Marvel Comics September 2026 solicitations have arrived! We once again see that Marvel’s upcoming months will be fueled by big events. Along with Avengers: Armageddon and X-Men: DNX we are getting the end of the Queen In Black event and a crossover between Deadpool and Punisher beginning in September. That is on top of major celebrations for Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and the Marvel Mangaverse. What else should we expect from Marvel in September? Find out with our ten big takeaways from Marvel Comics September 2026 comic book solicitations.
10) THE MUPPETS TAKEOVER THE MARVEL UNIVERSE

A crossover that I never thought of but probably should have is The Muppets invading the Marvel Universe. That is exactly what we will be getting in September. This is happening as part of The Muppets 50th anniversary. I certainly grew up watching The Muppets, shoutout to the Muppet Babies.
The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe being a anthology is a smart call. This does not have to be more than just a bunch of different fun team-ups of the different Muppets meeting different Marvel characters. They can even take what some of the covers tease by adapting some movies and segments from The Muppets Show with Marvel characters.
9) SPIDER-WOMAN CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY

There are many characters that can be said to be ready to break through as the next big character. One of the Marvel characters that is certainly true for is Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman. Marvel has certainly made a number of efforts to have Spider-Woman be a character that can carry a solo series.
2026 may very well be the year that happens for Jessica Drew thanks to the great creative team Marvel has assembled for her 50th anniversary. Ann Nocenti represents Spider-Woman’s past as having written some of the best comics starring Jessica Drew. Then there is Dan Watter’s who is going to be writing the story that will set-up Jessica’s new status quo as Spider-Woman.
Hopefully this one-shot does well. Because if there is a writer that can write a great Spider-Woman comic book it is Dan Watters. He has proven himself as one of the most talent writers in the industry right now with his work at BOOM! Studios and DC Comcis. Spider-Woman is exactly the type of character he would excel at writing and creating a comic book that could be a fan favorite.
8) MARVEL MANGAVERSE RETURNS FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Marvel will never miss an opportunity to use a anniversary to give a reason to publish a celebration comic book. Even if the anniversary is for something that they have not published in a long time. Case in point, the Marvel Mangaverse is will be hitting its 25th anniversary in September. To celebrate this anniversary we are getting five Marvel Mangaverse one-shots, releasing one a week in September.
Right away what sticks out is how Marvel Mangaverse 25th anniversary is being put out just to fill up Marvel’s publishing catalogue. This is purely to take advantage of the anniversary and hope what’s left of the Marvel Mangaverse fanbase will pick this up. Other Marvel fans will likely be busy with other comics events, crossovers, milestone, and anniversaries coming out that month.
A disappointing aspect of this Marvel Mangaverse celebration is that Marvel didn’t recruit mangakas to write or draw these comics. It would have been a good opportunity to use the connections built through the partnership with Shueisha and VIZ Media to have mangaka handle these one-shots. Instead we are getting comic book writers writing stories that are inspired by manga.
7) PUNISHER VS DEADPOOL CROSSOVER EVENT

Having big Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four events is not enough for Marvel. Not even a big celebration for Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is enough to make September be as big as possible in Marvel’s eye. They need at least one more crossover to make things even better for the first month of fall.
That is where Big Guns, a crossover between Punisher and Deadpool, steps in. Punisher and Deadpool are two characters that rarely cross paths. So in terms of a fresh crossover Big Guns is delivering that. Though if it will make a meaningful impact on either comics sales numbers is tough to gauge. It will really test both Punisher and Deadpool’s comic book popularity with how big of a focus Armageddon, DNX, and Amazing Spider-Man #1000 are getting in September.
6) ALIENS SET THEIR SITES ON THE X-MEN

Of all the crossovers that Marvel has done with other Disney properties none have hit like the ones with the Alien franchise. At this point the Aliens have crossover with almost every Marvel character or team. In September the X-Men will be added to the list of characters that have taken on the Aliens.
Unlike the previous AvX event, this event is truly a terrifying scenario for the X-Men. They have certainly faced off threatening alien threats in the past. They include the Shi’ar Empire and The Brood. But none of them are as terrifying as the Aliens. This could be something the X-Men could not overcome. And it may lead to a new mutant-alien hybrid to be born in the aftermath.
5) INFERNAL HULK VS WOLVERINE SETTING STAGE FOR HULK WAR

We know that in early 2027 Marvel’s big event will be the Hulk War. It is an event that will payoff everything Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein have done with their Infernal Hulk Saga. But 2027 is still six months away. That is a lot of time for the momentum going into Hulk War to be lost.
That is where a new set of Versus one-shots starring Infernal Hulk will fill the gap. In this new Versus series of one-shots we will see Infernal Hulk taking on various Marvel heroes. That will kick off in September with the classic match-up of Infernal Hulk vs Wolverine.
If Marvel is trying to keep up the momentum starting off with Wolverine is the best given the connection with Hulk. In the months that follow we will see Infernal Hulk take on the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and Avengers.
4) DNX REWRITING WHO MAGNETO IS

The battle between the X-Men and 3K is going to intensify in DNX #2 with the Fantastic Four being a big part of it. The battle is giving the X-Men their biggest test since the end of the Krakoa Era. 3K are doing everything they can to make sure their side wins. That includes taking one of the big powerhouses for the X-Men out of the battlefield: Magneto.
Magneto being taken off the board early is teasing bigger things for the Master of Magnetism. Both DNX #2 and X-Men #38 heavily hint at Magneto’s latest near-death experience will change him. The solicitations lean into what is being termed as a “genetic prophet” for mutants moving forward.
Based on the wording of this we could see one of the major status quo shifts from the fallout of DNX being Magneto returning to his old ways. He has never left his old mentality but he has certainly adjusted to being a major member of the X-Men. But the experience in DNX could cause Magneto to return to being a villain in the future.
3) QUEEN IN BLACK COMING TO AN END

While Avengers: Armageddon and X-Men: DNX will still be going strong the Venom-centric Queen In Black event will be coming to an end in September. This will conclude a major long-running saga in the Marvel Universe. The end of Queen In Black will end a narrative that has been building since King In Black.
With this end there is a tease of a major shakeup in the Venom status quo. Particularly, it is being heavily teased that Queen In Black could mark the end of Mary Jane Watson’s time as Venom. The solicitation of Venom #262 is indicating that could happen. On top of that the ending of the Queen In Black: Venom Unchained teases Eddie Brock possibly going back to being Venom.
Now given that MJ only just started to hit her stride as Venom the teases for her status quo shift may just be that. Marvel has certainly done that a lot when it comes to MJ so her time as Venom may not be over. The bigger question will be what impact Queen In Black will have with so many events still going in the Marvel Universe.
2) MARVEL SPOILS ARMAGEDDON FOR NEW AVENGERS RISE OUT OF ARMAGEDDON

One of the things that we all knew would happen in the aftermath of Avengers: Armageddon is that there would be a new team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The Avengers lost a lot of steam over the last few years, especially with the event heavy culture Marvel has that put the team at the center of everything. Starting 2026 with the Avengers ending showed that the team needed a reset.
Marvel has given us a look at what the reset will look like in November in their latest solicitations. In the process Marvel Comics September 2026 provides us some major spoilers in that we won’t get a classic Avengers roster. Rather than team led by Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, the new Avengers roster is being headlined by Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, and Luke Cage.
Given that the new Avengers #1 won’t release until November we still have to wait for Armageddon to wrap up. Though now we at least know what the endgame leads to that takes away the momentum of Avengers: Armageddon. Especially with how quickly Marvel already started promoting Avengers #1 as soon as the first issue of the latest big event started.
1) AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 CELEBRATION

You know that Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is a big deal when it is the only issue of Amazing Spider-Man coming out in September. Marvel is going all in with the promotion to make sure fans of the series will buy the comic book. That even includes making their own bad and good news by initially pulling John Romita Jr.’s cover and then re-establishing it as the main cover for the celebratory comic book.
The drama around Amazing Spider-Man #1000 main cover aside, this comic book is a major milestone for the series to hit. Even with all the legacy number shenanigans Marvel does with its constant relaunches Amazing Spider-Man has been a constant for the company. All the creators contributing the milestone comic shows that.
The issue also will be important in setting up what Spider-Man’s future will be. Peter Parker has been through a lot the last few years. Amazing Spider-Man #1000 could set up the next few years for the character. It’ll be up to Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz to ensure that direction keeps the readers picking up the comic book that haven’t in a while or are doing it for the first time.
