It is time to check out the April 2026 comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier in terms of actual unit numbers. So, we must settle for going to ICv2 for their Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we must work with what we get.
Keep in mind that the Top 200 sales rankings are based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub system at over 125 local comic book shops selling American comics. These sales rankings represent sales to consumers by local comic shops.
We all know that these ICv2 sales charts, based on the ComicHub system, are not the most accurate. However, as long as publishers hide their sales statistics, this is the best that we have to go by. You can see that these sales charts provide a rough indication of the market, as titles that are canceled tend to correspond with low sales rankings in these ComicHub charts. I wish we had better data to analyze, but we have to make do with whatever data we have these days.
The data for the April 2026 comic book sales rankings was collected based on a five-week month, from March 29 to May 2, 2026.
You can go over to ICv2 and check out the Top 50 for April 2026 for free, or opt for a pro membership (It is well worth the money) and get the Top 200 for April 2026 and then come back here for a detailed analysis of the April 2026 comic book sales rankings!

The Battle for the Top 10
Marvel Comics placed five comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were up from the two comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 10 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as Marvel Comics had five comics in the Top 10 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had nine comics in the Top 10 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had seven comics in the Top 10 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had seven comics in the Top 10 in April 2022.
Marvel Comics finally had a strong Top 10 showing after an embarrassing March 2026. However, let’s not get too carried away. This was not Marvel Comics suddenly figuring everything out. This was Spider-Man absolutely carrying the publisher across the finish line like a fireman carrying a limp body across his shoulders and out of a burning building.
Four of Marvel Comics’ five issues in the Top 10 came from the Spider-Man franchise. That is a strong showing, but it is also incredibly concentrated.
Further, Marvel Comics is down compared to 2024, 2023, and 2022. Marvel Comics used to dominate this part of the sales chart. Now, Marvel Comics needs Peter Parker to do all the heavy lifting.
DC Comics placed four comics in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were down from the seven comics that DC Comics had in the Top 10 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as DC Comics had five comics in the Top 10 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as DC Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had two comics in the Top 10 in April 2022.
DC Comics took a step back compared to March 2026, but this was still a good Top 10 showing. Two of DC Comics’ four Top 10 titles came from the Absolute Universe. One came from the Marvel/DC crossover. One came from Zatanna #1.
DC Comics is still leaning on the Absolute Universe to provide its elite sales power. However, Zatanna #1 debuting in the Top 10 is an excellent result. That is the type of fresh non-Batman success DC Comics needs more of if it wants this current sales surge to have staying power.
Image Comics placed one comic in the Top 10. Month-over-month sales were flat from the one comic that Image Comics had in the Top 10 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as Image Comics had one comic in the Top 10 in April 2024.
Numbers were flat from three years ago, as Image Comics had one comic in the Top 10 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 10 in April 2022.
Transformers #31 took the number 10 spot. That is a fantastic result for Image Comics. The Hasbro franchise is no longer at the insane heat level it had back in 2024, but Transformers continues to show that it is still Image’s biggest weapon in the Top 10.
This was a fun Top 10. Marvel Comics won the battle, DC Comics remained strong, and Image Comics got Transformers back into elite territory. That is a much healthier Top 10 than what we have seen in some recent months.
The Battle for the Top 25
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 11-25 range typically sell in the 65,000 to 50,000 unit range.
DC Comics took first place with twelve comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the fourteen comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as DC Comics had ten comics in the Top 25 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as DC Comics had three comics in the Top 25 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had six comics in the Top 25 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had nine comics in the Top 25 in April 2022.
DC Comics lost the Battle for the Top 10 but came roaring back to win the Battle for the Top 25. This is where DC Comics’ depth really shows up. Four of DC Comics’ twelve issues came from the Absolute Universe. Three of DC Comics’ issues came from the Batman franchise. Three issues came from the Justice League franchise. There was one issue apiece from Superman and Deathstroke.
That is a strong mix. Yes, the Absolute Universe and Batman Franchise are still doing most of the heavy lifting. But this is a more diverse selection of DC Comics in the Top 25 that we have seen in a long time.
The best news for DC Comics is that these Top 25 numbers are up across the board compared to April 2025, April 2024, April 2023, and April 2022. DC Comics is clearly in a much better place than it was during the Dawn of DC era. That cannot be ignored.
Marvel Comics placed ten comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were up from the seven comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had fourteen comics in the Top 25 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had seventeen comics in the Top 25 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had seventeen comics in the Top 25 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had fourteen comics in the Top 25 in April 2022.
This was a rebound for Marvel Comics compared to its humiliating performance in March 2026, but it was still down compared to every prior April in our comparison range. That is the real problem. Marvel Comics improved from a terrible March, but it still cannot get back to its historical Top 25 strength.
Marvel Comics’ Top 25 success came from Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men, Ultimate Wolverine, and Iron Man. Again, Spider-Man is doing most of the heavy lifting. Death Spiral gave Marvel Comics the event juice it needed, but the rest of the publisher’s line is not delivering the same kind of high-end power that Marvel Comics used to enjoy.
Image Comics placed three comics in the Top 25. Month-over-month sales were down from the four comics that Image Comics had in the Top 25 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had one comic in the Top 25 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as Image Comics had three comics in the Top 25 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as Image Comics had two comics in the Top 25 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as Image Comics had zero comics in the Top 25 in April 2022.
Invincible Universe Battle Beast #8 climbed from the number 18 spot to the number 11 spot. This is an amazing showing to see this title almost muscling its way back into the Top 10.
D’Orc #3 ticked up from the number 21 spot to the number 20 spot. This is also an impressive showing for this young title.
Image Comics is no longer just the Hasbro franchise and nothing else. Transformers remains the biggest weapon, but Invincible Universe Battle Beast and D’Orc also delivered Top 25 performances. That is a great sign for Image Comics.
The Battle for the Top 50
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 26-50 range typically sell in the 49,000 to 30,000 unit range.
Marvel Comics rallied and took first place with twenty-three comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the twenty-two comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 50 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had twenty-five comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-one comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had thirty-three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had twenty-nine comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Marvel Comics managed to win the Battle for the Top 50. But, again, this is not a clean win. Marvel Comics was up slightly from March 2026, but down from every April comparison point from 2025 through 2022.
That is the theme with Marvel Comics right now. It can still win certain parts of the sales chart. It can still lean on Spider-Man, X-Men, and a few other franchises to grind out victories. But the historical trend line is ugly. Marvel Comics had thirty-three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023. It had thirty-one comics in April 2024. Now it has twenty-three. That is a massive decline.
DC Comics placed nineteen comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were down from the twenty comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as DC Comics had twenty comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as DC Comics had nine comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had eleven comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had thirteen comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
DC Comics barely lost the Battle for the Top 50 by a 23-19 score. That is still a strong showing. Yes, DC Comics was down compared to March 2026 and April 2025. But DC Comics remains far ahead of its 2024, 2023, and 2022 numbers.
That is the important point. DC Comics has cooled off slightly from March 2026, but the publisher is still in a much stronger position than it was several years ago. The concern for DC Comics is that its Top 50 success is still heavily dependent on the Absolute Universe and Batman-adjacent material. DC Comics needs to keep developing more titles like Zatanna #1 and Fury of Firestorm #1 if it wants this momentum to become sustainable rather than just another temporary sales wave.
Image Comics placed seven comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were down from the eight comics that Image Comics had in the Top 50 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had three comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as Image Comics had six comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as Image Comics had three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as Image Comics had four comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
This was an excellent Top 50 performance for Image Comics. Yes, Image Comics was down slightly from March 2026, but seven comics in the Top 50 is still a strong number for this publisher.
Transformers #31, Invincible Universe Battle Beast #8, D’Orc #3, Corpse Knight #1, Fireborn #1, G.I. JOE #21, and Exquisite Corpses #12 all landed in the Top 50. That is a nice mix of licensed power, franchise strength, and original Image material.
The key takeaway is that Image Comics has more going on than just the Hasbro franchise, which has cooled off considerably. That matters. Image Comics cannot rely on the Hasbro franchise to carry everything. April 2026 shows that Image Comics has some actual depth in the Top 50.
IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 50. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 50 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were flat from four years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 50 in April 2022.
As usual, the sole IDW Publishing title in the Top 50 was from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Without the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, IDW Publishing has nothing capable of hitting a Top 50 ranking.
Marvel Comics wins the Battle for the Top 50, but this is not a dominant Marvel win. DC Comics is nipping on Marvel Comics’ heels, and Image Comics is unusually strong. That makes April 2026 a much more balanced sales chart than we usually see.
The Battle for the Top 75
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 51-75 range typically sell in the 29,000 to 25,000 unit range.
Marvel Comics placed thirty-four comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the thirty-three comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had thirty-nine comics in the Top 75 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-nine comics in the Top 75 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-nine comics in the Top 75 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had forty-two comics in the Top 75 in April 2022.
Marvel Comics wins the Battle for the Top 75, but the numbers continue to show how far Marvel Comics has fallen. Yes, Marvel Comics did better in the Top 75 than in March 2026, but it is way down compared to April 2024 and April 2023.
That is not a small decline. That is a collapse in chart depth. Marvel Comics still has enough franchise power to win this range, but the publisher no longer floods the Top 75 like it did in prior years.
DC Comics placed twenty-nine comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the thirty-two comics that DC Comics had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as DC Comics had twenty-seven comics in the Top 75 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as DC Comics had twelve comics in the Top 75 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had seventeen comics in the Top 75 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-one comics in the Top 75 in April 2022.
DC Comics took a month-over-month dip, but this is still an impressive result. The year-over-year and multi-year comparisons are excellent. DC Comics is far stronger in the Top 75 than it was in April 2024, April 2023, and April 2022.
DC Comics only lost the Battle for the Top 75 by a 34-29 score. That is a competitive fight. Marvel Comics used to crush DC Comics in this range. That is no longer the case. DC Comics has built enough depth to make Marvel Comics sweat.
Image Comics placed nine comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the eight comics that Image Comics had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had five comics in the Top 75 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as Image Comics had eight comics in the Top 75 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as Image Comics had six comics in the Top 75 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as Image Comics had six comics in the Top 75 in April 2022.
Image Comics continues to have a strong month. Nine comics in the Top 75 is an excellent number. This is better than March 2026, April 2025, April 2024, April 2023, and April 2022.
That is a big deal. Image Comics is not just surviving off one hot title. The publisher has multiple titles showing real chart strength. The overall depth is what makes this month impressive.
IDW Publishing placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were down from the two comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 75 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 75 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 75 in April 2023.
Numbers were flat from four years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 75 in April 2022.
BOOM! Studios placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that BOOM! Studios had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as BOOM! Studios had one comic in the Top 75 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as BOOM! Studios had one comic in the Top 75 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as BOOM! Studios had zero comics in the Top 75 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as BOOM! Studios had four comics in the Top 75 in April 2022.
Something is Killing the Children #46 took the number 51 spot. This title remains BOOM! Studios’ most reliable weapon. BOOM! continues to live and die by this franchise in the upper half of the sales chart.
Vault Comics placed one comic in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Vault Comics had in the Top 75 in March 2026.
Nectar #2 climbed from the number 104 spot to the number 71 spot. That is a nice showing for Vault Comics. Any time a small publisher can crack the Top 75, it is worth noticing.
The Battle for the Top 100
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, the titles in the numbers 76-100 range typically sell in the 24,000 to 18,000 unit range.
Marvel Comics placed forty-three comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the forty-two comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had forty-eight comics in the Top 100 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Marvel Comics had sixty-one comics in the Top 100 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as Marvel Comics had sixty-one comics in the Top 100 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had fifty comics in the Top 100 in April 2022.
Marvel Comics wins the Battle for the Top 100, but this is another ugly historical comparison. Marvel Comics had sixty-one comics in the Top 100 in April 2024 and April 2023. Now, Marvel Comics has forty-three. That is an eighteen-comic drop from those years.
That is stunning. Marvel Comics is still winning because the publisher has so many franchises and so much market presence. But Marvel Comics is no longer dominating the Top 100 the way it used to. The publisher’s depth has been gutted.
DC Comics placed thirty-eight comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were down from the forty-one comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as DC Comics had thirty-six comics in the Top 100 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as DC Comics had twenty comics in the Top 100 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as DC Comics had twenty-five comics in the Top 100 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as DC Comics had thirty-three comics in the Top 100 in April 2022.
DC Comics lost the Battle for the Top 100 by a 43-38 score. That is a narrow gap. Marvel Comics still wins, but DC Comics is close enough to make this a real fight.
This is the larger story. Marvel Comics is shrinking in the Top 100 while DC Comics is growing compared to prior years. DC Comics is down from March 2026, but it is still up compared to every April from 2022 through 2025. That is a strong trend line.
Image Comics placed fifteen comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the fourteen comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as Image Comics had ten comics in the Top 100 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as Image Comics had nine comics in the Top 100 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as Image Comics had nine comics in the Top 100 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as Image Comics had nine comics in the Top 100 in April 2022.
Image Comics had an excellent Top 100 showing. Fifteen comics in the Top 100 is a strong number for Image Comics and is better than every historical comparison point we are using. Image Comics should be happy with this result.
IDW Publishing placed two comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were flat from the two comics that IDW Publishing had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2024.
Numbers were flat from three years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2023.
Numbers were flat from four years ago, as IDW Publishing had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2022.
IDW Publishing is nothing if not consistent in this range. Two comics in the Top 100 is exactly where IDW Publishing has been in April across the past five years. That is stable, but it is not growing.
BOOM! Studios placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that BOOM! Studios had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as BOOM! Studios had one comic in the Top 100 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as BOOM! Studios had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as BOOM! Studios had two comics in the Top 100 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as BOOM! Studios had four comics in the Top 100 in April 2022.
Vault Comics placed one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Vault Comics had in the Top 100 in March 2026.
Nectar #2 took the number 71 spot. That is a good result for Vault Comics and one of the more interesting smaller-publisher performances in April 2026.
Marvel Comics won the Battle for the Top 100, but DC Comics kept it close, and Image Comics had a legitimately strong month. April 2026 was not a return to Marvel Comics dominance. It was a reminder that Marvel Comics is still the biggest publisher, but the rest of the market is taking up more room than it used to.
The Joshua Williamson Award For The Writer With The Most Titles In The Top 50
Four writers had two issues from different titles in the Top 50.
Mark Waid had two issues from different titles with DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 at the number 3 spot and Justice League Unlimited #18 at the number 38 spot.
Matt Fraction had two issues from different titles with DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 at the number 3 spot and Batman #8 at the number 13 spot.
Tom King had two issues from different titles with DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 at the number 3 spot and Wonder Woman #32 at the number 50 spot.
Jeff Lemire had two issues from different titles with Fury of Firestorm #1 at the number 15 spot and Absolute Flash #14 at the number 19 spot.
One writer had three issues from three different titles and from three different publishers in the Top 50.
Joshua Williamson had three issues from three different titles and from three different publishers, with Iron Man #4 at the number 25 spot, Superman #37 at the number 28 spot, and G.I. JOE #21 at the number 34 spot. Williamson is such a boss. This is exactly the type of performance that caused this award to be named after him in the first place.
However, two writers had four issues in the Top 50.
Gail Simone had four issues in the Top 50 with DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 at the number 3 spot, Uncanny X-Men #26 at the number 14 spot, Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 at the number 24 spot, and Uncanny X-Men #27 at the number 41 spot.
Joe Kelly had four issues in the Top 50 with Marvel DC – Spider-Man / Superman #1 at the number 1 spot, Amazing Spider-Man #26 at the number 5 spot, Amazing Spider-Man #27 at the number 7 spot, and The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #1 at the number 46 spot.
We have a tie! Therefore, we go to a tie-breaker. Simone averaged the number 21 spot with her four comics in the Top 50. Kelly averaged the number 15 spot with his four issues in the Top 50.
Therefore, the winner of the Joshua Williamson Award for April 2026 is…Joe Kelly!
Big Events
Death Spiral
5 Amazing Spider-Man #26 (Death Spiral)
7 Amazing Spider-Man #27 (Death Spiral)
27 Venom #257 (Death Spiral)
83 Amazing Spider-Man #25 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
91 Venom #256 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
140 Amazing Spider-Man #24 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
197 Amazing Spider-Man / Venom Death Spiral #1 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
Death Spiral had two comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10, worse in the Top 25, and worse in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when Death Spiral had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.
Death Spiral is a clear win for Marvel Comics. This event has given the Spider-Man franchise a much-needed shot in the arm. Marvel Comics has been struggling badly in the Top 10 over the past year, and Death Spiral gave Marvel two Top 10 comics in one month. That is the type of event performance Marvel Comics desperately needed.
The resolicitations are also worth noting. Amazing Spider-Man #25, Venom #256, Amazing Spider-Man #24, and Amazing Spider-Man / Venom Death Spiral #1 all charted again in April. That is a strong sign that Death Spiral has generated enough reader interest to keep prior issues moving.
This is exactly how a big event is supposed to work. Death Spiral boosted the main Amazing Spider-Man title, gave Venom a badly needed jolt, and generated enough heat for prior issues to keep charting. This is Marvel Comics’ cleanest event win in a while.
The Reign of the Superboys
28 Superman #37 (The Reign of the Superboys)
63 Supergirl #12 (The Reign of the Superboys)
66 Action Comics #1097 (The Reign of the Superboys)
74 Superman Unlimited #12 (The Reign of the Superboys)
The Reign of the Superboys had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.
The Reign of the Superboys was useful. It helped the Superman franchise. It moved every participating title in the right direction. That is the good news.
The bad news is that this event did not produce any Top 25 sellers. It only produced one Top 50 seller. That means this was not a breakout event. This was not Death Spiral. This was more of a maintenance event that helped stabilize a Superman franchise that still lacks enough raw sales power outside of the Marvel/DC crossover and the Absolute Universe.
DC K.O.
38 Justice League Unlimited #18 (DC K.O.)
195 DC K.O. #5 (Of 5) (Resolicitation)
DC K.O. had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was worse than March 2026, when DC K.O. had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.
DC K.O. was a massive hit for DC Comics during its lifecycle. It gave DC Comics multiple Top 10 and Top 25 performances and helped power DC’s impressive sales surge over the past several months. DC Comics now has to answer the big question: what comes next?
Hasbro Franchise
10 Transformers #31
34 G.I. JOE #21
77 Void Rivals #29
109 G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #327
118 G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions Crimson Guard #1
122 G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions Zartan #1
152 G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions Copperhead #1
179 G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions Firefly #1
Unranked: G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions Baroness #1
Unranked: G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #14 Hama Files Edition
The Hasbro franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Hasbro franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were better in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50, as the Hasbro franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat in the Top 10, down in the Top 25, and down in the Top 50 from two years ago, as the Hasbro franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Transformers #31 climbed from the number 15 spot to the number 10 spot. Transformers remains the unquestioned king of the Hasbro franchise. This title has cooled off from the absolute sales beast it was back in 2024, but it is still capable of punching its way into the Top 10. That is massive for Image Comics.
G.I. JOE #21 climbed from the number 38 spot to the number 34 spot. That is a good result. This title is not the elite seller that Transformers is, but it continues to be a reliable Top 50 title. Image Comics certainly has done far better with the G.I. JOE license than IDW Publishing ever managed to do.
Void Rivals #29 climbed from the number 96 spot to the number 77 spot. This is a nice rebound. However, this title is still a long way away from where it was earlier in its run. Void Rivals is no longer a real sales engine for the Hasbro franchise. This title is now more of a supporting player.
G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #327 climbed from the number 110 spot to the number 109 spot. This title continues to live right around the Dead Titles Walking line. Larry Hama’s G.I. JOE has a loyal audience, but it is clearly a small one.
The G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Sssilent Missions one-shots were a mess. Crimson Guard #1 took the number 118 spot. Zartan #1 took the number 122 spot. Copperhead #1 took the number 152 spot. Firefly #1 took the number 179 spot. Baroness #1 failed to make the Top 200 and went unranked.
That is brutal. Image Comics flooded the market with these Sssilent Missions one-shots, and the market responded with a shrug. These issues failed to strengthen the Hasbro franchise.
G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #14 Hama Files Edition was unranked. Nobody should be surprised by that since this title is just a collection of reprints of the old Marvel Comics G.I. Joe title from the 1980s.
The Hasbro franchise remains in good shape at the top because Transformers is still a monster and G.I. JOE is still a reliable Top 50 title. But underneath those two titles, things get ugly fast. Void Rivals is fading, A Real American Hero is stuck around the Dead Titles Walking line, and the Sssilent Missions one-shots were mostly dead on arrival.
Spawn Franchise
73 Spawn #374
80 Spawn: Scorched #50
151 King Spawn #54
157 Spawn: The Dark Ages #5 (Of 6)
189 Spawn: The Curse of Sherlee Johnson #5
Unranked: Gunslinger Spawn #53
Unranked: Rat City #24
Unranked: Spawn Sam and Twitch Case Files #23
The Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to March 2026, when the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were worse, as the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were worse from two years ago, as the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were worse from three years ago, as the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were worse from four years ago, as the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Spawn #374 climbed from the number 90 spot to the number 73 spot. This is a nice rebound for the flagship Spawn title.
King Spawn #54 climbed from the number 200 spot to the number 151 spot. That is a big jump, but only because King Spawn #53 barely clung to the final spot in the Top 200 in March 2026. This title remains a Dead Title Walking comic.
Spawn: The Dark Ages #5 climbed from the number 193 spot to the number 157 spot. Again, this is technically an improvement, but it is still a bad sales ranking. This six-issue mini-series is limping toward the finish line.
Let’s check out the ladies of the Spawn franchise.
Spawn: The Curse of Sherlee Johnson #5 fell from the number 182 spot to the number 189 spot. This title is almost out of the Top 200. That is not surprising. It has been stuck in the Dead Titles Walking category for months.
Spawn: Scorched #50 climbed back into the Top 200 after going unranked in March 2026. Spawn: Scorched #50 rocketed up to the number 80 spot. That is a phenomenal rebound! Maybe the milestone issue helped. Whatever the reason, this is the best non-flagship title Spawn performance in April 2026.
Gunslinger Spawn #53 was unranked for the third straight month.
Spawn Rat City #24 was unranked for the eleventh straight month. At some point, Erica Schultz is going to have to be replaced on this title if there is any hope of creating some reader interest in this title.
Spawn Sam and Twitch Case Files #23 was unranked for the eleventh consecutive month. Surprisingly, this title is still being published.
Todd McFarlane keeps flooding the market with Spawn titles, but readers are not following most of them. Spawn #374 and Spawn: Scorched #50 gave the franchise two decent results in April 2026. Everything else was a Dead Title Walking.
The Spawn franchise still has name value. It still has a loyal core audience. But this line has become a bloated franchise with one decent flagship title, one milestone bump from Scorched, and a pile of spin-offs that look like they are being kept alive more by stubbornness than by actual market demand.
Ghost Machine Titles
90 Redcoat #17
Unranked: Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1
Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to March 2026, when Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat from two years ago, as Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Redcoat #17 returned to the Top 200 and took the number 90 spot after Redcoat #16 went unranked in March 2026. Redcoat getting back into the Top 100 is a positive sign for the Ghost Machine line.
Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1 was unranked. That is not surprising. Guidebook issues are always a tough sell. However, it also shows that there is not a large enough hardcore Ghost Machine fanbase to push even ancillary universe-building material into the Top 200.
Ghost Machine remains a fringe player in the sales rankings. There is no Top 50 presence, no real chart pressure, and no title that looks capable of breaking out in this market. Redcoat managed to get back into the Top 100, but that is the only good news for Ghost Machine in April 2026.
I still like the idea of Ghost Machine. There’s that Rokk Kiss of Death, again. The creators involved are big names, and the shared-universe approach gives Image Comics something different from its normal collection of isolated creator-owned titles. But the sales rankings are what they are. Ghost Machine has not turned into a must-buy line. Right now, it looks like a niche imprint with a loyal but limited audience.
Godzilla Franchise
85 Godzilla Infinity Roar #3 (Marvel Comics)
96 Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents Romeo & Juliet & Godzilla (IDW Publishing)
192 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Godzilla #5 (IDW Publishing) (Resolicitation)
Unranked: Godzilla #9 (IDW Publishing)
The Godzilla franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to March 2026, when the Godzilla franchise had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were worse compared to April 2025, as the Godzilla franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Godzilla Infinity Roar #3 climbed from the number 121 spot to the number 85 spot. That is a solid rebound. This title had a brutal collapse in March 2026 when Godzilla Infinity Roar #2 crashed from the number 40 spot down to the number 121 spot. So, seeing issue #3 climb back into the Top 100 is good news for this five-issue mini-series.
Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents Romeo & Juliet & Godzilla had a weak debut at the number 96 spot. I appreciate the complete insanity of the concept. But the market clearly did not go crazy for this one.
Godzilla #9 fell from the number 187 spot and out of the rankings to end up unranked. This is just embarrassing for IDW Publishing.
The Godzilla franchise continues to be a massive missed opportunity. This is Godzilla. This is one of the most recognizable monsters in pop culture history. This franchise has had multiple hit movies in the theaters and a streaming show on Apple TV. There is no excuse for this franchise to be stuck in the lower half of the Top 100 or barely hanging onto the back end of the Top 200.
Marvel Comics has done better with Godzilla than IDW Publishing, but that is clearing a very low bar. Godzilla Infinity Roar is not a hit. It is simply the best-performing Godzilla title in a weak field.
IDW Publishing continues to get almost nothing out of the Godzilla license. The Godzilla franchise should be much stronger than this. Instead, it remains a line with a recognizable name, a giant monster, and shockingly little sales heat.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Franchise
39 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #17
142 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder #7
192 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Godzilla #5 (Resolicitation)
Unranked: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Casey Jones #6
Unranked: TMNT: Journeys #8
Unranked: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5
Unranked: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #36
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was better than March 2026, when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50, as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #17 climbed from the number 73 spot to the number 39 spot. That is an excellent rebound for the main TMNT title. This title got knocked out of the Top 50 in March 2026, so it was important for IDW Publishing to get the franchise’s flagship title back into the Top 50 in April.
That is the good news. The bad news is that this is still the only TMNT title that matters in the sales rankings. IDW Publishing continues to have one reliable Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic and then a whole lot of nothing behind it.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder #7 came in at the number 142 spot after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder #6 was unranked in March 2026.
TMNT: Journeys #8 was unranked, like it has been since the start.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5 was unranked for a second straight month.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #36 was unranked for the zillionth month.
IDW Publishing continues to have zero success with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise outside of the franchise’s flagship title. This franchise should have more depth. TMNT is too big a license for the main title to be the only reliable seller.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remains IDW Publishing’s most important franchise. Unfortunately, IDW still has not figured out how to turn that franchise into anything more than one main title with occasional flashes from side projects. This is what we have come to expect from IDW Publishing with any of their licensed properties.
Star Trek Franchise
Unranked: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact #1
Unranked: Star Trek: Lower Decks #18
The Star Trek franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to March 2026, when the Star Trek franchise had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as the Star Trek franchise had zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact #1 had a brutal debut, failing to make the Top 200 and going unranked.
Star Trek: Lower Decks #18 was unranked after Star Trek: Lower Decks #17 was also unranked in March 2026.
The Star Trek franchise is a complete disaster. I have never been a Star Trek fan, so I cannot intelligently comment on what its core fanbase wants or does not want in terms of content. But what I can say is that the sales rankings are screaming that whatever IDW Publishing is doing with this license is not working. Star Trek is too big a brand to be this irrelevant in the direct market.
IDW Publishing continues to have no clue as to what to do with the franchise. Of course, it does not help that Warner Bros. Discovery has done its best to drive fans away from the Star Trek franchise in large numbers. Perhaps the sale to Paramount Skydance will open the door for a revival of the Star Trek franchise and help return the fanbase that has fled this franchise.
Of course, that will still require IDW Publishing to do its job. That has proven next to impossible with their bungling of every licensed property that they have gotten their hands on over the years.
Star Wars Franchise
37 Star Wars Shadow of Maul #2
72 Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire #1
The Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was worse in the Top 25 and flat in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
The Star Wars franchise continues to be an absolute shell of what it used to be in the direct market. This franchise used to be a consistent Top 50 player with multiple titles. Now, Marvel Comics is thrilled if one Star Wars title can stay in the Top 50.
Star Wars Shadow of Maul #2 fell from the number 24 spot to the number 37 spot. That is not a horrible drop. This title is still in the Top 50, which, given the state of the Star Wars franchise over the past few years, is flat-out amazing. Hat tip to my boy Benjamin Percy.
Having said all of that, this title still immediately lost its Top 25 status after just one issue. That is the problem. Even Darth Maul can only generate so much heat for this battered franchise. I would expect to see this title outside of the Top 50 with the next issue.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire #1 debuted at the number 72 spot. That is not good. This is a number one issue, and it could not even crack the Top 50. A Star Wars #1 issue landing outside the Top 50 tells you everything about how weak this franchise has become. This five-issue mini-series from Ethan Sacks seems destined for the Dead Titles Walking category with just the second issue.
The purpose of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire is to resuscitate the failed framing of the Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World and the twin-sister version of this land in Disneyland. When Kathleen Kennedy wasn’t busy driving the Star Wars franchise into the ground with failed movies and TV shows, she also managed to completely screw up the Star Wars lands in the two Disney parks.
Kennedy insisted that Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge be set on Batuu, a random planet no Star Wars fan had ever heard of before. Kennedy also insisted that the Star Wars lands be placed during the timeline between the Disney sequel movies, specifically between Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, and character appearances be limited to the characters in the Disney sequel movies.
Both were disastrous decisions. Disney Park visitors wanted to visit a planet they knew and loved like…Oh, I don’t know…maybe Tatooine? Star Wars fans also wanted to see the popular characters that they knew and loved, like Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia. Instead, parkgoers were given the unpopular Disney sequel characters from the movies that underperformed in theaters with each movie. The same movies that have gone on to get the lowest streaming numbers of all the Star Wars movies, according to data released this year on May the Fourth.
With Kennedy gone and a new Disney CEO in Josh D’Amaro, who used to head the Disney Parks division, we now see Disney in a mad scramble to pump up interest in these two Star Wars lands. That is a great idea for the Disney Parks. But, in terms of generating interest in a Star Wars comic, it may be too little too late, as readers do not seem interested in much from Star Wars over the past few years.
The Star Wars franchise continues to be a Ferrari that was bought by a redneck and then turned into a demolition derby car. Marvel Comics still has one of the biggest pop culture brands in history, and it can barely get one title into the Top 50. This is a franchise stuck in survival mode.
Spider-Man Franchise
1 Marvel DC – Spider-Man / Superman #1 (One-Shot)
3 DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 (One-Shot) (Resolicitation)
5 Amazing Spider-Man #26 (Death Spiral)
7 Amazing Spider-Man #27 (Death Spiral)
8 Web of Venom #1
27 Venom #257 (Death Spiral)
44 Black Cat #9
46 Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Versity #1

83 Amazing Spider-Man #25 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
91 Venom #256 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
124 Spider-Man Noir Facsimile Edition #1
140 Amazing Spider-Man #24 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
197 Amazing Spider-Man / Venom Death Spiral #1 (Death Spiral) (Resolicitation)
The Spider-Man franchise had five comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50. This was better than March 2026, when the Spider-Man franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were up, as the Spider-Man franchise had four comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were up in the Top 10 and Top 50, but flat in the Top 25 from two years ago, as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were up in the Top 10, but flat in the Top 25 and Top 50 from three years ago, as the Spider-Man franchise had four comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Now this is more like it. The Spider-Man franchise absolutely owned April 2026. Five comics in the Top 10 is an insane showing. Eight comics in the Top 50 is excellent. This is the type of chart domination that Spider-Man used to deliver on a regular basis.
Marvel Comics desperately needed this. The publisher has been getting humiliated in the Top 10 far too often lately. Well, when in doubt, toss Peter Parker into the ring and let him carry the entire company on his back like always.
Marvel DC – Spider-Man / Superman #1 had a monster debut at the number 1 spot. No surprise. Spider-Man and Superman together are always going to move copies. That is comic book royalty.
Amazing Spider-Man #26 shot up from the number 14 spot to the number 5 spot. That is a fantastic result. Death Spiral clearly gave Amazing Spider-Man a major boost. Amazing Spider-Man #27 then dipped to the number 7 spot. That is still an excellent showing. Getting two issues of the same title into the Top 10 in the same month is incredibly difficult. Peter Parker made it look easy.
Web of Venom #1 had a fantastic debut at the number 8 spot. This is an insane ranking for this one-shot issue!! Wow. I did not see this one coming at all.
Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Versity #1 had a solid debut at the number 46 spot. I am not wild about that ranking for a Spider-Man-related number one issue, but it still managed to crack the Top 50. This five-issue limited series will certainly be outside of the Top 50 with the next issue. The question is whether this mini-series can remain in the Top 75 next month.
Let’s slide over to the Venomverse.
Venom #257 climbed from the number 34 spot to the number 27 spot. That is a good result. Death Spiral has clearly helped stabilize Venom and push it back toward the Top 25. Venom has been an uneven seller lately, so Marvel Comics has to be happy with this movement.
Knull #4 climbed from the number 98 spot to the number 60 spot. That is a nice rebound. This mini-series looked like it was falling apart after Knull #3 cratered in March 2026. Knull #4 getting back near the Top 50 is a pleasant surprise.
Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Spider-Man franchise.
Black Cat #9 climbed from the number 56 spot to the number 44 spot. That is a nice rebound. Black Cat fell out of the Top 50 in March 2026, so getting back into the Top 50 in April is a good sign. This title has been one of the more pleasant surprises in the Spider-Man franchise. Black Cat is not a monster seller, but it continues to show more life than plenty of other Marvel titles.
The Spider-Man franchise carried Marvel Comics in April 2026. Death Spiral was a hit. Amazing Spider-Man was strong. Web of Venom had a great debut. Black Cat rebounded. Knull improved. The Marvel/DC crossover gave Spider-Man the number 1 spot. This was a monster month.
The caution sign is that this was also an incredibly Peter Parker-heavy performance. Of course, this is no surprise. Peter Parker is Marvel Comics’ biggest gun for a reason. But it does highlight how much of Marvel’s sales strength depends on one character. When Peter is hot, Marvel Comics looks strong. When Peter cools off, Marvel Comics gets exposed in a hurry.
For April 2026, though, Spider-Man was the king of the sales chart. Marvel Comics should enjoy it. They do not get many months this clean anymore.

The X-Men franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50. This was better than March 2026, when the X-Men franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as the X-Men franchise had three comics in the Top 10, seven comics in the Top 25, and eleven comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down in the Top and in the Top 25, but up in the Top 50 from four years ago, as the X-Men franchise had two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
This was a better month for the X-Men franchise compared to March 2026. That is the good news. The bad news is that the X-Men franchise is still nowhere close to where it was in 2024 and 2025. There is no Top 10 power here. None. That is insane for the X-Men franchise.
Marvel Comics flooded the market with X-books in April 2026, and the result was volume without elite sales strength. Four comics in the Top 25 and eight comics in the Top 50 is solid. But this franchise used to be a monster. The X-Men used to be one of Marvel’s safest bets for high-end sales power. Now, the line is bloated, scattered, and struggling to create any real heat outside of launch gimmicks and a few familiar characters.
Let’s kick things off with the team titles.
Uncanny X-Men #26 shot up from the number 54 spot to the number 14 spot. That is a fantastic rebound. Uncanny X-Men #27 then dropped to the number 41 spot. It is normal when a title ships two issues in the same month for the second issue to have a bit of a sales drop. But, like we see with Amazing Spider-Man, if the title is a strong seller, that drop will be small. Uncanny X-Men is no longer a monster seller. As a result, the drop between the two issues was large.
Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 had a strong debut at the number 24 spot. That is a good number for an annual. Marvel Comics has to be happy with that result. Annuals can often be easy skips for readers, so cracking the Top 25 is a nice win.
X-Men United #2 fell from the number 11 spot to the number 22 spot. That is not a terrible drop, but it does show that this title immediately lost its near-Top 10 launch heat. I still do not believe in this title’s long-term sales prospects. We will see if X-Men United can remain in the Top 50 over the next few issues.
Inglorious X-Force #4 climbed from the number 125 spot to the number 81 spot. That is a nice rebound, but this title is still outside of the Top 75. Inglorious X-Force is not a hit. This is merely a title going from terrible to mediocre for one month.
Let’s check out the one duo title.
Magik & Colossus #3 climbed from the number 60 spot to the number 49 spot. This title managed to crawl back into the Top 50. That is good news. Still, this title debuted at the number 24 spot and immediately cratered to number 60 with the second issue. Getting back to number 49 is nice to see.
Let’s hop over to the dudes of the X-Men franchise.
Wolverine #18 climbed from the number 51 spot to the number 33 spot. Wolverine #19 then dropped to the number 57 spot. Logan’s flagship title should never be selling outside of the Top 25.
Wolverine Weapons of Armageddon #3 climbed from the number 67 spot to the number 65 spot. That is basically flat. This four-issue mini-series from Chip Zdarsky is stuck in the same general range after its ugly second-issue drop. It is not a disaster, but it is also not the kind of performance Marvel Comics likely wanted from a Wolverine-branded Armageddon title.
Wade Wilson Deadpool #3 dropped from the number 52 spot to the number 58 spot. That is not a horrible drop, but this title is clearly outside of the Top 50 now. Wade Wilson Deadpool #1 debuted at the number 13 spot. Two issues later, it is sitting at number 58. That is a lot of reader attrition in a hurry.
Cyclops #3 held steady at the number 40 spot. Cyclops #2 also took the number 40 spot in March 2026. That is a pleasant surprise. I expected this title to fall out of the Top 50 with this issue. Instead, Cyclops held its ground. I still do not trust this five-issue mini-series over the next two issues, but credit where it is due: Cyclops #3 did not collapse.
Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the X-Men franchise.
Rogue #4 climbed from the number 80 spot to the number 59 spot. That is a nice rebound. This four-issue mini-series concluded better than expected after cratering with issue #3. Still, Rogue #1 debuted at the number 23 spot, and this title never got close to that level again. This mini-series was not a hit. It merely avoided ending in complete embarrassment.
Psylocke Ninja #4 climbed from the number 92 spot to the number 69 spot. That is a good rebound. However, this title debuted at the number 15 spot. Issue #4 sitting at number 69 is still ugly. This five-issue mini-series lost a ton of readers after its debut.
Storm Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3 climbed from the number 84 spot to the number 76 spot. That is a small improvement. However, this title debuted at the number 35 spot just two months ago. Now it cannot even crack the Top 75. Marvel Comics pulled the same tired cancel-and-relaunch trick with Storm, kept the same writer, and got the same predictable sales decline. Nobody should be surprised.
Moonstar #2 fell from the number 72 spot to the number 86 spot. That is not good. Moonstar #1 already had a weak debut, and issue #2 immediately dropped outside of the Top 75. This five-issue mini-series looks like another Ashley Allen title headed toward the Dead Titles Walking category.
Generation X-23 #3 fell from the number 103 spot to the number 107 spot. This title is dead. Generation X-23 #1 debuted at the number 38 spot. Two issues later, it is buried in the Dead Titles Walking range. That is a total sales collapse. This is what happens when Marvel Comics keeps hiring writers like Jody Houser who have no track record of sales success in mainstream superhero comics.
The X-Men franchise remains one of Marvel Comics’ biggest cautionary tales. The volume is there. Marvel Comics can shove a mountain of X-books into the market every month. But volume is not the same thing as strength.
The X-Men franchise had eight comics in the Top 50, and that sounds good on paper. But there were zero comics in the Top 10 and only three comics in the Top 25. This is from a storied franchise that flooded the market with a whopping sixteen new X-Men franchise comics in April.
Marvel Comics has too many X-books, too many weak mini-series, and too many titles that are selling off debut heat before collapsing. The X-Men should be one of Marvel’s strongest franchises. Instead, it is turning into a cautionary tale about overproduction and poor editorial decision-making.
Avengers Franchise
25 Iron Man #4
30 Captain America #9
32 Infernal Hulk #6
55 Captain America #10
61 Mortal Thor #9
93 Sentry #2
136 Planet She-Hulk #6
149 Captain Marvel Dark Past #1 (Resolicitation)
165 Hulk Smash Everything #5
183 Wonder Man #2
Unranked: Marvel Rivals: Duel of Kings #1
The Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, better in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat, as the Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Avengers franchise had two comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
The Avengers franchise had a better month than March 2026, but that is not saying much. This franchise finally got one comic into the Top 25, but there is still no Top 10 power at all. That remains unacceptable for a franchise with the Avengers name.
There were no team titles this month, so we will start with the dudes of the Avengers franchise.
Iron Man #4 climbed from the number 42 spot to the number 25 spot. That is a fantastic rebound. Joshua Williamson finally got Mr. Emma Frost into the Top 25 for the first time since the debut issue took the number 14 spot.
Marvel Comics had to be thrilled with this result. Iron Man has been a damaged brand for years, thanks to Marvel Comics’ endless character assassination, but Williamson is at least giving this title some badly needed sales stability.
Captain America #9 climbed from the number 35 spot to the number 30 spot. Captain America #10 then dropped to the number 55 spot. This title continues to be more of a mid-level seller than a top-tier franchise book.
Infernal Hulk #6 climbed from the number 43 spot to the number 32 spot. That is a good result. Infernal Hulk has been uneven, but this was a solid rebound and kept the title comfortably inside the Top 50.
Hulk Smash Everything #5 made it back into the Top 200 at the number 165 spot after Hulk Smash Everything #4 was unranked in March 2026. That is technically a rebound, but let’s not pretend this is good. This five-issue mini-series ended as Dead Titles Walking material and was a sales disaster.
Mortal Thor #9 climbed from the number 106 spot to the number 61 spot. That is a huge rebound. This title was buried in the Dead Titles Walking category in March 2026, so jumping all the way up to number 61 is a nice surprise. Still, this title remains a massive disappointment overall. A Thor title should not need a rebound just to get back in the Top 75.
Sentry #2 fell from the number 75 spot to the number 93 spot. That is not good. Sentry #1 already had a soft debut, and issue #2 immediately slid closer to the Dead Titles Walking category. This four-issue mini-series is not generating any meaningful sales heat.
Wonder Man #2 dropped from the number 114 spot to the number 183 spot. Woof. Wonder Man #1 had an awful debut in March 2026, and issue #2 cratered even further. This title is dead. This five-issue mini-series is going to struggle to remain ranked in the Top 200 next month. Marvel Comics can keep pretending there is comic book synergy with Disney+ shows, but the sales chart keeps laughing in their face.
Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Avengers franchise.
Planet She-Hulk #6 fell from the number 131 spot to the number 136 spot. With this issue, this six-issue mini-series has concluded. And this title did so exactly where Stephanie Phillips’ titles always end up: buried in the Dead Titles Walking category.
Planet She-Hulk #1 debuted at the number 24 spot. This mini-series was out of the Top 50 by just the second issue. This title fell out of the Top 75 by just the third issue. Then this mini-series became a Dead Title Walking by the fifth issue. That is a collapse. Marvel Comics has to stop pretending that these titles with weak writers are going to magically work.
Fantastic Four Franchise
78 Doom 2099 Rage Of Doom #1
120 Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four #3
The Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was worse than March 2026, when the Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were worse, as the Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were worse from two years ago based on a manual count from the April 2024 article, as the Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Doom 2099 Rage Of Doom #1 had a weak debut at the number 78 spot. This was a mediocre sales ranking for this one-shot issue.
Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four #3 climbed from the number 154 spot to the number 120 spot. That is technically an improvement, but it is still mired in the Dead Titles Walking category. This title debuted at the number 72 spot, cratered to number 154 with the second issue, and now sits at number 120. This crossover is still Dead Titles Walking material. Josh Trujillo’s mainstream superhero comic book sales record remains exactly what we thought it was.
The Ultimate Universe
16 Ultimate Wolverine #16
48 Ultimates #23
128 Ultimate Endgame #3 (Resolicitation)
The Ultimate Universe had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10 and Top 25, but worse in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Ultimate Universe had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as the Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as the Ultimate Universe had three comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Ultimate Wolverine #16 climbed from the number 29 spot to the number 16 spot. That is an excellent rebound. This final issue gave Ultimate Wolverine a strong finish in the Top 25.
Ultimates #23 fell from the number 28 spot to the number 48 spot. Yikes. This title is barely hanging onto the Top 50 now. That is a long way away from when Ultimates was one of Marvel Comics’ hottest titles. Ultimates #22 had a nice rebound in March 2026, but that momentum vanished immediately. This is a rough result for a title that used to be a reliable Top 10 seller. We shall see how the final issue of Ultimates performs next month.
Batman Franchise
13 Batman #8 (Resolicitation)
17 Batman Wonder Woman Truth #1 (One-Shot)
21 Batwoman #2
45 Detective Comics #1108
47 Nightwing #137
56 Sirens Love Hurts #3 (Of 4) (Mature)
95 Harley Quinn #61
97 Batman Superman World’s Finest #50 (Resolicitation)
102 Catwoman #86
130 DC Marvel – Batman / Deadpool One-Shot #1 (Resolicitation)
134 Batman #7 (Resolicitation)
137 Harley and Ivy Life and Crimes #5 (Of 6)
148 Batwoman #1 (Resolicitation)
184 Poison Ivy #43 (Resolicitation)
185 Batman The Dark Knight Returns #3 Facsimile Edition (Of 4)
187 Detective Comics #1107 (Resolicitation)
The Batman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse in the Top 10, worse in the Top 25, but better in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down as the Batman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat in the Top 10, up in the Top 25, and down in the Top 50 from two years ago, as the Batman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down from three years ago, as the Batman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as the Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, seven comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Let’s start with the Bruce Wayne titles.
Batman Wonder Woman Truth #1 had a strong debut at the number 17 spot. That is a good number for a one-shot issue. Of course, putting Batman and Wonder Woman together should always move copies. This is not rocket science. DC Comics should do more of this and less weird nonsense that nobody is asking for. Also, old man Jeph Loeb shows that he still has that sales magic in him.
Detective Comics #1108 climbed from the number 59 spot to the number 45 spot. That is a nice rebound and finally gets Detective Comics back into the Top 50. This title has been struggling far too much over the past several months. Detective Comics should be a reliable Top 50 seller every month.
Batman did not ship a new issue in April 2026. However, the resolicitation of Batman #8 still managed to score the number 13 spot. That is an insane ranking for a resolicited issue. The power of Bruce Wayne is unrivaled.
Let’s check out the sole Bat-boy title.
Nightwing #137 climbed from the number 63 spot to the number 47 spot. This is a good rebound and gets Nightwing back into the Top 50. DC Comics badly needs Dick Grayson to be a consistent Top 50 seller. Nightwing remains DC’s best non-Bruce Wayne Batman franchise asset.
Let’s conclude with the ladies of the Batman franchise.
Batwoman #2 fell from the number 13 spot to the number 21 spot. That is a good second-issue hold. I still do not believe in this title long-term. Batwoman has never been a consistent sales force. However, this is a better second-issue ranking than I expected. Credit where it is due.
Sirens Love Hurts #3 climbed from the number 88 spot to the number 56 spot. That is a surprisingly good rebound. We shall see where this four-issue mini-series is able to conclude next month.
Harley Quinn #61 ticked down from the number 94 spot to the number 95 spot. This title is still hanging just outside the Dead Titles Walking category. Harley Quinn should sell better than this. She has massive mainstream awareness. Yet, DC Comics continues to have trouble turning that popularity into strong direct-market comic sales.
Catwoman #86 climbed from the number 130 spot to the number 102 spot. That is a rebound, but this title is still Dead Titles Walking material. Catwoman should never be selling this badly. Torunn Grønbekk has been a disaster on this title. DC Comics has to stop acting like this is acceptable.
Harley and Ivy Life and Crimes #5 climbed from the number 153 spot to the number 137 spot. This title remains buried in the Dead Titles Walking category. DC Comics bizarre editorial decision to hire Erica Henderson for a mainstream superhero comic book continues to be a predictable sales failure.
Superman Franchise
Marvel DC – Spider-Man / Superman #1 (One-Shot)
3 DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 (One-Shot) (Resolicitation)
28 Superman #37 (The Reign of the Superboys)
63 Supergirl #12 (The Reign of the Superboys)
66 Action Comics #1097 (The Reign of the Superboys)
74 Superman Unlimited #12 (The Reign of the Superboys)
97 Batman Superman World’s Finest #50 (Resolicitation)
121 Bizarro Year None #1 (Of 4)
141 Superman #36 (Resolicitation)
The Superman franchise had two comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10, Top 25, and Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were up in the Top 10 and Top 25, and flat in the Top 50, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were up in the Top 10 and Top 25, but flat in the Top 50 from three years ago, as the Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
The Superman franchise had a good April 2026. Of course, this performance comes with a giant asterisk. The Marvel/DC crossover did a massive amount of the heavy lifting. Marvel DC – Spider-Man / Superman #1 took the number 1 spot, while DC Marvel – Superman / Spider-Man #1 took the number 3 spot. That gives the Superman franchise two Top 10 comics right out of the gate.
That is great. But it is also not a normal Superman franchise performance. Putting Superman and Spider-Man together is comic book cheat code material. That should always sell.
Let’s move over to The Reign of the Superboys.
Superman #37 climbed from the number 31 spot to the number 28 spot. That is a modest improvement. The main Superman title got a little bump from The Reign of the Superboys, but not enough to push it into the Top 25. That is disappointing. Superman should be a reliable Top 25 seller. Period.
Supergirl #12 climbed from the number 71 spot to the number 63 spot. That is a positive movement, but this title is still stuck in the middle of the chart. The Reign of the Superboys helped, but it did not magically turn Supergirl into a Top 50 seller.
Action Comics #1097 climbed from the number 89 spot to the number 66 spot. This was the best movement from The Reign of the Superboys. Action Comics badly needed this sales bump. Of course, the fact that Action Comics needed a crossover event just to climb back into the Top 75 is ridiculous. This is one of DC Comics’ flagship titles. It should not be selling like a random mid-tier spin-off.
Superman Unlimited #12 climbed from the number 85 spot to the number 74 spot. Again, this is a nice improvement, but this title still has not become the sales force DC Comics likely hoped it would be. Superman Unlimited should not be fighting just to stay inside the Top 75.
Bizarro Year None #1 had a horrendous debut at the number 121 spot. This four-issue mini-series is a Dead Title Walking right out of the gate. This is a Kevin Smith title and another example of Smith having lost whatever sales power he used to have decades ago.
The Superman franchise had a strong top-line performance in April 2026 because of the Marvel/DC crossover. But once you move past the crossover, things get much more ordinary.
The Reign of the Superboys was useful. It moved Superman, Supergirl, Action Comics, and Superman Unlimited in the right direction. That is good. But the event only produced one Top 50 comic and zero Top 25 comics. That is not a breakout performance.
The Superman franchise is in a better place than it was in 2024 and 2022. But it still does not feel like a dominant franchise outside of special-event gimmicks and crossovers.
Justice League Franchise
9 Zatanna #1
12 Lobo #2
15 Fury of Firestorm #1
17 Batman Wonder Woman Truth #1 (One-Shot)
38 Justice League Unlimited #18 (DC K.O.)
50 Wonder Woman #32
82 The Flash #32
87 Green Lantern #34
88 Emperor Aquaman #16
89 Justice League Intergalactic Special #1 (One-Shot)
101 Lobo #1 (Resolicitation)
103 Green Lantern Corps #15
166 New History of the DC Universe The Dakota Incident #1 (One-Shot) (Resolicitation)
181 Justice League Unlimited #17 (Resolicitation)
Unranked: JSA #18
The Justice League franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10, Top 25, and Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down in the Top 10, Top 25, and Top 50, as the Justice League franchise had three comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were up from two years ago, as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were up from three years ago, as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were up from four years ago, as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Let’s start with the team titles.
Justice League Unlimited #18 climbed from the number 45 spot to the number 38 spot. That is a good result. The DC K.O. tie-in helped this title return to a stronger Top 50 position. Justice League Unlimited is not the monster seller that it probably should be, but keeping this title inside the Top 50 is still important for DC Comics.
Justice League Intergalactic Special #1 had an awful debut at the number 89 spot. Gross. A Justice League one-shot should never be narrowly avoiding the Dead Titles Walking category.
This is another side project that makes you question the decision-making of DC Comics’ editorial staff. The writers for this title are Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines. Neither are superhero comic book writers. Both “writers” have a history of brutally awful sales numbers. Why DC Comics continues to hire writers like this is the definition of insanity. It makes no sense from a business standpoint.
JSA #18 fell from the number 132 spot and out of the Top 200 rankings to end up unranked. Readers have no interest in this version of the JSA.
Let’s hop over to the dudes of the Justice League franchise.
Lobo #2 dipped from the number 7 spot to the number 12 spot. That is an excellent second-issue hold. Lobo #1 had a strong debut in March 2026, and Lobo #2 did not lose much ground at all. That is a great sign. DC Comics may actually have a winner here.
Fury of Firestorm #1 had a fantastic debut at the number 15 spot. As a longtime Ronnie Raymond fan, I am thrilled to see this type of success for this mini-series from Jeff Lemire. Firestorm getting a Top 15 debut is a huge win for DC Comics. The real test will be issue #2, but this debut is far better than anyone had any right to expect. I hope I did not just give this title Rokk’s Kiss of Death!
The Flash #32 climbed from the number 101 spot to the number 82 spot. That is a good rebound and gets The Flash out of the Dead Titles Walking category. However, let’s not get too excited. This is still a weak ranking for The Flash. DC Comics can keep pretending everything is fine, but The Flash should never be hanging around the bottom quarter of the Top 100.
Green Lantern #34 climbed from the number 117 spot to the number 87 spot. That is a nice rebound. Still, this title should be selling much better. Green Lantern is one of DC’s big franchises. The fact that the main Green Lantern title is excited to climb to number 87 is ridiculous.
Emperor Aquaman #16 fell from the number 79 spot to the number 88 spot. That is not good. This title is sliding back toward the Dead Titles Walking category. Aquaman remains a hard sell in the direct market, and this title is not changing that reality.
Green Lantern Corps #15 climbed from the number 150 spot to the number 103 spot. This title remains trapped in the Dead Titles Walking category. There is no excuse for a title starring Guy Gardner and John Stewart to be selling this poorly. Morgan Hampton continues to have zero sales success. At some point, DC Comics is going to have to bring on a new writer to try to revitalize this title.
Let’s conclude with the ladies of the Justice League franchise.
Zatanna #1 had an excellent debut at the number 9 spot. This is the kind of result DC Comics needed. Getting a Zatanna #1 into the Top 10 is a huge success. Now the question is whether this title can hold onto the Top 25 with issue #2. What is worth pointing out is that Zatanna #1 busts the myth that shipping later in a month hurts a comic’s sales success. This issue shipped in the final week of April.
Wonder Woman #32 climbed from the number 66 spot to the number 50 spot. That is a good rebound and gets Wonder Woman back into the Top 50. This title has been more inconsistent than it should be, but cracking the Top 50 is a positive sign.
The Justice League franchise had a legitimately strong April 2026. This is exactly what DC Comics needs from the Justice League franchise. It cannot just be Batman and the Absolute Universe all the time. DC needs its broader superhero universe to matter. April 2026 shows real progress on that front.
Of course, there are still problems. The Flash, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and Aquaman are still not where they should be. These titles should all be stronger. But compared to where DC Comics was a few years ago, this is a much healthier Justice League franchise profile.
The big question is whether DC can sustain it. Zatanna #1 and Fury of Firestorm #1 had great debuts. Lobo #2 had an excellent hold. Wonder Woman climbed back into the Top 50. That is all good news. But DC Comics needs these titles to keep performing after the launch heat fades. If they do, then DC Comics might finally have a broader Justice League franchise that can actually carry some sales weight.

176 Absolute Batman Ark-M Special #1 (One-Shot) (Resolicitation)
188 Absolute Flash #13 (Resolicitation)
196 Absolute Superman #17 (Resolicitation)
The Absolute Universe had two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and down in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when the Absolute Universe had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as the Absolute Universe had three comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
The Absolute Universe remains the backbone of DC Comics’ sales success. This line is not quite as white-hot as it was at its peak, but it is still easily DC’s strongest sales engine. Two comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 is an excellent showing.
Absolute Batman #19 climbed from the number 6 spot to the number 2 spot. That is fantastic. Nineteen issues into this title, and it is still competing for the number 1 overall spot in the rankings. Absolute Batman remains DC Comics’ most powerful sales weapon. This title has been a monster from the start, and it still has not lost its elite sales power.
Absolute Wonder Woman #19 climbed from the number 10 spot to the number 4 spot. That is another fantastic result. Absolute Wonder Woman continues to be one of DC Comics’ strongest titles. This has been a huge win for DC Comics.
Absolute Green Lantern #13 climbed from the number 23 spot to the number 18 spot. That is a good rebound.
Absolute Flash #14 climbed from the number 25 spot to the number 19 spot. That is another good rebound.
Absolute Wonder Woman had three resolicited issues in the Top 200. Absolute Superman had two resolicited issues in the Top 200. That’s cute.
Absolute Batman placed an eye-watering six resolicited issues in the Top 200. That is insane. Absolute Batman remains the crown jewel of the Absolute Universe.
All in all, the Absolute Universe had a total of thirteen resolicited issues in the Top 200. That is ridiculous and something we simply do not see with any other franchise from any publisher.
The Absolute Universe is the reason DC Comics has become much more competitive with Marvel Comics in the upper part of the sales chart. Without the Absolute Universe, DC Comics’ April 2026 performance looks far less impressive.
Supernatural Comics
43 Swamp Thing 1989 #1 (Of 4) (DC Comics)
75 Sorcerer Supreme #5 (Marvel Comics)
92 Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera #3 (Of 4) (Image Comics)
104 Hello Body Horror #1 (BOOM! Studios)
129 Super Creepshow #2 (Of 5) (Image Comics)
138 Estuary A Ghost Story #1 (Of 4) (Oni Press)
154 Hello Darkness #20 (BOOM! Studios)
163 Vampirella #1 (Dynamite Entertainment)
164 Archie x Army of Darkness #3 (Dynamite Entertainment)
193 Wiccan Witches’ Road #5 (Marvel Comics)
Swamp Thing 1989 #1 had a strong debut at the number 43 spot. That is a good result for this title, delivering Rick Veitch’s lost issues from three decades ago.
Sorcerer Supreme #5 fell from the number 55 spot to the number 75 spot. That is not good. This title has now dropped to the edge of the Top 75. It looks like this title is headed toward the Dead Titles Walking category, just like Steve Orlando’s prior Scarlet Witch titles. At some point, Marvel Comics has to let someone else take a crack at writing a Scarlet Witch comic.
Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera #3 climbed from the number 135 spot to the number 92 spot. That is a nice rebound for this four-issue mini-series.
Hello Body Horror #1 had a weak debut at the number 104 spot. BOOM! Studios rarely has much success in the Top 200, so they were probably fine with this ranking for this one-shot issue tied to the Hello Darkness Series.
Super Creepshow #2 fell from the number 106 spot to the number 129 spot. This five-issue mini-series has a tough road ahead of it.
Estuary A Ghost Story #1 had a weak debut at the number 138 spot. Oni Press getting a title into the Top 200 is nice, but a number 138 debut still means this four-issue mini-series will likely become unranked before it concludes.
Hello Darkness #20 fell from the number 132 spot to the number 154 spot. This anthology continues to hang around the lower half of the Top 200. This franchise continues to be BOOM! Studios’ only entry in the Top 200.
Vampirella #1 had a nice debut at the number 163 spot. Dynamite has to be pleased that a title that never made the Top 200 managed to debut at this spot in the rankings. As a long-time Vampirella fan, this put a smile on my face.
Archie x Army of Darkness #3 fell from the number 146 spot to the number 164 spot. This five-issue mini-series continues to impress. This title is selling far better than I anticipated.
After going unranked last month, Wiccan Witches’ Road #5 barely climbed back into the Top 200 by taking the number 193 spot. With this issue, this five-issue mini-series has concluded. This title was an epic sales failure. Marvel Comics editorial continues to green-light comics for audiences that do not exist.
Cosmic Comics
115 Imperial Guardians #2 (Marvel Comics)
144 Event Horizon Inferno #1 (IDW Publishing)
158 Alien King Killer #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)
169 Space Ghost #10 (Dynamite Entertainment)
175 Predator Bloodshed #3 (Marvel Comics)
Imperial Guardians #2 fell from the number 105 spot to the number 115 spot. This title was dead on arrival with its debut issue, and issue #2 just keeps it buried in the Dead Titles Walking category. I liked the concept of this title, but the sales rankings are what they are. Rokk’s Kiss of Death strikes again.
Event Horizon Inferno #1 had a bad debut at the number 144 spot.
Space Ghost #10 fell from the number 98 spot to the number 169 spot. This title continues to be a surprise hit for Dynamite Entertainment. As a long-time Space Ghost fan, it is cool to see this title doing so well.
Predator Bloodshed #3 fell from the number 174 spot to the number 175 spot. That is basically flat, but it is flat at a terrible ranking. This five-issue mini-series is barely hanging onto the Top 200.
Street Level Comics
6 Daredevil #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)
23 Deathstroke the Terminator #2 (DC Comics)
35 Punisher #3 (Marvel Comics)
42 Marc Spector: Moon Knight #3 (Marvel Comics)
67 Alias Red Band #2 (Marvel Comics)
147 Punisher #2 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)
155 Punisher #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)
162 Deathstroke the Terminator #1 (DC Comics) (Resolicitation)
Unranked: Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun #3 (Marvel Comics)
Deathstroke the Terminator #2 dipped from the number 17 spot to the number 23 spot. That is an excellent second-issue hold. I expected this title to drop harder after its debut issue. Instead, Deathstroke stayed in the Top 25. That is a strong sign. DC Comics might have a consistent Top 50 seller on its hands with this title.
Punisher #3 climbed from the number 39 spot to the number 35 spot. That is a good result. This title continues to hold up well after its strong debut. Marvel Comics finally put Frank Castle back into a more recognizable Punisher setup, and the market has responded. Amazing how that works when Marvel Comics editors stop acting weird. Hat tip to my boy Benjamin Percy for delivering some good writing on this title.
What is also cool to see is that resolicitations for both Punisher #2 and Punisher #1 made the Top 155! That is impressive! You normally only see multiple resolicited issues for the same title if it is an Absolute Universe comic or a Batman comic. This is a real testament to what Benjamin Percy is doing on this title. It is also proof that readers just want a normal version of the Punisher.
Marc Spector: Moon Knight #3 climbed from the number 58 spot to the number 42 spot. That is a nice rebound and gets Moon Knight back into the Top 50. This is exactly where this title needs to be. Moon Knight may not be a Top 10 character, but a Jed MacKay-penned Moon Knight comic should be a reliable Top 50 seller.
Alias Red Band #2 fell from the number 61 spot to the number 67 spot. That is a decent second-issue hold. The Red Band gimmick may have helped give this title some extra attention. Alias is not lighting the sales chart on fire, but it is not awful, either. We shall see if this title can remain in the Top 75 or if it slides down to the bottom of the Top 100 with the next issue.
Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun #3 was unranked for the second consecutive month. This mantle-swap Iron Fist continues to be a massive sales failure, no matter how many titles that Marvel Comics rolls out for this character.
Legacy Character Comics
47 Nightwing #137 (DC Comics)
63 Supergirl #12 (The Reign of the Superboys) (DC Comics)
70 Titans #34 (DC Comics)
193 Wiccan Witches’ Road #5 (Marvel Comics)
The Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10 and Top 25, but better in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat in the Top 10, worse in the Top 25, and worse in the Top 50, as Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were flat in the Top 10, better in the Top 25, but worse in the Top 50 from two years ago, as Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were flat in the Top 10, worse in the Top 25, and worse in the Top 50 from three years ago, as Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were flat in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and better in the Top 50 from four years ago, as Legacy Character Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Titans #34 climbed from the number 85 spot to the number 70 spot. That is a nice rebound. Titans is still not a strong seller, but it at least moved in the right direction this month.
Legacy Character Comics remain weak. Nightwing is the only Top 50 title in this category. This category should be stronger. DC Comics has put a lot of effort into legacy characters over the years. Marvel Comics has done the same in fits and starts. Yet, the sales results remain unimpressive. Readers will show up for legacy characters when the concept is strong, the creative team is right, and the book feels important. Too often, these titles feel like editorial boxes being checked rather than must-read comics.
Mantle Swap Comics
27 Venom #257 (Death Spiral) (Marvel Comics)
82 The Flash #32 (DC Comics)
107 Generation X-23 #3 (Marvel Comics)
149 Captain Marvel Dark Past #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)
Unranked: Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun #3 (Marvel Comics)
Mantle Swap Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, worse in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when Mantle Swap Comics had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Mantle Swap Comics had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.
Numbers were down from two years ago, as Mantle Swap Comics had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in April 2024.
Numbers were down in the Top 10 and Top 50, but flat in the Top 25 from three years ago, as Mantle Swap Comics had two comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in April 2023.
Numbers were down from four years ago, as Mantle Swap Comics had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
Mantle Swap Comics had a rough April 2026. This is exactly why mantle swap comics are such a risky sales proposition. Sometimes they work. Venom has proven that. But far too often, these titles struggle to hold readers after the initial curiosity bump. Often, readers see them as substitutes rather than must-read books.

There was one female lead comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was flat in the Top 10, better in the Top 25, and better in the Top 50 compared to March 2026, when there was one female lead comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.
Year-over-year numbers were flat in the Top 10, flat in the Top 25, and down in the Top 50, as there was one female lead comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in April 2025.

DC Comics won the Battle of the Top 25 by a score of 2-1.
DC Comics won the Battle of the Top 50 by a score of 3-2.
Marvel Comics had more overall female lead volume, but DC Comics had better high-end strength. That has become a recurring theme. Marvel loves flooding the market with female lead titles, but too many of them quickly slide into the lower half of the Top 200.
There were five female lead comics in the Dead Titles Walking category. There were nineteen non-resolicited female lead comics in the Top 200. This means that 26% of the female lead comics in the Top 200 were in the Dead Titles Walking category.
This was down from the eight female lead comics in the Dead Titles Walking category in March 2026. That comprised 38% of the new female lead comics.
Sai Dimensional Rivals #4 climbed back into the Top 200 with the number 172 spot after Sai Dimensional Rivals #3 was unranked in March 2026. However, this is not a real rebound. This issue is still deep in the Dead Titles Walking category. There is no sales heat here at all for this five-issue mini-series.
Minority Lead Comics
18 Absolute Green Lantern #13 (DC Comics)
69 Psylocke Ninja #4 (Marvel Comics)
76 Storm Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #3 (Marvel Comics)
86 Moonstar #2 (Marvel Comics)
107 Generation X-23 #3 (Marvel Comics)

Numbers were down from four years ago, as there was one minority lead comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
DC Comics won the Battle of the Top 25 by a score of 1-0. DC Comics’ lone Top 25 minority lead comic was Absolute Green Lantern #13. Marvel Comics got shut out of the Top 25 entirely.
Marvel Comics placed zero minority lead comics in the Top 50. Month-over-month numbers were flat, as Marvel Comics had zero minority lead comics in the Top 50 in March 2026.
Year-over-year numbers were down, as Marvel Comics had one minority lead comic in the Top 50 in April 2025.

Numbers were up in the Top 50 from four years ago, as DC Comics had zero minority lead comics in the Top 50 in April 2022.
DC Comics won the Battle of the Top 50 by a score of 1-0. That is a brutal result. That is not good enough from Marvel Comics and DC Comics.
Marvel Comics has more volume in this category, but most of that volume is weak. DC Comics has the lone high-end title thanks to the Absolute Universe. Neither publisher should be happy with this result. This category needs far more strength at the top and far fewer titles rotting at the bottom.
There were three minority lead comics in the Dead Titles Walking category. This means that 43% of the minority lead comics were in the Dead Titles Walking category.
This was down from the four minority-lead comics that were dead titles walking in March 2026, which comprised 50% of the new minority-lead comics.
Dead Titles Walking
Based on historical numbers from the Comichron as well as projections through April 2022, titles outside of the Top 100 are usually selling under the 18,000 unit sales mark. These are the Marvel Comics and DC Comics titles that are dead titles walking.

Numbers were up from four years ago, as Marvel Comics had three dead titles walking in April 2022.
This was a much better month for Marvel Comics compared to March 2026. Going from thirty-two dead titles walking down to twelve is a massive improvement. That is the good news.
Marvel Comics finished in first place in the Battle for the Top 200. Marvel Comics placed forty-eight new comics in the Top 200.

Numbers were down from three years ago, as DC Comics had thirty-six dead titles walking in April 2023. This comprised 58% of DC Comics’ new titles.
This was a good Dead Titles Walking result for DC Comics. Eight dead titles walking is still not perfect, but it is a massive improvement over March 2026 and a dramatic improvement over DC Comics’ ugly historical numbers.
The percentage is the real story. DC Comics having only 23% of its new titles in Dead Titles Walking territory is dramatically better than the 57–59% disaster zone DC Comics was sitting in during prior years. That is real progress.
DC Comics finished in third place in the Battle for the Top 200 with thirty-five new comics in the Top 200.

The Tini Howard Award For The Writer With The Most Dead Titles Walking
I am making a big change to the Tini Howard Award. Up until now, I have only included comics from Marvel Comics and DC Comics. However, given the fact that Image Comics is now beating DC Comics in the number of comics in the Top 200, I think we may be at the point where we have three main players in the Top 200.
So, I am going to start to include comics from Image Comics as well. If Image Comics begins to fade back from Marvel Comics and DC Comics in terms of the number of new comics slotted in the Top 200, then we will make another adjustment.
As always, this award tracks writers with the most comics in the Dead Titles Walking category. That includes comics ranked from #101–200 and comics that shipped in April 2026 but failed to make the Top 200. Resolicitations do not count.
Robert Kirkman had two Dead Titles Walking comics in April 2026, with Invincible Universe Battle Beast #7 at the number 117 spot and Invincible Universe Capes #6 at the number 135 spot.
Therefore, the winner of the Tini Howard Award for April 2026 is…Robert Kirkman!
All right, that is it for April 2026. Will DC Comics continue its domination of the Top 25 in May 2026? We will find out. Until then, everyone stay safe and be good!
