I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1 Preview

Coming later this March BOOM! Studios will be launching a new series by writer Josie Campbell and artist Alessio Zonno titled I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1. BOOM! Studios has provided us with a preview of I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1 to share.

This new series will tell an aspirational tale of a girl who just wants to become a star player in her favorite sport, Screaming Pain Ball. Joining Campbell and Zonno for I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1 are colorist Angel De Santiago and letterer Jim Campbell.

As you’ll see from the preview below, I Heart Skull-Crusher has a manga and anime influence. The energy does invoke the spirit of the BOOM! Box imprint the series is part of. This is extended in the teaser information we get in the solicitation for I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1:

18-year-old Trini will do anything to compete in her favorite sport, Screaming Pain Ball, aspiring to the heights of her longtime hero Skull-Crusher! But she can’t do it alone, and a gaggle of misfits is just what she needs to cross the American Waste and battle in Queen Mob’s deadly tournament.

With Trini’s dreams of being just like Skull-Crusher on the line, do she and her friends have what it takes to win a coveted spot on Skull-Crusher’s undefeated team?

I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1 will feature a main cover by series artist Alessio Zonno. Additionally, variant covers by R1c0 and Gus Allen will also be available. You can check out the covers and five-page preview of I Heart Skull-Crusher! #1 below.
