Transformers #5 Preview – Starscream Making Big Moves

The Energon Universe has brought a whole new era for the Transformers and G.I. JOE franchises. Continuing the development of the Energon Universe will be Transformers #5, releasing on February 14th. Ahead of Transformers #5 release Skybound and Image Comics has provided us with a preview to share.

Leading into Transformers #5 we’ve seen the Energon Universe quickly take shape. The events in the new writer and artist Daniel Warren Johnson, colorist Mike Spicer, and letterer Rus Wooton’s Transformers have had an impact on the Duke and Cobra Commander G.I. JOE mini-series. The actions by the current Decepticon leader, Starscream, has particular had a major impact on the Energon Universe. Based on the solicitation for Transformers #5 Starscream will continue to make his presence known.

Starscream revives one of the most powerful Decepticons to eliminate the Autobots once and for all.

When Transformers #5 release it will arrive with its main cover by Johnson and Spicer. In addition, variant covers by James Stokoe, Orlando Arocena, Natacha Bustos, and Karl Kerschl will also be available. Check out the covers and four-page preview below.

LOS ANGELES 01/18/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed an impressive lineup of variant covers and interior pages for Daniel Warren Johnson’s TRANSFORMERS #5. The fifth issue of the smash hit series, TRANSFORMERS, will be available on shelves in comic book shops February 14, 2024.

TRANSFORMERS #5 continues the Energon Universe and the all-new era of the iconic TRANSFORMERS franchise from Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon). Starscream revives one of the most powerful Decepticons to eliminate the Autobots once and for all.

In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, the stacked list of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #5 includes a cover by James Stokoe (Wonton Soup), a 1:10 incentive variant continuing the connecting cover series by Orlando Arocena (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), a 1:25 incentive variant by Natacha Bustos (Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur), and a 1:50 incentive variant by Karl Kerschl (Adventures of Superman).

The Energon Universe officially began in June 2023 with the surprise first appearance of iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals #1, introducing the historic new collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher. The Energon Universe recently expanded with the launch of Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s SupermanDark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33). Next up for the Energon Universe is the launch of Cobra Commander #1 later this month from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana and Annalisa LeoniFans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions.
