Comic Book Revolution’s One Year Anniversary

I can’t believe it. The Comic Book Revolution is officially one year old. The Revolution has been broadcast live each and every day from one of Che Guevara’s old bunkers. And I’ve had an absolute blast doing this blog. And what stuns me is how many followers of the Revolution have supported this blog. The Comic Book Revolution has had over 50,000 visitors in our first year. I honestly never thought that I would even get a third of those visitors. I’m flattered that my fellow Revolutionaries enjoy my reviews and keep coming back for more.

I started the Comic Book Revolution as a way to keep myself sane. None of my friends are comic book readers. My wife could care less. So, in order for me to blow off steam when something annoyed me or to praise something when I enjoyed it, I decided to start this blog. It gave me an outlet to discuss what I love so much. Comic Books.

My other reason for starting this blog was that I always wished I could go to a website and get access to years of reviews on a bunch of different titles. That way I could find out if I was missing out on something good. I find most reviews, in particular the ones in Wizard magazine, to be totally useless. Wizard blows sunshine up the ass of any and every comic book out of fear of pissing off DC or Marvel and losing their unfettered access to their talent.

I figured that if I could get a person to try a comic book that they had not read before then I’d done my job. Spreading the love of comic books is definitely the Revolution’s number one goal.

What has been really cool are all the followers of the Revolution from all over the globe. The Revolution has followers all across the United States. But, what is really neat are all the followers in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, The Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Poland, Czech Republic, Israel, India, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and The Philippines.

The internet has really made our globe a lot smaller and has enables us instant contact with people in other countries that was totally unimaginable in the past. I love it. There is something about making a connection with a person from a totally different culture in a country far away that is so cool.

Of course, I’ve also had some highly unusual visits over the past year, I’m talking some strange search queries have been entered and pointed a person to my blog. For example, one person was searching for “Wonder Woman bound in golden lasso” and another person was searching for “Zatanna gagged” and they were both sent here to the Revolution. I have definitely learned that people search for some of the strangest things.

I hope that the second year of the Comic Book Revolution is as much fun as the first year. I hope you guys enjoy reading the reviews and thanks for being a part of the Revolution!

  1. I’ve visited the sites every day for the last few months, although I’m a first-time commenter. (I’m reading from in the UK by the way).

I really love the site and find almost all of the reviews spot on. I’m fairly new to comics, so I love finding out about a great series that I haven’t read any of yet.

Anyway, I really love the site and hope that you continue to maintain it for a long time.

  2. Happy Birthday revolution. I make it a point to check out this site at least once a day, usually when I should be working. I don’t always get the comics until a month after they come out, so the blog helps me keep current. viva La Revolution!
