The second month of the year has come to an end, so it is time to decide where the Best Comic Books released in February. Just selecting ten comic books is not an easy decision. There were a ton of quality comic books released from all publishers this past month. While it was hard to decide from all the comics I read this month, I’ve made my decision about what the ten Best Comic Books were from my February pull list. Find out what they were below.
10) UNCANNY X-MEN #24

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Gail Simone
Artist: David Marquez
Colorist: Matthew Wilson
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Gail Simone and David Marquez nail the mix of monster horror with superheroes to create a fun comic book in Uncanny X-Men #24. The battle with the monsters of the Marvel Universe is something we don’t normally see the X-Men do. That creates a refreshing story that takes the X-Men out of their comfort zone. Marquez’s artwork in particular shines as the horror movie tone is hit with his and Matthew Wilson’s art. It all comes together to show once again why Uncanny X-Men is the franchise’s best series right now.
9) TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #15

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Gene Luen Yang
Artist: Freddie E. Williams II
Colorist: Andrew Dalhouse
Letterer: Shawn Lee
With the impact we saw Splinter’s death have on the franchise for years his return has felt just as impactful. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #15 drives the impact Splinter’s return has as his actions are felt by a variety of characters. That is thanks to how Master Splinter returned with a whole new objective. It’s an objective that makes you question why he was brought back and if it will ultimately be a good thing. Especially given how the TMNT squad have responded as they learn more about the return of their father. The greater utilization of the mystic arts that this has all brought on has given a sense of this being a breath of fresh air.
8) SORCERER SUPREME #3

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Steve Orlando
Artist: Bernard Chang
Colorist: Ruth Redmond
Letterer: Joe Sabino
Sorcerer Supreme #3 pits Scarlet Witch and Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor in a story that elevates both characters. Steve Orlando and Bernard Chang make sure there is time dedicated the battle between the two powerful sorceress. The fight being set in Madelyne Pryor’s realm added to how this ultimately was a display of Scarlet Witch’s power level. Continuing the one-shot approach to storytelling further helps build Wanda Maximoff’s credibility as the new Sorcerer Supreme. We are seeing why she was the right person to carry the Sorcerer Supreme title. All the while we have a bigger storyline being build in the background around what Agatha Harkness is doing.
7) NIGHTWING #135

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Dan Watters
Artist: Dexter Soy
Colorist: Veronica Gandini
Letterer: Wes Abbott
The creative run was already proving to be as strong as their predecessors. With Nightwing #135 Dan Watters and Dexter Soy solidify they are doing something that is just as special as Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo. The ending of the “Cirque Du Sin” storyline truly feels like it forever changes the foundation of Bludhaven. By extension it changes the future direction for Nightwing and all the citizens of Bludhaven. Creating that impact shows how effective of a villain Zanni turned out to be. Now we are left in a spot where we don’t know what is next for Nightwing. That sense of unknown creates a hook to want to come back for more in next issue, and the issues after that.
6) TRANSFORMERS #29

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Dan Mora
Colorist: Sarah Stern
Letterer: Rus Wooton
Transformers #29 is an exciting comic book to read that is filled with non-stop action. Dan Mora, along with colorist Sarah Stern, shows why there is no comic book that looks better. You feel how the Autobots and Decepticons continue to go all out every time they fight each other. Creating the sense of not holding back helps build the investment we have with all the characters. Robert Kirkman nails the complexities involved, with Optimus Prime and Megatron’s different ways of leading being at the center of it all. With how lost you get in the action the way Elita One shows up at the end is a surprise because you weren’t expecting it.
5) ABSOLUTE BATMAN #17

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Scott Snyder
Artist: Eric Canete
Colorist: Frank Martin
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Absolute Poison Ivy gets the best character debut we’ve had from DC Comics in quite some time. Scott Snyder and Eric Canete take chances with the presentation of this debut in Absolute Batman #17. The distinctions drawn by Canete and colorist Frank Martin between the flashbacks and present day are strong. It connects you more with Absolute Poison Ivy’s backstory. It also adds to how Bruce Wayne has to deal with multiple things in and out of the cape and cowl. It all works to create an immersive experience that when you get to the hook for Absolute Poison Ivy’s character, it hits even harder.
4) WHITE SKY #1

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: William Harms
Artist: JP Mavinga
Colorist: Lee Loughridge
Letterer: Ed Dukeshire
As soon as you open White Sky #1 your questioning what happen in this post-apocalyptic world. William Harms and JP Mavinga hit that note by capturing the sense of loneliness that exists in this world. Seeing the father-daughter lead duo wandering around just trying to survive creates that sense of unknown. Harms and Mavinga knowing when to let scenes breathe with silent and dialogue heavy panels helps with all that. Creating that feeling helps to make when things go south it has a bigger impact on the characters and reader. Your concern level for the leads is increased because of the time spent with just the two of them before things take a turn. That leads to a surprising hook ending that gets you back to questioning what exactly happened to create the current state of the world we experienced.
3) NEW HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE: THE DAKOTA INCIDENT

CREATIVE TEAM
Writers: Joseph P Illidge, Stephanie Williams, Morgan Hampton, and Nikolas Draper-Ivey
Artists: Valentine De Landro, Carlo Pagulayan, Stephen Segovia, Fico Ossio, and Edwin Galmon
Inker: Jason Paz
Colorists: Marissa Louise, John Kalisz, Ulises Arreola, and Andrew Dalhouse
Letterer: Andworld Design
The New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident is exactly what the Milestone characters have needed since DC Comics brought them into the DCU. The three act structure taken by the creative team makes Static, Icon, Rocket, and others feel truly part of fabric of the DCU. That is something that was missing in previous attempts to integrate them into the DCU, where they felt like visitors. But thanks to the approach taken by The Dakota Incident you feel that the Milestone characters history is important to the DCU. It leaves the characters in a spot you look forward to where they will show up next. Something we hopefully don’t have to wait very long to find out what that future is.
2) ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #24

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Artists: Marco Checchetto and David Messina
Colorist: Matt Wilson
Letterer: Cory Petit
Ultimate Spider-Man #24 is a perfect ending to this series. It does that by giving the Parker Family a satisfying conclusion to their arcs while leaving this open for other characters. This open ending is fitting for all the various character arcs that Jonathan Hickman, Marco Checchetto, and David Messina. Ultimately it is the strong bond Peter Parker had with his family that helped him overcome Kingpin and Mr. Negative while Harry Osborn was off with Ultimate Mysterio. Being left in a spot you know the surviving characters’ lives, in whatever form they are left in, will continue after the final page made the finale even more satisfying.
1) ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL 2026

CREATIVE TEAM
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Mattia De Iulis
Letterer: Becca Carey
If there was one comic book to show why this series is DC Comics best comic book Absolute Wonder Woman Annual 2026 would be that issue. This comic book perfectly encapsulation what Kelly Thompson, Mattia De Iulis, and their other collaborators have made something truly special. Seeing Diana of the Wild Isle interacting with so many different mythological characters and normal people creates a unique balance. That all makes the spectacular things she is able to do with her fighting and magic skills even more impressive. That is showcased with how she takes on Absolute Medusa with a mix of all her strengths.
