Marvel Comics July 2026 Solicitations 10 Biggest Takeaways

Marvel Comics July 2026 comic book solicitations are here! With it we see how Marvel fans are going to have a busy summer waiting for them. That is thanks to this summer having the Avengers, X-Men, and Venom headlining one of three events. That sets up a busy second half of 2026 for the Marvel Universe and fans. What else can we expect this summer? Find out with our ten takeaways from Marvel Comics July 2026 comic book solicitations.

10) MARVEL SWIMSUIT SUMMER SEASON

Whereas last year’s one-shot was led by the X-Men, 2026’s Marvel Swimsuit Special appears to be led by the Spider-Man Family. We see that with the main cover being all Spider-Man Family members. That is on top of the full name being Amazing Spider-Man inspired with Marvel Swimsuit Special: Brand New Beach Day.

Though this one-shot is coming out at a busy event season with three big events going on. Guess we will see the power these Marvel Swimsuit Specials have to be able to be as successful. It being led by the Spider-Man Family does likely help with a boost to the MCU Spider-Man movie releasing around that time.

9) MARVEL MONETIZING FREE COMIC BOOK DAY COMICS

Leave it to Marvel to monetize their Free Comic Book Day comics. We see this as they are doing fans the favor of collecting their Free Comic Book Day comics into a singular comic book. So in case you weren’t able to pick up this year’s FCBD featuring Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, and Queen in Black than you can pick up Marvel Zero all for the price of $4.99.

That’s right rather than republishing it as a free comic to get more readers to read the “important” FCBD one-shots they are charging for it. That feels like a very Marvel method to pull for a comic book that was previously offered for free. They need every dollar to satisfy their Disney overlords, especially right now.

8) X-MEN HELLFIRE GALA MURDER MYSTERY

The Hellfire Gala has become a go to annual tradition since it was brought back during the Krakoa Era. Proof is shown how even with the Krakoa Era behind us we are still getting a yearly Hellfire Gala one-shot. Like the Hellfire Vigil one-shot last year, we are getting a slight name change for the event with 2026’s version being titled Hellfire Murder.

As the name and covers imply, we are going to be getting a murder mystery going on during this year’s Hellfire Gala event. This time it will be the former mentor-protégé team of Wolverine and Jubilee leading the proceedings. It’s been a while since we have seen Wolverine and Jubilee paired up as even in the current Uncanny X-Men series they are doing things together with their other team members.

That said, with Marvel Comics July 2026 solicitations announcing the DNX X-Men event it is tough to get excited for the Hellfire Murder one-shot. DNX stole the Hellfire Murder’s thunder before we even get to July. I guess it will be a real test if the Hellfire Gala is something X-Men fans still want on a yearly basis.

7) SPIDER-MAN DOMINATES WHAT IF…? JULY COMICS

If it wasn’t clear enough how much Marvel is banking on Spider-Man to help sell comics in July just look at three What If…? comics releasing that month. All three July What If…? comics are going to be centered around Spider-Man in some way.

This includes the What If…? featuring Jessica Jones being the one that got bit by the spider rather than Peter Parker. This is a What If…? that is surprising Marvel hasn’t done already. Though rather than following Peter’s path, it looks like Jessica couldn’t deal with all the trauma that comes with being Spider-Girl as she is retired superhero by the time this comic story starts. What that means for the mythology of that Marvel Universe could be interesting.

Then there are the two other What If…? stories that we’ve seen before. The other two will be yet another What If…? about Kraven’s Last Hunt and Secret Wars. They aren’t terribly original as Marvel has revisited these stories many times before. Because of that they don’t have the same hook of the Jessica Jones What If…?

6) CHRIST CLAREMONT BRINGS US A NEW GAMBIT COMIC

Christ Claremont is back to tell another story with one his X-Men creations. This time around it will be a Gambit mini-series. Like with previous X-Men mini-series he’s written, Claremont is revisiting the early days of the character in Gambit Wanted. Specifically, it is telling the story of how Gambit came to become an X-Men and the previously unknown journey he went on.

Gambit getting his own mini-series also continues the 2026 trend of Marvel dedicating the X-Men line to telling a bunch of solo adventures. They seem to be using this year to experiment on which characters X-Men fans are willing to buy solo or duo comics on.

If that is the case it is not a bad strategy. They need to show that it’s more than the team and Wolverine solo books can sell. If they use the sales data right, they could set up the X-Men line for better success in 2027 for new X-Men ongoings.

5) DOCTOR DOOM CHALLENGES MR. FANTASTIC

Doctor Doom is not letting his tremendous loss during One World Under Doom deter him from making 2026 his year. We see that as we are going to be getting a new series of one-shots featuring Doctor Doom battling various Marvel heroes. That will come in the form of the Challenges of Doom series of one-shots.

And of course, with this being a one-shot series led by Doctor Doom it can only start with Mr. Fantastic. Their eternal rivalry will never die. If Doctor Doom is challenging a Marvel hero he will either start or end with Mr. Fantastic.

Marvel tapping Al Ewing to write at least this first Challenges of Doom one-shot is intriguing. Ewing has done a lot of great work with his Marvel comics over the years. This Challenges of Doom: Mr. Fantastic could be sneaky one-shot that could end up on some Best of 2026 lists.

4) TRUTH ABOUT AMAZING SPIDER-MAN EXPANDED FAMILY

Marvel is not making it a secret that they are once again expanding the Parker family in Amazing Spider-Man. This time instead of a secret sister it is a secret cousin no one knew Peter had that is showing up. The Parker family being bigger than was previously known has become a common trope for Spider-Man along with clones and breaking up with MJ every few years.

It is tough to buy into this type of story when we’ve seen Marvel, and Spider-Man editorial specifically, not do much long term thinking with these types of developments. It feels like just creating a hook to for hook purposes rather than finding a way to push Peter Parker forward. Because the last thing Marvel wants to do is have a story where Peter grows up to be an adult and instead be the loser teen even in his 20s and 30s.

If that was not enough it looks like we are going to be revisiting the Red Goblin storyline in Spider-Versity. This is no surprise as Spider-Man editorial has been itching to make Norman Osborn a villain again. They’ve shown patience with all the teases since Norman’s “sins” were taken away from him. But now it looks like the Carnage symbiote will force the Green Goblin side of Norman to return.

3) QUEEN IN BLACK NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN

Avengers: Armageddon and DNX are not the only events competing for Marvel fans attention this summer. We got the latest event in the current Venom Saga going on with Queen in Black.

It says a lot about how Marvel is treating their three big summer events that they aren’t limiting creative teams from using the same characters. We see that with Queen In Black #2 and the tie-ins to the event feature Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and other heroes being involved.

While that is good to see this limitation not be in place it does show how Marvel strategy to stretch their fans wallets this summer. Rather than one big event getting all the attention they have three big events. Queen In Black feels like the odd event out given Marvel will likely put most of their marketing efforts into Avengers: Armageddon and DNX.

2) WHAT WILL AVENGERS ARMAGEDDON IMPACT BE

Marvel has seemingly learned its lesson from One World Under Doom. We see this with how Marvel Comics July 2026 solicitations promote the Avengers: Armageddon event. They aren’t banking their entire publishing line on the event. At least for the beginning they are keeping the event contained to the main Avengers: Armageddon series along with Captain America and Ultimate Impact: Reborn.

This more restrained approach is refreshing. We saw that it didn’t really help anyone to let One World Under Doom dictate the comics being published. Keeping it to a few comics, especially only those written by Chip Zdarsky is smart. It signals to those interested in the event the specific comics they should be following without breaking their bank accounts.

Though this puts into question how far reaching the events of Avengers: Armageddon will be. It will likely dictate the direction for all the Avengers related comic books after 2026. But beyond that it is tough to see how it will move the needle beyond the Avengers team books. That’s where the importance of Ultimate Impact: Reborn by Chris Condon and Stefano Caselli will be even more important. If Marvel is once again banking on new characters to draw readers they have to be truly compelling rather than just replacements or copies of characters that already have a fanbase.

1) X-MEN DNX EVENT TAKING OVER

The X-Men and Fantastic Four are not letting the Avengers to dictate the direction they are going. Rather than simply being part of the Avengers: Armageddon event both teams are going to be busy with their own crossover event. That comes in the form of an event titled DNX.

DNX is being written by current X-Men series writer Jed Mackay. That immediately indicates that DNX will be specifically using what MacKay has been building in his X-Men series along with last year’s Age of Revelations event. Specifically, it is going to putting White Beast, the Krakoa Age version of Beast who became corrupted by power and thought to be dead.

The Fantastic Four are going to be dragged into this as the White Beast and 3K’s plan to unleash the X-Virus could change things for their family. This could be Marvel’s way of rectifying Franklin Richards mutant status after they took that status away during the Krakoa Era. It would explain why the Fantastic Four would get directly involved, especially as Marvel and Disney are investing more on the X-Men franchise property.

A wild card to look out for in DNX will be Cyclops. We’ve seen in the post-Age of Revelations X-Men comics that Cyclops has taken a path that was reminiscent of Magneto in the past. Its put him at odds with many of the other X-Men in recent months. The decisions he makes in DNX will say a lot for the direction MacKay and the X-Men staff will have for his character in 2026 and beyond.
