TRANSFORMERS #29 SOLICITATION

“AUTOBOTS VS DECEPTICONS! And only [SPOILER] can turn the tide…” – Image Comics & Skybound Entertainment

REVIEW

Robert Kirkman and Dan Mora have nailed the sense of story advancement with their work on Transformers. That is showcased once again with Transformers #29. This issue is 20+ pages of non-stop action. But for as loud as things get you are constantly given one character decision to another. These character decisions come together to make the reading experience even better.

Non-Stop Autobots vs Decepticons Action

The action is no doubt the star of the show in Transformers #29. You can really feel how much the Autobots and Decepticons despise one another. The intensity of the fighting feeds into that as there is no letting up on either side.

It is in capturing this sensation throughout Transformers #29 that we see all the characters involved have some sort of moment. Yes, Optimus Prime and Megatron are obviously the key characters you most follow as a reader because of their status’ as leaders. They set the tone for everything that happens in this issue.

That’s where we see Optimus Prime and Megatron’s impact on the franchise the most. They set the tone for how every other Autobot and Decepticon fights. There is just no giving up as even one wrong move or decision can turn the tide. It is why everyone no matter their current state has to fight as hard as they can.

Dan Mora’s Artwork at its Best

Transformers #29 is Dan Mora at his absolute best as an artist. It is not just Mora’s artwork but also Sarah Stern’s coloring that steals the show. Stern does a phenomenal job at giving Mora’s artwork that extra sense of vibrance.

Being as stunning as it is, you can’t help but be impressed with the sense of momentum Mora and Stern create. The action is very fluid. Every panel leads to one another. There is momentum that is built up to the point that when we do get a splash page it hits that much harder.

Having such high level artwork makes this latest Autobots vs Decepticons fight is a big event. There is an importance given to everything going on that you get a sense something big will end up happening. Just giving the story that type of aura is a credit to what Mora and Stern do with this comic book.

Arcee Quickly Becoming Character to Watch

With her upgrade in the previous issue Arcee was well positioned to play an important role in the series moving forward. Arcee’s upgrade was something well deserved as she has consistently shown she is ready to step up. That is something proven to be immediately paying off with what Arcee does in Transformers #29.

What’s most impressive about what Kirkman is doing with Arcee is that he isn’t just forcing her importance. Kirkman understands that Arcee’s importance to the series still needs to come naturally. She isn’t suddenly the lead character. But because of her progression what she does in battle has a sense of importance behind it. It is a great job at making sure everything Arcee is shown doing is with a purpose to increase interest in this series.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Robert Kirkman, Dan Mora, and Sarah Stern are at the top of their game with Transformers #29. The non-stop action from the latest Autobot vs Decepticon battle is all done with a great sense of purpose. There is so much that goes on during this action packed comic book that you can’t help be left excited for what will come out of the results.
