Batman #4 does an effective job being a great set-up issue. Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez are making sure to dedicate time to adding solid building blocks on the foundation that is Gotham City. Comic Book Reviews 12/3/25: Birds of Prey #28BIRDS OF PREY #28

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Kelly Thompson

Artist: Sami Basri and Vicente Cifuentes

Inker: Vicente Cifuentes

Colorist: Adriano Lucas

Letterer: Clayton Cowles

Birds of Prey #28 brings Kelly Thompson’s run on the series to a close in as satisfying as a way as it could. This issue shined in what was the strength of Thompson’s run, the chemistry between the cast. There are a lot of great moments in the virtual and real worlds that build on the developments these characters have had during this series. The payoff does feel like things needed to end but Thompson wraps things up in a way that leaves you hoping we don’t go to long before the next Birds of Prey run.

Comic Book Reviews 12/3/25: DC K.O.: Superman vs Captain AtomDC K.O.: SUPERMAN VS CAPTAIN ATOM

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Joshua Williamson

Artist: Sean Izaakse

Colorist: Trish Mulvihill and Hi-Fi

Letterer: Dave Sharpe

Superman vs Captain Atom drives home that what DC K.O.’s round of 16 is basically PPV wrestling. There are no surprises here. The fight is choreographed in a way to make sure that Captain Atom’s credibility as a powerhouse is maintained. So even if Superman’s win was known going into this comic book the action was enough to be entertained by. That seems to be the tone this set of DC K.O. tie-ins are going for

Overall Rating: 6.5 Night Girls out of 10

Comic Book Reviews 12/3/25: G.I. JOE #15G.I. JOE #15

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Joshua Williamson

Artist: Tom Reilly

Colorist: Jordie Bellaire

Letterer: Rus Wooton

G.I. JOE #15 keeps up the momentum for “The Dreadnok War” going high. The chemistry between all the characters involved, including the new character introduced, is all well done. Through the actions the Dreadnoks are taking Joshua Williamson and Tom Reilly further build out the world of the G.I. JOE in the Energon Universe in very intriguing ways. Comic Book Reviews 12/3/25: Ultimate Universe: Two Years InULTIMATE UNIVERSE: TWO YEARS IN

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Deniz Camp and Alex Paknadel

Artist: Patrick Boutin, Phil Noto, Francesco Manna, Lee Ferguson, and Javier Pulido

Colorist: Federico Blee, Phil Noto, Guru-eFX, Erick Arciniega, and Javier Pulido

Letterer: Travis Lanham

Ultimate Universe: Two Years In misses the mark of hitting what made its predecessor special. This entire comic book comes across as what was pitched for an Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy series if the Ultimate Universe continued on with a third year. There’s just not much here other than being for Ultimate Universe completionist. It is to bad because this comic book should leave the reader looking forward to Ultimate Endgame and the roles the characters involved in this one-shot play in the event.

Comic Book Reviews 12/3/25: Ultimate X-Men #22ULTIMATE X-MEN #22

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer and Artist: Peach Momoko

Script Adaptation: Zack Davisson

Letterer: Travis Lanham

Ultimate X-Men #22 brings a surprising close to the Shadow King storyline that Peach Momoko has been working on since this series started. The way it appears to wrap up between Shadow King and Armor does leave you wondering what exactly will happen in the last few issues of this series. Credit to Momoko’s eye for visual design as the action choreography throughout this issue added to the surprise. You see how it all builds to hit as hard as it could.
