It’s time for another round of comic book reviews. There were a lot of major releases this week to talk about. With that in mind this week we’ll be covering Absolute Batman #24, Absolute Wonder Woman #24, Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2, Power Rangers Green #2, Void Rivals #34, and Yumi: 00EX #2. ABSOLUTE BATMAN #24

Absolute Batman #24 is exactly what this series needed, a turning point chapter. This was needed not because the series was dipping but that the protagonists needed it. You get that when we get to the Batman vs Scarecrow confrontation. Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta did a fantastic job building up to this fight being what Batman needed with the conversation Bruce had with someone close to him. That along how Barbara Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth’s own character arcs were inserted in throughout this issue made Absolute Batman #24 another phenomenal issue in this series.

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #24

Absolute Wonder Woman #24 is an excellent example of how a creative team can balance each other out. Kelly Thompson knew exactly when it was time in the story told for the writing to carry and when it was the artwork. This is done early on with how Hayden Sherman and Jordie Bellaire deliver big event-level artwork. This balance helps build the anticipation for how personal the eventual Wonder Woman vs Cheetah battle will be. In the process we get mythology building with how Greek mythology has adapted into the Absolute Universe.

MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #2

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2 does exactly what it needed to do to build up Revenant as a major threat. Their power is enough to make Revenant a challenge for Spider-Man. What makes him dangerous is his connection with Miles Morales father, Jeff Morales. Tying in Revenant with Jeff’s past during his time as a SHIELD agent worked well to help build the villain. It takes Revenant from just being a powerhouse villain to someone that has personal ties to Spider-Man that Miles does not know about.

POWER RANGERS GREEN #2

Power Rangers Green #2 is a messy follow-up to the debut issue of this series. The comic book constantly feels like it is clashing with itself in trying to find its identity. The post-apocalyptic setting that Pallie Paul Allor and Gustaffo Vargas is just not working. The only hope is that the tease of diving deeper into this version of Tommy Oliver’s character will help create an investment in the story that these first two issues have failed to create. VOID RIVALS #34

After all the parties involved were doing there thing Void Rivals #34 starts bringing together separate storylines that have been in development. All of it is thanks to ROM as there presence very much brings things together. All of it while we get a very good action sequence with Solila once again stepping up. It all ending with Skuxxoid confronting everyone helps to elevate the danger Solila and Darak will continue to be dealing with in the immediate future.

YUMI: 00EX #2

Yumi: 00EX #2 is a fantastic follow-up to the strong debut this Doug Wagner and Hoyt Silva mini-series. They keep up the momentum with some great action sequences and character development as we follow Yumi’s search for her boyfriend.
