Absolute Batman 001 (2024) October 2024 Comic Book Sales Rankings

Year In Review: 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings

With 2025 now behind us, it is time to sift through the 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings. Looking back over the entire year helps give us an idea of how each publisher did in a more macro view than our customary monthly lens that we use during the year. As always, we have to settle for going to ICv2 for their Top 200 sales rankings. It is not as good as actual unit numbers, but we must work with what we get.

Keep in mind that the Top 200 sales rankings are based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub system at over 125 local comic book shops selling American comics. These sales rankings represent sales to consumers by local comic shops.

Year-over-year numbers were down by a wide margin from the 79 comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 10 during 2024.

Numbers from two years ago were also down as Marvel Comics had 76 comics in the Top 10 in 2023.

Marvel Comics had a commanding lead over DC Comics in the Battle of the Top 10 for the past two years. However, Marvel Comics fumbled the ball in 2025 and lost considerable ground to DC Comics in the Top 10. What a stunning fall by Marvel Comics.

Year-over-year numbers were up from the zero comics that Keenspot Entertainment had in the Top 10 during 2024.

Marvel Comics took first place with 161 comics in the Top 25 during 2025.

Year-over-year numbers were down from the 189 comics that Marvel Comics had in the Top 25 during 2024.

Numbers from two years ago were also down by a wide margin, as Marvel Comics had 198 comics in the Top 25 in 2023.

This is brutal as Marvel Comics ceded ground in the Top 25 in alarming fashion compared to a year and two years ago. There is no doubt that Marvel Comics has rested on its laurels over the past couple of years. Marvel Comics editorial has pulled the trigger on many questionable editorial decisions and writer hirings over the past few years. This has led to Marvel Comics losing market share in the Top 25 at a shocking rate.

DC Comics came in second place by placing 111 comics in the Top 25 during 2025.

Year-over-year numbers were up by a wide margin from the 69 comics that DC Comics had in the Top 25 during 2024.

DC Comics may still be in second place in the Battle of the Top 25, but the publisher made some nice gains compared to last year and two years ago. DC Comics will need to build its franchises outside of the Absolute Universe and the Batman titles in order to win the Battle of the Top 25 in 2026.

Marvel has shed ground in the Top 50 by a shocking amount compared to a year and two years ago. Yes, Marvel Comics still maintains a commanding lead in the Top 50 over all of the other publishers. However, it cannot be overlooked how much of this lead Marvel Comics editorial has given away through some bad decisions in 2025.

DC Comics took second place by placing just 184 comics in the Top 50 during 2025.

Year-over-year numbers were up from the 143 comics that DC Comics had in the Top 50 during 2024.

If Marvel Comics’ editorial is going to continue to make questionable decisions during 2026, then they will see this lead shrink even further.

It is positive to see DC Comics doing much better in the Top 100 compared to a year ago and two years ago. DC Comics needs to continue to learn from what has been a sales success during 2025 and what has been a sales failure during 2025. DC Comics editorial then needs to start applying the same approaches from their successful Absolute Universe and Batman titles to their other franchises.
