has been since it debuted.

Green Lantern War Journal #7 fell from the number 108 spot to the number 169 spot. This ended three consecutive months of this title climbing up in the rankings.

Green Arrow #10 fell from the number 100 spot to the number 117 spot. This title continues to underperform my expectations.

The Flash #7 fell from the number 98 spot to the number 126 spot. This title is another seriously underperforming comic. Maybe it is time for Barry Allen to make his return.

Next is the sole lady of the Justice League.

Wonder Woman #7 fell from the number 26 spot to the number 32 spot. This is the lowest that this new Wonder Woman title has sold since it debuted. At least DC Comics can take solace in that Wonder Woman’s sales decline has been slow and small. So, there is still a chance for a rebound in the next month or two.

Justice Society Franchise

92 Justice Society of America #9 (Of 12)

123 Power Girl #7

142 Wesley Dodds the Sandman #6 (Of 6)

162 Alan Scott the Green Lantern #5 (Of 6)

The Justice Society franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50. This was the same as in February 2024 when the Justice Society franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50.

Justice Society of America #9 fell from the number 75 spot to the number 92 spot. This twelve-issue mini-series is another sales disappointment for DC Comics. As a longtime JSA fan, I was hoping for more success from this title.

Wesley Dodds the Sandman #6 fell from the number 101 spot to the number 142 spot. With this issue, this mini-series has concluded. Wesley Dodds is a fantastic character. It is a shame that this title was such a sales failure.

Alan Scott the Green Lantern #5 ticked up from the number 165 spot to the number 162 spot. This six-issue mini-series continues to disappoint.

It is a shame that DC Comics has allowed the glorious Justice Society of America franchise to be completely run into the ground. There is no reader interest at all in what DC Comics is doing with these classic characters.

Mantle Swap Comics

35 Miles Morales Spider-Man #18 (Marvel Comics)

52 Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 (Marvel Comics)

60 Vengeance of the Moon Knight #3 (Marvel Comics)

64 Spider-Punk: Arms Race #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

79 Spider-Punk: Arms Race #2 (Marvel Comics)

99 Superior Spider-Man #5 (Marvel Comics)

104 Vengeance of the Moon Knight #4 (Marvel Comics)

122 Daredevil: Gang War #4 (Gang War) (Marvel Comics)

156 Miles Morales Spider-Man #17 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

181 Captain Marvel #6 (Marvel Comics)

195 Blue Beetle #7 (DC Comics)

Unranked: The Sentry #4 (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: Speed Force #5 (DC Comics)

There were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was worse than February 2024 when there were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as there were zero mantle swap comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #3 plummeted from the number 22 spot to the number 60 spot. That is a brutal drop for this title that debuted at the number 11 spot. It appears that many readers were not interested in a mantle-swap Moon Knight. Jed MacKay has had great sales success with Marc Spector, so I am not willing to count MacKay out just yet. Let’s see if this title can rebound next month.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #4 took the number 104 spot. This issue shipped on April 3, 2024, and should not have been included in the March 2024 sales rankings.

Daredevil: Gang War #4 plummeted from the number 71 spot to the number 122 spot. This thirteen-issue mini-series has now become a Dead Title Walking and will have a tough time escaping this category.

Blue Beetle #7 fell from the number 156 spot to the number 195 spot. Nobody outside of DC Comics will be surprised by this. We all see this coming each time Jamie Reyes gets another new title.

Speed Force #5 was unranked for the fourth straight month. What an epic disaster this comic has been. Talk about DC Comics publishing titles for an audience that does not exist in reality.

Legacy Character Comics

49 Nightwing #112 (DC Comics)

58 Birds of Prey #7 (DC Comics)

71 Titans #9 (DC Comics)

84 Spider-Boy #5 (Marvel Comics)

123 Power Girl #7 (DC Comics)

126 The Flash #7 (DC Comics)

130 Birds of Prey #8 (DC Comics)

139 Red Hood the Hill #2 (Of 6) (DC Comics)

184 Outsiders #5 (DC Comics)

197 Nightwing #111 (DC Comics) (Resolicitation)

Unranked: Amazons Attack #6 (DC Comics)

Unranked: Sinister Sons #2 (DC Comics)

There were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was better/worse than February 2024 when there were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as there were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in March 2023.

Titans #9 fell from the number 43 spot to the number 71 spot. This title continues to cool off in rapid fashion post-Beast World.

Sinister Sons #2 dropped from the number 110 spot, out of the Top 200, and ended up unranked. Wow. Being unranked with just the second issue? This is a feat that only DC Comics can deliver. It looks like Sinister Sons did not want Speed Force to feel bad for being unranked with just its second issue.

Female Lead Comics

32 Wonder Woman #7 (DC Comics)

50 Jackpot & Black Cat #1 (Marvel Comics)

52 Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 (Marvel Comics)

Marvel Comics shut out DC Comics by a score of 7-0. Neither publisher is having any huge success in this category, but at least Marvel Comics isn’t soiling its pants like DC Comics. DC Comics should be embarrassed. They need to reevaluate their approach to the titles in this category.

There continues to be a lack of diversity in this category. There are fourteen black characters, two Hispanic characters, and one Asian character. There is a ton of room for growth.

Blade #9 crashed from the number 88 spot to the number 140 spot. Bryan Hill has a tall order to conclude this comic next month outside of the Dead Titles Walking category.

Night Thrasher #2 crashed and burned falling from the number 91 spot and right out of the Top 200 to end up unranked. For this title to be unranked with just the second issue is brutal. Once again, hiring a Hollywood executive producer and story editor in Jason Holtham has blown up in Marvel Comics’ face. This stunt hiring of non-comic book writers never works. It is a real shame. I loved the 1990s New Warriors and I have a soft spot in my heart for Night Thrasher. I wish that Marvel Comics had put a real comic book writer on this title.

Dead Titles Walking

Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, titles outside of the Top 100 are usually selling under the 18,000 unit sales mark. These are the Marvel Comics and DC Comics titles that are dead titles walking.
