Find out how these comic books turned out with the latest comic book reviews round-up below.
ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #20
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artists: Rafa Sandoval and Vicente Cifuentes
Colorist: Ulises Arreola
Letterer: Becca Carey
Absolute Superman #20 is the Absolute Universe at its best. The mix of mythology exploration with action further elevates King Shazam as a compelling villain. Everything we learn about him through Absolut Hawkman further builds out the long history of the Absolute Universe before we ever started reading about it. The way that motivates King Shazam makes him a threat that does feel like an even greater mountain for Superman to overcome. That all makes what the final splash page delivers be an even more exciting hook ending.

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #21
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Dillon Snook
Colorist: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Becca Carey
The solitary experience that Absolute Wonder Woman #21 hits hard. The spots we find Diana of the Wild Isle and Barbara Minerva are similar but different at the same time. It creates a greater connection between the two that feels more personal. Their situations also elevate Veronica Cale and another ally turned villain as major antagonists for the series. It is all done in a way that keeps you guessing what kind of challenges await Absolute Wonder Woman next.
Overall Rating: 8.5 Night Girls out of 10
ULTIMATE ENDGAME #5
CREATIVE TEAM
Writers: Deniz Camp
Artists: Terry & Rachel Dodson and Jonas Scharf
Colorists: Terry Dodson and Edgar Delgado
Letterer: Cory Petit
Ultimate Endgame #5 is a lot of noise for the little genuine impact it has after all the build-up that went into this event. Rather than being a true endgame boss worth the two-year build, The Maker turns out to be just a giant blob rambling blob. All the battles that happen in this issue are just a bunch of white noise, which is not helped at all by the rushed artwork. Then you add in how what were supposed to be major deaths early on are wiped away and we have an event that is pure disappointment.
Overall Rating: 3 Night Girls out of 10
ULTIMATE UNIVERSE: FINALE
CREATIVE TEAM
Writers: Jonathan Hickman, Bryan Hill, Chris Condon, Deniz Camp, and Peach Momoko
Artists: Marco Checchetto, Stefano Caselli, Alesandro Cappuccio, Juan Frigeri, and Peach Momoko
Colorists: Marcio Menyz, David Curiel, Bryan Valenza, and Federico Blee
Letterer: Travis Lanham
Ultimate Universe: Finale shows that life goes on for all the characters of Earth-6160. The quality of the way their each series in this Ultimate Universe wraps varies as much as the entire universe did. There are ideas presented that show there are more stories to tell. But then you get to the final segment and are reminded it is probably better this is the end because where the last two years led us to didn’t feel worth the price of admission.

VOID RIVALS #31
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Conor Hughes
Colorist: Patricio Delpeche
Letterer: Rus Wooton
The Skuxxoid Civil War completely takes over Void Rivals #31. As we see brought up during the course of the showdown between Skuxxoid Alpha and the leader of the Skuxxoid Liberation this isn’t the first time this has happened. The reality of the cycle the Skuxxoid find themselves is felt with how the entire battle goes down. The result of this latest battle wraps up this Skuxxoid sub-plot of Void Rivals. With this sub-plot resolved it’ll be interesting to see what the impact will be on Darak and Solila journey.
Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10
ZATANNA #3
CREATIVE TEAM
Writer and Artist: Jamal Campbell
Letterer: Ariana Maher
If you didn’t know it already, Jamal Campbell is one of the best comic book storytellers in the industry. Zatanna #3 is a reminder of why that is with a stunning looking comic book with fantastic character development. The different panel structures and way splash pages are layered adds so much to the crazy mystical journey Zatanna is on. Even when things get chaotic with all the places Zatanna has to go to stop the magical threat we are never lost. The pacing is on point to keep a strong focus on what makes Zatanna awesome.
