PLANET SHE-HULK #6
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Stephanie Phillips
Artist: Emilio Laiso and Aaron Kuder
Colorist: Sonia Oback
Letterer: Joe Caramagna
The final issue of Planet She-Hulk suffers from all the problems of a series that was originally structured as an ongoing but ends after one story arc. For all the great build around Jennifer Walters dealing with the warrior-first political structure of Sakaar the narrative just sort of ends. There is a whiplash feeling about how Planet She-Hulk #6 resolves things. This ending more so focuses on making sure fans know She-Hulk is move to being a cosmic hero was temporary, and she is back on Earth full time. It’s disappointing because there was so much more that could’ve been done with this final issue after the strong build in the lead up to this finale.

UNCANNY X-MEN #27
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Gail Simone
Artist: Luciano Vecchio
Colorist: Matthew Wilson
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Gail Simone done a great job at making the storytelling in Uncanny X-Men be unique to this series. Case in point, Uncanny X-Men #27 finds a way to honor the fan favorite “New Mutants” with a twist that helps grow the connection readers have with the new students. The characters are able to shine in a classic X-Men setting while making it their own. All this success is as much a credit to Luciano Vecchio great artwork. Vecchio makes adjustments to make the “New Mutants” segment different from the main line segments to provide a unique look and feel to both sides. It all mixes well to elevate the direction for this story arc.

WHITE SKY #3
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: William Harms
Artist: JP Mavinga
Colorist: Lee Loughridge
Letterer: Ed Dukeshire
White Sky #3 balances the fantastic with the solitary feel this world continues to invoke. This issue is a showcase of JP Mavinga’s storytelling through the artwork. Mavinga does a lot of great work with the world building as we see even more about the supernatural side of the story. At the same time Mavinga and William Harms create so much tension around all the characters just trying to survive in this brutal world.

ZATANNA #1
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer and Artist: Jamal Campbell
Letterer: Ariana Maher
Zatanna #1 wastes no time in addressing one of the biggest aspects about the character. That is, for all her amazing powers and adventures she’s been on, Zatanna’s status quo has not changed very much. She is the top magician in the DC Universe. While that is great, she’s not moved from that position. Jamal Campbell aims to shake that up by exploring what’s the next stages of Zatanna’s development with her power set and magical status. In the process Campbell establishes multiple major threats within the magical realm of the DCU. By doing so Zatanna #1 shows incredible potential this series has to quickly become one of DC Comics best titles.
