Story – Lady Bullseye: Part 3

Review
After spending the first two issues of this “Lady Bullseye” arc to build up the threat of Lady Bullseye and The Hand, Brubaker has finally step it up the pace with this issue. Unlike the last few issues this issue was able to mix some great fighting scenes with good character development.

For the past few years The Hand have become kind of a joke from what they use to be. But in this issue, and the past two issues, Brubaker has done a nice job building The Hand back up into the dangerous ninja assassins they should be.

It was nice seeing that Matt finally put on his Daredevil costume and finally take some action instead of just standing around. It seems that with everything going on in his life Matt isn’t fighting at his full potential. In his brief fight with Lady Bullseye you can see that Matt was overthinking the whole time which is what left him open for all of Lady Bullseye’s attacks. If Matt hopes to be survive this battle against Lady Bullseye and The Hand he needs to stop over thinking everything or else he is going to continue to get his ass whupped by Lady Bullseye again.

Though I got to say I continue to enjoy what Brubaker has been doing with the Matt and Dakota relationship. The uncomfortable feeling both characters have after what happend build some nice tense moments between the two of them. And from the looks of things it seems that with The Hand capturing the Milla that Brubaker is going to have Lady Bullseye kill either Milla or Dakota, and my money is on Milla.

I like Master Izo. He added some nice comdy to this grim storyline while also showing that he can kick ass. Hopefully we will see more of Master Izo even after this storyline.

Michael Lark and Stefano Gaudiano provide some great dark and grim artwork to go along with the Brubaker’s street level/martial art story he is telling. The fight scenes in this issue looked really good and I especially like the scene were Master Izo saved Matt’s ass by quickly taking care of The Hand members. Lark and Gaudiano artwork in that scene shows that Master Izo is not just some old gesier and he is one serious ass kicker. The only problem I had with the art is that they over did it with all the shadowing and at times the shadows would cover almost all of a character’s body and face.

Issue Rating
Story: 8.4/10 – Brubaker finally picks up the pace of this story that before was taking his sweet time building the story.
Art: 7.8/10 – Lark and Gaudiano provide the necessary dark and grim artwork for Brubaker’s story but at times the inking would go overboard with the shadowing.
Overall: 8.2/10 – This issue did a nice job building this storyline and is the best issue of this story so far and I can’t wait to see were Brubaker takes this story in the next issue.
